    Dunarea Schnitzel/Snitel de Pork
    Boris M.

We visited Dunarea after a Disneyland visit, craving some Central European food, and, to cut the suspense, we were not disappointed. Parking is easily found in the plaza. The restaurant is large and airy, and the chairs and tables are consistent with many restaurants in Central Europe. The staff member who served us (I think it was the owner) was very friendly. We opted for the pork schnitzel (Dunarea schnitzel), the stuffed cabbage rolls, the stuffed grape leaves, and the pickled salad. The cabbage rolls and grape leaves were fresh and well-balanced. The pickled salad provided a nice acidity that paired well with the other dishes. The schnitzel was very similar to homemade schnitzel in Central Europe; relatively thin pork cutlets, coated in breadcrumbs and pan-fried. Overall, a very pleasant experience and good homestyle food.

The service here is truly amazing! They treated me like family and the food was just wonderful! Truly authentic Romanian food. I ordered Dobrogeană and man was it delicious!! The cheese on top of the perfectly cooked egg was so good! The chicken was tender and the pork and cabanos sausage was perfectly spiced. The sauce was fresh and just brought everything together! DELICIOUS!! The sarmale is everything it should be with the delicious meat wrapped in sour cabbage mmmmm!! Don't forget to order Papanași, the donut was fresh out of the oven with moist cake and the donut hole on top popped with deliciousness! The ambiance in the restaurant had low comfort lighting and the seating was comfortable. I can't wait to go back and enjoy more authentic Romanian food cooked with love!

Ambiance: Resturant/ Romanian Cuisine Service: Super Attentive The staff were very welcoming and attentive. They always made sure the food was brought out, gave recommendations to our liking, and explained the cuisine since we were unfamiliar to it. Food: Delicious! The food was so good! I would recommend their appetizer platter. I loved their mustard veggie appetizer, it's kind of like an Eastern European savory cold slaw. I would also highly recommend the beef soup, chicken schnitzel, and mitite. I think this is one of the most unique eateries in SoCal as we don't come across Romanian food. Parking: Lot The resturant is in a shopping center with ample parking

This is specifically for Thanksgiving Day 2025. I wondered what it would be like to celebrate Thanksgiving at a Romanian restaurant. It was perfect. The food was mostly Romanian. They offered turkey and stuffing but we didn't really eat it. We had salata de vinete, beouf, icre, fasole. Hot food was mici and bar a calita. Fruit and cakes too. I would definitely go back!!

I really liked this restaurant and the food served. However, we got severe food poisoning from eating dinner here and were struggling for 2 days and couldn't do anything. 4 hours after eating dinner here, we started having excruciating stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea all night with no sleep! We were going on vacation the next day and this restaurant completely ruined our vacation! I wanted to support small businesses and write a nice review but this food poisoning was so disruptive to our lives that I just cannot support this restaurant.

Came here 01/05/2024. There was no wait on a Friday night for a party of 4. Dunarea is run by a Romanian family and serves Romanian/Eastern European food. Food: We tried the cold cut platter, meatball soup, dobrogeana, beef stroganoff, parisian chicken schnitzel, and dunarea pork schnitzel. Free bread rolls were good, but not served warm. Cold cut platter was very good with variety and feta cheese. Meatball soup was a big portion for the price and had a tomato base. Dobrogeana the chicken was dry, I would try something else. Beef stroganoff was a bit salty and the meat wasn't too tender. The schnitzels were both really good. Service: Excellent service by the bossman/owner. He made us feel comfortable trying Romanian food for the first time and explained different components of the dishes. Bread is generally not served with butter in Romania. Overall would try again and good value for the prices.

Very authentic! I went here with my Romanian friend and it was quite cozy. The ambiance was peaceful, elegant and the food was sooooo yummy. The service was amazing too! Our waiter was charming and helpful.

Chicken Paprika, Skinless Sausages/Mititei, Cornmeal with Feta Cheese and Sour Cream/Mamaliguta cu Branza si Smantana

The food was fantastic! I am half Romanian and I took my non-Romanian friend with me who loved the food! This food is better than some I've had IN Romania! The paprika chicken is delicious and the papanași is to die for! Would definitely recommend those two. The mămăligă is also a classic to get if you've never had it before. Romania food is absolutely delicious and the service is beyond fantastic. The owners are Romanian and I was able to speak in Romanian to them. The restaurant has beautiful, traditional decor and a warm ambiance. Overall 10/10 to this restaurant!! I will definitely be coming back

Amazing food and fantastic service! The waiter or owner (?) Came by to take our order, but we were a little indecisive. We asked for recommendations and the waiter just took our menus and said not to worry, he got us covered. We got romanian beer and he brought up a big spread of a little bit of everything! Absolutely delicious from the free bread, dish, and especially the beer. Restaurant was nicely decorated with cultural Romanian clothing and images, and had a nice dinner vibe. Will definitely come back again.

