Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not because I thought it would be bad, but just because I didn't think it would be that good. First our server was great...on the receipt it said Janet. Wine prices and pours were GREAT. French onion soup is awesome. Crab cake and salads were scrumptious. I was hesitant about Dutch's after reading reviews about it being over-priced quite a few times. Honestly, yes, it's more than a chain steakhouse like Long Horn Steakhouse but you also get what you pay for. Could we have gotten a good streak from cheaper steakhouses, yes. But the service, the atmosphere and the food over all was really fantastic. Long story short, if your not looking to spend the money, take a look at the menu posts on here and get a feel for what you're in for. Plan to spend $100+ dollars on two people so you're not shocked about the price but when you're willing to spend the extra money on a special night, it's worth it. read more

Most likely my favorite place to eat in the surrounding area. We stopped here for my Grandma's birthday one year and I went back a few times since then. The last time I went was the best, for reasons Ill keep private. ;) My favorite menu item is the filet with hollandaise sauce on top with crab meat and asparagus. I also really like their scallops. They have really tasty, classic dishes. They offer different cakes a la carte, as well. I think we had a cheesecake of some sort and I remember it being really tasty. My dream would be to eat outside one day. The bar has always been an interest of mine, along with the ability to stay overnight. I had been in the hotel/rooms once and they were standard. I would say this place is slightly one the nicer side, but I don't recall a dress code. I think that it was a very nice spot to have a date or a relaxing night out with the person in your dreams. Wow I'm feeling generous giving Dutch's two stars. I'm really sorry to post this as I had very high hopes for my first dining experience here at Dutch's to be excellent. Having grown up in the MD area I have dined at the "other" Dutch's (Dutch's Daughters in Frederick, MD) fairly often and always had fabulous meals. I think the similarities ends with the name. Don't get me wrong the interior is very nice and It has a bit of charm. After being seated at our table I went to turn over my water glass so that the waitress could fill it, The glass was not only filthy and covered in fingerprints but had lipstick on it as well, it obviously had not been washed. The waitress brought me a new glass and acted like it was an every day event. My Friend and I ordered the buffet. What a disappointment that was. First off they had delicious looking steamed shrimp so I took a plate back to the table. I started to remove the shrimp shell and found out they were not de-veined shrimp and thus very difficult to peel the shrimp. (Plus, shrimp served like this are just disgusting). They really should spend the extra money and buy the deveined shrimp to serve Customers expecting the best. So I went back and got salmon. The salmon in the tray look delicious it had some juices on the bottom of the pan, but turned out to be dry and overcooked. Yum... I did really enjoyed the Cream of Crab soup until I took a bite that was nothing but a huge piece of crab shell and I'm not talking about one little piece either ...I've been eating crab soup my entire life you always get one or two small pieces of shells, but that was huge and unacceptable. Figured I would try the prime rib next, Dutch's Daughters in Frederick has excellent beef. Unfortunately they only had one prime rib to slice and serve and it was " medium" done so there went my hopes of having a nice piece of beef for dinner I might enjoy. I tried others things on the buffet and everything was just OK, very unforgettable. I could go on but why bother, suffice it to say I will not be back to this location. One other thing I also noticed the location in Frederick has excellent servers and management. I have never had dinner there without being approached by a floor manager to ask how our meal was or just to say good evening. No one approached our table here and I didn't see anyone walking around to other tables either. Wow what a total disappointment this place. read more

On a short vacation and this was on our list to have a dinner based on reviews and outside dining. We had our dog in the car and when we were being seated I saw dog water bowls, so my husband got the dog. The hostess brought her a bowl of water with ice and milk bones. The my meal was super had the stuffed shrimp. Husband had the Orange Roughy which could have use some type of sauce as tasted good but dry. The meal came with a great Caesar Salad that both my husband I raved over. If you are a bread eater it was really tasted good and the pooch liked it with butter. Had such a great meal came back the next day the Salmon appetizer and fried calamari was super. And husband also had the potato soup excellent. Plus, dog was happy again. My husband and I came here for our final night in Deep Creek. The atmosphere is so romantic. The lighting and music is soft. All of the staff are so friendly. The menu offers something for everyone. I would say that the most popular items are the fillet and crab cakes. Speaking of the filet, I ordered mine medium and my husband ordered his medium rare. They came out perfectly cooked with a side of twice baked potatoes. Apparently, the chef felt that my fillet was "too small" so he made me another one free of charge! That raised the bar! I didn't even notice it was small and I was totally satisfied with my meal but the chef felt otherwise. That says a lot. I highly recommend Dutch's for a nice dinner. read more

