Well, my wife and I couldn't decide on a restaurant for breakfast so we decided on giving New Eagle Cafe another shot. We had to ask for water refills, coffee refills, take out containers and the check. You would think that after asking for containers to take home leftovers they would automatically give us the check, but no, it took us another 10 minutes to flag our server down. The last time I came here I Yelped on how slow the service is and things haven't changed. But, on the plus side was that our breakfast was really delicious. My wife had the Belgium waffle special that came with eggs and ham. I had the loco moco and it was absolutely delicious, maybe my new favorite. That hamburger patty was homemade and juicy, the gravy was pretty good too. A side of Mac salad would have been nice though. read more

Food: food is always amazing i can't complain about that. Service: i can't really say it was amazing, it took our server(sua) about 10-12 minutes to take our order, we kinda felt ignored by her. There was another server who came by to ask if we needed more water or coffee. Our server(sua) only came at the last minute to refill my pepsi and my mother in law's pepsi. While we were leaving she came outside to give me my mothers in laws ipad and she complained about the tip my fiancee had left and came to my car and demanded we fix it because it was too little. Tip means (to improve performance). If we felt like she did a good job then of course we would have tipped. We have no problem tipping if the service is good. But for her to say thats not right is really messed up and i hope she gets talked too about it. Great local food at great price. The menu has local food, including Asian dishes. There are plenty of tables so the wait time is minimal. Most times you walk in and get a table right away. There are enough parking in front. If not you can always go to the parking structure. This restaurant can accommodate large groups. I've been to New Eagle Cafe a couple of times for breakfast only and I can't believe I didn't write a review yet. Well if you don't know where New Eagle Cafe is at, they're located on Nimitz hwy by the He is greater than I store. You can't miss it, you'll see them from the street. When you walk in, the staff was really nice and they sat us fairly quickly each time we're gone for breakfast. I always go back to get the Kamaboko Omlete which is the bomb. I love me some Kamaboko and when I saw that as an omlete I had to try it and I love it. The food doesn't take too long to come out. The omlete comes with hash browns and they're very good too. Pricing is average ranging anywhere from about $9 to about $18 depending on what you get. The staff kept our coffees full throughout the whole time and never had to really wait for anything. I remcomened going on Sat and Sun because you can get fried rice rather than white rice. Overall, I like New Eagle Cafe and I'm always wanting to go for breakfast if I'm in the area. read more

This is an old school restaurant. Decor is old, lighting dim. Place does need a makeover. It could look cleaner in there. Servers are okay. That's a hit and miss. Some are good and some are bad. The bad ones don't check on you and forget things. We've had both unfortunately. Menu is large. Food is okay, nothing fantastic, but not terrible either. We've had the Ono with a caper sauce, Chinese chicken salad, hamburgers, chicken soup, etc. Tried a bunch of stuff over the years. Also had the prime rib which was good. This is an okay place to eat don't expect anything out of the ordinary. If they had a makeover to make it look better, and got rid of the servers who are bad at their job. Ick. I used a Groupon to get a couple of to-go orders. Chicken curry katsu and loco moco. Both were very blah -- needed seasoning. I give them credit for huge portions ... of very blah tasting food. The loco moco was decent with mild taste in the gravy and burger. I had to add salt and pepper to liven it up. The chicken curry katsu was really bad. Hardly any curry taste at all -- certainly nothing close to what I was expecting having eaten Japanese curry katsu many a time. Most definitely not worth the Groupon cost. Upon arriving it was very crowded which sometimes means "very good". Ate in here a few times in the past six months. Today, we had breakfast with my granddaughter and she ordered Little Hotcakes with strawberries which arrived with no strawberries. The Little hotcakes was raw batter on the inside so we returned it and did not want a replacement. The older Asian waitress, I thought, was very rude to my wife. I've always passed this restaurant on Nimitz, but never stopped to eat here. I bought a Groupon so we decided to stop in for dinner tonight. They close at 9p and we got there at 820p. There was a table of 4 and us. It was really quiet, and REALLY eerie! The only sound was the banging of dishes in the kitchen and the Korean soap opera the waitress was watching. The busboy dropped off our menus and soon after the waitress comes to take our order. We weren't ready so I told her, "2 minutes, please." The cook says something to her and she yells back at him, "They said 2 minutes!" I guess they wanted to go home. So we quickly ordered and the food came out in no time. She checked on us a few times so I told my boyfriend to hurry up. By this time they shut off some of the lights and the kitchen was dark. I looked at the clock and it was exactly 9p. I guess everyone went home. ‍ This entire dining experience deserves 1 star. However, the food was ok... we got hamburger steak and pork cutlet. The pumpkin crunch for dessert was tasty, but I wouldn't recommend it for people with weak teeth because it's pretty hard. I don't think I'd go back again, even with a Groupon. read more

