Not the best brunch in town, but Eddie's is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The servers are also very nice and friendly. I've had the Monte Cristo and Oh La La Bennie. Both dishes were ok; taste factor is average. The croissant bennie was larger than I expected. The chicken fried steak was crispy. The regular pancakes are fluffy and light. If you get there around 9am on the weekend, you may be seated right away or have to wait a few minutes. There's definitely a line/wait at 10am. Plenty of parking in the lot. I've seen coupons in the Plano newsletter mailer; only good for M-F dining though. Next time I go back I'll have to order a sweet dish (pancakes, French toast) or a sweet & savory entree since sometimes you want a little of both. read more

So we came across this place randomly while looking for a place to get some Sunday grub and I am sure glad we did. It has a cute farmhouse style look on the inside so don't let the shopping center exterior fool you. Plenty of seats at the open tables and they even have a counter top if you're looking for something less formal. We went around 12:30 on a Sunday and got two seats at the counter right away. I would suggest if you have a party of 4 that you go around 1-1:30 since it started dying out by then. Otherwise it looked like it would be super busy during "normal" brunch hours from 10:30-12. We were greeted by our server right away and she got us one of the best restaurant coffees I've ever had that wasn't a Clover, French Press, or Drip style. Their menu has a little bit of something for everyone so your whole party will enjoy. After debating between all the options I landed on the Monte Cristo and it was amazing. Just the right amount of meat with the eggs and cheese. The hash browns were my side and they were cooked perfectly. Not too crispy not too soft. What made us enjoy this place the most were the employees. Everyone there had a smile on their face and when they passed by they would smile at you. It truly felt like you were part of their family. Overall I would highly recommend checking them out. The service is great, the food is amazing, coffee is dang good, and the people are friendly! What more could you ask for? read more

We ordered a Very Veg Omelet with Pancakes and Patty Sausage Eggs with Biscuits. Both come with a generous serving of hash browns or grits. The food comes fast and is cooked to perfection. The biscuit was soft and flaky and the pancakes were soft and fluffy. The sausages were cooked well and the coffee was hot and fresh. YUMMY!!!! Came here for the first time today and I am IN LOVEEEE! As soon as I walked into this absolutely adorable establishment, I noticed the amazing wall decor and the awesome decorations! As soon as we walked in, they greeted us and walked us right to a table. The menu has a great and wide selection of different foods! I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! It also came with a HUGE side of hash browns. My boyfriend ordered the chicken apple sausage and eggs, which came with pancakes and the hash browns. The portion sizes here are incredible. My review is based on our takeout experience. We ordered our meal at 10am on a weekday, and the staff member who took our order was all business. We didn't get a "thank you", but we did get a pick-up time that was quick. The Diner was busy but not overwhelmingly so when we arrived. The food was hot and utensils provided. I ordered the just eggs scrambled with hashed browns and biscuits. The biscuits were the best part - soft, light brown, and served with jelly. The eggs were average, and--unfortunately--the hash browns were not done in the middle. My partner ordered the Breakfast Monte Cristo with fruit. The ham was thick cut, and the egg and cheese added richness. He thought it was good, but not particularly memorable. We both ordered fresh orange juice that was good and in larger-sized cups. Based on other reviews, it seems like much of the love for Eddie's has to do with the staff providing excellent service. Nothing wrong with that! Our waitress was really nice, but I took away one star for how she handled my bill. When I ordered, I asked how much it would cost to sub the pancakes in my meal for French toast. The waitress told me it would only be a couple of dollars. When I got the bill, I'd been charged $5 extra dollars, not $2. When I brought this to her attention, she said she didn't know how much the upgrade was. Understandable, but then she should've checked before she told me an amount, or she should've said something before handing me the bill and walking away. Went to Eddie's for the first time during the mid day rush hour. The place was full, including seating at the bar. But, I got lucky and had a seat within about 3 minutes. Service was prompt and warmly friendly, as befits the image of an "old school Texas diner." Having said that, and I lived in SE Texas for a few years (job related), this is no "greasy spoon diner." It has casual decor featuring Longhorn portraits, which I like as a UT grad . Perhaps this is unique in Plano? The clientele was, for the most part, definitely of an older generation who are likely locals who had discovered this neighborhood gem. I ordered a simple breakfast: eggs, hash browns, and toast. Eggs over easy were "just right," and the hash browns was the largest helping I've seen in years. It was also perfectly cooked: slightly golden on the outside but fully cooked through. The toast was actually toasted, not just "warmed up." And the coffee is excellent -- not your typical "diner coffee." In short, I highly recommend Eddie's for "down home" friendly service and food prepared with care. And a bigger, better helping of hash browns than you might expect. I'll be back to try out a few other items on the extensive breakfast menu, although they also serve lunch including sandwiches and burgers. read more
