What a find! Get the lobster roll or the seafood platter, you will NOT be disappointed. This is the juiciest, freshest and biggest lobster roll you will ever have - at $31 dollars, it's worth every penny. The seafood platter is huge: haddock, scallops, shrimp, clams... and the light batter doesn't take anything away from the taste. Even the cole slaw, tartar sauce and shrimp cocktail sauces were to die for. We're locals and always wondered why this place is so packed. Now, we know. Last dinner for Maine 2021 for my family and me, and after seeing a couple hundred very positive Yelp reviews, we decided to end with some seafood just like when we started our week at Red's Eats (see my review!). We made a very good choice this evening. You know a restaurant must be good when there's a constant flow of customers coming to the takeout window, and a bunch more waiting for one of the very few coveted booths inside in the air conditioned room. Thankfully, there was one last booth available when we pulled in a little after 5pm on a Friday afternoon. The very friendly staff and we had a discussion about how we were the third family from Philadelphia or Pennsylvania recently, and also why was lobster prices skyrocketing. They just yesterday rose the price of all lobster meals by $5 due to their wholesale prices going up for several weeks in a row from their supplier. Even with this upcharge, three of four of us got a lobster meal; one had a cup of lobster stew, one had a bowl, and I had a lobster salad. It was the same price as the lobster roll but was on a nice bed of greens, tomatoes, and onions. The lobster also had a nice light mix of mayonnaise but you can get it without if you wanted. The stews were very rich and buttery creamy, and both had huge chunks of lobster claw and "a lot of lobster" as my daughter said. Both kids could not finish their stews allowing me to get more on top of my generous lobster portion salad. The stews also had nothing else besides lobster within. Just butter, cream, and lobster. They all came with crackers and a roll. My wife started with a garden salad, which in essence was what I had minus the lobster, and a packet of Ken's dressing on the side. Then she had the fried haddock which is all you can eat on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. When it came, we first thought it was three large pieces of haddock with French fries but we were mistaken; it was four beautiful pieces. How anyone could eat more than what was on that plate to earn another serving must have two stomachs. My wife could not finish the fish, and the rest of us helped out to at least cover the fish so we did not have to bring any home. We also had a portion of crispy onion rings. Although we didn't order it, we did see another table have the fried seafood platter. "It's Huge!" The plate it's served on must be 24" in diameter, and loaded with four different types of fried seafood. It's meant to be shared, and probably for more than two. It sure looked good but I know the four of us would not be able to tackle this bounty today. Maybe for next time. Pepsi products here...booooo! All staff was very accommodating and friendly. We even gave our waitress some memories of pies from her childhood from a old roadside stand. $125 for a bowl and cup of lobster stew, lobster salad, haddock fish fry, onion rings, side salad, and four drinks. We had a very good last Maine meal. When we left, the side of the road parking lot was completely full, the customers were still lined up waiting to get inside, and a steady flow of others were at the takeout window. Many out of state license plates, but a good amount of Mainers here; the locals must know that this is the place to be so you need to be here, too. read more

In Bangor area for business and like to support the locals. I had a hinkering for a lobster roll and decided to check this place out. It was well worth the stop. True "locals" place. Was hopping before noon on a Monday. One of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. The lobster was sweet and tasty. The portion was huge. I love the "very little mayo" so I can just focus on the sweet lobster. The New England bun was buttered and grilled perfectly. It came with fries and slaw for $31. Outstanding. 10/10 ! From service to food. Everything was absolutely amazing ! We got a lobster roll and fried Haddock sandwhich with onion rings. One of the workers told us about a park down the street we could stop at and enjoy our food outside. We even placed a second order later that day and tried the lobster grill cheese and chocolate cake. We also got a second order of friend onion rings. It is a smaller restaurant so get there early ! We made it about 30 minutes after opening and the parking lot was mostly packed. However the Togo service was quick. The service was amazing ! We were greeted when placing our Togo order and given a breakdown of the menu. She even brought our food out to our car. I didn't get her name but she made the visit definitely worth it. Most amazing hole in the wall seafood restaurant ever. This place is tiny with limited seating. The parking is similar. The place is so small you might drive by it. The service was amazing, you can actually see all the staff from the table we were sitting at. The waitress was very friendly and we even joked about the river behind it. They also have a walk up take out window that faces the parking lot. This place was recommended by the locals. We were in town for a DMB concert and we were staying at a fantastic campground about 10 mins from here. We ordered a the must have recommended lobster rolls, fish, fries, chowder and a seafood chowder. This is hands down the biggest baddest lobster roll that I have ever seen. It was enough for three new England rolls, I had to eat most of it with my fork. The lobster was so tender and juicy, it was an explosion