Went to the Ale House for our third time and this time it was terrible. Service was not good, didn't have utensils and when we requested them it took 5+ minutes to get them after our food had arrived. When the food did arrive my beer was empty, I was never asked if I wanted another one. I had the Ale House Steak sandwich, it was put together real sloppy, was really spicy which it didn't say on the menu and the ciabatta roll was sliced like a child did it. My daughter's pizza crust was not even edible, it was tough like leather. The fish fry my wife had was dry and the side were oily and bland. read more

Upon us entering, the waitress greeted the couple ahead of us, but did not acknowledge us at all. Finally got sat, and after our drinks arrived and our meal was placed, the bad experience began. It took 30 mins after placing our order for our soup to arrive, and no apology from the waitress about that wait either. French onion soup they offered tasted more like sweet tea with cheese and bread more than savory soup. All the while, our waitress Lauran provided much better service to the two tables next to us, which were 6-party and 7-party. In my opinion, excellent customer service should be given to all patrons at a restaurant, regardless if it's 2, 6, or a high-school football team party. No one is better than any other, but certainly felt that way when I had to ask my waitress for a water refill, which took 10 minutes to get each time. After the whole meal was done (about 1 hour, 15 mins after we had sat down), our check arrived. And low and behold, they up-charge for debit/credit card payment. Nowhere on their property, at their hostess stand, on their menus, or at their tables does it mention an up-charge! But coincidentally, they have a 3rd-party ATM available, in case you'd prefer to pay an ATM fee. And that wasn't the worst of it; I offered my card to Lauran, who swiped it a few times at the POS system right behind me. My dinnermate then saw her leave with my card in her hand, who did not mention that she had to try a different terminal. After 10 more minutes, she finally came back and explained that their credit-debit card system is not working properly and she is speaking with her manager for help; she then asked if I had a different mode of payment. I told her I only had cards, so I offered her a second card. After 15 more minutes of waiting, I checked my own bank account online, and saw that my card got charged properly for this restaurant. As soon as I sat up to find Lauren, she came over to me and suggested if I could use the ATM to possibly pay for my meal. Did not even take upon that rude suggestion; I just showed her my phone and proved my card was charged. She then said "oh great. Let me tell my manager". At this point, it dawned on me: why is she being the middle-man for all of this? Shouldn't the manager be involved directly with the customer? But no, even worse: Lauran walked over to the manager, who was SITTING AT THE BAR! Doesn't even want to give the customer the time of day or apology for this inconvenience. Lauran came back and had me sign the customer copy for her records, all the while apologizing for this machine malfunction. I simply took my card, said "thank you for the meal", then proceeded to the bathroom before leaving. But wait, there's more! After I came out of the bathroom, Lauran stopped me and said that I forgot to tip and asked if I wanted to leave a tip. So let me offer some tips: -To Lauran, don't beg for tips from your customers as they're trying to leave, don't favorite other customers depending on their size of their party, and don't run off with customer's credit cards without explaining where you are going. -To the manager: don't sit while you're staff is working hard, don't send them to communicate with the customers for machine failure or something of that manner, and you BETTER NOT BE DRINKING ON THE JOB! -To potential customers: unless you want to be jipped for extra for using cards instead of cash, unless you want mediocre service from staff who don't have a clue about customer service or proper communication, and unless you want to be judged and served based on who you bring to dinner, save your time and stress and go to some other place in West Seneca for dinner. I definitely like Mooney's better; try them. read more

We visited this place again.....This time I got the BBQ Meatloaf dinner....I am a big stickler when it comes to Meatloaf so stay tuned.....JoJo got the BBQ Chicken Salad..... When it comes to Meatloaf I am a very hard one to please....In fact I can't remember the last time I actually liked a meatloaf out at a restaurant....JoJo makes a couple of different good ones so I am very spoiled.... The BBQ Meatloaf here came with an Ale House Gravy on top it along with Onion Strings...The meatloaf also had decent amount of garlic in it too.....All I can say here is total flavor explosion ! It was soooooooo delicious.....I also ordered a side of BBQ sauce which I used to dip the meatloaf in....Oh yeah, and if you get this don't forget to get a forkfull of meatloaf and Onion Strings at the same time ! Mmmm !! ....It was very tender, and you got quite a large portion.....One of the best meatloafs I have ever eaten !! It came with smashed garlic potatoes which were slightly on the dry side...I actually ordered an extra side of Ale House Gravy which I put on these - definitely made them better.....Other wise I would have called them rather average.... The other side it came with was veggies....That day's veggies were green beans which were very meh IMO...... JoJo thought the salad was probably a 5....It was soo good she didn't even need dressing..... I really want to bump this place up to 5 stars even with the rather average sides....The meatloaf is just that good.....However, we had some problems with this waitress....Again slightly on the slow side as last time....Which that is not a big deal but she just was not that attentive,and we also had problems with the bill.....After speaking with management I was satisfied that they would remedy the problem..... I am always so pleased every time we go to the ale house! The food is phenomenal! They have a great variety of bottled and draft