a take out box of food
    Alice M.

Ordered this through Uber Eats, and loved how customizable everything was! After eating takeout for almost a week while our house was dealing with a burst pipe, I was in need of something light and healthy, but still feeling! I made a custom bowl of rice, beans, greens, and their house sauce, which was a little acidic for me, but overall, still very good! Packaging was also decent- no extra waste and a paper takeout box.

pretty good! quick service, nice employees. I got the samurai bowl; very filling/nourishing, really good sauce - reminds me of korean bbq sauce. I probably wouldn't get that particular bowl again, kinda disappointed with the bok choy serving, but i'd recommend checking this place out! very cute!

Green Monster bowl w/ chicken and Sriracha. $9

Simple wholesome food with really flavorful sauces. The concept of a rice bowl isn't new, but Eat Well's rendition is pretty decent and filling. I can actually get two meals out of one bowl. I think the best deals are their special bowls. Go for the Green Monster - it has kale, cilantro, avocado, green onions, green sauce along with beans and rice. It's very herby and earthy, a combination I really like. Top it off with some chicken and Sriracha, and you're good to go. That green sauce is delicious by the way. They also have kombucha on tap but they always seem to run out when I'm there! Service could be a little better as well. Make sure they get your name if you wander off or your bowl could just be sitting on their work table for awhile.

I have officially tried every bowl on the menu and I love each and every one of them!

Awesome, fresh bowl, it was prepared in just a matter of 2 minutes. Polite service with a smile goes a long way in the food cart arena. You can customize your bowl and mix and match additions/condiments if your taste buds don't align with the out of the box 'specialty' menu. Plus, how can you not add chicken for only $2?

Alright! So i was so excited to see a new cart at our favorite lot on Division, and when I saw that it was rice bowls?! FOr only $6! I just had to try it! So first you pick everything that you want to go in it, I had rice, black eye beans, bok choy, green onions, and garlic with cilantro and the house sauce. Sounds pretty great right?! Well I was certainly excited. When I went to eat my bowl.. I was slightly disappointed, I was really excited for some real bokchoy, you know with the green leaves and large white stems? Well.. I got bok choy, but it was chopped up into tiny pieces and only the white part, so it was like adding in celery without taste or nutrition. Sure the white part has nutrition... but not nearly as much as the leaves, so that was a disappointment. The next disappointment was that it was DOUSED in sauce, it was almost soupy. The sauce was good don't get me wrong, but when your rice is dripping? That's not the best sign.. It was too salty for me and I had to take it home and add more rice to thin out the sauce. Overall a meh experience. The service was great, very nice, not too slow but the food was meh. I will probably try it again, maybe they just needed some time to get on their feet.

Sunny day, so we wandered on down to the Tidbit pod, and saw this colorful new cart. Menu is pretty simple, and you walk through 4 choices to add to a base of brown rice: * Red beans or black eyes peas (and add chicken for $2) * add two toppings - things like kale, sprouts, avocado, sour cream, etc. A little weird as there's some disparity for the toppings, and at a $1 for each extra, seems a little steep. * chose garnish - cilantro, basil, nutritional yeast, pepper flakes, lime, etc. $0.50 for each extra here *pick a sauce - a house tamari based sauce, a green avocado/tomatillo sauce, a spicy red sauce, a southeast sauce (tomatoes, garlic, onions, cumin, lime), or a hot beets sauce (habanero, beets, roasted red pepper, etc). You can get a side of potatoes for $3 or $4. I had red beans with kale and bok choy, nutritional yeast, and the house sauce. Food comes out in one of those wide, brown, biodegradable waxed paper take out boxes, and fair portion sizes. Was a little surprised that all the toppings were raw. The beans and rice provided a solid base, and the house sauce was good. Maybe a little bit overly sweet, but generally good amount of umami and flavors. GF had the red beans with kale and avocado, lime, and the red sauce. The red sauce was pretty vinegary, reminding me of kimchi juice more than anything else. We also split their chocolate mousse, which comes out in a little plastic cup for $3. GF really liked this, while I thought it was just a middle of the road mouse. I think if I go back, I'll add either add chicken or get a side of potatoes, but for $6, the food was good. Definitely a nice addition to the Tidbit pod, and great to have another "healthier" choice in addition to Garden Monsters.

Build my own... basically the Green Machine Bowl with kale, cilantro, lime, carrots, avocado, pineapple, and chicken.

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

But they also gave the option to pre-purchase cookies or caviar, which is a fun way to surprise the reservation party members. We had bar seats and left the option open to order à la carte or go with their prix fixe. The example menu on the website is several months out of date, so I was not quite sure what we'd get. But I understand the focus of this restaurant to be fresh, in-season food, locally sourced, vegetable-forward, French-inspired. It's a neat location near Mt Tabor. There's not a lot nearby, so it feels like a destination. There is a small parking lot next door, which is convenient. You enter through their market/oyster bar. There's not an immediately clear check-in table. And you're walked through the back to the other side where the Coquine dining room is. It feels a tad underwhelming - perhaps too casual for the finer dining expectation. Additionally, the person who greeted us was a tad surly. Service was friendlier during dinner but a little less hands-on than I'd like. I liked the design of the restaurant. Good lighting, natural decor, red countertop. They are a "zero foodprint" restaurant so the napkins and coasters are washable, serving utensils are wood, etc. It gave a very organic feel. Okay that said! We ordered the following à la carte: -Half dozen oysters (fun toppings - pomegranate gelee) -Bread and butter (normal, would skip next time) -Roasted carrots -Shaved cauliflower salad -Potato gnocchi -Pan seared black cod (our favorite) -Citrus tart (unique) Everything was tasty: well prepared, beautiful to look at, fun sauces and elements to discover. It might have been too many cold dishes at the start. We also got a half dozen cookies to go. I've heard that these are the best cookies in the city. They have nuts, which is an immediate disqualifier for me, but even without that I'm not sure they live up to the hype. Very delicious? Sure. Best in the city? I don't know about that. Overall this was a good meal, in a nice atmosphere. It felt very "Pacific Northwest." Worth a visit if you appreciate seasonal, ingredient-driven dining.

But in the case of the Hour-Glass Pub and Eatery you have a really nice bar that serves some righteous chicken and more. Located at the corner of Glisan and 74th it is a short drive from just about anywhere. It is also a favorite among workers at Providence Hospital, which is where we heard about it. Parking is mostly available on 74th, there are scant few spaces behind the bar and one handicapped space. The menu is mostly based on their proclivity for making some amazing fried chicken and other fried appetizers, but there are sandwiches and burgers, fish and chips, and chicken fried steak. Service was quick and friendly and food came out within a reasonable amount of time. There were five of us in our party so we ordered appetizers like mini corn dogs and fried cheese curds. Both of which were wonderfully prepared and worth checking out. The rest of the plates were the fried chicken and one order of fish and chips. The chicken is definitely the star here, although I was surprised at the size of the pieces of fish, quite large. Bring an appetite or friends. Side dishes were mainly either fries or jo-jo's and we had a variety of side salads, mac salad and cole slaw. All reported to be excellent. I am looking forward to coming back to try the breakfast menu soon. The rest rooms were well stocked and clean, the tables were also clean. The bar was equally well stocked with everything from your basic draft beers to any kind of alcohol your liver desires. Keep in mind they enforce a very strict 21 and over only so leave the kids at home.

Can't tell if it's just a roudier than normal crowd of if the acoustics are terrible. Either way I would come back.
