Their pricing is also very fair compared to other tamale spots especially considering they put plenty of very tasty meat inside their tamales and many other places basically sell masa torpedoes. Michael and his brother-in-law the other Michael have been running one of the best Orange County trucks for some time now. (63 reviews 4.5 stars), but because of the bureaucratic red tape, they couldn't get their OC truck licensed in LA County. So they added a second truck, just for those of us who live, work and eat north of the Orange Curtain, and it lived up to and exceeded every expectation I had. It may have been the best barbeque sandwich I have ever had. I ordered the "Rhino" which is an enhanced version of their basic pulled Pork/Grilled Cheese. The enhancement is mac and Cheese, stacked into the sandwich. I say stacked because the pork inside the grilled cheese was almost an inch high. They add the BBQ sauce sparingly, but they provide a gallon jug with a pump on top, for you to load up on your own. And it was tender pork, the kind that requires no biting and very little chewing. Too much pork and too much mac for the sandwich to hold. (Be sure to grab a fork). Oh and it is on grilled cheese. Amazingly the whole sandwich is only $8.00--some trucks charge that for grilled cheese alone. But forget about the size for a minute, this is quality pork. One of the Michaels was glad to share the recipe 14 hours of smoking at 225 degrees. 5 stars for quality 5 stars for quantity 5 stars for value 5 stars for service and 5 more stars because I actually dreamed about this sandwich last night. I've never seen a treat truck for doggies before. They had pup cups and other homemade treats at the ready. We picked up a sardine biscuit shaped like a dog bone, made from sardines, flour, and egg. My little guy was very eager to indulge in that treat and devoured it shortly after the photos were taken. Bark Bodega informed us they love the Abbot Kinney community and are frequently in the area. If you have a pup and are nearby, I would highly recommend stopping by to give their treats a try!

Sausage Masters has put up shop at 801 Brand on Tuesdays (they have a great Famer's Market). I also run into them at Venice beach and the Flower District on weekends. They have fantastic service and a wide array of grilled sausages for any palette. I suggest trying their sausages with the peppers and onions, and their delicious drinks! Oddly enough, we didn't really think about it until we were putting our kiddo to sleep. I checked out their page and learned that they were 15 minutes away for only 30 more minutes. Thank goodness our little one went down easy and my mom was game to stay at the hotel with him. We raced away and made it just in time! In fact, they closed their window right after we placed our order. We decided to get a spread of food and really go all out. Here's what we had. Chilaquiles (current special) - Chips loaded with two different salsas, egg and chicken. I was totally in love with the way the chips absorbed the salsas. They were perfectly soggy in just the right way and I absolutely can't describe. Both salsas complimented each other so well and the Chicken was very tender. This was definitely my favorite of what we had. Tacos - One calamari and one short Rib. The calamari was for hubby. He said it was it's so so. But we both enjoyed the short Rib, especially my husband! Chili Chicken Quesadilla - You can't really go wrong with a quesadilla. But made this one extra awesome with a the sweet and hot chili sesame sauce they drizzle on top. So good! Pacman Burger - There's no actual patty for this burger. It's more Ike a pile of shredded meat. It also had some seasoned mayo on top that helped to make the bun nice and soggy. This was hubby's favorite for sure! Sriracha Bar - I really wanted the Chocolate Tres Leches Cake, but it had already sold out. This was clearly the second choice and not as exciting. The base of it (I.e. 90% of it) were these little crispy balls that didn't want to hold the shape of the bar and crumbled the second I picked it up. I mostly just ate the layer of caramel and chocolate on top. This was a very fun adventure and we totally enjoyed trying something new!

It being a street taco stand, I don't think it's going to have outstanding service, but the workers there do an admirable job of taking your order, having a very well lit stall, and the line moved pretty quickly. My wife ordered the quesadilla which she liked, and she especially liked how fredh the onion and cilantro was. We had an epic time eating it on the back of a car trunk.

I thought it was gonna take forever but they got everything out efficiently. Props to the cooks for knocking out the small orders (like mine) and still getting the big order out fast.

Whole process was easy. There was no line so we just walked up and ordered our tamales. They take cash or Zelle. I just finished up eating around the corner so I wasn't hungry. I just wanted some tamales to take home. I got a chile/cheese tamal and a chicken with red sauce. I also want to try one of the dessert tamales (raisin). I thought they were all pretty darn good.
