Sometimes, the stars line up just right and everything works out for the best. That's what happened to me as I returned from BWI Airport one dreary day. I had gone to the airport to pick up a friend who had come back from a weekend trip; and, on our way to his house, I was getting hungry because I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch. I glanced at my dashboard clock and saw that it was nearing 3:00 p.m. It was at that moment that I pulled off the Beltway to look for food and spotted Eddie's out of the corner of my eye along Marlboro PIke. While the prospect of eating Chinese take-out didn't exactly thrill me, it seemed like a more than acceptable option given the time and place. However, once I pointed to the storefront and prepared to steer the car toward it, my friend loudly exclaimed, "Yes, yes!" To me, the reaction was totally out of proportion to the circumstance. I mean, his enthusiasm resembled my outburst when I received a new set of Correlle glass storage bowls for my birthday. Wow...what a day that was! But, a lousy Chinese carryout? "Look, look," he continued excitedly. "It's a Chinese carryout AND a laundromat!" I nodded incredulously to acknowledge the fact (just as I peered up simultaneously at the storefront and turned the car into Eddie's lot). "Yeah, it really is." My friend explained that he had a suitcase full of dirty laundry that urgently needed to be washed and that the washing machine at his house had been broken for weeks. Apparently, he really needed to wear one uniform most specifically for work the next day. So, as I ventured inside to one side of the store to order some food and tried my best to navigate the landmines of cloyingly sweet sauces and fried mystery meats (and any dish with broccoli or an accompanying "brown sauce"), my friend ventured into the other half of the store to wash a load of clothes. In the end, it seemed fitting that a Chinese carryout shop would also branch out and offer laundry service as well. Chinese laundries were a staple business for immigrant Chinese for a long, long time (well before restaurants and carryout shops became the norm after washing machines and dryers had become fixtures in most American households). So, what we stumbled upon was so ironic, really. It was like a mother and child reunion of sorts. Anyway, I ordered my food, took it through the hole in the plexiglass partition after a brief wait, and went outside to chow down in the car. Somehow, as I ate the mostly nondescript food and as the radio stations played unexceptional offerings (Willie Nelson anyone?), an involuntary entrepreneurial feeling (kind of like a half drowsy feeling of arousal) tickled my spine. Strangely, dollar signs began dancing in my eyes, and I began to entertain all sorts of possibilities... Corbo's Carry Out & Auto Supplies; Corbo's Carry Out & Hallmark Store; Corbo's Carry Out & Gourmet Croissants; Corbo's Carry Out & Ice Skating Rink. Then, it hit me. Corbo's Carry Out & Locksmith Services. Yeh! Anybody know where I can get a small business loan?

I stopped into Cheesesteak & Co. for a quick bite and ended up really impressed. I ordered the…read moresmash burger and the honey lemon pepper wings -- and both were standouts. Let me start with the wings because... wow. I've been on a mission to find a honey lemon pepper wing that actually has flavor, and these finally hit the mark. Sweet, tangy, peppery, and bold -- not that faint "maybe there's lemon in here" situation most places give. These had real personality. The smash burger was another surprise. I don't eat cheese, so I was a little intimidated ordering a smash burger without it, but no cheese, no problem. The meat itself tasted different -- richer, cleaner, and higher quality than your typical burger spot. The edges had that perfect crispy smash, and the inside stayed juicy. When the meat is that good, you don't need anything extra. Service was quick, ambiance was fitting and the food came out hot, and everything looked good enough that I had to grab pics before diving in. This spot is definitely going into my rotation.

I definitely will be back again whenever I am in the area.

On a brioche roll that was so soft...veggies were fresh. Added some sweet potatoes fries...the only thing that was missing is a couple crisp pickle spears. Will definitely come back...(just not in a Friday night)....saw they had impossible burger on the menu so I'll have to come back and try that one of these days. And let me tell you- Club Auth Rd was jumping this evening....hahaaaa! The pizza place on the corner had a patio section that was given club DC in the early 2000's lol The parking lot was packed on a Friday night. We literally drove around the parking lot for 10 mins trying to find parking... Unfortunately the restaurant didn't allow call ahead orders soooooo.... I insisted we wait in out since we had already taken the ride... The hubs and I were definitely reminiscing about the good ol days...hahaaaa!!! Noted! Will not come back on a Friday night! The young lady who helped us was cheerful, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. I apologize that I forgot her name, but she definitely deserves recognition. The food was your typical quick burger-and-fries meal, but everything was hot and fresh. The restaurant was also clean, and the prices were noticeably lower than most places these days. My only suggestion would be to keep paper towels stocked in the restroom. Overall, it's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. I didn't take pictures we were starving!

If Chipotle had a soulful, culturally rich cousin... it would be Spice Black. Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. You might like it a little more than me. Its still a fairly good meal.

The fries were golden and crunchy, and the drink was super refreshing--just what I needed after a long morning of sightseeing. The customer service was excellent everyone was friendly, quick, and helpful. I also loved the decor inside; it was fun, clean, and had that signature Cane's vibe that makes the experience even better. We enjoyed our meal sitting around the beautiful Union Station, which is such a historic and stunning building. After eating, we explored inside and admired the architecture, shops, and all the energy of this iconic spot. It's the perfect place to enjoy good food and soak in some DC history at the same time. What should have been a quick lunch…read morewith my coworkers turned into one of the most disappointing fast-food experiences I've had. Unfortunately, the problems started as soon as we opened our food. I ordered a 3 Finger Combo with naked tenders, extra crispy fries, and three pieces of Texas toast with butter on both sides. Instead, I was missing an entire tender, my fries were soft instead of extra crispy, and the toast wasn't prepared as requested. These are modifications that have been accommodated at other Raising Cane's locations, and my order was confirmed before I paid, so I expected it to be made correctly. It wasn't just my meal that was wrong. One coworker substituted fries for coleslaw but somehow received two coleslaws instead, even after the order had been read back correctly. Another coworker found a long black hair in his food, immediately ruining his meal. By the time we realized how many mistakes had been made, we had already left the restaurant, so there was no practical way to have everything corrected. Mistakes happen, but it's rare to see so many errors in a single order affecting multiple people. Missing food, incorrect substitutions, ignored requests, and a hair in someone's meal all made for an incredibly disappointing experience. To make matters worse, the service itself lacked professionalism. The employee taking our order repeatedly asked coworkers for help, seemed confused throughout the process, and even forgot what she was asking. When I later spoke with the manager in the gray polo, I expected someone who would take the concerns seriously. Instead, he came across as dismissive and confrontational, leaving me feeling like our experience didn't matter. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing fast-food experiences I've had. I hope this location improves its order accuracy, food quality, and customer service, because customers deserve better than what we received.
