Love the classy atmosphere and classic steak house cuisine. I had been here long ago far before Yelp was a thing so my return visit last weekend needed to be documented. Most of the menu was very well prepared classic steakhouse cuisine with a few seasonal specials. I enjoyed the trio of filet medallions. I am big on medium rare or even rare plus, so I want concerned getting the smaller cuts but they were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the three preparations - peppercorn sauce, Bleu cheese, and Oscar style. My husband got the filet and enjoyed it as well. For sides we had crashed spinach and parmesan truffle fries. Though they were both delicious, I. Could. Not. Stop. Eating. The. Fries! So good We sampled a few appetizers that were creative and delicious. Eddie's eggs and bacon were deviled eggs with candied bacon. The deviled eggs were fine, nothing to write home about but the candied bacon WAS DIVINE! We also got filet pot stickers. I loved this fusion of Asian and steakhouse flavors. They were deep fried and not pan fried but very good just the same! Drink options were plentiful and high quality. They had wines by the glass for many of the wines on the list and my husband had no problem finding an interesting bourbon. I even found dumante, my favorite after dinner liquor. If you're looking for the best place to go for a special occasion this is it! We went in last week to celebrate my birthday, and it could not have been more perfect. The staff even brought out a birthday card for me that they had signed and gave us a complimentary dessert with a candle, it made my evening! We tried out some of their newer menu items which are marked in the menu. The Lobster "Escargot" appetizer is absolutely fantastic, and I could probably eat a few orders of that! We also tried the calamari which is delicious. I also highly recommend trying the new Baby Kale salad, the dressing is addicting! The scallops I ordered were delicious, and a generous portion as well. The real star here was their new pork chop entree that my fiancé tried. We could it believe how juicy it was, definitely the best I've ever tried. Their seasonal dessert was a mini apple pie which was perfect for this role of year. Highly recommend ordering they, it was a good size to split between two. Our waitress went above and beyond to go through the new menu items with us and recommend the perfect wine choice. Came here for my birthday and had an amazing time!!! I am so sad that I did not take a picture of my meal. That's how you know the food was so good that we dived right in! Lolllllll. My husband and I split a meal and we are so glad that we did. Keith was our server, he was phenomenal! We started off with the calamari and it was amazing. The portion size was just about right. We visited Eddie Merlot on Friday 10/06/2023 and had an almost excellent experience. We were celebrating my partner's birthday. The staff was great and the food presentation was just outstanding. I did have a concern with the 10 oz. Filet Mignon steak that I had. The temperature on the inside was correct but the steak was burnt on the outside and it had no flavor to it. I have ordered this steak a few times before and was very impressed with the aged flavor. My partner's Bistecche alla Palermitana Ribeye was very delicious. I did not want to take away from my partner's birthday so I did not say anything to the server. I did contact Eddie Merlot via the website and received a phone call from the local manager the next day. She was very accepting of my feedback but only stated that she would pass the information on to the chef. I thought that the resolution was unacceptable. read more

For a upscale dining establishment, there was much missing. Oysters on half shell were fresh. The prep was nothing more than shells open. Mignonette was coarse and unappetizing. I ordered a dirty martini, but it was mostly olive brine. I sent it back requesting a slight amount of olive brine. The second one was little better. I ordered the chef's special 4 oz. Filet. Steak was cooked perfectly, but crab topping was lame and cold. My husband liked his filet but he said it wasn't chop shop quality. read more

