Decent Old Time breakfast joint. Vinyl seated booths, wood paneling and a 60's vibe to the menu are kinda charming. Friendly & quick service, served up a Ham and Cheddar omelette and an over eggs breakfast for the little woman. The requested well done hashbrowns were medium at best. My omelette was a little dry, but not bad. House made Hot sauce mixed with the ketchup was good. I believe we've had better meals at Katrina's or Nancy's in town.

This place and the food is older than "old skool". It's a throwback to the early 1960's. I do know, I was 13 years old when the Beatles landed in New York (1964) to play on the Ed Sullivan TV show. Back to this here restaurant. It's funky in a non-threatening way. The vinyl seats in the booths are torn to $#i+. The bath rooms look like they haven't been scrubbed in decades. The wall board above the men's room sink is crumbling. The floor in front of the toilet is sticky with dried urine. Okay you get the picture. The owner and the service staff are welcoming and friendly. The dining room was 3/4 full at 10:30am. Obviously all of them were Auburn locals as the service folks were addressing every one of them by first name. The offerings are all the diner food choices you will find at most places that are also locked into a menu from 60 years ago. My loco moco ($18.95) was merely okay. I spend 8 weeks / year on Kauai and O'ahu. I've eaten 100's of loco moco meals. The one here is did not send me into a rapture. Frankly, it as pretty mediocre. I eat at a lot of mom n' pops restaurants. Expensive ones, cheap ones, trendy ones, urban ones, out in the boonies ones. Have had some amazing meals. Many forgettable ones. I hope to forget my experience here soon. I love Auburn. Will endeavor to visit other places that offer brunch. I suggest that you do as well. Unless you are born n' raised in Auburn and this place is in your DNA.

Great small town feel restaurant. As place name house of omelets suggests, the omelets here are great! A lot of choices also. Service is friendly too. Omelet I had was delicious and the pineapple waffle too! Great place to stop and eat if in the area!

What a cute diner it is! We stopped here for lunch on our way back and had a very filling and delicious meal. Personable service and really cozy inside. My mushroom and Swiss omelet was fluffy and tasty. So much food and we needed to walk around a little before getting back in our car. We were able to park right in front of the restaurant by luck (there was a single spot open) but there are plenty of parking alongside the street, and there's a parking lot right next to the restaurant as well, which we didn't see until later.

The waitress was very friendly. They were busy...there was a wait, but not too long. My coffee cup was kept full and the coffee was good. I had a Chili Bean and Cheddar Omelette. I enjoyed it. It was fresh and tasted good. The chili was tastey. It came with potatoes--I picked Country Potatoes. They were good. It also came with a bread. I picked wheat toast. My bill for coffee and the omelette breakfast was about $11. The serving was generous. I'm not sure if they take credit cards. I paid cash and so did the other people I saw at the register. I plan on going back. read more

Rather average breakfast place. They do have a huge list of omelettes and great choice of veggie omelettes. Omelette was good, but not special. Coffee was very good though. Surprisingly good. Service was friendly and the place was homey, but it was slow. I wouldn't be averse to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way either. read more

So so good! Came here while visiting NorCal this weekend. I LOVE diners more than anything. This place was the perfect little old fashion diner with so many great omelet choices! I loved the meatless menu. I got the 38 with jack cheese and wow! It was delicious, the Ortega chile on omelets is the best tasting thing ever. Their country fried potatoes were also delicious, I cant stop thinking about them Lol. Good customer service as well. Can't wait to go back next time we visit! read more

This was by far the best breakfast food I've had at a diner in a while. The eggs I had tasted just like the way I would make them at home. Their freshly made strawberry jam was a big plus. The wait time was quite a while but the staff were very friendly and efficient. read more

came here on a Wednesday for lunch after a quick hike and there were only a few diners inside. server told us to sit anywhere and so we picked a booth. i had the edelweiss special sandwich burger patty option with a side of broccoli cheddar soup and i'm glad i did. a quick chitchat with our server, who i believe hails from Jordan, confirmed that this was the first of two Edelweiss cafes in Auburn. coming back to sample the super omelettes and surely recommending this place. read more

Stopped here early afternoon for a quick bite with the family,it's an old school style diner inside, not fancy at all in anyway.Place was packed with customers when we arrived put our name on list and was seated fairly quick after that.Friendly staff,food was good would go here again. read more

