Waited for a hour for food. Restaurant was slow. Service was horrible and food just as bad. We won't be back.

I'll keep this short. Bad food, bad service and although the beer was good, it was way over priced. Ordered the nachos which were more like a bad bowl of Mexican corn flakes than anything else; canned corn, canned jalapeños with canned cheese soup. No beef, no nacho cheese, no toasting in the oven. Salsa? Nope, that wasn't salsa. Stuffed peppers (3) were eleven and a half bucks and prepared in a manner that I am unfamiliar with. Hostess was startled that we waited to be seated, we then had to get up and read the beer menu on the wall cuz she forgot that it's an ale house and there's a beer menu... Our server came once and she never returned. Had to have another girl hunt her down just to get the check. First time in my life I shorted the tip. But our server just couldn't be bothered. So, neither could I. This place is beat. read more

Went for the first time tonight and I would definitely go back. The French onion soup was my favorite of the night - cheesy, salty, so warm and tasty. I also ordered "The Betty" which is basically a turkey club with cranberry mayo. This was delicious - the sourdough bread really made the sandwich. I was impressed overall. I gave 4 stars because I felt like the menu was a little small/lacking variety making it a little tricky to figure out what to eat. read more

I've been here a few times now for dinner, and we have always had a really pleasant experience. Most recently, my husband and our friend Mike came in for dinner after running errands in the area. It was late, almost 8:30, and with it being early June, was too late to sit on the gorgeous patio. We sat inside instead, and got to watch the hockey game on their many TVs. Started off with some bbq fries die the table. In reading the description, the corona lime queso is what sold me on this dish. It did not disappoint. Absolutely huge portion of straight cut fries doused in my dream queso, bbq sauce and toppings. I had to restrain myself and share! Mike has been really into breakfast burgers lately and got the hangover burger- sausagey patty, bacon, fried egg, provolone & maple blueberry bourbon sauce on a French toast roll. He devoured it and said it was delicious. My husband got the fish tacos. He said they were good but he expected more fish in them. He got sweet potato fries on the side and they were perfect! I got their grilled cheese- bacon, tomato, cheddar in sourdough. Everything tasted great! I am sure we will back for some patio eats! FYI- dogs are allowed on the patio! We used to love coming here but after waiting almost 2 hours for a Reuben and beef in weck during the middle of the day with minimal customers in the restaurant, and then to be served burnt French fries with our meal, we won't be returning. The waitress brought the food out and said "these fries look awful but I had them put some more down for you." 15 minutes later she came back with half frozen fries... I understand the staffing issues but this was unacceptable. read more

I got their Cajun chicken salad and, as I expected from having had a salad there a few years ago, it was very good. Also, when I say these salads are huge, they are absolutely gargantuan! Their craft beer selection is also decent and they're quick on the mixed drinks. They are pretty good about covid protocols despite being allowed to be open as late as they want due to being part of that lawsuit. I've been there a few times and the servers and bartenders always wear masks, and they have the dividers up. I'd go there anytime! read more

We came here after picking up a new vehicle. It was a week night at 8pm. We aren't local to West Seneca, we picked the place based on the reviews on their Reubens. This is what I got. It was absolutely delicious and worth a trip if you love Reubens. They offer double meat, I did not get this. My son got the prime rib beef on Weck, he said it was outstanding and juicy. My daughter got the burger, she wasn't in the mood to share her opinion...but she ate most of it and it was cooked medium and was juicy. My husband got the patty melt with bacon. He said it was excellent with grilled onions. We all had the house chips which were seasoned and crispy. Quite good. They did run out of these on my husbands, but offered fries. We waited a few minutes for these but they were good as well. I would absolutely come back if we are in the area again...and may make a special trip again when I'm craving a Reuben. read more