Went today to celebrate Father's Day. Reservation for 6:15. Got there at 6. We weren't seated until 6:45. Ok. Ordered drinks and a seafood tower appetizer. It finally came at 7:35. At 8:45, no entrees have been delivered. 9 adults and 2 kids under 3! Asked a server to check on our food. Was told it would be just a few more minutes. Asked if we could get the kids food so they bought out the Mac and cheese but said the fries weren't quite ready. Really???? Asked about our food again, still not ready!!! Wow, oh wow! I had all but forgotten about this restaurant with it being outside of Indy, away from all the other upscale steakhouses. I'm so glad Yelp reminded me of this place. Unfortunately, my wallet cannot accommodate this fine establishment, so I was extremely grateful to be invited to a tasting here. Because of the fixed menu at the event, I can only review certain items. However, the filet minion....out of this world! It was cooked to perfect and so mouth wateringly tender. I was actually making noises as I ate it :) What I love about this restaurant is that the chef's have full voice in the menu. All the chefs from all the restaurants have input in the menu and get to decide what dishes are added each time the menu is updated. What I also love is the managers are hands on. They actually know how to cook the dishes too and know all the history of the restaurant and exactly where all the foods come from. Which btw, some of the cuts of meat are completely exclusive to Eddie Merlot. They have an entire wine cellar, with so many options that pair well with the food. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic with dim lighting and great decor. This is a top notch place to eat and can't visit Indy without eating here!! read more

The awesomeness of the steak I had should immediately vault my rating to 5 stars. Yet no, there were some issues. My best guess is this is one of many places struggling to find help in this crazy post-pandemic(ish) world in which we live. I don't want to nitpick every thing that I didn't like or that didn't go as it should have, but when I order a glass of wine with dinner, ask for a bottle of steak sauce, and order hollandaise sauce to go on on one of the sides, and none of those three things happen when the meal comes, that's not good. I ordered a wedge salad with extra bleu cheese dressing and a gigantic prime rib eye (not the wagyu kind that's twice expensive for the same size of a cut; if I want to spend $100 on steak I'd just order two of them), with a loaded baked potato on the side. Everything was excellent, prepared just as I liked it. My father ordered salmon, also a wedge salad and broccoli with the aforementioned missing hollandaise sauce. Everything tasted good or great. So I would recommend this place as good. But based on the service at least during this one encounter, I feel like there are better steakhouses in this area. The server seemed like a nice guy and seemed to be trying hard, but who's to tell how many other tables he had and if the restaurant is shorthanded. It's either that or the service is just sub-standard for an upscale $$$$ steakhouse. read more

My wife and I went to their wine tasting. Before I tell you about that experience allow me to say, we have dined at Eddies many times. Each time was always above our expectations. Before COVID we joined their club and had the best of times at a bourbon tasting. It was grand. Tables were arranged in a U shape so the experts could discuss the bourbon while the wait staff filled our glasses. Hors d'oeuvres were served with the bourbon pairings to discuss the taste and the complementary of the food so, when I made the reservations on Monday for their wine tasting, I was expecting a grand experience. That is not what we got they said at four tables in the corners of the room, with a buffet bar down the center of the room and four tables for eight couples to stand at while the guest moved from wine tasting table to wine tasting table. Uncomfortable it was not grand it felt more like a pop-up hotel winetasting of gypsies at the booth they would have four or five wine sitting out, maybe two of them were on the list maybe two of them were available for sale. The wine experts apologized repeatedly, because of the lack of preparation, and the confusion of the pamphlets that you handed to so that you can make notes with so you can score their wines. The confusion was as it. Most of their wines weren't listed most of their wines Were available. I walked back to my table. Once I arrived there were four used, mostly empty wine glasses, sitting on my table that we stood at. It felt unsanitary. It felt awkward and lacked the professionalism of Eddie Merlot's. If it hasn't been for the past of above average Food and service. My rating today would be a one. read more

We made reservations for Valentine's day this year and we were overall pleased with our night. Our original reserved time was pushed back about 20 minutes due to it being busy, but we understood. I forget the waiters name, but he was very nice and pleasant the entire time. Our appetizer of the calamari was awesome and it came with 3 sauces which we loved. We also got a blueberry mojito and a glass of moscato which were phenomenal. The side caesar and bread were very average, but the croutons on the salad were really good. My girlfriend got the Filet Mignon and she really enjoyed it, and I also enjoyed my Filet Del Mar. We expected bigger portions for the sides of the mashed potatoes and mac n cheese, but it was not the end of the world. The garlic mashed potatoes were better than other steakhouses because you could really taste the garlic, but I had higher hopes for the mac n cheese. Both were overall good though! The only few things that we didn't like were the very dim lighting in the back room where we were seated and needing to pull out phone flashlights to see the menu. Additionally, our table bordered a table of 6+ where you could hear just about every conversation being had. Overall our experience was appreciated and we may be back one day. read more

