Car wouldn't go into gear when I dropped it off this morning. They fixed the issue and didn't charge me a dime!!! I dropped in without an appointment at 8am and was met by the owner Steve Bellamy. He is an energetic, enthusiastic genuinely nice person. First he offered me fresh brewed coffee or fruit and then asked me a few questions. He introduced me to his Manager Anthony Hughes, who then took over the diagnostics. He drove my car and did not find the gears slipping. He decided to check the computer codes. They found a few repairs that needed to be made but did not think it was my transmission. They recommended James at German Automotive on West Texas. The estimate was FREE just like promised on their website. They were very professional and friendly. My check engine light came on and I immediately went into stress mode! I was referred to Edco by another auto repair shop for fear it could be my transmission. I was told to ask for Anthony. Anthony greeted me as I walked in the door with a bright smile. He listened as I explained my situation. I'm a nursing student and I can't afford to be without my car, not even for one day. Even more I need this car to last me. I'm almost done with school and can't afford a car payment at this time. He could sense my high stress. He calmly explained that he would do his best to take care of my situation but right now he wanted me to get to my class that was starting in an hour so he provided me with a loaner vehicle. Wow! I was not expecting that at all. My mind was panicked as I was trying to figure out who I could call for a ride. I headed off to class but in the back of my mind I was stressed not knowing if I was ultimately going to have to make a very difficult decision. These folks installed a transmission in my daughter's car several years ago. So when the transmission on my Dodge Truck (1997 with 163k miles) had a part fall out / began slipping from 1st to 2nd, EDCO folks recommended a rebuilt transmission. I am a first time reviewer.Very,very busy person with little time to write. Just couldn't let the service I got at Edco go without acknowledgement.I have Toyota trucks and do most of my own maintenance.I admittedly know very little about automatic transmissions though.Took my Tacoma in for a fluid change and filter cleanse. Had new motor oil,filter,and air filter sitting in truck that i was going to put in that afternoon.When I arrived to pick up my truck (it was done early),I discovered that Anthony had changed it all out for me while he was draining the trans fluid.No extra charge. Who does that ??? Very Satisfied with the service i received. Steve and Anthony were great!!!! Took my car in on a Tuesday. It ended up needing a new transmission. I let them know I didn't need it before the weekend, but they made it happen anyway. I got it back on Friday right after lunch. These guys are great. I'm a mechanic, and I don't generally work on transmissions. The transmission on my Envoy failed and I was able to replace it with a junkyard unit. I disassembled the bad one and took the parts to them and one of their mechanics took time from his lunch break to let me know which parts were salvageable. No pressure to buy a transmission from them or anything. Just an honest evaluation and suggestions. Got my car back from EDCO. I try to do as much repair work as possible, and in this case, I didn't get everything quite right when putting it back together. It was a simple misalignment with the shift linkage. They dropped the pan, made it right, and put it back togethet. THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DIME. GREAT SHOP! HIGHLY RECCOMEND. Just got done here and literally had one of the best experiences of my entire life at a shop. Okay so I started breaking down on the freeway on my way to Reno. Breakdown happened at about 730 a.m and I hobbled into the shop right at opening at 8. He had three people underneath my truck looking at it right away and was able to tell me the problem and if they could fix it. He understood my urgency to get to Reno and was able to allocate the parts, people and time to get me out of the door by noon. I am so appreciative of Steve and his business. They replaced my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder transmission and radiator in two days, provided me with a free rental car, and charged $2,000 less than the dealer quoted me. They also replaced my corroded battery cable connector for free. After the job was completed Steve (the owner) personally called me to make sure I was satisfied with the work. They also gave me a 50,000 mile/3-year warranty, which blows away all other transmission shops that I called (including the dealer). It's great to be back on the road. This is the best transmission shop in the north bay. I can't stand the city of Fairfield or the location of the shop but when you're good at something these things don't matter. Anthony will take care of you and his staff will do a great job. I had a clutch replaced on my 03 civic si and man do I have some power. Anthony at EDCO was amazing!! I thought I had a transmission leak and he told me to bring it in for a free estimate/inspection. He not only found the culprit (loose nut) but he fixed it and refilled my transmission fluid right on the spot! Then he didn't want to charge me anything... I still paid him for the services rendered and told him I'd be back if it reoccurred or I had other problems. Anthony was really great to work with because he showed and explained every aspect of the job and was COMPLETELY honest!! I would trust him 100% with any repairs that he would do for my vehicles and recommend him to anyone that has transmission problems. I took my truck now n with what another service place