We were recommended by 3 people to come here. The last time we were in Deep Creek we randomly selected a restaurant and failed. This time we were pretty happy. Zucchini Chips - 4/5 - It could've been it's own meal. There were probably a dozen of them. I expected it to be flash-fried thin pieces of zucchini cause they're called "chips" but I actually really liked that they were thick pieces, breaded, and deep fried. Good seasoning to it with a little parmesan shaved on top. But the sauce made it for me. It was like a remoulade but with red pepper and maybe celery. Whatever they put in it was fantastic. I ate that sauce with my seafood too. Side Caesar Salad - 4/5 - more than an average caesar because they added a half hard-boiled egg which I thought worked really well. Blackened and Honey Glazed Atlantic Salmon - 4/5 - the blackened and honey glazed was not overpowering (I could've handled a little more but it's not a fault). Cooked perfectly. Crab Imperial - 4.5/5 - also really good. It wasn't overly creamy or buttery tasting. All lump crap, no fillers. I did the add-on to my salmon and it was worth it. Service - 5/5 - the kid was really sweet, attentive but not overly annoying, and at the end we talked a little more to him and he was just seemed like an all-around good person read more

I stopped in here for dinner one evening with my church. When I heard that the seafood buffet was $40, my college student brain got worried because that's an expensive buffet! Looking at the menu made me even more worried because of the priciness. I settled with some cheese sticks and potato soup, and they were both delicious! The cheese sticks were massive, and I felt like I was truly getting my money's worth. The potato soup tasted so fresh and creamy, I was sad that the bowl was so small. My meal cost me $15. We were at the Wisp Resort for skiing and we wanted to go out to a nice dinner. I found This restaurant on yelp and decided to try it. It is definitely the best restaurant we've been to an a while. My company was great... two 90+ year old experts on Garrett County History. But to me, the most memorable part was the server, Erica, and her attentive trainee, Austin. I have always enjoyed and recommended this restaurant but after the mismanagement of our reservation and the rude dismissiveness of the hostesses I will not be back. If you aren't super specific on your reservation requests (outside, under patio, umbrella etc... they don't ask) then you get stuck on the deck in the hot sun regardless if you have little kids with you or not. Food was really good, and our server in the main dining room was lovely. The low star rating is for the hostess working on the evening of September 9th in the downstairs area who was incredibly rude. We showed up about 12 minutes late for our reservation, incredibly apologetic and saying we would of course wait longer due to the delay and being incredibly thankful they could accommodate us. The restaurant was maybe 30% full. She was snarky and made a comment about the late arrival and that she had cancelled us (which is fair, the late arrival was on us and our responsibility), but she was super nasty about it. When we were seated she had actually had written a ticket with our reservation time versus arrival time and placed it on the table in front of us, presumably to notify our lovely waitress. We tipped well due to the great service from the woman who had our table, but the experience was so surprising that I barely ate the meal. We were 20 mins late for our reso (8:20) and even though the restaurant closed at 9:30, the hostess made us feel welcomed and the server was especially friendly . Awful overall. The server, Olivia, was excellent. She was enthusiastic, entertaining, yet not pouring forth the BS BFF shtick that is increasingly a substitute for well trained and efficient servers. Service personnel in this area just don't seem to give a darn...as if the tourists are a bother, rather than an opportunity to enrich the community and the individual. Crab was excellent...some of the best I have had. Steak was actually inedible. Crazy over salted with some god awful Lowry's tasting seasoning. If you are selling top quality beef....ya don't need to season it beyond salt and pepper. Other items presented were not so hot....salad was decent, although fresh out of the bag. My lovely dining companion liked the broccoli...but somehow it tasted funny to me. She was much less enamored with her meal which she also deemed average at best. We just had dinner here on an off season while staying next door