Fluffy with great flavor. Excellent syrup to match pancakes and the whipped cream and butter were great adds. Chicken sandwich was flavorful with the most amazing aoili which was slightly sweet and rich at same time. Served with freah chips. Streak and frites was the only knock. I had the steak medium but still a bit tough and not as tender as expected. But the eggs and fries made up for it. I had eggs scrambled and it was fluffy. The shoestring fries were crispy and yum! My wife and I chose Echo & Rig for our 17th anniversary because it's the only place we've found serving grass-fed/finished steak. Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality standards ruined what should have been a premium dining experience. Because we look young for our age, we were subjected to casual, patronizing ageism that upscale establishments should train their staff to avoid and some of the food was as bad as their attitudes. Upon arrival, the hostess ignored us until we spoke, demanding to know if we had a reservation with an unwarranted attitude. Her mood adjust a bit after I confirmed. After seating us, she clumsily asked my wife if it was "her anniversary," looked at me, and blurted, "Oops, I meant your anniversary. You two are together" before walking off. This was our second visit; the first was overly salty, but we chalked it up to a busy Friday. This time was worse. Our watermelon, cucumber, and onion salad consisted of flavorless white rind and tough cucumber skins tossed on a plate. My wife's steak arrived completely charred on the outside while remaining raw on the inside. Luckily, my steak was edible enough to share so we didn't have to ruin the night sending hers back. Furthermore, the restaurant's acoustics are incredibly poor. The dark booths have an echo and tables placed so far apart that you can barely hear the person across from you; we even witnessed another couple request to move. Later, when I asked for the bill, the waitress made a condescending remark about how "ready" I was with my card. Treating me like a young boy playing adult rather than a paying corporate professional. Despite our milestone being noted, she never once acknowledged the anniversary. Looking young or being a diverse couple should never dictate the level of respect you receive. We paid in full and still tipped well, because this failure falls squarely on management. We had a lovely lunch at Echo & Rig recently. I ordered the Drunken Goat, while my husband sampled the Pure Black Bavette and my son had their Creekstone Prime New York Strip. We sat on the outdoor patio as we had our small dog with us and it was a bit warm but most of the shaded options were taken. The service was solid. Our waiter Justin took our order but unfortunately after a while was advised by the kitchen that they were out of the Red Wine-Marinated Goat Cheese for my meal. He apologized and brought me a menu to choose something else but I was worried that my boys would have to continue to wait for their meals if I ordered anything too large so I asked for their Pork Belly Burnt Ends appetizer. I also asked him if they could bring out the plates for the gentleman when they were ready and not wait for me as it was getting pretty warm and we were quite hungry. He made sure that happened and my boys got their meals soon after. He also made my app on the house which was very sweet. He is excellent at his job. The meat was all cooked to perfection and the Charred Onion sauce was delicious! When my appetizer came out it was small but flavorful and my son and husband really enjoyed their meals. Dined here several times when I used to live in the area. When we visit we attempt to go back as it is convenient to the hotel. Variety of standard selections. Portabelo fries were amazing. Soups are good. The bone marrow asada needs some work. We go the tomahawk with broccoli, and mac/cheese and the portions are large which I completely forgot... Tried some of their specialty cocktails which are on the sweeter side. Service was good frequent checks and refills. I do recommend getting a cut with sides from the beginning as portions can be large. Then if still hungry add in the small plates and other. On a work trip to Sacramento I was thrilled when I learned that there was an echo and rig in the area I was going to be visiting. Having been to the one in Las Vegas last summer I had been dreaming of their signature burger since. It was everything I remembered it being; juicy, flavorful, perfect umami taste in every bite. We were served by Isa, who had tremendous customer service, excellent knowledge of the menu, and made our evening feel very special. On top of that the food was phenomenal. We started with the burnt ends, thick cut bacon, and crab cake... each of which were absolutely delicious. It was clear that, even as steakhouses go, this is a craft and an art for Echo & Rig. We went to Echo and Rig for my birthday as it serves halal steaks (Creekstone). We made a reservation which allowed us to get in quick. The ambiance was very nice and it felt like everyone was there celebrating their birthdays. The server we had was amazing and even the manager came out to wish me a Happy Birthday! They were very attentive to our dietary restrictions. I would make sure to let them know you only eat halal as they do use beef tallow on their steak and potato chips which is not halal. With that onto the food: Bread/ butter: it was absolutely delicious. One of the best breads I've been served as it was warm and the butter room temperature. I would go back just for the bread. Burrata and focaccia with burnt orange sauce: this one was good. The orange sauce was a little too strong for me but the focaccia bread was good. Along with the sauce is chefs kiss! For drinks I got: Pig & The Lady- it's is tropical and delicious! Tart from the passion fruit. This drink is so good! A unique creation the bartender whipped up, it's like a cosmo