Good grief, I must've subconsciously grouped all of my "just ok" places together without knowing. While in the West Seneca area, I wanted to try out a new spot with pretty decent reviews. And seeing as Ebenezer has four stars on Yelp -- and a cash back deal -- I figured, why the heck not? The place itself is pretty cool: outdoor patio, endless amounts of windows to view the nearby trees (and street, depending on where you sit), and what sounds like all the craft beer to make you hoppy. The food, however, made me feel like we could've saved our money and made the meal at home. My husband ordered some burger with bacon on it and *without* cheese. The reason why I know he ordered his burger *without* cheese is because he loathes cheddar -- constantly reminding me it's a molecule or two away from being plastic. But guess what he got on his burger when it arrived? Yup, cheddar cheese. We waited so long -- with two toddlers no less -- to get our food, he didn't want to wait another mini eternity to get the food corrected. As for myself, I ordered the Betty, because, honestly, what lady wouldn't want to be associated with a Betty (lol)? Though sage-roasted turkey and cranberry mayo sounded like a heavenly combination, getting me in the feels for Thanksgiving, the sandwich wasn't that great. (It wasn't horrible, just not that great.) Between the sogginess and hard slide of uber processed, orange cheddar cheese, I ate half of my sandwich and accidentally forgot about the other half. The food is fantastic. The employees & owners are fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. With the current circumstances, my family and I are trying to visit more local places. The Ebenezer Ale House did not disappoint. I placed a take out order and arrived a little sooner than expected. The two people behind the bar were very kind & apologized that the food wasn't quite ready. My order varied from pizza & wings, pasta, soup, and a few appetizers and everything was great. Either you have new owners, new managers or a new chef, either way I am seriously downgrading my review of the restaurant from last time. Our visit was Thursday evening January 17 during dinner hour. First off the unprofessional hostess who was sitting in the chair on her phone wearing sloppy looking clothing to the food, which i'll explain later. Server was attentive but the food---what happened?? Along with our drinks, we decided on just getting appetizers. The special appetizer of the day was some crab thing---omg it was so GROSS! the seafood was bad!!! I have no doubts in my mind that if we had eaten it, we would have gotten seriously sick. We sent it back after nearly 1 bite. We also ordered the nachos, which I have had several times in the past. The nacho cheese was COLD! We ate it anyway so as not to be a complainer. But cold cheese, really? They offered an alternative when when we sent back the crab thing so we thought---"can't go wrong with nachos" but yes, you can, when it's COLD !! Believe it or not the second serving of Nacho's had Cold cheese. WTF! Our third appetizer was the Bri cheese with marinara dressing. NOT GOOD. I love goat cheese and have had the spinach goat cheese salad in the past and it was terrific, but this app had me wondering if I was going to get sick in the near future. Will not eat here again. Came up from Florida for a visit and my parents choose this restaurant to have lunch and celebrate. Once we sat down we were told there was no alcohol. We then ordered lunch and was served only to be told we would have to leave in the next 30 minutes as the power was going to be shut off. The final straw was the bugs floating in the water. As we walked out our feet stuck to the floors they were so dirty. One can only hope the employees will spend their free time cleaning the place. read more

