Yesterday (Wednesday) First time going with my son. Incredibly long wait time for food. The appetizer and entre were brought out together. The Appetizer was Hot, the entre was Not. We weren't given any silverware or napkins until I flagged down a server 15 minutes after being served our food. The check came when I was still eating, and I had to literally pull my plate closer to me to keep the server from whisking it away. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a beer house. Nothing lacking on the beer menu, with regularly rotated taps (22 at my last count), and many more bottled delicacies. Ebenezer has a well crafted menu sure to please everyone in your party. A few suggestions- BBQ Meatloaf sandwich Spicy Asian Chili wings French Onion soup And the hot pretzels.... Pretzels are very good, but the homemade doing sauce sets them apart! Some combo of honey mustard and mayo (that's all they'll tell me). We ordered takeout due to the COIVD-19 restrictions. All of the food ordered came out hot and stayed that way on my drive home (which is good - nobody likes cold or lukewarm food!). Ordered an app of the spinach dip and it was great. Ordered a sandwich and a burger as an entree - both were huge and very good! Picked up 2 fish fry dinners today. Both dinners were missing the pasta salad, cole slaw, AND tartar sauce. The french fries & fish were ok but soggy. So for $13 a piece, we got soggy fish & fries...no sides or sauce! Not impressed. Definitely will NOT get it again! read more

Scott was our bartender and was really great. My wife and I came in with the intention of going you to the patio for dinner. There was a bit of a wait so we sat up at the bar for a beverage. The service was really great, and we decided to eat right there. As someone who has worked in various service industries for a number of year u can say that from my people watching there were not any patrons that looked like they were in a rush to get out. I'm only giving this place 3 stars because I've only eaten here once and I wasn't thrilled but so many other people have given such great reviews and feedback that I'd like to go back again and give them another chance. So I may come back and change the review to something more favorable... I went for a fish fry and my guest and I waited an overly long time for a table, the bar was PACKED with barely any room to even walk through, let alone get to the bar and order a drink, the dining area is right next to the bar area and because there were so many people drinking and talking it was extremely loud. We waited I'm guessing 35-45 min for a table and then were seated at a small table in the middle of the bar area with groups of people drinking all around us. The fish fry itself was good, the portion is big, sides were tasty and fresh and the fish was crispy and light, not too greasy. Good fish fry. If you don't mind a loud, crowded bar/tavern atmosphere while you eat then this place is for you. Like I said, I will go back on a weeknight when its not so crowded and try it again. I was there on a Thursday evening with a group of 4. The restaurant was dirty. The glass my drink was served in was filthy dirty, inside and out. The windows looked like they have NEVER been cleaned. The sunlight that was able to get through the windows should be shaded because we had to change our table 3 times. The food, appetizers and main courses, were cold. The service was very slow, but considering there wasn't enough help, our server did her best. And, a restaurant that serves Guinness on tap, should know how to pour it the right way. This bartender had NO clue. I gave this place 1 star only because I couldn't give it a half a star. Stopped here for lunch and the food was good but the service was HORRIBLE! Got seated outside and our server took 15-20 mins to finally come and take our order. Our food came and the server didn't come back to check till after we were done eating. I've been here before, admittedly about a year back when I last traveled to upstate NY chasing fall colors. And the last time, Ebenezer happened to have not only a great atmosphere, good beer selection, and not-too-loud music, but it also had a good chef. This time, everything else was the same, but the chef... well. He didn't know what to do with boneless short ribs on Hubby's burger, and he knew even less to cook down my pasta's Cajun sauce to meld it. Basically, we had a burger with no salt or pepper, just some unseasoned mayo, and a pasta sitting in raw, and I mean raw, tomato-and-spice. I'm adding a star for last year's experience, would have scored a one if I'd been there for the first time this weekend. read more

This is a cool spot to hang out in West Seneca. Place is never quiet on a weekend with difficulty finding parking in the evenings. Great beer selection, whether you like your craft IPAs or the classics. If you like beer, this is a good spot for you. They have some pretty good food here. Haven't had a bad burger there yet. We visited as a party of 5 around 3 pm so the place was busy but not packed. I had heard good things about the food, but the experience was pretty terrible. The waitress Niki was inattentive, and it took us almost 20 min to get drinks. Since it was that odd time between lunch and dinner, we only ordered 3 burgers and a bowl of soup between the five of us. Nothing complicated and no special instructions. We then waited nearly an hour for food before giving up. Not once did the waitress come by to check to see if we needed more to drink or to offer an apology about the wait. In fact, when we went to pay for our drinks and leave, the only explanation/apology we got was "you haven't been waiting an hour!" Rude, poorly trained staff and I will not be back. read more

How come not one yelper has not commented on their consistent skeleton crew? Came here years ago with my girlfriend on a Friday afternoon, one waitress for the entire dining room which filled up quickly. We needed more tartar, another drink but waitress running away so quickly, it was impossible to get our request in. Times haven't changed much since then. I've been there 2 times in the past 2 months. Both the same sad story. This place is cranking on a Saturday night...trying to get a drink here is like climbing Mount Everest...a nearly impossible feat. My friend saw me and said, good luck getting a drink. She waited 14 min for a drink, as she saw bartenders doing shots with their customers. I stood at the extremely busy, understaffed bar, 8 min for a drink. Neither the bartender nor the barback ever even glanced up to make eye contact with me to see why I was standing there waiting...it wasn't to ask them what their sign is. I just walked out the door & left. Place is an absolute turn off. If you are going to have a booming bar business, similar to a night club downtown, staff appropriately. Or at least have a speedy bartender that can get the job done! read more