beer. Due to all that is going on with the corona virus, we are so happy they have remained open for takeout a few days a week. I got the greenhouse sandwich with chips and my fiancé got a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. We both LOVED our meals! Lunch today was fine. Actually..it was good, however, the place could benefit from a solid cleaning. Sticky menus and more flies than I've seen in a long time. Sitting inside you can see the outside fixtures covered in black webs. Hosing it off would take a few minutes. Driving around back towards the brewery, there was an old broken cooler, assorted boxes and trash, and mop buckets. Someone needs to clean this place up. Often times on the first really nice day of spring we'll find ourselves as the first ones on their back deck. It's very enjoyable because you're not watching cars pass by. I also usually get the Betty, which is their take on a turkey club. Sage-roasted turkey, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, cranberry mayo, sourdough bread. I get the single because I'm don't eat large portions. Today's sandwich really hit the spot. The bread was toasted absolutely perfectly laying the foundation of a delicious sandwich. This sandwich comes with their house made fries which are fine. I subbed the pasta salad today and felt it to be kinda boring. The only ingredients were penne, some chopped zucchini (which I hate), and red onion with dressing. I've always wondered about it and now I know. No worries though. I just won't order it again. Had a delicious Moscow mule with my meal as well. I love when places make it with Saranac Ginger Beer! I'd be doing you a disservice if I didn't mention their Mon-Fri happy hour. It's the best happy hour in West Seneca in my opinion because you can also enjoy the deck! Both myself and my friend didn't even want to take the leftovers home because it was so bad. We also asked for no onions and they still put them on there. Ebenezer ale house is a great little place! There's the feeling you get here of things being wide open! Plenty of windows! Also the bar area has some high top tables to sit at and grab an adult beverage or even eat dinner at. The ale house also offers a nice bar and has a nice selection of craft beers. They also normally have a beer of the month special as well. As for the food, great! Anything between the po-boys, pizza, burgers, meatloaf and their daily specials are all very good! You really can't go wrong with whatever one you decide on! I been to the Ebenezer ale house ocassionally over the years and will continue to do so! Dumbest bartenders ever! Came here with a small group (5 ppl), the guys ordered pickle back shots and received shot glasses of pickle juice, no whiskey. They charged one guy $2.50 for a seltzer water and kept bringing us the wrong drinks. The bartender at the bar told my friend the waitress would bring the drinks to the table and the waitress at the table told us to order at the bar. This used to be a favorite of ours, but after stopping in on Friday that has changed. The quality of the place has gone down significantly. We sat at the bar and my husband tried ordering two different beers on their draft list, only to be told by a bartender (who was half in the bag herself) they were out. He asked for whatever stout they had, and she poured the worst Guinness pour I've ever seen. Thankfully her barback helped out with the next round. Also, it was very clear this is a "regulars only" type of place : we weren't even given the option of keeping our tab open, and were ignored for most of our time there. I just tried this restaurant again for the first time in a while. The food was way better than I remembered! We ordered nachos as an appetizer which were quite yummy. My sister ordered the meatloaf which was really good, it was served with mashed potatoes and green beans. My friend ordered the mac and cheese which was tasty. I ordered the chopped spinach salad which was served with a warm bacon dressing and had candied bacon which added the most amazing crunch to the salad. It had gobs of goat cheese. It was so good, I would definitely recommend the salad. We were planning to go to the Rusty Nickel Brewing Co behind the restaurant, but they were actually having a craft event so we ended up going back to the Ebenezer Ale House and ordering a couple of beverages. One of our friends ordered quesadillas at the bar which she said were good, but they were loaded with jalapeno peppers, so be warned. The bar is comfortable, the bartender was fantastic. I ordered a blueberry peach cobbler cider which was unique and good and I also had a interesting mojito, I'm not remembering the name right now, but it was really good, would definitely recommend that you check it out. It's kind of the only restaurant/bar in that area of West Seneca anyways, so you may as well try it. Definitely check out the Rusty Nickel behind it if you like the idea of a coffee shop meets bar. Stop here for a quick dinner. Never been here before but was willing to try something new. There is a big sign that says "wait to be seated". We waited for awhile and saw the hostess thru the small window on the door to the kitchen. She kept looking at us but never came out of the kitchen. One of the waitress came by and asked if we been waited on. We told her no but she still continue into the kitchen. Finally when we got seated to the table we got a wonderful waitress who was attentive and always checking to make sure we had everything. The food was the typical bar food but upscale. I had the Steak House Pizza which was really good. My dinner companions had "The Betty" sandwich and the Italian Chicken Pizza. The sandwich was a little dry. Based on my experience here, I have to say, anyone leaving less than five stars had an abnormal visit. We ate here on a Friday evening, during dinner time. Didn't have to wait for a table, parking is a little tight. (Didn't help that some people don't know how to park...) And our server was great, very helpful! The beer selection is very impressive: just enough variety and favorites. They'll do up to 4 free samples. We started with the Cajun chicken strips. Not from the area. Ordered take out off other