New storefront on Columbus in North Beach. Nice positive interior. Got spicy salmon roll, mochi, and a Hawaiian drink. Fun to sit in the shop. Serves sushi.

Fresh sushi, sashimi and sides, fast and friendly service by staff, clean, quiet and vibrant place for takeout or dine in at a small bar table along the window

Ebiko is really clean and upon entering, there is a huge fridge that holds all their sushi that you grab and then pay at the counter. The prices are quite inexpensive. Omakase Value(4.5/5) Inexpensive less than $20 Taste(3/5) a couple of pieces of fish didn't taste fresh and the nigiris are pretty bland. California roll Value(3/5) $9 for real crab california rolls is pretty standard but you do get a few more pieces than elsewhere Taste(3.5/5) personally I like my California rolls a bit creamier. The crab itself tastes very clean and fresh. Salmon aburi Value(5/5) $13 is well priced for amount of salmon you get Flavor (4.5/5) Personally my favorite item here. The smokiness from the sear with the fattiness of the salmon was delectable. This is a great spot for quick and easy sushi for a decent meal.

This place was good, dont get me wrong. But after aji kichi, it is hard to compare objectively. I think it is good for the prices, but if i could have a choice i might go to ani. That being said, the flavors are what you expect from sushi and the lack of fishiness makes this place worth the price point. Honestly, you wanted something more quick, i would definitely go here and have more of that eel

Such fresh fish and they restock throughout the day! We pulled up around 40 mins before closing at 5pm and we were surprised to see the staff still making fresh rolls. We lucked out and got the seared salmon nigiri, the salmon sashimi, California roll and seaweed salad. Everything was amazingly priced and the California roll was real crab yumm. The fish was fresh didn't taste fishy and the quality was solid. Not to mention there is room to enjoy your meal and even drinks you can buy as well. We had a great time and would recommend for anyone nearby who wants to try. We noticed they stayed open past 5pm so if you're in a rush maybe they'll still be open :)

My friend and I were just walking back from tennis and I just needed water or something sparkling so we walked into here. From the outside it's super eye catching with its bright clean lines and once you walk inside it's bustling with people and a cute selection of sushi, drinks, and some snacks. I mainly walked into to check out the interior and it's a comfortable feel! I only grabbed water and ume sparkling but I noticed a lot of people grabbing the sushi which looks super bright. My friend and I will be going back to try the food on our way back from another tennis session! I definitely want to try the California roll and eel! Check it out!

Yum yum yum. The fish was super fresh. There's a couple of seats, but there's a park across the street to enjoy the food. A lot of selection, ended up getting the Omakase sampler ($16.99). Sushi prices range from $4.50 - $18.50 (March 2026), large variety of fish, chirashi, to uni. Hard choices to make, but all the items looked super delicious. Quick checkout and the space was clean. My favorite from the omakase sample was the o toro. Overall, good quality fish and easy to enjoy on the go.

This is a really nice and spacious location. We walked in on a Friday around opening time and they had a full spread/options. Their fish appears and tastes super fresh and they have really great prices. You can take it to go but we sat it since it was not full. They provided us with chopsticks, ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. The space is well kempt and very clean. Also in a great location in north beach.

I'm a fan. For the area, this is a great take and go or take and eat spot for those in the area. Walking by on my way to a Lent Friday lunch, I noticed this addition to this block of Columbus Street where there is no shortage of lunch choices. I made a point to have lunch two weeks later. Being pretty warm, I planned to get my food and dine inside though many (including the irrepressible Cherlynn N. (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=eKUGKQRE-Ywi5dY55_zChg)), give the great suggestion to bring your food to Washington Square Park. Seating is limited with four high top counter seats, a table for two and a small counter table for two with side by side chairs. After looking at the refrigerator (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=QjEQOJ3dK9_z8Mirhbd5jw), I selected three items and walked to the cashier counter. I remembered seeing miso soup on the menu and asked the helpful cashier; she kindly went there are brought a box back in ringing it up with my other food. She also asked whether I wanted to add hot water to it now and I said yes. After paying, I moved my food away from the pay area so other customers could pay for their food. I walked to one of the window high-chairs and placed my shopping bag on the chair while carrying a couple items to the counter. I went back to the cashier to get my utensils and condiments (pickled ginger, wasabi, soy sauce packets, chopsticks, and napkins) along with my last food container. Being the only hot item, I started on the miso soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=YGV-gn2pGqVCNS2VML8n4Q), tofu, wakame, green onions, dashi, miso first; there is no shortage of seaweed as they expanded when hydrated and there was plenty of tofu on the bottom. My big mistake was forgetting to mix the ingredients thoroughly as there were miso paste globs that didn't dissolve until I finished more than half of the soup. Do make sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly. For my main meal, I tried the Bara chirashi (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=KHGnwNzysmJ8w-Y7cyhb6w), bluefin tuna, salmon, snow crab, bura, shiso, tobiko, tamago, rice; besides being enticing visually, the flavors of the ingredients were enjoyable. The fish pieces were fresh and the ikura gave this a flavor burst while the tobiko and shredded crab gave it a crunch and lightness. Later that evening, I paired the spicy tuna roll (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=s8uYLUbml0yB9toMU_Txwg), spicy tuna, mayo, cucumber, sesame seeds, rice, seaweed, with a bowl of soup for my dinner. It was tasty and fresh, just like my lunch chirashi and I enjoyed having it while fresh. Thanks to the kind cashier for helping me get the miso container from the fridge and filling it was water. Also, when walking to the dining section, do be careful as I accidentally spilled some of the water from the miso as the ingredients expanded as I walked. I grabbed some napkins to wipe up the hardwood floor to prevent people from slipping. I will dine here again and likely take food to go from here too. This is an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