What an amazing way to celebrate my 40th birthday .. The food was delicious great customer service and the ambiance made me feel right at home ... Thank you to the staff for making it all happen .

Our server was very warm and helpful. For two of us we ordered one heavier dish and 3 on the lighter side and I actually left pretty stuffed. The menu is always evolving so I'd love to return, but for this visit we started with the bread and ham butter. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham butter imparted so much flavor. My favorite item that we ordered was the Galician Octopus. The thin slices were perfectly executed and the flavors underneath packed a punch. I would pass on the Gambas al Ajillo. While the shrimp were large, I found myself wishing that they had some char. The Summer Squash Salad was a perfect complement to the other dishes. I found the squash ribbons to be unique, the dressing to be light and fresh, and the inclusion of small bits of cheese to impart just the right amount of saltiness to the dish. Because we were celebrating my birthday, they gave us a complimentary slice of the basque cheesecake with a candle in it. Typically I'm not a big fan of this type of cheesecake, but theirs was wonderful and we ate the whole thing. I'm always appreciative when a restaurant does a little something extra for a special occasion. Extra props to our server because she noticed the gift that my friend brought for me and took it upon herself to inquire about the occasion and bring the dessert. It's those little touches that mean a lot.

Of the items tried this was my least favorite. - Apple Pear Frisée Salad: Loved this salad! Super refreshing and perfectly dressed. The balance of lettuce, pears and apples with the ham.. it just hit the spot. This is something I'd get again. - Galician Octopus - Another winner of a dish! Perfectly prepared octopus and the sauce - it was a party in my mouth. A definite must try! - Braised Mushroom: I was on the fence about this one but my friend picked it. It was surprisingly good. You mix in the onsen egg and it just works. - Rack of Pork - this is another winner of a dish! I will say it tastes even better as a left over. The pork was perfectly seasoned and oh so yummy! - bosque cheesecake: nice and creamy cheesecake and a nice way to wrap up a meal. I'm not a drinker, but they had an assortment of wines and beers. My friend quite enjoyed the beer our waiter recommended. All in all a fun dining experience - one I'd definitely repeat. When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus.

Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Definitely not worth the money, and not somewhere I'd ever go back to.

The rice was dry and fluffy, each grain distinct, perfectly absorbing the sweet, sour, and slightly spicy flavors of the kimchi; the beef short ribs were tender and juicy, with a rich, fatty aroma. The perfectly runny soft-boiled egg was a definite plus. It somewhat shattered my stereotype about Korean fried rice. Short Rib Burrito: Calling this tortilla soaked in sauce a "burrito" is quite creative... avocado, soft-boiled egg, cheese, and black beans--a typical Mexican recipe; the sauce was tangy and spicy, refreshing and stimulating, creating a good balance with the rich, rounded flavors of the ingredients. For Cantonese like me, it was a bit too spicy. Basque Cheesecake: Absolutely delicious...the best Basque cheesecake I've ever had! The cake was delicate and smooth, with a different texture in every bite, from the molten center to the firmer edges, and the transitions were very natural; the cheese was incredibly rich and creamy, almost like eating milk powder.

We had a wonderful dining experience at The Little Door…read more The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Everything looked amazing and tasted even better. The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and perfect for a special evening. We truly enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Wow. Okay the pictures on instagram do not do this place justice. I rarely say that places look…read morebetter than their official page and marketing...but yeah. This place does. Like people said it was romantic and I was like sure, I guess in the pictures it kind of does. In person though??? Wow. Absolutely wow. I was in awe. I wish I could sit there every day. The lights and ambiance are truly insane. I have never experienced anything like it. Let me backtrack too and say that I paid $14 for valet which tbh is not too bad considering I didn't have to worry about my car or anything so it was worth it. Okay the food. We got Parker rolls and the Mezze plate for the table. Wow, the Parker rolls were as you would expect. Buttery goodness. French butter as you know...top tier. Okay the Mezze plate? Every single sauce was so good. The little cous cous thing in the Mezze plate was so cute and yummy. Then the main dishes. Seven vegetable couscous was great. As a Moroccan, I can say it was a great vegetarian version of the dish. Has the staple veggies you look for in a cous cous. My friend got the vegan cauliflower steak and that was so beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a great dish for my vegan friend. Our waiter was so nice and really personable as well. From start to finish, he was there for us when we needed him and we really enjoyed our dining experience because of him. I forgot his name but he's a star. I have already recommended this place to others because it really was so incredible. I am so happy I got to come here.
