The dumplings are good. Flavorful, big, well cooked and seasoned. It's nice to be able to choose fried vs steamed. Most of the other food is perfectly acceptable, and I'd recommend it. The place is clean and presentable, but not exactly comfortable. They don't want hangers on. The food comes out quickly enough and is very consistent. What you get one day is the same a month later. However, my biggest complaint is that they don't offer water. Tap water. You have to buy a beverage. The attitude they guy gave me when I asked why was reprehensible. The rest of the staff are polite enough, but can't be described as 'friendly.' What I do like is that it's not your typical Chinese take out joint. Update : They changed their dough. I ordered "well done" fried pork dumplings, and they were raw and they had used gristle instead of meat to make the inside stuffing! it was foul. and when I called to complain, they asked me to come by with photos and proof instead of apologizing for what they did. My husband told me about this place opening up in Sunnyside and was quite excited when he brought me here for a quick lunch. However, I was not impressed with their dumplings. Their dumplings were overstuffed with weird processed meat and they definitely look frozen rather than handmade. Their dumplings also don't have any flavor. I ordered the dumpling noodle soup and the noodles they used were tasteless and somewhat overcooked. The broth was ok and not too oily but sadly, that was probably the best part of the whole meal. Surprisingly ,there was a lot of seating for a hole-in-a-wall type of place. I had a late lunch here with the girlfriend at around 3:00 p.m. There was no line when we arrived, but it was near capacity, and a line formed a few times while we were there. There's certainly a lot of excitement over this place opening, but I think it's bound to die down soon, based on the quality of the food. We ordered chicken/shrimp fried dumplings, pork/chive fried dumplings, sesame noodles, and pork belly noodle soup. I said "soup" very clearly when I ordered, since there's another item just called pork belly noodles. I received the soupless version despite my efforts. The shared theme among all of these items was the lack of flavor. The most flavorful were the pork dumplings, but even they paled in comparison to what you'd find in Chinatown or Flushing. All the dumplings needed to be doused with dumpling sauce to be palatable. The dumpling dough was dense and chewy and, like all the food here, seemed more focused on being filling than on being flavorful. The noodle dishes had the least flavor. We both liberally added rice vinegar hoping for an improvement, but man, vinegar is no substitute for a flavorful sauce. I imagine the pork belly noodles would've been more palatable with broth as a soup. The pork itself wasn't bad--it melted in my mouth as advertised--but it was among the least inspiring pork belly I've ever had. I take no pleasure in saying this, but the bottle of ginger ale was the most flavorful thing we got, and I found myself retreating to it just to get some flavor in my mouth. The prices are really very reasonable. They're not the shockingly cheap prices you'd find in Chinatown or Flushing, but they're fine for Sunnyside. If I had managed to find something on the menu that's tasty, I would've felt like I got a bargain. The restaurant was bright and airy in the afternoon, and it has a relatively nice, open view of the intersection. The tables were clean, but there were a lot of chopstick wrappers and napkins on the floor, and it didn't take too long to realize why. It's very drafty inside--not just from the door opening, which caused a rush of cold wind each time, but from the normal ventilation, which kept a constant breeze blowing everything around. We had to place the various condiment bottles on our napkins and chopstick wrappers to keep them from blowing away. It's not much different from eating outside on a breezy day. Overall, my first trip here was rather unpleasant. I will return at some point to try some other items that people say are good, because I really like the concept of this place, and it seems like a decent value. First impression: very modern and clean. It felt like an upscale authentic Chinese restaurant. Don't be fooled there is no waiter service instead you order you food and pick it up when its done. Once I arrived at my friend's house I was surprised at the size. It was small and it came with one piece of pork belly. It also had cucumber and peanuts (?) on top. The take out box came with a watery sauce that taste sweet and salty. I tried it first without the sauce and I was in love with it. The pork belly was a chewy, taste was very well balance, and it wasn't as saucy as most pork belly buns from Japanese restaurants. I didn't mind saucy or not saucy as long as my mouth agrees this is some bomb a** pork belly bun/ bao. I tried it with the sauce this time and I loved it too but it was too watery. I tried to dip my bun in the sauce instead of pouring it and it works better and less messy. Over all: The bao was surprisingly good but the price for two is too pricey. My boyfriend ordered a couple different baos and he