My friend grew up dining at this restaurant. So we went to check it out. This is true home cooking and the prices are so reasonable. We came for lunch. It was a big crowd of twelve. The restaurant was great and was able to accommodate us as a group. I was so grateful as I was only in town for a day and some of my friends I haven't seen for a year. Two of us. Had the Ono fish sandwich with a side salad. The side salad was large and the house dressing was like a French dressing, served on the side. Two others had the burger. It was freshly made burger. You could tell because it wasn't perfectly round like pre-formed frozen burgers. They said it was delicious. Another ordered oxtail soup and he said it was the real deal. So glad to see Eagle Cafe open for business again! The renovations the new owner has made is great - nice and bright and social distancing rules in effect. I got the prime rib, which was delicious, but it was weird to me to have it with rice and mac salad...that was a first for me! My mom got the prime rib as well. Both were cooked perfectly (medium rare for me and medium for mom). My sis got a cheeseburger and fries. It was pretty standard but tasty just the same. We'll be back to try some crispy pata and lechon kawali for sure...Alonzo's was a favorite spot years ago and I've heard they're the new owners. Support local. It matters. read more

I rarely come to New Eagle Cafe. My family is visiting and they like this place. I live here, and I drive by it all the time but never eat here. First, we got there and there were only 3 sets of utensils and napkins when there were 5 of us. Two of us never received our napkins or utensils until after we ate our appetizers. I had to wipe my hands on my clothes. Eek! We ordered and I got the prime rib dinner with mashed potato. It was very good! My family member also order mashed potato, but they got rice. We told the waitress, so she took back the rice and never brought the mashed potato until we had to flag her down and remind her. I ordered a slice of custard pie, and there was a chunk of the pie missing! I tried to tell the waitress, but she just ignored me and walked away. I laughed and laughed and told my family that they must have a rat problem! hahaha! The dinner was surprisingly good, and the chicken yakitori also looked good! The prime rib was $22.50 and the chicken yakitori was $13.50. Prices were not bad and it was quite a bit, and I only ate half and took the other half home. I come here becuz I only eat one item here and I personally like it. I'm pretty much a regular there but only for that and one other item. Service sucks like the other person wrote. If they're busy - bad gets worse. I was surprised when one table surprised a waitress with her birthday and gave her a gift. Most of them have no personality and are not friendly. I get it, it's a crap job and their feet and back aches. So I no longer except friendly service and I'm cool with that. It's also bad about 2-pmish when they are cashing out. They want their money and customers can wait as they figure out their tips - so just wait! The other major beef I have is with their Micronesian bus-boy/man (he wears a Micro t-shirt) - that f-er one time bused my food I was going take home cuz I stepped away for one minute and it was more than half. When I came back and saw the empty table I caught his eye and pointed to my table (he was on the other side of the room) and all he did was grin and laugh over and over. There was a lot of fresh and perfectly done colorful veggies. She chose brown rice which is an option for starch. I wasn't feeling to good so I opted for the Udon. Nothing special but perfect for what it is. A simple broth with udon noodles, with a few pieces of fish cake and char siu. I don't remember the exact price but I know it was $7 and some change. If you chose to stop in at this time, it is relaxing and you can feel free to take your time. I loved it. There was only a few tables filled. If you like the atmosphere of a nice clean diner that sells close to home cooked comfort food. I recommend you stop by and support this establishment. I gave it four stars for a diner kind of place. It is casual simple home food. The menu is very expansive and has Japanese choices as well. The servings are very generous and I recommend getting a complete meal with salad and dessert and a drink for six dollars more. The salad is simple but it was very fresh. I did not find any brown pieces of lettuce., which I can't stand. If I find brown wilted lettuce I do not go back to that restaurant. Service was fast and very good but we did not go at a busy time. My grandma said the chop steak was just right and the meat was NOT tough. She did say it had a lot of onions but she likes vegetables more than meat. It came out piping hot on a cast iron plate. After missing the driveway entrance on our first pass, we circled back and turned into the parking lot and had no problems getting a space in front. On this Monday evening, we met friends here for dinner. The restaurant is large with a mixture of booths and tables. What I did notice was that a lot of locals dine here. After checking the menu, we also noticed the daily specials placard on the table. The day's special was Ox Tail Stew. As Ox Tail Stews lovers, several of us ordered it. With a coupon from a local paper, we also got soup or salad and a soda. I opted for the beef barley soup. It had good flavor and was hearty. The Oxtail Stew consisted of five good size pieces and in a nice tomato based sauce. It had carrots and celery, but I didn't get any potatoes, which my friend's did get.