but with tequila. When I was ordering a second sip, they ran out of gin for that drink. So the bartender said I'll whip something up. Very cool. Service is nice and helpful. The place is connected to the Sawyer hotel so you would go across the hotel lobby to use the restroom. Service felt seamless. The portobello fries were fresh, crispy, and flavorful with a perfect dipping sauce, definitely a highlight. I ordered the zabuton steak. It was cooked and salted perfectly, but I probably wouldn't order this cut again. The flavor was very beef-forward , almost like burger meat in steak form. Not bad, just not my preference. Steaks come with house-made kettle chips and one Rockefeller mushroom. All other sides are à la carte. The chips, while house-made, are still just chips. The mushroom unfortunately didn't hit .. it was very dry and shriveled. The berry "shortcake" also missed the mark for me. The hibiscus was extremely chewy, and the shortcake itself was savory with a firm, almost hard biscuit texture, not what I expect when ordering shortcake. The ice cream was good, but overall the dessert was just okay. Ambiance is medium upscale with a romantic edge with a good mix of after-work diners and date nights. We had the chance to try Echo & Rig the day before Mother's Day, and overall it was a great experience. For small plates, we ordered the portobello mushroom fries and the pork belly burnt ends. The mushroom fries were delicious, especially paired with the dipping sauce on the side. The pork belly burnt ends were packed with flavor and had an amazing glaze. The portion was definitely on the smaller side, but still worth it for the taste. For drinks, we tried the Blueberry Bliss, Pig & Lady, and the Blackberry Margarita. The Blackberry Margarita was easily our favorite -- not overly sweet and perfectly balanced with the margarita mix. For the main course, the three of us shared the porterhouse bone-in, tomahawk bone-in, and the ribeye cap filet. All three steaks were incredible, but the porterhouse stood out as the best overall. The marbling was perfect, and every steak was cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were a little underseasoned, but honestly paired well with the richness and saltiness of the steaks. The mac & cheese, however, was absolutely outstanding. The only downside was the ambiance due to how busy Mother's Day weekend was. The restaurant was extremely smoky and very hot inside, and it seemed like there wasn't enough ventilation. We completely understand longer wait times during a busy holiday weekend, but it would've been more comfortable with better airflow. Even some of the staff near the front looked overheated and were fanning themselves. That said, our server Christian made the experience even better. Been wanting to try this place for a while and since it's pretty pricey, wanted to wait for a special occasion to come. (They validate parking for 2 hours.) This is a place that butchers their own meat. I ordered Bernaise sauce that had to be spoiled because it smelled like butter milk. I have never ever tasted Bernaise sauce so terrible before and no tarragon to be found, must be a mix as it was so thick. When we told the girl the Bernaise sauce smelled and tastes bad, she said I just didn't like theirs. She immediately started bagging our food not really offering dessert until we asked. I was really excited as I wanted to compare the flavors between Kurobuta pork and Duroc pork. My wife loved he fish, it's her new favorite. My pork chop came out underdone, they offered to remake it and brought out a new one, but honestly, it was done but overcooked. I finished it as well, you never waste protein, need those gains (lol) Here is why the rating was still a four: mistakes happen. The combo of red onion, cauliflower, and broccoli gave it some body, and the chile lime vinaigrette added a zippy, tangy brightness that kept it interesting. But what it really needed was more crunch. A little more texture would have taken this from good to amazing. Still, it's a creative, bold side that's worth a try Bone Marrow Carne Asada (2/5): This dish felt like it came from an entirely different kitchen, and not in a good way. The bone marrow was barely there, both in flavor and portion, and the generous heap of onions on top made it seem like they were trying to hide that fact. The carne asada itself was fine at best, underseasoned and forgettable. The bread it came with was serviceable, but I actually ended up using the house bread instead (which says a lot). The Mrs. wanted to have a nice steak dinner date before seeing a movie at the DOCO. Upon walking in, did notice some of the booths have some massive tears and patched up with duct tape. Upon being seated, 3 people came up to us to ask us if it was our first time and we were also asked by the hostess who walked us to our table. Seemed excessive and shows lack of cohesion with the front of house. We ordered some cocktails, a gin city and a dress to empress. My wife liked her cocktail ok but quickly switched to wine. My gin city was not well balanced. It sat with 2 sips taken almost the entire service and no one asked me about it. We started with thick cut bacon, roasted broccolini, shrimp cocktail, fried spinach salad (I know, but someone recommended it), a bavette steak, and a ribeye cap steak. What I liked: cook of the steaks were on point. The thick cut bacon was solid. What was fine: The broccolini had a decent smoky quality to it. What needed help: The shrimp cocktail came with 3 shrimp for $18. Kind of a weird number for an item often shared between 2 people and certainly not a good value at $6 per shrimp. I don't like that they include zero weights for the steaks. Most great steakhouses will do this. What I hated: The sides that come with the steak are poorly executed and unnecessary. The potato chips were burnt and completely unseasoned. The stuffed mushrooms were dry and tasted