said was a leak in the transmission. Steve had his people take a look and determined it to be just a "grime" build up. I brought my car in thinking I had a transmission problem. The person I spoke to, Anthony, was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. I came to Edco to get my Transmission repaired, they we nice and I was charged $3,500 and 60 thousand miles later the Transmission went out, I returned to Edco to have it repaired and they had different workers there and the new manager wanted to charged me $3,500 again, I felt ripped off, Transmissions should last longer then 60 thousand miles especially when the maintenance is kept up. I later learned from an ex-employee that the Transmission that was installed in my truck was a use one of the shelf, so Edco charged me $3,500 for a used Transmission rather then doing the job as agreed for a rebuilt Transmission.. If you go to Edco, you better check the work, you might get ripped off.... read more

The team at Edco were great and went beyond the call of duty in my case. I was driving my old school Mustang Mach 1 on its first long maiden drive after decades of hibernation and recent restoration to Reno for Hot August Nights when the Speedometer went out. Googled a transmission shop and wound up at Edco. They put my car up on the rack and found that my new speedometer cable (from a new TKO tranny install at another shop in the Bay Area) was resting on the exhaust pipe and burned through. They could not repair it since they didn't carry the parts, but they zip tied me up and gave me recommendations on the how to relocate the speedo cable and mentioned that my clutch bar seemed off-angle. They didn't do clutch work though. COST: No charge! All I can i can do is give them a good review 5 stars and hope their community supports them. Good people! read more

As a woman, often times you feel like car shops will attempt to take advantage of you with pricing when it comes to car repairs but I have to say my experience with Steve and Edco was nothing short of superb!!. Steve is such a great guy. My first call he showed he in no way was just in for the money but wanted to help me out with identifying if I was in need for a transmission. There was no pressure on using his services--he clearly let me know he would check it and if I chose to use another shop it was no problem.. just do what was best for me. I'm huge on customer service so while his cost may have been higher than other shops I checked with, his service and great personaility won me over!! Steve and crew did an absolutely phenomenal job! They were able to give me a quote free of charge, and were able to change out my transmission for approximately $1,000 less than what the Nissan dealership was offering. I dropped off the car on Friday without an appointment, and he was able to get it evaluated that day (about 2 hours after I dropped it off). Additionally, he was able to provide a car to use at no cost, which he went and picked up at the rental place since the rental place was not going to be available for me to pick it up on Saturday. He told me he would have the car completed between Wednesday and Friday, but called me back on Monday afternoon to let me know he was able to get it in sooner and it would be ready that day. Steve did a fantastic job, and I would highly recommend anybody thinking about getting a transmission repaired/replaced go to Edco and not a dealership. I could never thank them enough for everything they did to get me back on the road. Saturday 5/30/15 my transmission went out while I was traveling on 80. I called several places who said they could not even look at my vehicle until Monday, then I called Edco after finding them on Google and spoke with Anthony aka My Hero. They were only supposed to be open until 12 but they stayed late and got a new rebuilt transmission put into my 2002 GMC Yukon so I could get to my destination. (Reno to babysit my nephews for the night, first night away for my brother and his lovely wife since the youngest was born.) Not only did I feel the price was excellent for a transmission for a truck my size with 4 wheel drive but I felt they actually cared that I was in an unfamiliar town (from San Jose) and really wanting to get on the road. Beware! Short & simple...my car stopped running so I had it towed to edco. The owner (Steve) said i needed 2 axles & a new transmission. The grand total would be $3000. He also offered to buy my car for $500. My kbb value is $5,300. I then took the car to a honest mechanic who explained that the only thing wrong with my car was 1 broken axle.....grand total was $200. & my car now runs great. Back in 1993, I needed a new clutch for my 280Z, and after getting quotes from 3 places, decided to get the job done with Steve. Everything went well enough that I still remember the experience 20 years later. Fair pricing, no nonsense or fast talk, and a job well done. I cannot say that of many auto repair shops I have had dealing with over the years. This morning, I brought my 2000 Dodge Dakota with 200,000 hard miles in to Edco, since it seems to be "slipping". I've never done any maintenance to the transmission, so I assumed the worst going in, and was unfortunately not wrong. While I don't doubt the quote was fair, it was still a lot of money. Steve had the conversation with me about whether or not it may even be worth doing, with no pressure at all to do so. While inspecting it, they did some basic cleaning/maintenance and swapped out the filter, to hopefully get a few more miles out of it no matter what we decide, and didn't charge me a dime. I surely couldn't ask for more than that, and would recommend anyone I knew with transmission difficulties to go see Steve. read more
