Use ACE. I am aware that paint stores, such as this one, have huge mark-ups, so I thought I did my due diligence. But I got ripped off anyway. On their website, the paint I wanted was shown as $83.50 per gallon. I called to ask if, as a member of an HOA, I was entitled to a discount. I was told yes, 37% off. When I arrived to purchase the paint, I ensured they were giving me the 37% discount, only to find the discounted price was $74.83 per gallon. The clerk told me "The 37% discount is from list, not from retail." Apparently the list price on this paint is $119 per gallon. What a rip-off. Turns out I could have gone to my local ACE hardware store (check first - not all ACE stores sell D-E paint) where I can walk in off the street and pay $46.99 a gallon for the exact same paint. D-E paint might be good, but they rip you off when you purchase as a consumer. read more

Came here for a quick lunch run to get a paint sample. There was one person in front of me. Once I got to the register to order my paint sample the poor sale associate was so low energy and moving at a snails pace. I paid in cash and you would have thought I was paying in Russian rubles by the way she acted. I admit it was a larger bill but it took 5-10 minutes for me to get my change and then I never got a receipt. She was really sweet just didn't seem confident in her job. After waiting 45 minutes for my sample I finally had to ask about my sample status and then it appeared it may have been sitting back there for a long time. Also the lady that I had asked decorating color questions seemed annoyed I was asking so many questions. I know the big boxes like Home Depot get a bad rap but my experience at the Home Depot in Scottsdale was 100 x better, faster and friendlier. Wouldn't recommend this location. I'm sad . read more

I am giving the store 5 stars for the customer service I received today In the past I was critical of an over long wait and poor customer service. The manager called me a few weeks ago and we spoke about the issues I had experienced Today I went in with a can of paint that had no brand or color identification on it. I needed to match the paint to my trim. The service person told me they could do it. Asked me to give them some time to do it and gave me a time when I should come back. We showed her photos of our highly carved double front doors and discussed the "look" we wanted. Andrea quickly directed us to a color (Pasadena Rose) we would have totally overlooked. She provided paint type and sheen level guidance, painting tips (reds often need 3 coats!), sandpaper suggestions, and lots of encouragement. I can't say enough great things about Jessica. She went above and beyond to help me and is super patient. She helped me pull all the HOA schemes (which was 10 total) and pulled every single-color chip. Jessica helped me see the undertones and asked me all the right questions to make the right choice. Now I understand why every quality painter I know goes to sherwin williams. I came to this store because they had a sale on their samples colors. They offered 3oz paint color samples with 3 brushes for $19.99. I told the cashier, I came in interested in purchasing 4 color samples, but now I see this sale, can I add 2 additional samples colors for a total of 6 samples and 6 brushes for $19.99 X 2? He said sure! They mix my 6 samples of the colors and Evan brings them to me. He rings up $55 on the register. I told him that doesn't look right, are you charging me $15 dollars in sales tax? He looks at me and says the sale is only for 3 brushes and 3 samples, the others I need to pay full price for. I said that's not what you said earlier, he said to me to look at the sale paper, it says 3 samples and 3 brushes. He is the one who made a mistake telling me this sale can be multiples by 2, but he is too immature to admit his mistake. He was short and rude when I pushed him on it. Terrible customer service and very immature staff. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Don't deal with the aggravation and immaturity of the staff you have to deal with here. read more