We generally sit in the bar when we dine at Eddie's, but had our two neices with us this time and forgot about not having kids in the bar... but Aaron pivoted quickly and set up a table in the main dining room without blinking an eye. They, like so many restaurants, are suffering from a staffing shortage, but they really did a great job with us last night. Simon, our server, was attentive and fun with the girls despite all he had going on. We enjoyed introducing the kids to a fine dining experience and they thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The youngest went out on a limb for the New Orleans Mixed Grill and loved every bit of it, and the oldest (who only orders chicken nuggets at every single restaurant) was thrilled to be able to get a "fancy" hamburger and fries. It's true! There is something for everyone at Eddie's! The adults did filets and sides, our favorite being the wild mushrooms. Since I was the minority for brussels sprouts we didn't get any, but those are quite good too. And of course, who can pass up Eddies potatoes?!? We were thrilled to see some additions to the menu - our very favorite being the bananas foster! We also ordered the chocolate cake for our chocolate fanatic and she was blown away with how big the piece was. Enough for breakfast the next day! We hope more than anything they can attract quality staff so they can handle a larger dining load. This is a country wide problem in the restaurant industry. Where do I Start? We had an amazing server named Lacy who was so personable and helpful! She made our 5 year anniversary an amazing experience ! We came during Devour and there were some amazing deals that we enjoyed ! The sweet and spicy shrimp was soooooo good! I loved the sauce and crunch ! The crab and corn bisque is to die for ! The steak was perfect and I mean perfect ! The salmon was amazing and juicy and I loved the glaze on top! We tried the Manhattan and the lemon drop and they were good and strong ! Our service was impeccable ! Lacy was so attentive and good with engagement and even gave us a champagne toast to celebrate out 5 year anniversary! Eddie Merlot's has been one of our top favorites since it first opened here in Indianápolis when we wanted a special dinner. We would eat there once or twice a year but would sometimes take others there when we wanted to impress. Eddie's was sold back in 2022. We have eaten there 3 times since including this past Christmas Day. The ambiance is still top of the line. But we have noticed a small decline in the quality of the food each time that we have been there the last 3 times. The biggest difference that we have noticed though is a bigger decline in their service. For example, our reservations this last time was at 5:00 pm. When we ordered, we requested their bread service. 20 minutes later we asked about it again and we were told that fresh bread was still baking. So you're telling me this large restaurant was totally out of bread for over 20 minutes at 5:00 pm? They brought it and it was good. My wife then ordered the Eddie's coffee which she loves. Again, it was another 20 minutes and we had to ask again and were told that they are still brewing it. So, once again, are you telling me the entire restaurant has been without coffee for over 20 minutes at 5:00 pm? I ordered the bourbon brown sugar ribeye steak. It had a very strong bourbon taste to it and not much else. You couldn't even taste the brown sugar at all. I know a ribeye is a more fatty cut of steak but this one had more fat than most and not all of it was rendered and was hard to cut. My wife ordered the filet as she always does and it was as dry as could be. Almost like the kitchen took great pains to make sure none of the juices came out. The garlic mashed were still very good. We will wait awhile before we go back, but Eddie's went from #1 or #2 in town to maybe #8 or #9 on our list. And it's too bad. It's not far from our house and we always enjoyed it. read more