at the hotel. This place is awesome. Beautiful cabin decor, outstanding staff, and fresh delicious seafood. I ordered the broiled seafood platter ($38), cream of crab soup ($7). My mom ordered the crab cake and crab imperial ($34). My father ordered the 16 oz sirloin ($34). We all shared a crab dip ($14). The portions are perfect, with tons of LUMP crab in each dish. Crab cakes had no filler as did the imperial. The steak was cooked to perfection and juicy. I didn't love the crab dip as I thought it was a bit too cheezy with cheddar however everything else was impeccable. Had a decent experience here with a few bumps. Food is very good, but it is also fairly expensive so I expect excellence. I had the crab cake and it was excellent. Lots of crab meat. Nearly everyone got crab at the table and everyone was happy. Ambiance is great, especially if you get a table with a lake view. Service was friendly, but there were two fairly large snafus over the course of the meal. First, one member of our party had the wrong dish brought out. He had ordered crab imperial and had a crab cake delivered. To her credit our server admitted she had filled in the ticket incorrectly, let him keep the crab cake so he wouldn't be sitting there with no food and rushed to put in the correct order. I felt like it took a while for the correct dish to come out as some were nearly done their meal by the time it appeared, but I'm sure they did all they could to get it pushed out quickly. Secondly, the bottle of wine we ordered was incorrectly billed. A more expensive bottle was put on our tab! We were lucky to catch the mistake as two of us were treating the table for a birthday celebration and did not order the wine. This was also quickly corrected. Either of these mistakes on their own is pretty bad, both together it's awful, especially for one of the (if not the) most expensive restaurants on the lake. I think this is hands down some of the best seafood I have ever had. My boyfriend and I went here this past Friday while we were staying in deep creek for the weekend. My boyfriend for the buffet for $39.95 and almost everything on it was delicious. The pasta dish had tons of seafood in it. The crab dip was out of this world. It was served with crispy bread pieces and full of crab meat. I got the seafood broiled platter. It was $60 which I think is pricy but 100% worth it. It comes with crab imperial, 3 scallops, crab cake, a huge lobster tail, side salad, and your choice of starch or vegetable. I got the twice baked potato and it was good but everything was so delicious I was too full to eat the potato. They also serve you house bread with regular butter and cinnamon butter. They were also delicious. We absolutely going back on Fridays for seafood night and I can't wait! The best part was the bread pudding on the buffet...to die for. They also had huge chocolate covered strawberries on the buffet as well and mini cheesecake tarts. read more

I stopped by here this past Saturday with my fiancé and two other dining companions. We arrived at around noon and walked into a completely empty restaurant. Luckily for us that meant we got to sit by a window with a view of the lake. The restaurant was decorated pretty nicely with white tablecloths on the table and yet still retained a rustic log cabin type feel. For lunch I decided to go with the crab cake sandwich which the menu said came on a kaiser roll and with chips. It also proclaimed the sandwich as their #1 seller. I queried the waitress if the chips were potato chips or fries and was told they were circular but thicker than regular chips. Whenever it came out I saw that the waitress was correct not to call the potatoes potato chips as they were not and also felt disappointed by the size of the crab cake. It was fairly small and was dwarfed by the roll. The disappointment continued whenever I bit into it as the roll was not really toasted and the mushy bread didn't provide a good texture contrast to the crab cake. They could have done much better here if the bun was properly toasted and buttered or even if it wasn't a roll that you could get from the supermarket. The actual crab cake was good whenever I got some as the crab meat was decent sized and sweet. However there just wasn't enough of it and I am not even sure that paying half of the $17 my lunch cost me would have left me satisfied. The potatoes ended up being decent but nothing spectacular. The bottom line for me is that I would not head back here in the future. From what I experienced, we paid more for the view than good food. read more
