I was thinking about selling my car so I brought it in for service just to make sure there were no surprises. It turned out to be perfect timing because I was on my last drop of oil. So only about four quarts low haha. Eddy and his folks also spotted a nail in my tire that was causing a slow leak and patched it free of charge. They changed air filters and rotated tires and checked everything else too and really did a great job. Honestly, going to Eddy that day probably saved my car and might even have saved my life. Eddy has been in business for decades and it is no secret why - he is very good at what he does and he treats his customers fairly and with respect. And he seems to have a lot of fun running his shop and that's the kind of person you want to be around. The only caveat I would say is that the neighborhood there is getting rougher (like everywhere unfortunately) so I wouldn't plan on walking around that area - get a ride there and back if possible. read more

Eddy the owner has always been kind and professional. In three years of patronizing this business I was always satisfied with the price and quality of the work on my car. Every time that I interacted with Hugo, a mechanic at Eddy's shop, he kind of hit on me and like asked to see me again, asked if he could go on trips with me, like innocuous and commonplace enough that I dismissed it. However recently a female friend I recommended to go there had a worse experience with Hugo. He told her the next time she came back he hoped she would wear her bikini so he could see all her tattoos. This is sexual harassment and completely inappropriate. She said after this interaction she is not going back to Eddy's Auto Center. I don't want to hurt this business or get anyone fired, but I think steps need to be taken so that Hugo is not alone with female customers. I hope that all people who visit Eddy's in the future are treated with respect. read more

TLDR: Don't take your car here for major repairs. Eddy's might be alright for simple things like oil changes, but I will never bring my car here again. ---- We had originally taken our car to the mini dealer, but their repair quote price was so outrageous (about $3500), we wanted to take it to a local repair shop that had better prices. A friend had mentioned to us that Eddy's was decently priced so after we checked out the reivews, we called him for an estimate. He asked me to email him the car's vin number and the paperwork from the dealership, which I did. But after waiting a day, and not receiving a reply email, I called Eddy again and he said it would be best for me to bring the car in so he could take a look at it. I dropped the car off in the morning and got a call later in the afternoon and Eddy said that he could repair the oil housing gasket, thermostat, water pipe and lights for $1700. We were ecstatic that this was about half the price of what the dealer wanted to charge us. We left the car for a few days and then picked it up when he was done. We drove it to LAX because we were going out of town and then when we came back to town and were driving home, the car started having acceleration problems and then stalled out in the middle of the street. We had the car towed home and then back to Eddy's the next day. He claims he drove it around for 30 minutes and nothing happened and told us to take it back to the dealer- that it must have been something the dealer did to it. When my wife went to go pick it up, it stalled out as she was driving home. We towed it to the dealer and when they inspected it, they found that the "repairs" that were done, were done terribly. Some sort of epoxy glue was used to "repair" the thermostat leak. The engine harness was not reinstalled properly and wires were zip tied together. The coolant and oil leak were still present and leaking very badly. The dealer offered to do the repairs, but we decided to take it to a third mechanic to get a second opinion to verify everything the mini dealer was telling us. My wife looked up an independent auto repair shop that specializes in mini coopers (Minicorsa in the valley) and we took it there. They confirmed what the mini dealer had found- that the repair job that Eddy's had done was bad. We ended up having Minicorsa do the repairs and the car has been running great since! read more

My 2001 Toyota Celica with 99,000 miles needed a CLUTCH replacement! (Is that possible after 16 years/99K? :] ). After 10 years of driving back to my expert mechanic in the Valley, I took the advice of two of my neighbors who've been going to Eddy for TEN (10) years! His price was equal/less than my guys in the Valley and so far everything looks great. The clutch needed an adjustment (to meet my shifting style!) and he took care of it the very next day - in and out in 90 minutes. The healthy 13 minute walks back to my house are a bonus! On a friends recommendation, I initially went to eddy's to fix the cooling system on my 2000 civic and I gotta say, Eddy is honest and to the point. I've since come to him numerous times to deal with all my damned used car woes and every time he's done the repairs quick and reasonably priced. I brought my truck into this place as it broke down and yelp had great reviews. Granted their were only 10 reviews I trusted the yelp users. I basically ended up having this shop replace my timing belt and water pump (he tried to change out more of course). When I went back and picked up my truck it was drivable yet making a tremendous noise inside the cab. I spoke with the mechanic about the problem to which he told me to drive it around about and see if the noise goes away. I took the truck and of course the noise did not go away. I took it to a trusted local Mechanic and he told me that the timing belt was not installed correctly "the gears were not on point". I was of course charged for this repair to which Eddy himself said he would not pay for the repairs. So in short if you want to pay twice to have your car repaired take it to Eddy's!! read more

Hands down the best mechanic I have ever been too... Nice sincere sweet and never tries to sell me what I don't need. An Example... I brought a used car from a car auction. First took it to EZ lube, to get an oil change only, where they said I needed a bunch of stuff including some radiator flush. I told them I would get back to them later. I then took my car to pepboys, to get a smog check (free diagnostic check), and they gave a list of things I needed also. Lastly I went to Eddy's, ON A REFERRAL, and he inspected my car (he did not know I had went to two other places for services) and gave me a list about 1/4 the size they gave me. After I told him about the list he said I did not need most of the stuff and after I told him I paid $1,000 for the car he told me it was not worth it to get most of the fixes because they would cost $500 and above. In the end the only thing Eddy did fix was my rearview and sideview windows because you have to have those fixed. Amazing, not pushy and knows cars. FYI It has been two years since I brought my car and it is still running. Just had the coolant tube break (or something) but that is the only thing that has happened to my car in two years. Of course I just took it to Eddy and he fixed it right up. read more

I dropped my car off at Eddy's at around 9am cause the brakes were screeching when I would stop the car. Eddy called me to give me the details around 10am and gave me a really fair price for the repairs. Turnaround was fairly quick and I picked up my car at 4pm. I Have gone to Eddie for years. Recently a car hose broke a few doors down from a mechanic (Ric's across from the grove of Fairfax). I stopped in to check what it is. He said it was the radiator hose on my 99 honda civic. Claimed it would be $275 to fix the hose and i probably want to change all of them. He could cut me a break and do all the hoses for $775. (Not even sure the car is worth that much) I told him to forget it and i brought it down to my regular guy EDDIE. I asked if he woudl take a look. He said it was the same hose and I should probably replace all of them since the car is 12 years old and to do it all at once because they will eventaully most likely start to go as well little by little. I would have to pay labor each time and that woudl get pricey. Total cost was $260 for all the hoses and labor. He filled the fluids and tightened a belt that had been screetching. DONE AND DONE..