happened to be in the area and just dropped by. it's more of a grab-and-go sushi spot. we got the salmon aburi to try, pretty solid. super convenient and the price isn't bad either, nice quick stop if you're nearby.

Ebiko is a grab and go sushi spot in north beach right near Washington square park. It's very clean with cold drinks, snacks, and sushi. There's a couple bar stools near a window so limited seating. They provide nice chopsticks and soy sauce to go as well. They have a great selection for reasonable prices. We got the chef's omakase. The sushi was buttery, fresh, not too fishy at all. I really enjoyed the quality of the fish. The rice was cooked well too- not too mushy, not too hard. I am a big fan! I think this is a good spot to grab sushi and have a nice park day!

Definitely worth every penny and so affordable! I absolutely love Ebiko. This newest location is so good and completely my vibe. The ambience is bright, clean, and minimal, and it genuinely feels like one of those cozy one-stop sushi shops in Japan. Everything about it feels so intentional, from the design to the way the food is displayed. The owners are super nice and the workers are very attentive. I love seeing the chefs continuously come to the front to restock, which shows that everything is made fresh throughout the day. The quality and presentation are both amazing. They also have a selection of Japanese snacks and drinks, which adds to the fun and authenticity of the experience. I just love the whole theme and concept of this place. *Omakase Nigiri - mixed variety of salmon, scallop, toro, tuna, and ikura ($16.99) *Salmon Aburi - seared salmon with that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture ($12.50) *Mini Uni Don - creamy, rich, and perfectly portioned ($8.50) *Spicy Tuna Roll - fresh, flavorful, and balanced spice ($8.99) This newest location is absolutely my favorite. I really hope they open more locations in the Bay Area, especially in San Jose, but for now I'll always make it a point to stop by Ebiko whenever I get the chance!

    Omakase Set - superb!

TLDR: Outstanding quality and a tightly curated sushi selection for a grab n go sushi place. Consider this a high end to-go sushi lunch joint. The rice and fish is PERFECT here.. just the right temperature and the fish - oh so good, tender and melty on your tongue beyond belief. I savor every bite. Pretty much everything here outstrips all the usual average sit-down Japanese places for sushi, to say nothing of supermarket "sushi".. My Favorites: Omakase Set - always good! With this you get seven pieces of Nigiri - a couple of pieces of Salmon Nigiri, 1x Ikura Maki, 1x Bluefin Otoro, 1 pc Akami, 1-2 Chutoro . Great for the main! Salmon Aburi - 5x Big pieces! Super tender! Mini Uni Don - small, but delectable accompanied with plenty of !kura over a small cup of rice. This is a great side that I enjoyed with my Omakase set. Other offerings: Chirashi - on my list, but I always fall hard for the Omakase set! Non-raw options: California Roll - with real snow crab - again, I prefer my favorites above Unagi Nigiri - overshadowed by all the rest! Served light on the Unagi sauce. Inari & Seaweed also available. The prices are VERY reasonable for the quality you get here. lower prices than sit-down sushi places with this caliber of fish. Inside you'll find a Modern, bright and spacious interior. Head for the grab n go case, grab what ya like, scan the drinks and snacks on your right and head for the cashier. Don't forget to grab a pair of their nice chopsticks, wasabi/ginger and soy on your way out. There is some limited seating inside with a small two person table along the wall, and a tall counter by the window facing the street. If it's fully occupied, I just head over to Washington Park down the block and eat there. Friendly service too. We've been to their other location in Oakland several times - call us a regular there almost! I hear their FiDi location is super popular too. I'm stoked to see this latest location in the heart of North Beach! I'll be back here every chance I get.

Food 4/5: we ordered the pork katsu rice bento with mini creamy ramen and the Yu Ling chi chicken bento with the spicy miso mini ramen. Everything tasted fresh and hot. We particularly liked the pork katsu, it was perfectly crispy, juicy and well seasoned with the katsu sauce. The ramen didn't have much topping (just scallion and Naruto) but the soup and noodles texture were great. I was looking forward to the Yu Lin chi chicken but was not a big fan of the sauce flavor, it was salty and slightly one note. Rice was well cooked in the bento but I could do without the edamame, they weren't cooked long enough so it was hard to get out of the shell and bland. Service 3/5: we were seated pretty immediately but had to wait quite awhile before anyone served us, it might be because we were more towards the corner and the restaurant was busy. We had to get up to find a server to help us with checking out because no one ever came to check up on us. Ambiance 4/5: nice space, slightly cramped, but generally nice with the exposed brick walls and high ceiling. There's also outdoor seating available here.