I changed my mind from the 2 star review, it was based on one day and one worker but I stopped going here for awhile, which meant I quit eating out for breakfast. 6 months later I came back, there are the owners and some different employees now and I love this place again. The food is delicious, the service is great and yes you might expect to wait because this place is popular, so have patience. Huge proportions and great service, everything is delicious. For an extra treat by some of their home made goodies. read more

Just left Edelweiss in Auburn without eating a bite. Ordered and after 45 minutes of waiting we PAID and left without any food. First let me say we have been here a number of times on our way to Reno..service and food have always been good. However this time we lost our patience after 3 customers who came in after us got their food before us. Not one time were we told they were understaffed until we walked out and the wait person yelled at us outside. She proceeded to yell our food was ready and insisted she did tell us. of their staffing issues. The whole time we waited we were not even acknowledged. We just sat there with our glasses of water and empty table. Sad... we really liked this place but will not be going back. read more

Man O man ... although we live in Carson City and we were meeting up with friends, we are definitely going to make this a must stop whenever we come down. You know how you eat with your eyes ... well, I do anyways.... wife ordered the omelette, I ordered the burger with everything.... loved everything about all of it. This is a response to Amanda M's review 24 days ago. First of all, this is a family owned and run restaurant that has stayed in business for 40 years because of their delicious homemade food and cozy atmosphere; not to mention some of the kindest and most accommodating service I've ever seen. Secondly, I was there when you and your two boys were having lunch and there was obviously some discord already going on amongst you. When the drink fell to the floor and the glass was broken it was immediately replaced with a new drink; which was, yes, in a cup that wouldn't break. The menu clearly states which sandwiches are cold; so the over site wasn't on the part of the person who took the order. Maybe you were all tired from traveling; and your frustration poured over because of this but to give such a negative review of a small family business who are clearly trying their best is both inaccurate,unfair and dangerous. Reviews like these serve no purpose other than to harm people's livelihood. Would you like to have your behavior as a guest reviewed based on this one situation that I witnessed? Probably not. I would have preferred to assume that you were all just tired and let it go; but chose to comment because of your decision to slam this family restaurant. In the future you might consider being kinder to businesses; especially the small ones, because they have no escape from putting up with all kinds of people and situations every day. read more

I didn't want too much bread, so I ordered it on marble rye, and that turned out to be fairly thin, not overwhelming, and also strongly and delightfully flavored. Once 1:30 rolled around, I was excited to try my sandwich given the great reviews, then came 1:40, then 1:50, and I did not have my sandwich until around 1:55. I worked in a sandwich shop for 3 years, so I know sometimes a wait is unavoidable and can recall dealing with rude customers, so I did not approach the staff regarding the wait. They were trying their best to accommodate the orders. However-- 35 minutes for 2 sandwiches, I think, is a little excessive. In the end, my sandwiches were spectacular, genuinely well crafted, and met (maybe even surpassed) my expectations. When I got back to my car, I noticed the worker (owner?) gave me a full sandwich despite me ordering half. I wasn't sure if this was purposeful as means of saying "our bad", or just a mistake, but I will say it left me in better spirits. If you have some extra time to kill, with friends etc., this is a must try. However, if you are on ANY sort of time restriction, I would not recommend stopping here. I'm sure this is not always the case, but as a stop on a long drive, I did not consider an extra 45 minutes for a sandwich. If the owners are reading this, I truly mean well and hope you know a long wait is a sign of success. Growth is inevitable!