This is a great venue to sip a few, either great selections of draft beers or high proof spirits. Always served perfectly by great bartenders that understand drink mixology. The food is always also prepared perfectly, and served on time. Fair prices, and those home- made potato chips!!!! Wow. I only downgraded a bit for table service can be a bit pokey, the ladies like talking around, and forget the patrons( occasionally). 1st night in for the weekend in buffalo, ny and we read Yelp reviews for this spot and said this is where we want to try. Had to order the bowl of French onion soup. Loved the sweet flavor and all the onions and soggy bread and omg the mozzarella cheese so nice and bubbly and melted. We ordered the Bonnie bread which was enough to make a meal cheesy garlic bread with diced tomatoes and diced chicken with marinara sauce to dip or pour on. We planned on ordering dinner. Excuse me, I ordered the HALF rack of ribs. "Yes, that IS the half rack" WOW! A huge half rack of ribs, drizzled with fried onions, with the best tasting fries on the side, with a cup of slaw. I have passed this place many times on the way out towards Southgate plaza and have always been curious so I finally looked it up here on Yelp. I'm glad that I did because the rave reviews made me even more curious to check it out for myself. So when the opportunity to try a new Friday night dinner spot instead of our normal go-to's, I suggested trying Ebenezer! First off, when we got here we were told there was a 45 minute wait. Yikes. Since we had already set on eating here, we ended up giving our name and running up to Southgate to get a few errands done while we had to wait. We came back after about 40 minutes or so and were promptly seated. I have to say that honestly, I get pretty impatient about waiting, but in this case I'm glad we did and all things considered (Friday night, Lent Season, Sabres game on...), it wasn't a horrible wait. One of the few negatives I have to report of our experience tonight happened before we were even seated. As we were being directed to our table I tripped on the carpet that was curling up near our table. I didn't fall (thank god! haha), but I can definitely see this being dangerous! Also, when I looked down to see what I tripped on, I noticed the remains of a piece of bread on the floor. Gross! I brushed this off in hope that it wasn't a sign of bad things to come. I was definitely right because the rest of the night was spot on! We started off with drinks, and since Ebenezer offers an impressive selection of different beers, I of course ordered something as no-frills as can be: a Coors light. haha. The waitress told us it was on special tonight so we couldn't resist. I'm not a huge fan of many of the crazier beers out there anyways. I'll stick to my boring overrated domestic thanks. ;) Though my sister was very happy to see one of her favorites, Mckenzie Black Cherry Cider on their list and ordered it right away. I will note that I very much appreciate that Ebenezer has a website with their menu (INCLUDING PRICES) available because it really drives me crazy when places do not. I feel like there's really no excuse with how easy it is to make even a blog for free, that all restaurants should have a menu online. Since we had already perused the menu online, that definitely helped lessen the overwhelming feeling of their menu! I ended up choosing the Bruschetta burger, which my sister got the Ale House burger. Mom got the Betty sandwhich with a size of macaroni and cheese, and her boyfriend got the Ale House Rib eye. Descriptions from their menu: Bruschetta Burger -Prosciutto, fontinella, garlic roma salsa, pesto aioli, toasted ciabatta roll. Ale House Burger - Stout-caramelized onion, sauteed mushrooms, bacon,cheddar,buttered,grilled roll. The Betty - Sage-roasted turkey, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, cranberry mayo, sourdough bread. Macaroni & Cheese - Smoked gouda,cheddar,parmesan,cream,prosciutto,pasta. Ale House Rib Eye - 16 oz . dry-rubbed hand-cut rib eye, Flying Bison Aviator Red-battered onion rings, roasted garlic smashed potatoes,veggie. It took quite a while for our food to arrive but when it did, we quickly realized that the wait was worth it! I tried my chips first and while some of them were a bit burnt, it definitely did not ruin them by any means. They had a unique flavor to them and were nice and crispy. Next up we all tried the macaroni and cheese. We noticed it on the entree section of the menu and they had us at the word prosciutto. Love. I like that they used penne for the dish, and the smoked Gouda added an awesome touch. However, it could have been a bit creamier. There were many pieces of pasta that were completely dry. Luckily the taste of the Gouda and prosciutto made up for that. The burgers...the first bite of my burger was an eye-opening experience. I will risk saying that of all the burgers I've had over the years, this has got to be the BEST. Or at the very least, in the top three. Perhaps it's just the Italian in me but this burger was a work of art. The ciabatta - toasted perfectly. The pesto aioli I would have eaten on it's own. The garlic roma salsa was delicious. Again, there was my love - prosciutto. Heaven on a bun. The only downside to how awesome this burger was is that I fear that the next time we venture here, I may just get the same damn thing. ;) I tried a bite of both the Ale House burger and the Betty, and both were spot on. Though I have to say the cranberry mayo on the Betty really made an impression on me. Delicious. I also tried a bite of the steak and even though it was done well done (I perfer medium), it still tasted great. Often times I feel that well done equals tasteless and dry. Not here. The steak was still as flavorful and juicy as it should be. I think that anyone who finds themselves in the area of Ebenezer Ale House needs to try this place out. Since moving to the West Seneca/Orchard Park area over a year ago, we started going to Ebenezer and we have yet to have a subpar experience. Yes, it's always busy which can attest to the food and service. Consistency is key for this type of establishment. From the friendly staff, completely reasonable wait time for a table and for food, and the quality of what you would expect...they never fail. We love coming here for the French onion soup. It's comfort food for us and might I add that the beer menu is great. Love seeing local breweries getting space on their list of what's on tap. Plus, the happy hour prices on appetizers is a great deal. If you want quality American bar food....look no further in the area. read more

