I ordered the ginger salad and the rice pancake balls with quail egg and both items were prepared quickly. The ginger salad is incredible. It's like the most perfect salad I've ever eaten. Not exaggerating at all, this is one of the most delicious things I've had this year. I am a ginger lover, but I still wasn't sure what it would be like to eat this much ginger. This dish almost treats ginger like a vegetable and not just a seasoning. The textures of this dishes really make it stand out. There are so many different textures in here that create a complex and fascinating bite. The crisp, finely shredded cabbage and ginger make up the base, which is mixed with various crunchy nuts and seeds and soft juicy pops of diced tomato. The flavors in this dish are intense. This quantity of sinus clearing ginger would be inedible without being held in balance by a good deal of salt and seasoning in the dressing and the rich, earthy savoriness of the nuts and seeds. I was really amazed by this dish. It was outstanding. After the extreme bright salty flavor of the salad, the rice pancake balls don't pack quite the same punch. However, the quail egg in here is cooked beautifully. It came out warm, with a soft jammy center and the white was a soft silky jelly. The whole thing is surrounded by a slightly chewy layer of rice based pancake. The flavor of the rice comes through, and the exterior is slightly crispy. These had so much richness from that egg yolk. It was so savory and comforting even though I've never eaten anything like this before. Really looking forward to my next visit here as I found the two items I tried to be remarkable and outstanding.

The wontons (which are available steamed or fried) are juicy and fresh. The prices here are amazingly cheap and you can easily have a full mela here for less than $10.

I got gong bao Ji ding, some sort of tofu and wood ear dish, and a potato curry. The chicken was super fatty and rich dark meat with a juicy, tender texture. You could really taste the wok hei in this dish and it had some pleasant heat to it. This is probably my favorite dish I got. The potato curry was also flavorful, and the potatoes were not mushy and over cooked- just creamy and marinated in curry flavor. The tofu was surprisingly deep in flavor. The sauce completely penetrated the fried triangles of tofu with slight sweetness and savoriness. It was pleasantly chewy and overall seemed to be expertly prepared. This picture of the food genuinely looks horrible, but you have to take my word that everything I ate here was very delicious. I find that often this type of place offers many dishes that all taste very similar but each of the things I tried had its own distinct flavor profile. I ate at one of the few seats inside and found it to be clean and comfortable with a large jar of tasty chili oil available. About this Vendor Market! It's low-key, family friendly & welcoming. There's bathrooms too. Think PTA Cultural Festival - BUT this is a quality culinary adventure. One Indonesian first-time customer was surprised to see some items that they've only seen when visiting Indonesia & their first impression was that the vendors didn't dumb down the flavors for the Western palette.