HUGE shout out to the Scottsdale Dunn Edwards store!!! I first went in to the Goodyear store to have this Tiffany's bag matched for a client because it was closer to my office. The Goodyear store told me they couldn't match it because it was paper and not paint. I use to work for DE... I know this is not true! I was so irritated! They flat out said they couldn't help me. So I took my business to Jay Turney! He and his team at Scottsdale DE are major rockstars! I don't think there is anything that they can't match! We are building a home and were in the Scottsdale store on Frank Lloyd Wright before the holidays with our samples trying to find the right colors to paint our home. Tara Dondas must have seen us struggling and she came over in between her appointments and gave us information on how to schedule an appointment with a paint consultant to help with this process. We left the store and scheduled our appointment online. This week we met with Tara. We brought in all of our tile/flooring/furniture samples and within 50 minutes, we had a beautiful color palette for our new home. Met with Tara Dondas last week and then for just a few minutes today. She's their professional color consultant which I didn't even know they had. She's amazing!!! I've been running around for a month trying to coordinate colors for all my cabinets, paint for entire interior, etc. I brought in my samples (flooring, tile) and she totally nailed it! She's personable, professional, extremely knowledgeable and efficient. She was patient, took input and my needs into consideration and helped me come to a conclusion that I believe will yield excellent results in my home. What a time saver. She's terrific! My husband and I went to Dunn Edwards to get some ideas for paint colors as we are painting our entire house. We thought we could pick the color out ourselves even though we know nothing about colors and what looks nice. We asked for help and was assisted immediately by Andrea B. We showed her a picture of our cabinets and based on that we chose a color. We received samples but when we painted them on the wall, we knew it was the wrong color. We loved the color but it didn't go with our cabinets. We returned to the store for more help from Andrea, this time bringing a cabinet door. We asked Andrea for her help again, without hesitation she helped us pick out the right colors. She knew exactly which color family would work, we chose 4 different colors within the same family. Avoid this location! I am in the middle of a project and need to select a color for my painters so I have been in a few of the Dunn Edwards stores from Tempe to Tukee and Phoenix, depending where I am out running errands. All have been so helpful in helping me with the daunting process of selecting colors and getting wet samples! NOT THIS LOCATION!! Not only did they say they cannot help give any recommendations (not even tell me what are popular) which I found odd since they did at every other location and every paint store I've ever been in for that matter! They made me purchase some colors in pint size instead of sample which was 4x the price. They also didn't label the sample colors! I brought home 8 samples not one can labeled!! They also seemed very annoyed to be doing there job like I was bothering them for even asking for help! I never leave reviews but since there are so many locations let me help you by just going to one of the others where there are real paint experts that go above and beyond to help you and don't waste your time with this location!! Dolly the color specialist was very helpful, professional and friendly. We were very happy with the outcome! It's nice that the service is free when you come into the store. The rest of the staff was also helpful. **We have one suggestion to improve the general store service in the future. On a following visit, we waited in line for a quite a while as the people behind the counter took orders and helped people on multiple phone calls. We were irritated that we spent time and effort to come into the store to be passed over to service phone customers. Perhaps put phone customers on hold, or have a dedicated person handle phone customers so at least one person is available to handle store customers. Thanks! read more

Not only was the staff (specifically Olivia) very helpful and friendly with my paint needs, they also were supportive when I discovered I had a flat tire! The store was fairly busy and the manager (Shaun) told one of his employees to be sure to assist me with my spare tire ASAP. They still met their customers needs inside with extra hands on deck stepping up to assist their customers, so Ross (who knew how to change a tire) could step away and help me. Once he was done, I was able to get over to get my tire repaired and pick up my kids from school on time with 5 min to spare. Went in for a small purchase (just needed to pay, advice not required). Two "cashiers" fully occupied problem solving for customers, had to call for a manager 3 times before he sauntered out. 7 customers waiting in line to pay. Finally gave up, put the items back on the shelf and left. Next day, my wife goes in and experiences the same incredible lack of retail customer service. This place should just close its doors to non-contractor customers, as they sure haven't a clue about what it takes. That, taken with their "bankers hours" and closure on Sundays sends a clear message that Home Depot / Lowe's is a better place to go. read more

Speaking with Paul on the phone (East Frank Lloyd Wright store) I was thoroughly impressed with his enthusiasm, obvious professional expertise, and willingness to spend what ever time was necessary to answer all of my questions. When I got to the store my order was ready and Paul patiently answered more of my questions as well as helping me select some additional supplies. He even carried the paint out to my car!! I'm so impressed by the team at the Scottsdale store. I'm in a time crunch to comply with an HOA order to paint our home - and Jay went ABOVE & BEYOND to help me! He personally made draw downs of the 2 colors I needed - which is something paint contractors typically have to order from their sales reps - and had them ready the same afternoon. Jay wasn't there when I picked up the draw downs, but the rest of the team was doing an amazing job dealing with a TON of customers and orders. Currently, only 1 customer can enter the store at a time, and paint was being delivered to cars in the parking lot. The staff was incredibly busy, with a packed parking lot and phones that never stopped ringing. The woman who helped me at the counter was awesome - and clearly a pro at multi-tasking!
