I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've driven past this place since I was a kid and I finally got to try them! I enjoyed their veggie omelette with home style potatoes and rye bread. I like how the potatoes were closer to hash brown style than just cubes. It was seasoned well and hit the spot. I also ordered a short stack of buttermilk pancakes which were also solid! Their house salsa complimented the omelette and was so tasty. Service was attentive and friendly from the hosts to the wait staff. I got lucky a found parking right up front but they do have a parking lot. The place is clean and they play good music. My first time wasn't too bad at all, I might pay another visit in the future.

We used to live in Redondo Beach and would eat here all the time. We were visiting CA recently and wanted to eat here again. I loved the new outside patio (new to us) I didn't realize there was new ownership, but that would explain why the food didn't taste the same as it did in the past. I thought they used to have hash browns, everything came with home fries. Didn't see that on the menu. Still good, just not as good. No wait on a Saturday around 9:30 which was great.

Classic American diner with large portions and many seats. Did not wait on a Sunday morning for five people. The breakfast burrito is extremely filling. They have a healthy menu if you're into whole wheat and egg white. Food is tasty, but nothing very special. Service is a bit slow. The green juice comes out of a bottle instead of being homemade. Would not recommend the loco moco, tastes like gravy on rice with dry patty.

Didn't realize there was a change of ownership which may explain why there wasn't a line to get in. They used to have senior specials and they only have an egg senior special which my friend ordered. I had the waffle combo and the waffle was very good. So were the eggs and sausage. Service was average.

Took the pup for some fun time at the dog park about a mile away when hunger pangs came through, and since he was with me, dog-friendly eatery was the only way to go. And that's how we ended up here. Lucky enough to find street parking right up front. Checked in up front and immediately asked the host for patio seating since I came through with my fur baby. "Sure!" A blink and a half later, we were seated at a corner. I liked how all the tables and chairs were spaced out well. I got the chance to look at the menu so I knew exactly what I wanted: 2 eggs and chicken fried steak (with sunny side up eggs and sourdough toast.) Informed Chelsea, my server that I wasn't interested in the home fries and since I didn't want to waste it, they didn't need to add it on. She asked if I wanted a sub for it, "... cottage cheese? Fruit, maybe?" (Didn't know that was an option!) I went for the cottage cheese, why not. And an Arnold Palmer to wash it all down. I was a bit surprised my food came through a little fast, but I didn't mind: I was hungry! I liked that the gravy wasn't poured on top of the steak (I forgot to ask for it on the side) so yay! I started off with the cottage cheese, then moved on to the toast. Eggs were cooked to a perfect sunny side up. The steak, however, I felt was rushed. The batter was under seasoned as with the gravy. I thought maybe to have water to cleanse the palate, but nope. The flavor stayed the same. Dashed both thoroughly with salt and pepper and made a difference. But then, the steak was a bit tough, too... so, not great, overall. FOOD: 2.5. SERVICE: 5. Chelsea is fantastic at her job. She checked on me, gave napkins without asking, etc. There was service with a beautiful smile. But the cherry on top: I needed to use the bathroom but couldn't leave the pup and she volunteered to keep an eye on him while I go. I ended up not needing it, but the fact she volunteered?! Awesome. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Private lot and street available. Not an issue when we came through around 1130am-ish on a Saturday. OVERALL: 3.5. There's a reason why they're popular so will most likely come back and try something else.

Eat At Joe's is one of those old school local favorite breakfast spots and was established in 1969. Apparently decades ago John Wayne visited here while filming and Joe made John's breakfast whatever he wanted it - hence the John Wayne Special was born and has become one of the signature dish at this spot. The children of Joe Filkosky (the founder) sold the business to Alex and Michele Jordan in the late 90's. In August 2024, the business was sold to Patrick Mescall and Brian Eldridge who also own other businesses such as the Torrance Tavern, the Hula Hula Room, the Bounty Room, Patty O'Brien's on Aviation Boulevard, and the Sly Fox in Lawndale. [Parking]: Easy and free street parking on weekdays and they have a small designated parking lot. [Atmosphere]: The restaurant was quite busy on a typical weekday morning. Just walk in, grab any available tables, and get one of the staff's attention. There's also a section with an outdoor tent. [Menu]: Top three highlighted dishes by Yelp are John Wayne Special, Breakfast Burrito, and French Toast. The staff will ask how you want your egg prepared - over easy/medium/hard, scrambled, sunny-side up, poached, etc. For toast choice, you can choose white toast, sourdough, wheat, rye, squaw, gluten free bread, etc. For cheese choice, you can choose Jack, Mozzarella, Cheddar, American, Feta, Parmesan, Shredded, and Swiss. *** John Wayne Special (Two eggs over medium, with cheese, on home fries and a tortilla, smothered in spanish sauce, and surrounded with sausage - egg = over-medium, & toast = sourdough, $16): Huge portion and enough to split into breakfast and lunch. It didn't take too long for the kitchen to prepare the order. While the dish looked gooey, sloppy, and messy, it actually tasted pretty solid! Fresh brewed coffee ($4.50): I ordered a cup of coffee and my waitress was quick on refill. She even asked if I want a complimentary cup of coffee before leaving and it was a nice & surprising gesture. *** Overall an absolutely classic diner spot with tons of nostalgia & glimpse of South Bay history. A-tier on food, a-tier on service, and s-tier on value.