of taste. The fish was huge and eas flaky on the outside and very moist and tender inside. The fries were overwhelming with the size enough for a family. I was visiting a close friend of mine in ME and this restaurant was highly recommended. We ordered the seafood platter which was plentiful. I had not sampled the scallops but my friend quietly called over the waitress and advised her that there was something wrong with them. He told her to take a quick sniff and she instantly said there was nothing wrong and that they were 'delicious'. After she left I took another scallop and sliced it and took a whiff. The smell was beyond shocking and I almost begin to wretch. As a physician this was most concerning to me and it was evident that they were bad. Needless to say we did not touch any of them. This was my first stop in Maine for a lobster roll and it was EASILY the BEST lobster roll I had in all of Maine. They give so much lobster meat that you might as well ask for a second roll of bread because there is enough meat for two sandwiches. I had come in from driving through the Appalachian panhandle through southern Quebec and central Maine and stopped off here for lunch on my way to Bar Harbor. So, so delicious. Best lobster roll in Maine. At first, the place is very unassuming...if you're not looking for it you might drive past thinking it's like a biker bar or something. Limited parking, very few seats indoors...had to wait outside for like 20 minutes, but it was worth every damned minute. We ordered the seafood platter...it was abundant, fresh, and made to perfection. Now: the lobster roll. Expensive...but also worth it. It rivals any other roll I've had in New England. Great scallop roll and fries, decent lobster roll. Scallop roll comes with 4 large, breaded and fried scallops. The scallops are super tender and the batter is seasoned well. Lobster roll was fresh but despite having a moderate amount of mayo on it, was not seasoned well. Of course, you get the flavor of the lobster itself, but it just needed a touch of salt to bring out that natural flavor. I almost never salt a lobster roll, but I did here. The other complaint I have about many places that serve lobster rolls is that the amount of lobster is unnecessary. If it's piled high and you have to eat some of it separate from the roll, I'd rather pay a lower price for less lobster. Cole slaw was mayo-heavy and a little sweet, not my preferred slaw style but decent. The fried food that other tables had looked really good, so I'd consider coming back to try some of that. Seemed like that's what the locals/regulars were going for. Service was prompt and all the employees were very nice. Ok... So, this place is the highest rated place for lobster rolls on the Bangor area, so much so that it's actually in Brewer, but it's just ok. Now, most Mainers are all about quantity over quality, and I assume that's why it's rated so high. The lobster roll was a monster, like 3x the amount for almost double the price. So, while it was the biggest lobster roll I have ever ever ever seen, it was also the most expensive at $31. The other issue is the lobster was dry. Does that make sense? I've never had dry lobster, and I don't mean because I use butter and not mayo. I mean the meat was dry and all turned pink. It's usually red on the outside and white inside. Again, it wasn't old tasting or fishy. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I'm used to and not what I'd call good either. While I really hoped to go to town on this monster, I was full and bored about halfway through. I'm not trying to be mean, but it just wasn't worth pushing it. My husband had a fish burger, which again was massive--two full size haddock slabs on top of each other. My husband isn't exactly a light eater, and he was full halfway through. The fish (I tried it) was better quality than the lobster and still about double the price of your typical fish burger, but with the double amount, that makes sense. The drawback here is that the fish (the batter maybe) had a lingering taste of all the other seafood it's was fried with--maybe the oil was old? Also, while the staff was super nice and the food was out lightning quick, they didn't know the ingredients of some of their menu items, which is problematic since my son has food allergies and therefore couldn't order. They told us we could bring in food for him. Again, they're super nice. So there's a huge plus for staff and speed. Pros: Staff Speed Amount of food if that's you're thing--it's not for me; I'd prefer less food at a better quality than wasting a large amount I won't finish. Very fresh tasting lobster. Ordered the Lobster roll, lobster grilled cheese, lobster stew and haddock dinner. They had very large lobster claw chunks in everything, and it was all very buttery and homey. Although the place was rather small and we had to wait for a seat (even at 3pm), service was very nice, the lady made a lot of conversation, and there was an amazing view from the building. We are on the road and started to look up restaurants to stop at for lunch. This place happened to be less than a mile down the road - I saw the great reviews and photos of lobster which we were craving, and did a last second pull-in and park. We are all SO glad we did. Not only was the service amazing, the food was delicious and extremely good quality. The staff here (both service and kitchen) definitely know what they're doing. The ambiance was very peaceful, and the restaurant was about 2/3 full at noon when we arrived. My man and I shared a lobster BLT and a scallop roll, and his family got a couple of other sandwiches and the only reason our plates weren't completely empty was because we were full. The restaurant specializes in seafood, particularly lobster, clams, shrimp, and haddock. We ordered a lobster roll and the smaller portion of their fried clams.
