We got the roti canai and the hainanese chicken (1/4) rice, and they were solid. The chicken leg had more bone than I would've liked but it had simple flavors and was nicely cooked. It's a good no-fuss kind of dish. The roti was perfect, would totally order that. Their menu is large so will have to come back for more next time!

Virtually every dish was a hit here, you just have to know what to order. Amazing Southeast Asian flavors with a number of tastes for different pallets. Curry laksa and the fish cakes were my personal favorite, as were the flat noodles. My friend said to avoid the skewers, just so you know I'm not being biased! Definitely will come back here, the service and the atmosphere makes you really feel like you're in a homey place.

Food was ok! Service was great!! Ambiance was nice!! Cash ONLY!! I love my Flushing Malaysian place!!!

We got the hainanese chicken, laksa, and popiah. The laksa was so flavorful with the right amount of coconut milk. I haven't been able to find popiah outside of Singapore/Malaysia so I was so happy they had this on the menu. The hainanese chicken was the highlight. The chicken was so moist and tender. I would 100% come back just for the chicken.

All the dishes were amazing. We had the whole chicken, flat noodles with seafood, fish cooked in Malaysian sauce, oil rice, pancakes.... The waiter made several suggestions when asked what he'd recommend. Each suggestion was great. The restaurant had a lot of pictures of all the food they served. It's a small restaurant with enough tables for at least 2 groups of 10-12. Some tables for 2-4. You can make reservations for groups of 10 or more, else it's first come first serve.

Of the Malaysia restaurants I've tried in New York this one has the widest variety of Malaysia dishes. I feel like the other restaurants have a majority Malaysian dishes but also include the typical American Asian dishes like pad thai, sushi rolls etc. Taste Good has so many dishes I miss from Malaysia and I felt like I wanted to keep ordering more! Service was okay, attentive but nothing above and beyond. The dining room is small, about 8 tables. They can seat large parties. Singapore curry laksa - a very strong coconut flavor but not very heavy on the prawn flavor. They serve it with the thicker glass noodle rather than the yellow egg noodle + thin vermicelli mei fun. I liked it and would order again but it's not served "authentically" if that's what you're looking for. Crispy fish cake - verrrrry crispy. Different than the Thai tod mun. Served with Thai chili sauce. Sizzling tofu - there's a layer of egg at the bottom and minced meat with some veggies on top. A nice flavorful gravy paired well with rice. Yam basket - my boyfriend and dad enjoyed this dish a lot. It's unique if you've never had it before! Hainanese chicken rice - not bad! It's not the best I've ever had and def leans more towards the American style of the sweeter soy sauce. The chili sauce was pretty good. Popiah - Popiah is a thin pancake roll with light veggies inside. The sauce is a little savory. It's hard to describe but I'd recommend trying it. Fragrant fish - a crispy fried fish with sweet sauce. It's slightly spicy. I wouldn't say this is super Malaysian but it was a yummy dish!

Although the seafood egg noodles served were not crispy in texture as mentioned in the description on the menu, the other six dishes we ordered were good. All three of the appetizers (tahu goreng, tahu emas, Malaysian popiah) were worth trying. You could taste the lemongrass which pairs well with the peanut sauce in the amazing appetizer dish, tahu goreng. A nice balance of flavors in all of the Malaysian dishes we tried and we could request the mild version of certain spicy dishes at the restaurant's disposal. I'd say the seafood bean curd casserole was very good! Also, the Hainanese chicken rice stood out as the chicken was juicy served with subtly flavored rice alongside the bowl of chicken stock. The dessert, pulut hitam, was sweet and chewy with its aromatic creaminess. The staff is friendly and tactful. You get a homey, no-frills vibe with the red lanterns suspended from ceiling next to an altar and a lot of pictures of the dishes displayed along the wall of the restaurant. There is enough sitting area even though Taste Good is small. Never tried Malaysian food before and going to Taste Good would have been especially epic if the egg noodles in the seafood egg noodle dish was crispy smothered in the egg gravy with the seafood and vegetables. Probably a cooking mishap unfortunately. Glad that I tried some of dishes at Taste Good despite this.

