Like other reviews will say, there's nothing really amazing about the pho here, but it's pretty tasty regardless! I first came here and ordered the Old Town Pho. Really good noodles, clean taste (meaning not an abundance of oil in the broth), good portions; just overall good. Second visit with the wife, I ordered the Spicy Hue (pronounced 'who way') and man it was good! It comes with soft, thicker noodles than you'd find in pho, good slices of meat, and pig's feet. I normally don't venture down that path, but I'm glad I tried the pig's feet. The wife ordered the grilled pork vermicelli and this was also very good! Meat was grilled nicely and the noodles and veggies gave it a nice, clean taste to it. Always appreciate the complementary shrimp crackers! The staff is very nice and they like to explain the dishes and offer their recommendations. They also treated us to a complementary flan, which was tasty. I'm not an expert on flan, but it was good nonetheless. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good Vietnamese cuisine. Venture outside of pho and try their other dishes. Stumbled across this Vietnamese place after my mom was craving some pho. And it did not disappoint! We arrived around 3:45 on a Thursday so the service was quick. We ordered the Pho Old Town and it was delicious. Before receiving the check, they gave us each a complimentary flan which was DELICIOUS! This is the best pho restaurant in Fairfax old town! My boyfriend and I are regular customers and we always get a desert on the house. The pho old town is what I always get. It has a lot more good stuff than your average pho. The appetizers are bigger and it tastes fresher. The overall presentation is cleaner too! Finally I found a great vegetarian pho option near my house. We went on a Friday evening and got a table without a wait with wonderful service. That was the best for me. I get tired waiting in huge queues outside restaurants for a table on weekends. This was a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious too. We had an egg noodles pho and lemongrass vermicelli. There are a million pho places in Nova but it's the little things that make east wind a standout. Little touches like a free flan or shrimp chips are more than what you would expect for a lunch special and the pho sprouts, jalapeño slices and basil are always very fresh. Most delicious Vietnamese food in the area. Had the summer rolls, pork vermicelli, and various desserts. Service is always friendly, always get more food than expected. The only downside is that it is in downtown Fairfax and the parking can be a pain, especially with the construction. However we were lucky the past couple of times. read more

Being both huge fans of pho and trying new restaurants, we were excited about checking this place out after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. We started off with complimentary crunchy shrimp chips and two dipping sauces (One of which was very spicy, which we loved). We ordered the vegetarian pho, shaky beef, and summer rolls. I've tried a lot of pho places, but the broth was especially flavorful and full of all kinds of vegetables like broccoli, carrots, etc. The shaky beef was excellent as well! The meat was so tender and came with a delicious lemon pepper sauce. The summer rolls we ordered had BOTH shrimp and pork, and the peanut sauce that came with them was mouth-watering. Since I ordered the lunch special (which included the pho and the summer rolls), we also got flan at the end of our meal. Flan is similar to a custard tart and was really yummy! The owners of this place were extremely friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back as it has become one of our favorites for Vietnamese food! read more

We went there a few weeks ago. The food was delicious, especially the Clay Pot. It was full of tasty seafood, chicken,and meat over a bed of fragrant rice. The service was slow, like others have said. I understand that this can happen, but apparently it happened because one of the wait staff forgot to put our order in for our main entrees. The owner though apologized and he gave us the meal for free- everything including the appetizers. This shows that the owner really wants everyone to be happy. I am looking forward to my next visit back. I think you should give it a try too! read more

I had a really great experience at East Wind. The staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. The broth of the Pho was light, and I liked that the broth was not greasy like other Pho restaurants I have tried. I also ordered their crispy noodles with seafood dish. The seafood sauce was delicious, and I liked how they used large shrimps. The portions here are pretty big, and that is always a plus. One downside I would say is that the street parking is very limited, so you may want to come a little early to look for parking. read more

This restaurant is one of my favorites. The manager/owner is extremely nice and will give us free dessert. The waiters are nice as well and ask if we need anything more and very helpful in giving us tips on how to eat specific foods or just showing us the way to the restroom. I have tried numerous pho places, and there is something in common in most places, the broth tend to be different sometimes (same pho places, but inconsistent broth). Base on my first experience here, the pho broth is blant, maybe the broth today happens to be not that great? The yelp reviews on here suggested the broth is great, so I'm not going to penalized a business base on my one time experience here, since I have also had bad broth at one of my favorite pho place before. I will update my review next time I come here. Other than the broth being okay, the service here was great, I was seated quickly and they gave me a free shrimp cracker appetizer and dessert. I definitely recommend this place just due to its great service and freebies. the only downside was the pho broth, I don't like to add sauce to my broth, I prefer the original taste of the broth. Absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious (a bit pricier Pho, but huge portions -- well worth it). VERY clean restaurant and immaculate bathrooms too. Very nice art and atmosphere too. Although we were the only diners there on a Sunday evening, we still enjoyed our experience. One of the owners even tuned on one of the TVs to cartoons for my young son (he was being a bit fussy). They also gave us dessert on the house. Very warm and friendly staff. They said they do a busy lunch, but I hope more people start going here for dinner as it is a nice sit-down vietnamese restaurant that is much better than any of the other Pho places around. Service was AMAZEBALLS! The pho was great! I love the broth. Man and I walked in to find the place very clean and big. It's in old town Fairfax so thought it would be a small place but once inside it's a pretty good size! Could have a birthday celebration here! They provide complimentary shrimp crackers which are deliciously airy and crisp. I like to order the chicken vermicelli bowl and can eat the whole bowl without feeling bloated. The chicken is marinated well and flavourful. After the meal we are also given a complimentary flan, which is delicious! Service has gotten a lot better. The first time I went service was very slow but the staff was attentive. Luckily, I wasn't in a rush. Since then, service has been a lot faster. Easily my favorite Pho restaurant in town. The Pho old town comes with a variety of delicious meats. The staff are all incredably friendly and over the many times I've visited have been nothing short of excellent. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable, and they also have an excellent lunch deal of an appetizer, entree and drink for $10 and some change. I liked it! I think this place is better than any pho places in the immediate area (FFX city) and offers much more variety on the menu than any "just pho" places around. I had pho and it was a very good mix with plenty of onions! I love onions! Lots of meat! Good broth! Also had the papaya salad. A little bland but I'm use the ass kickin hot Thai style so......but I did like the grilled shrimp and shrimp chips. My friend had the curry chicken. Pretty good but not as good as an authentic Thai curry chicken and the potatoes were a little bit under cooked. If you get the curry anything, ask them to cook the potatoes a bit longer.