of almost nothing (very underseasoned). So much prep and cost to have these sides just drag down the overall value/experience. They just became a nuisance that I had to eat around because there was no way I was gonna eat it all. The fried spinach salad was a greasy over-dressed mess. Would have never ordered this without a recommendation, but this thing isn't even a salad nor is it executed well. I see that this place wants to be upscale, but it's not. The front of house hasn't improved since they opened (2019??). The cocktails aren't great but they are just as expensive as anywhere else. The sides for the steak are a crime. Just leave them off! This still feels like a place that can't quite figure it out. Granted, Sac is kind of a terrible steak town so that has worked in favor of weaker steak experiences à la Echo and Rig, but I doubly this place has what it takes to truly last. Overall, the steaks were not cooked the way we wanted them to be cooked. We asked for medium well and it looked like it was cooked raw and just charred. Also the rare steak was cooked well done. Also got the Branzino, they weren't raving about it. Overall experience, the food was OK. The ambience is really pretty. It's gorgeous inside of here. However, the service everyone here was so angry. It was not busy at all when we came and everyone looked like they were just pissed off from the moment we walked in. They probably had been open an hour and there may have been a handful of people in the restaurant. The server was really rude when my friend asked about which fish to order, he wanted to comment on how this is a steak restaurant so it's not their thing. Overall opinion, I don't know that I would eat here again. I'd probably give this place the two out of five just because it's really pretty. But there's other places to try with better food and friendlier staff. read more

This was our 2nd time attempting to eat at Echo & Rig, first time the wait was too long but the 2nd time I made a reservation and got in! So on to the visit, we had a reservation at 6:30 and was sat at 6:30 which was great! The food, we loved the bread and the Caesar salad. The oyster were smaller the expected but the mignonette was delicious. I asked the waitress which steak she would suggest and she suggested filet tenderloin or the Spencer, I went with the Spencer it was cooked well but under seasoned. The chimichurri added a lot of flavor, the roasted garlic mash was good but also under salted. My husband got the swordfish and he enjoyed it. The restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff was really good. The manager even came over to welcome us since it was our first visit. I would go back again and try a different steak. read more

My significant other and I made a reservation for 8:45pm on a Saturday night and we only waited for a few minutes to be seated! The interior was sleek and modern imo and it gave good vibes. i was seated facing towards the kitchen and i like the open kitchen concept, it's kind of fun to peek over once in a while to look! For appetizers we got the: - 1/2 Oysters: i honestly don't remember what the name of the oysters were, they were on the smaller side but veryyyyy fresh and veryyy goooood!! i also liked the small attention to detail they had because the lemon also had a covering so the seeds wouldn't fall out! - Burnt Pork Belly Ends: i thought the pork belly itself was good but the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste so it wasn't my favorite - Mac and Cheese: We got this complimentary from our waiter which was soo sweet because we were debating on this and the pork belly ends and he said it complimented each other and he was right! it was sooo good and sooo cheesy and creamy and the breadcrumbs on the top helped give it a lil bit of texture! chefs kiss hehe I got the: - Ribeye Steak Sandwhich: first of all, the chips in the side were so addicting lol you can tell they were freshly made and i just loved the crunch. The sandwhich itself was also delicious, the steak was cooked well and i had some fatty parts (which are my fav) and the aoili complimented it very well. I would probably get it again LOL For drinks, I got the Hot Mess and my significant other got the Cucumber Cooler but with tequila added. Both were good and quite refreshing. Shout out to Isa for giving us recommendations on which drinks to get, she was very sweet and talked and took care of us a bit before she had to leave! Huge shoutout to Jorge for being such a sweet server! He came by and checked on us constantly to make sure everything was okay and made sure we didn't need anything. He gave us solid recommendations and gave us the mac and cheese and dessert on the house! So my food is always delicious here! I've been 3 times now. Yesterday we went for Father's Day for my dad. Soon as we walk in we notice it's REALLY WARM inside. Very uncomfortable temperatures! Not sure why the restaurant is so hot! The light in our booth was off so it was pretty dark. But all the booth lights were off so maybe they come on during a certain time. Then a fight breaks out and it's taking a long time to break up. That scared me because it felt like it was moving slowly towards our table. Right outside of the golden 1 center , the ambience was very elegant. Came to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday . They gave us a complimentary bread and butter. We also got a kale salad , that was really good! Very light and refreshing. We all ordered the Spencer cut that was served with chips and a stuffed mushroom Rockefeller . The Mac and cheese was good. The only thing I would complain, is that I did not like the chimichurri sauce they had. It lacked so much flavor and I only tasted the olive oil . Was very upset about that , gratefully our server was very calm and understanding and replaced it with the charred onion sauce. It was better , had more flavor than the chimichurri .