Ebenezar is a cool sports bar with a huge back porch. I had a Brooklyn Chocolate Russian imperial stout and Reuben sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese. The beer was good, but next time I would have a different Brooklyn beer or some other option. The food was *drool* awesome. The menu offered a wide vareity of wing sauces, and then there are wing specials. I will have to try those, the next time i am in West Seneca. I picked my meal based on the waitresses favorite 2 items from the menu. I always think it's fun to ask the workers what they prefer. Sometimes they give BS answers, I am sure, but it helps me to try new things. In this case, I already loved macaroni and cheese and reuben sandwiches. After tasting the reuben sandwich, I felt this was the best Reuben i have ever eaten in my life. Soo good. The meat was easy to bite through and so juicy. My stomach never agrees with sauerkraut, but I will worry about that later. My friend had a steak sandwich (should have gotten the Reuben). It was good, but it was NOT the Reuben. It was good and had a gravy on the sandwich with a side of chips. I enjoyed how they actually make their own chips. I look down on places when they charge you extra for fries but want to give you chips for free with a meal. It just makes me think they are lazing out and pouring chips from a bag. Ebenezar includes many different sides with their meals. At one point my friend was wanting to get a waitress for extra napkins. A couple that were not ours walked by and she was sad,. Our waitress, Dani, walked by and when we thought she didn't see our look of need, she plops a gigantic stack of napkins without us having to ask her. Mind reader Dani! What super service. We've been going here frequently and have put up with the sketchy service because the food and beer is good. The spicy Asian wings are the best. But we are done going here. Over. After the usual start with slow service the meal comes and the waitress hands me my plate across the middle of the table rather than stepping around. In the process she knocks over a full soda glass into my lap. During the attempted clean up she tries to blame me. What is inexcusable to me is that no one from management could be bothered to come by the table. I get that it was a mistake, even though the waitress tried to blame me, but for a manager not to stop by the table because I'm eating dinner in wet pants and our after dinner plans are ruined has no excuse. Clearly you don't care about your customers. For what it's worth you just lost four, and we were really good tippers. My advice, stay away too. We've been a few times now and it's only getting better! Beer list is still solid (and always seasonal) and the service is becoming more consistent. On our last visit, my cousin was back home for the weekend and was looking for a Monday afternoon fish fry, so we were psyched to see they served it at that time! It looked delicious (see pic) and she said it was... so I stole a bite. Perfectly tender fish with perfectly crunchy beer batter (made with Flying Bison Aviator Red, in fact). The fries were a little weird, but I think the fryer just wasn't hot enough because they were different than they were on our last visit. I love that the burger list can be replaced with chicken or turkey instead of beef. My current go-to is the "sweet and spicy goat," covered in creamy goat cheese, sweet chili sauce, and crunchy fried jalapenos. (Note: as of 2.5.13, the menu online is relatively accurate but not 100%). It's super delicious. And a nod to the pretzel bread. Everyone loves pretzel bread! read more

I really wish I could say this place rocks. I want it to rock so much because of the beer selections and the food is good. However, the service sucks! There was a group of 6 of us for a bachelorette party. We were coming to dinner following a painting on pallets experience, which was wonderful. The soon to be bride and I arrived at the restaurant and said that we had a party of 6 and was told we couldn't be seated until the rest of the party was there. They were right behind us, because we had all just finished painting and then followed each other to the restaurant. Plus, it was a Sunday at 4:30 p.m. and there were a total of 6 tables filled. Come on. So we waited 5 minutes until we were all there, and then she sat us. The waitress, Kristie, came over and the experience took a turn for the weird. She was the grumpiest service worker I have ever encountered. She rolled her eyes, made weird faces and was rude. She didn't smile once. She was completely unpleasant. Two of the girls at our table were servers before their current jobs and commented how she just poured the coffee over people's shoulders in our party, which is something you don't do in case you miss the cup and burn them. If you don't mind rude service, then by all means, please go to this establishment. But chicken fingers are good at many places and they offer many sauces. I'll be taking my money elsewhere, where the service and the food is all good. Update: Went there June 15th around 8:30 p.m. following a craft event at Rusty Nickel. parking is atrocious here, but the beer selections and the burgers are a must! My friends and I ordered the banana peppers and the BBQ loaded fries, so good! I wanted to lick the plate. I highly recommended ordering these. For dinner, mostly everyone got burgers, they all looked amazing, and everyone loved their meals. The best part of Ebenezer Ale House is... well... the beer. And the people - the wait staff I have always found to be extremely friendly, but that could be the beer talking. ;) No, it's not. They are great. The food is good. The pizza is completely disappointing, hence the 4 stars. But if you're looking for a good pub-style experience, the Ale House is a great place to go in the Southtowns. I often host business meetings there, and they are always very accommodating. However, in the average customer experience they are just as accommodating. The beer selections are always diverse, with dozens of bottled and on-tap choices. If you fan their Facebook page you can get the 4-1-1 on what is new and what promotions they have running. Happy hour is daily with half-priced appetizers, so the Ale House makes a great after-work destination for the locals. The atmosphere is plenty lively and with a wall of flat-screens behind the bar, they always have on multiple events for everyone's taste. I would recommend checking them out the next time you're in West Seneca/Elma. read more

Went to the Ale House for our third time and this time it was terrible. Service was not good, didn't have utensils and when we requested them it took 5+ minutes to get them after our food had arrived. When the food did arrive my beer was empty, I was never asked if I wanted another one. I had the Ale House Steak sandwich, it was put together real sloppy, was really spicy which it didn't say on the menu and the ciabatta roll was sliced like a child did it. My daughter's pizza crust was not even edible, it was tough like leather. The fish fry my wife had was dry and the side were oily and bland. read more