I wanted to give this place a second chance since last time I came in it was terrible. Unfortunately I can't say it has gotten any better. I noticed they have a new menu with weekly specials which seemed interesting to my partner and I. Before ordering our main entrees we decided to have the loaded fries. When they were first brought out to us the fries were cold as well as all of the toppings. We complained and the waitress nicely offered to get us new ones. The next order was better and included fresh fries. I noticed other tables around us also complained about their fries and were brought out new ones. For my entree I ordered the French Onion Burger and he ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken. The physical burger itself tasted burnt and had absolutely no flavor. It had a large dollop of French onion dip on it which was tasty and had an unnecessary amount of friend onion straws on top of it. The menu stated it would have caramelized onions on top so I was not expecting fried onions. The burger also had lettuce and tomato on it which didn't add anything to the burger. I would rate this burger 2/10. I would not recommend wasting your time with this special. The Nashville Hot Chicken was fine tasting but it was a very small amount of chicken. It came with 3 very small fried chicken strips which was disappointing. I would not recommend this place. read more

Wonderful , is always my motto , when a restaurant serves delicious food . I have NEVER been dissatisfied nor dissapointed. West Seneca Class of 63 meet there monthly for a luncheon. Our menu selection is quite variable , which is nice . Don't have to order the same old thing over and over . Change is good ! Sometimes we get a little loud , depending on the size for us who attend , but you know what ? They have NEVER told us to quiet down . Hmmm Maybe we weren't THAT loud after all ! Also , they let us stay there as long as we want . They don't give us a time limit like many a restaurant would . We have the downstairs level most always by ourselves . So, people . My favorite restaurant in the south towns! Hands down top 3 things on the menu are the mango peach wings, chicken quesadilla and the Mac n cheese. Blows everyone else out of the water. The best part about Ebenezer Ale House is the building. Today's service was inexcusably poor. It was not at all crowded during this lunchtime, a couple of people shooting the breeze at the bar, a four-top on the patio and a sprinkling of two-toppers. And us two. The server really could not have been slower to greet us, not that we were in a hurry. Let's say that it's best to avoid this place if you only have an hour for lunch! The server was just not that into serving. Instead of providing customer service, she was faintly put out at the inquiry of on-tap beer selections, and sauntered to the bar to fetch a printed piece for us to review (psst, there were not too many to discuss, this IS part of your job.) We ordered one red and one gold and were served by and by. We ordered very different meals, and again, a ghastly long wait. We were enjoying our conversation and all, but good grief. He tried the Sweet and Spicy Goat, a chuck steak burger with breaded jalapenos, sweet Asian chili sauce, goat cheese, on a buttered, grilled roll. It came with lettuce, tomato and onion, plus lots of (shiny) french fries. She had a house salad and French onion soup. Not one item was remarkable in any way. There were no take-home boxes necessary. The French onion soup was quite similar in taste to a canned variety, only with twice the salt. It came hot, which is good, with a thin layer of cheese melted atop, with very brown cheese bubbles glued to the side of the cup, burnt really. When the spoon broke the cheese seal, the cheese sprung into a glob and sank pitifully to the bottom of the cup. The salad looked very nice, crisp croutons and tiny diced tomato pieces on top. One slice of cucumber was divided into four pieces, skimpy seeing as it's cuke season in WNY. He was truly unimpressed with his meal. We did order a second beer and after some time, were told something about the CO2 tank needed replacing and the manager was on the way. Hmmm. She turned heel and 30 minutes later, returned to see if we still wanted that beer. Eventually, the server left the bill in the black billfold and returned mighty quickly, having obviously overcome her Tortoise Nervosa, and asked if she needed to bring us change. We both rolled our eyes at that; he said to himself, no, keep the change on that hundred. She didn't even know what was IN the billfold! People in food service, say this over and over until it is branded in your mind: I will be right back with this! (IF you do NOT need to come back, trust us diners, we will let you know.) Never ask if you need change, tsk, tsk. Cliche. Passé. Tacky. Ebenezer Ale House is a two thumbs down. I hope I can revise this review some time in the future, but before I do, some things have got to change. Two stars is generous, for the building and the beer. This place has SO much potential, it's in a neat building, has a great bar, lots of seating, many windows, tons of parking, a patio. So this is your wake-up call! Train your servers to pretend this is the ONE day in a YEAR that each party that enters your door eats out: make it special so they will come back. Also mention to your servers that everyone who enters Ebenezer Ale House may be an internet restaurant reviewer and you need to impress absolutely every person. Went to this joint on a total whim for search of a local burger while in West Seneca and damn what a nice spot! It was Spring when I went to that sick back porch was not open yet due to the weather but looks like a place I want to be drinking a cold one this summer. More importantly I had a goat cheese jalapeno burger that knocked my damn socks off! I think those are the best experiences also when you go in with no expectations then BAM! All of the food that our party had was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun. First off let me say, First two times at the Ale House, were great. I loved it, good food, drinks, and prices. Maybe service was the only beef I had but eh was fine. Third visit leads me to believe that the service part might be catching up to them. We visited over the weekend afternoon. Me and my guest went to the hostess station, and no one was there. While waiting someone from the kitchen notices us tells us oh, just seat yourself there is no hostess. Not even a sign. Now the food was not great but the thing that erked me was the filth on all the dishes, glasses had lip stick on them, and the mini pitches we full of grime. YUCK. The food was pretty good and that's why it's a shame we may not go back. The problem is the service. We got our appetizers and within 5 minutes the entrees came out. That is not a good move. The waitress admitted it was wrong..and would we like her " to put it back under the warmer for a while" Terrible. The biggest problem this place has is the young girls working there that are more interested in texting and chit chatting at the end of the bar than they are taking care of their customers.