Went last night for a night out with friends. We took advantage of their half price bottled wines. They had a nice wine list! We started out with the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. I'm typically not a fan but this was awesome. The warm bread it was served with was also a million times better than the typical pita chip. I had a cup of the king crab corn bisque soup. Not as meaty as I would have preferred but the taste was phenomenal. I would definitely get again. For entree I got the 7oz filet with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I ordered medium rare, but it was cooked more medium and a touch dry. Mashed potatoes had good flavor, but were lukewarm. Lastly the broccoli was simply steamed, no seasoning at all. Ended the night with an awesome creme brûlée. Loved everything except my entree. Entree was average. read more

We got takeout from Eddie Merlots last night and it was delicious! We chose to do one of their dinners for 2, and enjoyed salad, 2 shareable sides, and the 7 oz filets. Everything was cooked perfectly & I really enjoyed the baked Mac n Cheese with bread crumbs on top! I was very impressed that everything stayed warm driving it from the restaurant to our house about 20 minutes away. We had an amazing time at Eddie Merlot's. I'm surprised that we have not eaten here more often, but now we will be regulars. The service was impeccable! Our server Don was the best. He was attentive, but not over bearing. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The person bringing our food dropped the whole tray. We heard the dishes fall! A very apologetic manager came over and talked to us. We were good. He asked if we wanted anything while we waited, so we got a new round of drinks. He too was fantastic. We were talking about Florida so he spent some time giving us beach and restaurant recommendations. A second manger came later and checked on us too. Our food was good. We got meals, but all wanted to try the steak filet trio, so ordered one to share. The steak was the best. I ordered bouillabaisse. It was a little sweet to me, but full of seafood, so it was fine. I actually had enough for lunch the next day. This will be a regular steakhouse stop for us! read more

I Received an email invite from Eddie Merlot's to join them for a complimentary lunch on the Tuesday through Thursday after Memorial Day. I believe they are promoting the fact they are open for lunch. My wife and I decided to go today, Wednesday. We arrived and were told it would be a 5 minute wait. My wife checked again after 5 minutes and was told it would be another 5 minutes as they were short of staff. After waiting another 15 minutes without a word from the absent hostess, we left. I first experienced Eddie Merlot's with the Yelp Indy crew for a swanky Yelp event with ah-mazing Steak Diane. Luckily, I was able to come back and attend a luncheon here! Eddie Merlot's is not open for lunch but they can host private parties in their event space. Our group ate buffet style and while it wasn't dinner steaks and vegetables, it was one of the best burger patties I've eaten. If it makes sense for your group or gathering, I would recommend looking into Eddie Merlot's for a private luncheon. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night, had the place mostly to ourselves and proceeded to wait 4hrs for appetizer, main, and dessert. The appetizers were just okay, and several steaks came out cold and not cooked to order. Much of the food lacked flavor and quality, something you'd expected for a $99 cut of meat... Additionally, I consider myself somewhat of an espresso martini connoisseur and try them everywhere I go. This was hands down the worst one I've ever had. Our waiter told us it was made with "real" espresso (unlike most cold brew martinis) but it's tasted worse than something you would get out of a premade store bought version. The staff was friendly and helpful but needed constant reminders about drinks where we consistently waited 30 minutes/drink. I wouldn't come here even if they let me eat for free. We've been there often over the years and find the quality just keeps slipping. Potstickers were good for appetizer. Onion soup was just not good. I guess if you like onion soup with un-melted cheese on top, and soup being lukewarm, it might be OK. Just two big slices of cheese on top you had to cut with a knife to get through it. Once you got under the cheese, the soup was just cool, overly salty, and sweet at the same time. The chicken was dry. I told my wife that it's not worth eating out anymore. We told our kids don't get us Eddie Merlot's gift cards anymore. It's nowhere near worth the price they pay. read more

It took sooo long to get food. They brought the wrong adult beverage 3 times. The ladies bathroom floor was very sticky. We went for our 60th anniversary and it was less than enjoyable. They sent me a generic response through the google maps app asking me to go to another contact site. I did and resent my review but have heard nothing back yet. I guess along with the poor service (not the waitresses fault) and sticky restroom floor they really aren't interested in making this right. read more