seemed satisfied by them, so maybe give those a shot. I don't know and I'm definitely not going back. I love dumplings so I was excited to see a new place open just a couple of blocks away from where I live. Finally after trying it, I might refer to it as "Things & More Things". The meal I split with another person was - 2 dumpling types (chicken/shrimp/cilantro and pork/chives), sesame noodles with peanut sauce, and 2 bao types (melt in your mouth pork belly and sliced braised beef). The dumplings were pretty different than I've had before. They were in thin wrappers and stuffed pretty full. I preferred the chicken over pork chives, but overall were just okay. The bao was nicely prepared and just okay also. I prefer whole buns with filling over their taco style buns. I am a sesame noodle fanatic and was disappointed to find theirs were NOT GOOD AT ALL. Weird gray slimy noodles with a tiny container of peanut sauce you are to pour over. Overall the food was basic, lacking its own uniqueness. For dessert we tried mochi ice cream, mango and strawberry flavors. My first try of this and I liked it (enjoyed strawberry over mango), but not worth $1 each for an after dinner mint - they were pretty small. I had fried Spicy Beef and Kimchi dumplings which were /okay/. They weren't very spicy and it was just lightly seasoned ground beef. They tasted like regular old beef dumplings to me, nothing memorable. The braised beef noodle soup was also just okay. The beef tasted like it was seasoned with chinese five-spice, the noodles themselves were great but the broth was a bit bland. I had to hit it with a ton of sriracha just to shake off the bitter winter cold. Like other reviewers I found the bao to be the highlight of the menu. The melt-in-your-mouth pork belly bao were the best thing I ordered. Our food came up pretty quickly considering how packed the place was. Anyways, been here several times and by far their beef is best (beef kimchi dumplings, slice beef noodle soup and boas are just excellent) you cannot go wrong. - Usually I'll go for chicken but chicken is usually boring... I'm not a big red meat eater but I definetly will say these are the best beef dumplings. - Home made noodle, sure they're not perfectly firm but they're imperfect because they're fresh and hand made...and you can tell the difference. - Boas, they're light and fluffy and I could eat them all day - rice dishes (my husband has had the chicken and pork) they're simple with a light Thai sauce on the side. It's great because they DON'T marinade it (my husband who has to be gluten free) can safely eat it and not react. It's simple good food. For the area (Astoria, LIC, Sunnyside) this is the closest thing to having Chinatown quality food in the area without having to leave the neighborhood and a MUCH needed place. A few things work - the wontons in red oil and the pork bao. But the noodles are poorly made, the dumplings and the wontons have weird texture and are depressingly flavorless. If you make a pork dumpling with chives it should be a taste sensation - they're simply not here, they're dry and one note and the dough is chewy. Located so close to Flushing that it makes more sense to just go to Flushing for flavorful food they're underestimating their customers. Why not hire some authentic Chibese cooks from Flushing? I was wandering through Sunnyside starving with a bag of donuts (that is not food) and found this place on yelp. After scanning the menu I decided on a bao bun, beef. The counter ladies were polite and efficient. Within 12 minutes, I had pondered ordered and received the sandy. The appearance was great but the flavor was a bland. The size was smaller than usual and could've been steamed longer. The texture was not light and airy, with the signature chewiness. All bland. This place is great- what is not to love? The menu is very short and limited so you would only be here if you are in a noodle-dumpling kind of mood and if you are, this place is just the place to be. Cheap prices for great food. Their steamed shrimp dumplings were really good. It's skin was just the right thickness and had the perfect texture. The beef bao could've had a little more beef but for the price can't be beat. Loved the balance between the fresh, sweet and sour veggies against the salty beef on a light chewy bun. And the beef noodle was also nicely flavored- not too greasy or salty like it too often is at other restaurants. I would and am going to go back often. read more

First thing is do not expect any service at this place because its a self service place and you dont have to leave tips. But if you are generous the tipping jar is available on the cashier. I have seen many comment on yelp about the dumpling and disturbing smell of the place. I have been come to this place so many times and i have not seen any of those complaint. The place is small true, yet its very clean. Spoon, fork are made out of plastic and bamboo chopstick And most of the fried and steam dumpling served on styrofoam plate which is acceptable. The fried pork and chives dumpling's skin to meat ratio is great but the meat/fat in the filling is very lean so the vinegar/soy sauce or a dab of siracha is a must.