I had been wanting to try this place for a very long time now. We had orientation at the high school next door so we decided to finally stop by. Service was a 10/10 !! Greeted as soon as we were seen coming in. It was very packed, it was a Thursday 10am. There seemed to be a lot of regulars, they were on a first name basis with the waitresses. Felt very much like home. My avocado toast and pancakes were great. Their hot salsa was a 10/10, it tasted very homemade!! My daughter got a cheeseburger, she's a very picky eater and she loved it! My son got a burrito which he really enjoyed too. They have outdoor seating too, which was also full. But has a very nice setting. Highly recommend!! We will definitely be back!!

Got the two eggs with bacon breakfast. Good tasting breakfast. I normally get hash browns with my breakfast. However, the waitress explained that on holidays or the day after, hash browns may not be available. So, home fries by default. The home fries were crispy and definitely can start to fill you up before eating the other items. Service was very friendly and prompt.

I really enjoyed this place's authentic feel as an old school diner. The staff were friendly, the food was great and the place was filled with people having a great time and enjoying a great meal. You will not leave hungry with the big portions too!

Wow this place was amazing the omelette was huge and tasty. The young lady that served me was extremely attentive and polite. This little diner is well worth the experience.

Chilaquiles w/ over easy eggs and half an avocado.

I've been going here since my last review 2 to 3 times a week. Today there was a hiccup, I sat down, with the hostess allowing me to go to an open table. Then 15 minutes or more pass and finally when the manager walked by I told her that nobody came to take my order. She told me the coffee is on me. It was so noisy I thought she said it's on me, I'm like wow that's too good. I went to the register and told the manager I left the tip in cash. As I went out the front door I was listening for any reaction in case I misunderstood (and of course I had, Murphy's law). I heard Sir you haven't paid - quite embarrassed I gave her my credit card - really embarrassing - I guess my gut reaction was that a free cup of coffee wasn't much of an apology , but a comped breakfast was expecting way too much. Freudian slip on my part. Just note that at the Good Stuff down the road and across the street I've accumulated a lot of free food credits - a lot. And they don't address people as Sir there especially when you frequent them- they are more personal- you should check this out if you haven't already- the public parking though can set you back bc it adds up - it's $2 an hour at the meter.

Located on the corner of PCH and avenue C, Phanny's has been a staple in the breakfast burrito game. I have been coming here years ago, but have not been in a min. Welp, I had an urge to get a breakfast burrito and Phanny's is the first place that will come to mind. I ended up ordering a bacon, sausage egg breakfast burrito with diced jalapeños. PHEWWWW. Wow Phanny. You did it again girl. WOW. 5 big booms all AROUND. There is no salsa needed. The flavor from the meat is enough. The perfect amount of saltiness, the perfect tortilla, the right amount of meat to egg ratio. This burrito did it for me. The added jalapeños add that extra spice and crunch. I love crunchy texture so the jalapeños def hit that need for me personally, and plus its a nice kick to it if you like spicy! Just do yourself a favor and try Phanny's out. Service was swift and kind. They are fully takeout only. I am unsure if this was a conversion after COVID or not, but it's a little sad to see you are not able to enjoy their breakfast burritos fresh and hot there. I believe there is only 1 outside bench seating off Avenue C. They do take apple pay, which I feel like they did not in the past. so no cash needed! There is a parking lot being the business off avenue C which is nice so you do not need to park on PCH or in the neighborhood to try to get to this business. I will def be coming back to Phanny's soon. Unfortunately no pictures because I scarfed it down. its one of those, love at first bite. it was our honeymoon night and I devoured the burrito. no crumbs left behind. no ketchup or salsa required.

The sausage was slightly too salty for my taste. * Carne asada burrito ($14.75): This is definitely the one to get - amazing carne asada and a soft wrap. The price-to-portion ratio is a bit too high to come here regularly, but it is still a solid staple for anyone looking for an above-average breakfast burrito in the South Bay.

At many brunch restaurants, you can sometimes sense when the basics -- like pancakes or French toast -- aren't given the attention they deserve. After a long drive, we were hungry, as we hadn't stopped to eat on the way. Anyway, when we arrived, it was just after 10PM on a Friday night. Though the area was bustling, we were able to find easy street parking less than a block away. The restaurant was busy, but there were plenty of open tables. The place had a bit of the old diner type of vibe, but it was definitely more upscale and modern. We were greeted and seated right away. As we sat down, I saw some of the food being brought out and everything looked great. The menu was quite vast, so it took some time to decide. We decided to start out with the California Tots. They were a huge plate of crispy tots with cheese sauce, bacon and lots of other toppings. It was probably enough for us to share for dinner. However, I then had my mind set on the Tuna Manhattan, which was sort of a fancy tuna melt. The offered a regular tuna melt (off menu) if I preferred. The Tuna Manhattan was served on a bun with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a huge slice of avocado. It came with a side salad, fries, or soup. They also offered me some other sides I could substitute as well, such as onion rings or sweet potato fries. When I asked about the soup selection, they gave me four I could choose from. I ordered the French Onion. Anyway, the portions were generous and everything was delicious. It was also a great value for the amount and quality of food. The Kettle is open 24 hours. If you ever want late night (or anytime) eats in Manhattan Beach, I highly recommend The Kettle for a good solid meal.