We were in the area of Auburn coming back from a Father's Day weekend trip, and I was looking for a few easy meals to have in the fridge for the rest of the week. It was busy! But plenty of staff on hand to help move everything along. I suggest having one person wait in the car and sending one person in to stealthy acquire the goods. I love pie & was on a mission to try theirs. We stopped by on the Friday afternoon after they got recognized. The parking lot was packed. There is a lot of covered outdoor seating, but it was also pretty filled up. The market was busy & bustling with customers & staff going to & fro. A hamburger restaurant adjoins the market with some indoor seating. You can enter & exit either door to get to both areas. The doors directly to the market only had one you could open because the other door was obscured with a display & it caused such a traffic jam to get in & out. The supply of pies/cobblers & variety was plentiful. They have fruit pies as well as cream pies in whole, sliced, fresh, & frozen form. NOTE--you can find whole pies (fresh or frozen) in the market, & packaged individual slices in the restaurant. The market also has lots of produce, dips & sauces, dressings, pickled items, wine, other baked goods, honey, snacks, store branded merchandise, & lots more! Samples of products were out & available to try, like fruit, dips, & granola. The circumstances of the award created an understandable commotion that took a little charm away from the shopping experience. The market has so many neat items to browse, but it has narrow aisles & it was hard to look around comfortably & not feel in the way because of the flurry of activity. I even heard audible disdain from another customer (my sense is a local or regular) about everyone being there because of the award. Customer service was fine. Staffers seemed busy & didn't welcome or proactively acknowledge customers. We were able to find someone who was helpful with a question we had. Checkout was straightforward with staff trying to keep the line moving. Back to the pie mission! Peach Pie--delightful fresh peach taste, the least sweet of the 3 Razzleberry Pie--really delicious berry packed flavor payoff Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler--this is my favorite kind of fruit pie & their very tasty execution stood out because the rhubarb was really present in big tart chunks, (also the fruit & veg combo practically makes this a health food, right??) My verdict-- My ideal pie is a combo of yummy filling & a great flaky, buttery crust. While the fillings were bursting with amazing fruitiness, the crust brought nothing to the table & was just bland & meh. I prefer the cobbler version because the dough brought some sweetness & flavor. We also got a loaf of coffee cake. It tasted fine, but felt like it was basically a simply flavored cake with some streusel topping that had bits of walnut & barely any detectable cinnamon. I would go back again down the road on an obscure weekday to try to experience a less busy time to shop more items. The pie fillings I tried were spectacular, & despite the mediocre crust, I would happily have more.

There was a good amount of outdoor seating along with a few tables inside as well. The vibe there was pretty lively and fun, almost reminded me of old-time burger joints. After ordering my Spicy Johnny burger and onion rings, it only took about 15 minutes to receive it, which is understandable because the food is fresh and made to order! At first glance, it worried me that the burgers seemed slightly small and I was worried I would still be hungry afterwards. However, I was decently satisfied after eating (although I do still wish it was slightly bigger). The burger was packed with flavor and extremely juicy. The spice on it packed a decent punch that satisfied my tastebuds! And the onion rings were great! They weren't hot when I received them, but they were still crunchy. After the meal, I ordered a vanilla ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. Nothing more to say other than it was a refreshing way to end my dinner!

I don't think I've had bread this dry at a sandwich shop, ever. Waste of money and a total disappointment.

Took my wife, daughter, and mother out for breakfast on Sunday. Got there at about 11:00 AM. The good - my wife and I had decent omelettes and hashbrowns. The bad - there was a 30 minute period where ABSOLUTELY NOTHING came out of the kitchen for any table. Most of the tables were filled, and all of us were just sitting there waiting, except for two tables that had already been served before we got there. To top that, our waitress didn't refill our coffee cups at all during this time period. She was hanging out at the counter sipping a drink, and seemed to be avoiding eye contact. When the food finally came, my daughter's diced potatos were mushy and extremely overseasoned with something herbaceous. I tasted them and they were disgusting. Great food and service in an unassuming spot on High Street just off I-80. Great for breakfast (this is where we go to with my sweetie's mom when she's visiting) or lunch. They also serve dinner, but that's usually a meal I have at home with my sweetie (who loves to cook). The service is superb. Play the quiz on the board and win ... nothing (except your waitress' respect). It's a tradition for us to go here for breakfast after the Tuesday morning Meddlers meeting or after we vote. I usually get the 3-in-1 breakfast (I think that's what it's called) which comes with eggs, pancakes and sausage. I'm stuffed when we leave. Reasonable prices, too. read more

This place is supposedly the house of omelets, but mine was subpar. The place is tiny and looks like it was last renovated in the 70's. There isn't much room in there to accommodate a group of people and even with our smaller group we felt cramped...I felt like I was in a funhouse with the thousands of crooked pictures on the wall..There is also nowhere to park unless you want to walk or attempt to parallel park on a busy street. The food/atmosphere isn't worth a second visit. read more