We walked into a refined but welcoming space where the sushi counter is the main focus, and the meal unfolds course by course in front of us. There is a sense of calm throughout the room, allowing the attention to stay on the chefs, the ingredients, and the details behind each dish without the distraction of a busy dining room. The omakase experience balances traditional sushi with more creative touches. Each course brings something different, from fresh sashimi and nigiri to warmer dishes like chawan mushi that add depth to the progression of the meal. The sushi highlights the quality of the fish while incorporating thoughtful flavor combinations, with dishes like scallop and the dry-aged fish courses standing out for their texture and seasoning. The sake pairing fits naturally into the experience, adding another layer without overpowering the food, and the sommelier's selections complement the progression of flavors across the meal. What makes Kusakabe memorable is the craftsmanship and pacing of the meal. The chefs take time to explain each course, making the experience feel personal rather than rushed. Sitting at the counter adds to the atmosphere because you get to see the precision and care that goes into every piece, from the way the rice is formed to the final brush of sauce on the fish. The omakase was delicious and more traditional than other places, each course was so beautiful and delicately made. For $18, you get an incredible spread: * your choice of gyoza, shumai, or tofu * a California roll or avocado roll * a protein of your choice Plus it all comes with edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad. Honestly? That's my kind of deal. Everything we tried was delicious. In addition to the lunch box, we ordered a dragon roll and a dynamite roll, both of which were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. My husband went with the Una Ten Donburi. It was tasty, but at $30, it did feel a bit steep compared to the rest of the menu. The restaurant looked like your typical Japanese style space with the sushi rollers at the entrance and simple tables and decor. I do have two minor negatives worth mentioning. First, the edamame was cold and unsalted. I'm an edamame lover, and nothing beats it hot, freshly steamed, and generously showered in salt. So that was a little disappointing. Second, our server (I believe his name was Kayz) seemed visibly annoyed when we asked to split the check. As a server myself, I know this isn't rocket science, and guests should never be made to feel uncomfortable for something so standard, especially after there had already been a small mix-up with our roll order (we received two dynamite rolls instead of one dynamite and one dragon). We didn't make a fuss at the time because mistakes happen, but the attitude at the end definitely stood out. That said, the food itself was solid, the lunch special is a fantastic value, and overall we still had a good experience. I would absolutely return and would recommend this spot, just hoping for a smoother service experience next time.

However, at the last minute, I went with the $19 Ika Yaki, a whole BBQ squid sliced and saturated in teriyaki sauce with a dab of shichimi mayo (Photo 8). The portion was generous and the texture was firm with enough elasticity. Unfortunately the teriyaki sauce did nothing to enhance the dish, and I wished they served it on the side. I also ordered the $8 Agedashi Tofu, usually a foolproof appetizer for me. It certainly looked right (Photo 9), but I was unpleasantly surprised how tongue-burning hot it was. The cubes of tofu must've just come right out of the deep fryer. The dashi broth helped calm the heat down but a little too late. I'm sure glad I sprung for the $3 bowl of Rice (Photo 10). "Inexpensive Japanese in downtown San Francisco financial district"…read more My son and I stopped here for dinner randomly on a Friday night just before 6pm. He just visited Japan a few months ago and had a hankering for some chicken katsu. It's a small, narrow establishment, not far from the See's Candy store, but well-lit. One orders on a set of tablets at the front of the restaurant and then sits down. I ordered the chicken katsu don, which has the chicken katsu above vegetables, rice, and egg. My son wanted the chicken katsu curry rice, and also was eager for the Takoyaki (which has octopus). There was a complementary water station in the back (which we didn't notice before ordering bottles). I was impressed the entrees were all under $20 before tax and tip-- great for downtown SF. We didn't anticipate complementary miso soup, but we got it, and it was tasty. The takooyaki arrived next-- maybe 6 pieces and quite good. When you pop it in your mouth and bite, you get a burst of milk-like flavor in you mouth. I frankly couldn't taste the octopus, but that's OK... it was still yummy. I really liked my chicken katsu don-- I wanted some veggies, and the cabbage underneath was good, as was the seasoning. The chicken itself was excellent. My son said it wasn't quite as good as in Japan but agreed it was still good. The portion size was big-- I wasn't quite able to finish all the rice in mine. Service was fine-- I don't remember them checking on us after we got food, but we really didn't need anything since we'd already paid, water was available, etc. The restaurant itself was clean, too. I did stop at the washroom upstairs, and it had nice wooden floors, a large plant, etc., and clean overall. Overall, a solid choice at an amazing price for the area, so I'm happy to give 5 stars.

Stopped by on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait in line. I got the hire katsu (tenderloin)…read morewhile my friend got the regular tonkatsu. Food came out quickly and service was fine. The tables and floors were a bit sticky and dirty which is why I knocked off a star. Overall this is not a bad spot though and the katsu was good, not dry.
