Lots of empty tables, no music playing, kind of sad tables and chairs. Next, the menu was a bit confusing. There's plates, combo plates, salad bar combo plates, sandwiches, et al. It took a bit of explaining to understand that you could get the BBQ meat and a trip to the salad bar but it doesn't come with any sides unless you want to pay extra, or a dinner plate with your choice of BBQ meat that comes with sides and an optional trip to the salad bar, but then there's choices of premium or standard sides some of which you can get with one dinner plate but not with another dinner plate. Yeah. Anyway, we ordered. Hubby opted for the meat (pulled pork) with a salad bar, and I opted for the St Louis ribs dinner plate with mac n cheese, coleslaw and corn bread. I also got a serving of the corn fritters which I always like to try at BBQ places. So the ribs were tender. They had a nice flavor and seasoning. You have a choice of several BBQ sauces. I liked the sweet and sweet mustard sauces. The mild was ok, and I'm not a hot fan so I can't comment on those. Hubby said his pulled pork was good, nothing special. The corn fritters were great; crispy on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. But other than that, the coleslaw was very bland just chopped cabbage really without much else. The mac n cheese was plain. The corn bread was like standard corn bread and not memorable. Hubby thought the salad bar was "average." I'm not going to say we won't go back, but I think we'll be trying other BBQ venues first. For the price and what you get, the value just wasn't there. Service was quick, and the waitress was very patient in explaining the menu. So that was a plus.

The clam chowder is well balanced I like a lot of places where it's so thick your spoon stands up or the broth is nothing but thickened milk with no flavor. Potato chunks were a big big but clams were there so I was happy. We've gone early lunchtime on weekends both times and it's been fairly quiet with very attentive servers. Which leads me to digress about their ranch dressing... It was REALLY good. So good that I asked for an extra cup for my Philly cheese steak & Hubs' fries (99¢). Our server mentioned that their Ranch dressing is made in-house, and it definitely shows. I'm not often a Philly Cheesesteak gal but on this night I was craving one. Apparently Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ is inside Walmart Supercenter. Yes. Inside Walmart. At this point I was convinced the teenager had been scrolling too much TikTok. A barbecue restaurant... in Walmart? I had to see this with my own eyes. So off we went. Sure enough, tucked right inside the store was this little barbecue spot that looked like it had no business being that good. The smell alone should have been illegal to pump into a retail environment. You walk in expecting to buy paper towels and leave smelling like you just visited a smokehouse in Texas. And the food? Surprisingly fantastic. The barbecue had that smoky flavor that makes you pause mid-bite and say, "Okay... hold on... this is actually really good." The portions were generous, the menu had plenty of options, and somehow the whole thing managed to feel both fast and freshly made. The real miracle of the evening was that everyone--kids, guests, and the exhausted adults--walked away happy and full. No experimental freezer meals were required, and my reputation as a "competent host" lived to see another day. Final verdict: If someone tells you there's legit barbecue inside Walmart, don't argue--go investigate.