reviews. Ordered Friday fish fry thinking this is a no brainer in Buffalo. Think again. Fries seemed left over from day before rubbery, gray and tasteless. They may have been fresh cut at some point but not anywhere near the time we got them. They also were more like french fry ends than full fries mostly bottom of basket bits and pieces. Sides also tasteless and old looking. Macaroni salad mushy and brown. Piece of fish was big enough and fairly standard tasting I'll give them that. Ordered the entree Ceaser salad and many lettuce leaves slimy with decay as well as rust colored. Once again looked like it been around awhile and cook couldn't be bother to select what was served except by the rubber gloved handful. Threw everything out except the fish which I made a sandwich from, our bread, our tarter sauce, our lettuce. I realize that in takeout there is no sending food back and so it seems, did they. Ambiance: there's a great cabin feel. I'm from NYC originally so I LOVE eating like a place like this in the country. It feels so surreal. And it isn't super loud even though people around us were all driving. It was perfect/ cozy. 10/10 Customer service: they get pretty busy, or are short staffed. Food: I ate the hot Cajun wings which came with celery sticks and ranch dressing upon request. Display was okay and dressing was spilled out onto celery and wings before hand. Don't get it if you're on a diet. Looks plain like food you make at home but you're okay if you don't care about food display like I do. 8/10. Prices: reasonable. My wings were $10/11, and the Mac and cheese was about the same price. The food doesn't disappoint. The fish fry has the most flavorful batter I've ever had. The Mac salad was alright, certainly not bad but I do enjoy a creamier Mac salad with a fish fry. Fries great. Coleslaw was coleslaw. A friend got hand maid chips with her Reuben and was impressed. I was impressed by the shear amount of meat on the sandwich. Me and my husband were there tonight trying to grab a bite to eat. We have been there in the past and the food is always good. Tonight we were seated and after being seated no one ever came to our table. Not even to be acknowledged. We waited 15 to 20 minutes and nothing! The food here was incredible! As appetizers we had the bacon wrapped shrimp as well as the stuffed pepper bombs and for dinner I had the Hangover burger with sweet potato fries. This isn't something I would normally order, however I'm so happy I did. The bacon was cooked to perfection and the sweet potato fries came with a honey dipping sauce. I would recommend this to anyone! My only complaint is how long the food took to come out. I really like coming to Ebenezer Ale House, but the experience is ALWAYS hit or miss. Sometimes the service and the food is wonderful and other times the service is less than desirable. It is also a very loud restaurant- you will hear everyone's conversations all at once unless you are seated in the lower area. I did recently try their take out, and that was surprisingly good! I ordered my favorite, the Green House sandwich and sweet potato fries- they were great but a little soggy (as take out can be sometimes). Waitress didn't want to give couples separate checks --- too much work? We had called prior to booking the reservation to be sure they would do this. Then she still considered us a group of over 7 (we had 8) so she could use the rule that any "group" over 7 would have 20% added to their bill as a tip. Ironically she lost money because we would have tipped her more than she demanded - and because we had separate checks she made the decision to add the 20% which tells me she isn't confident in the quality of her service. She could not describe or answer questions about the beers. She was told that a cloudy beer was not desirable - but that is exactly what she brought. It is noisy. The food arrived - in shifts. One of my friends ordered a taco dish that she said was dry and bland. My dish appeared fine but after a few bites I noticed thin strands of some kind of plastic. I picked out four of them and put them on a napkin. My husband said it was plastic. I should have taken a picture. I gave it to the waitress and asked her to go ask the manager and chef what they were. I assumed they would care. I was wrong. She came back and said they were strands of cheese. REALLY. I told her I didn't like being lied to or treated like an idiot. The "cheese" in my sandwich was melted. The PLASTIC strands were hard and you could pick them up and feel them. I didn't eat the rest. She did not offer to replace the meal Plastic doesn't digest well. I did ask to speak to the manager but they told me he wasn't working. I also noticed bare legged waitresses in shorts. Interesting. I wasn't aware regulation about bare legs on staff in dine in restaurants had changed. Thankfully there are other establishments in the area who have managers on duty to respond to food issues. We will patronize them. Sadly this current establishment/business is nothing like the original Greenhouse Cafe. They can't use the Covid excuse anymore. read more

This place must have undergone a change in management. This used to be our go-to place for dinner and drinks, especially in summer on the patio. After several trips with really bad food and service we stopped going here. I hope this place gets new management soon and goes back to the quality it once had. Until then, I won't be going back. Fantastic happy hour specials including half price apps - despite the reduced price, they are normal size and incredibly delicious. I ate my entire chicken quesadilla because it was just too good to stop. Great beer selection with a lot of craft beers on tap that you don't see in other places. Reduced prices for happy hour on even the best beers. If you're looking for a nice outdoor patio, this is a great choice. Although the view is lacking (nice blacktop parking lot ....), on a nice summer day you don't really mind. The inside of the restaurant is just as inviting. Table service was excellent. Very prompt and attentive. Our waitress was more than happy to split our bill however we wanted. Bartenders were not quite as friendly but they were quick and efficient. read more