My friend and I met up for lunch at the Ebenezer Ale House yesterday. We got there during the busy lunch hour and were greeted by no one at the front door. After twiddling our thumbs for a few minutes we went to the bar and asked if we could be seated. The bartender was polite and said we could seat ourselves wherever and that she would let a waiter know. Flash forward another few minutes of waiting outside at a table and I had to go in again to ask for a waiter. So we finally got a menu and there was a wide selection of choices. I went with "The Betty" a turkey bacon sandwich and my friend chose the Bruschetta burger. You know how when you're close to starving almost anything tastes good? This was an exception. My sandwich was meh, the bread was just thin sandwich slices that were all dry. The house made chips that came with it were really greasy too. The burger my friend got was huge and he said he's had better. Overall I don't think I would go back. I think I'll stick to Duffs next time I'm in Buff again. read more

So I decided to check out Ebenezer Ale .... GREAT choice...we went during the March Madness UB. Bulls game without knowing how perfect timing was gonna be ... Me and my trusted sidekick ..went in to try the fish fry and she ended up changing her mind after browsing the menu and settled for the Jamaican Pork Loin Sandwich...it came with chips...it was TO DIE FOR...the meat was tender and sliced thin enough to not be tough ...but layered on where you could get a great taste of the flavors...the chips were cool.. But a bit to hard and crunchy for my liking ...but I'm no fan of kettle chips ...and these were exactly like them .... The fish fry was massive ...my favorite part however was the cold penne salad that came with it. Sometimes you get a bit tired of the basic french fry..so that salad was a welcomed addition ...it was seasoned nice with a mixture of cucumbers, peppers and carrot slices....the fish fry was good ...a large piece ...my only issue was it was bland ...I definitely needed some Tabasco sauce to spruce it up a bit ...but the penne salad made up for it ... The atmosphere was SUPERB...I enjoyed everything from the people, ambiance and the action.. Upon us entering, the waitress greeted the couple ahead of us, but did not acknowledge us at all. Finally got sat, and after our drinks arrived and our meal was placed, the bad experience began. It took 30 mins after placing our order for our soup to arrive, and no apology from the waitress about that wait either. French onion soup they offered tasted more like sweet tea with cheese and bread more than savory soup. All the while, our waitress Lauran provided much better service to the two tables next to us, which were 6-party and 7-party. In my opinion, excellent customer service should be given to all patrons at a restaurant, regardless if it's 2, 6, or a high-school football team party. No one is better than any other, but certainly felt that way when I had to ask my waitress for a water refill, which took 10 minutes to get each time. After the whole meal was done (about 1 hour, 15 mins after we had sat down), our check arrived. And low and behold, they up-charge for debit/credit card payment. Nowhere on their property, at their hostess stand, on their menus, or at their tables does it mention an up-charge! But coincidentally, they have a 3rd-party ATM available, in case you'd prefer to pay an ATM fee. And that wasn't the worst of it; I offered my card to Lauran, who swiped it a few times at the POS system right behind me. My dinnermate then saw her leave with my card in her hand, who did not mention that she had to try a different terminal. After 10 more minutes, she finally came back and explained that their credit-debit card system is not working properly and she is speaking with her manager for help; she then asked if I had a different mode of payment. I told her I only had cards, so I offered her a second card. After 15 more minutes of waiting, I checked my own bank account online, and saw that my card got charged properly for this restaurant. As soon as I sat up to find Lauren, she came over to me and suggested if I could use the ATM to possibly pay for my meal. Did not even take upon that rude suggestion; I just showed her my phone and proved my card was charged. She then said "oh great. Let me tell my manager". At this point, it dawned on me: why is she being the middle-man for all of this? Shouldn't the manager be involved directly with the customer? But no, even worse: Lauran walked over to the manager, who was SITTING AT THE BAR! Doesn't even want to give the customer the time of day or apology for this inconvenience. Lauran came back and had me sign the customer copy for her records, all the while apologizing for this machine malfunction. I simply took my card, said "thank you for the meal", then proceeded to the bathroom before leaving. But wait, there's more! After I came out of the bathroom, Lauran stopped me and said that I forgot to tip and asked if I wanted to leave a tip. So let me offer some tips: -To Lauran, don't beg for tips from your customers as they're trying to leave, don't favorite other customers depending on their size of their party, and don't run off with customer's credit cards without explaining where you are going. -To the manager: don't sit while you're staff is working hard, don't send them to communicate with the customers for machine failure or something of that manner, and you BETTER NOT BE DRINKING ON THE JOB! -To potential customers: unless you want to be jipped for extra for using cards instead of cash, unless you want mediocre service from staff who don't have a clue about customer service or proper communication, and unless you want to be judged and served based on who you bring to dinner, save your time and stress and go to some other place in West Seneca for dinner.