For what it's worth, if you're looking for an authentic Southeast Asian experience when it comes to their cuisine. This place certainly has it in spades. This is one of those restaurants you'd have to keep a keen eye on while looking for it otherwise you'd walk right past it because it's fairly narrow. At least that's how it looks outside but there is ample amount of seating inside and the inside of the area does have a Hong Kong restaurant feel to it with a mainly woodgrain interior mixed with some Cantonese decorations here and there. The service is very solid here in this place. Employees were very attentive and served my order in a steady amount of time, supplying me with a fair amount of utensils and napkins. I had my usual favorite, Hainanese Chicken and Rice though mind you, while you and me are used to the chicken being prepped and deboned, no such thing here as it's basically chopped up Chicken, poured in broth and served to you. As good as the chicken was, eating it wasn't pleasant as I had to be mindful of the bones in the chicken. It was rather cumbersome but the only net negative in the place. One of the servers handed me a few extra napkins as a way to place the bones in and probably gave me the look of "This guy must be new here" Lmao (I'm not new to the cuisine but the experience was a first for me.) The MVP of the meal was the sweet chili sauce to go with the rice, it was profoundly delicious. Normally I'd favor Soy Sauce with my rice but the sweet chili was an excellent addition. I prefer my Hainanese Chicken over rice to be served to me simple with no bones but as someone who desires to visit Singapore and Malaysia someday, this is a good learning lesson on how the food and ettiquite is set up here.

    Roti Canai

This is a small, clean Cash-only restaurant with very friendly service. I had a lovely meal, consisting of the must order roti canai, nasi lemak, and curry noodle soup with stuffed tofu. The roti canai was buttery and delicious and it soaked up the creamy chicken curry well. I could have eaten three more of these, but I still had plenty of food in front of me because I couldn't decide between the two entrees. The nasi lemak is the Malaysian version of my favorite genre of meal which is "a bunch of stuff on a big plate." The large portion of white rice came with some chicken curry, anchovies with onions, a cold vegetable dish, peanuts, cucumber and a boiled egg. I really enjoyed trying various combinations of the different items together, and the chicken was quite tender and well seasoned. The noodle soup had such a flavorful broth. It was rich but also bright and not heavy. It came with several pieces of stuffed tofu on top. The noodles were quite soft and plentiful. I've only tried a few Malaysian restaurants but this was my favorite so far.

Good no frills Malaysian- loved the sizzling tofu (probably one of the best tofu dishes I've ever had) and the roti. Didn't love the laksa but that's just my preference (the shrimp paste was a bit too prevalent for my liking). Owner was very friendly but his demeanor changed drastically when we didn't want to buy the buns he was trying to upsell to us

The food was amazinggggg! We had Malaysian Popiah, Roti Canai and Beef Rendang. Generous portions, and a place with a kind family vibe. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes

    Char kway Teow
    Vivek B.

This is a small hole in the wall Chinese / Malaysian spot in Queens NY. Small frontage but it was surprisingly bigger inside. The food is good here. I was impressed by the Rojak though I didn't need it drenched in the sauce but I'm sure that floats someone's boat. The char kway teow was authentic but the best part was the sambal chili which I asked for to accompany the fried noodles. Service is quick and tables turn quickly as well. Remember that this is a cash only establishment but they do take Zelle too.

    Joanne H.

Cash only! But still need to pay that tax! The air conditioning is on! I mean ITS ON! Really cold when my sister and I were there. So when the food comes, the food got cold so fast. Other than that, all dishes we ordered were delicious! We would def come back to try other dishes! Cash only!

My three-star rating reflects the pricing rather than the quality. At nearly $50 for two modestly sized dishes, the cost felt excessive, especially considering the food was comparable to other solid Chinese restaurants in the area. You can argue that is due to the third party delivery fees, but I've never come across such a pricing for such portions sizes on delivery apps.

There were some things we enjoyed, but overall we left feeling that the quality and portions didn't justify the prices. We ordered the chicken curry puffs first. They were much sweeter than I'm used to, and instead of the traditional cucumber relish, they were served with plum sauce. It wasn't terrible, just not what I expected. The roti with Massaman curry had good flavor, but the curry was so thin that it had the consistency of soup rather than a rich curry. It also came without any potatoes, carrots, or onions. I wasn't expecting meat, but I did expect a more traditional Massaman curry. The grilled beef (nuea yang) was cooked well and very tender, but the beef itself was lacking seasoning. Thankfully, the dipping sauces added some flavor. The beef short rib khao soi was another dish that felt underwhelming. The short rib was excellent--fall-off-the-bone tender--but the curry broth itself tasted too light. I personally think it needed more curry paste and more depth of flavor, especially for a dish that's around $40. The biggest disappointment was the kua kling chicken and the Hat Yai fried chicken. Both portions were surprisingly small considering the price. That's where I really felt the value wasn't there. Unfortunately, the service didn't help either. It wasn't rude, but it felt inattentive and lacked the warmth and hospitality I usually associate with Thai restaurants. I always want to support fellow Thai-owned businesses, so writing this review honestly makes me sad. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from trying the restaurant--this is simply my family's experience. Everyone has different tastes, and yours may be completely different from ours. For us, though, the combination of light flavors, small portions, and lackluster service left us disappointed, especially for a birthday dinner.
