Many of this traditional German specialties are still served at Edelweiss Restaurant

The Staff here at Edelweiss Restaurant is dressed up nicely in Bavarian, Black-Forest, Rhineland, and Saxon-German outfits, like Lederhosen, Dirndls, and other Disneyland-style Costumes, which makes things extra fun, especially when the accordion starts being played in an "Um-Pah" way. At Christmas time (Weinachten), the staff at Edelweiss Restaurant decks the entire places out like a Christmas Market (Weinachtmacht) in Munich. It is Delightful. I have eaten here many times, over numerous decades. It is a 5 minute drive from the cemetery where my entire family is buried. Oktoberfest 2025 begins on Saturday Sep. 6 and goes until Sunday Nov. 2 (it is a lot of fun if you like beer and live traditional German songs. I almost always order one or more of the following: Steak Tartar (as a starter), followed by Leberknodel Soupe (liver dumpling soup), and then either the Bavarian Pork Shank, or the Sauerbraten, or the Wiener Schnitzel (a breaded & fried veal cutlet that's as big and pounded flat as a large pancake) as my main. Get these with the Spätzle and the sweet stewed Red Cabbage for the best experience. There is truly no reason to order the burger or the salmon.

Did an early dinner and the inside is a full bar and full restaurant. Very German decor. We ordered appetizers, drinks, shared an entree and dessert. Everything tasted great and our server, Val was great! This is our go to local for local German food.

It's a very beautiful place and you can feel like you're at home in Germany. You have big pretzels at the table hanging on a piece of metal and you have lots of huge side dishes. You can enjoy to pick from. You can try the edelweiss sampler which has beef, sausage, pork loin, red, cabbage, sauerkraut, breaded chicken, which is lightly breaded and very good btw, spaetzle which is flour and egg and milk and water that comes out like it's small cut spaghetti pieces. The red cabbage and sauerkraut were very flavorful. The wait staff Jose was very nice and friendly. They have an outdoor beer garden for when the weather is nice and there is a free parking lot. The restaurant looks like a nice historic German home. Lovely cultural experience. Holiday dessert of coconut ice cream was very good!

I was hesitant at first but after coming to this place for dinner, I will absolutely be back! Amazing dinner and atmosphere! The food was delicious! The beer was amazing, and the service was spot on! We had a very friendly young woman who did everything right! 5 stars to the waitress. Definitely stop in and grab a pretzel and cold beer if you haven't!

Went to The Edelweiss restaurant yesterday to join a number of friends, friends I actually met at Edelweiss over the last 30 years to watch the superbowl. There's nothing better than enjoying yourself with good friends, good German beer and good food. Matt the master chef and manager was very gracious and put out a nice sampling of food in appreciation of all of the customers who have supported Edelweiss for years. We enjoyed mini beef sandwiches, meatballs, and chili, all which were out of this world delicious. Edelweiss does catering and special events too. I'm planning on having a party there in the near future and was looking for a catering package, it was nice to try the different items prior to the party that Edelweiss has to offer. I now know what we're going to be serving our guests. Well done Edelweiss!

I haven't tried a lot of German food but now I will be because Edelweiss has convinced me! You can't miss the restaurant! It's got this German cottage look. The Bavarian pretzel was sooo good! I'd come back for that alone! It was giant and the beer cheese was beering for sure! If you love beer cheese, then you've found your match! We also did the sausage sampler. Not bad. I like the cheese knackwurst the most. I also really enjoyed the live entertainment. The singers/musicians had a set list and they also came out and had people blow into a German horn and made a fun time out it. The decor definitely reminded me of tradition Germany. For entrees, we did the edelweiss platter and hackbraten (German meatloaf). If this is your first time here, then the idolize platter is definitely the way to go because you try a lot of their popular items and you get a lot of common German sides, too. The hackbraten was played super nicely. The meatloaf was the star for sure and the gravy was a nice touch.

Went to this neighborhood classic to celebrate a birthday and Edelweiss did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday during Octoberfest so they provided live music. The vocalist had a gorgeous voice and played the accordion with fast and nimble fingers! Overall a very lively performance with audience participation appreciated! Elizabeth was our waitress and brought our appetizers of cheese curds, giant pretzel and sausage sampler which was delicious. We were also served piping hot bowls of creamy mushroom soup that were so tasty! My main entree of wienershnitzle Ala Holstein was hearty and had a side of buttery spatzle and pickled red beets that paired lovely with the crispness of the shintzle. Another from our party ordered the gravy laden sauerbraten which was another standout classic! Dont miss the traditional dish of Bayerische Schweinshaxe especially if you are hankering for 3 pounds of roasted pork!! The flight of beers was a neat way to sample a few different beers! After you found your favorite beer you could then order a tall glass and continue your beer journey!!! If you are looking for old world German fare then come to Edelweiss and taste the comforting foods of Germany in a charming village restaurant atmosphere!!!

As soon as I walked in the door, I was transported back to what I would assume would be a beautiful small intimate restaurant in Germany! I made a reservation, which was absolutely unneeded. I was floored at the time I was there. There was only one other table occupied . The food was magnificent and the service was fantastic. This meal transported me back to Sunday afternoon meals with my grandma and brilliant German cuisine

LOVE LOVE LOVE I have been recommending Edelweiss to everyone and anyone who will listen since we celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday here. We absolutely had the best time possible and created a lifetime of memories. Everyone was so happy trying out different German beers but the ultimate winner was Hacker Pschorr. We came in on a weekend for the oompah music and were very pleased with all the crowd interaction! And oh my god the food was so so delicious. I ordered the meatloaf which I am still dreaming of. My husband ordered the ham and cheese pretzel panini and fell in love with that sandwich we ordered a second one to go home with us for the next day. Service was great and attentive, beautiful warm atmosphere, and everyone was incredibly inviting. If you're even reading this review you must go and try them out, enjoy the incredible experience.

My friend recommended this place to feel for Oktoberfest vibe. I drove from Schaumburg and realized this place was packed especially for parking. The whole Bavarian vibe (with some live music) inside was really cool. I enjoyed great beers, pretzel and sausage sampler. Our service from bartending folks was really good. I would come back again for actual meal.

It's Oktoberfest! Time for good food and drinks. Edelweiss delivered! Service is most friendly, warm and entertaining. Menu has abundant options for appetizer, sides, entrees, dessert, beer and wine. Food taste great and desserts good. Atmosphere inside felt great for as German style restaurant. Tip: Don't be intimidated by the unavailability on OpenTable. Just call to see if there's tables or just show up.

I love that as soon as you enter, you are transported to a tropical oasis that is dark and moody. I visited with a larger group so we made a reservation before. One pays $5 per person in your group and the amount is later applied to your bill. The food menu is minimal and most items weren't available sadly. We got two orders of their pineapple salsa with taro chips. It was yummy but wasn't enough substance to match the drink levels. For drinks, our group got a wide variety. They have all sorts of flavor pairings to accommodate every guest. I got the Captain's Revenge after hearing the Pearl Diver was unavailable. It was good but not amazing. For my second drink, I got the Chocolate Banana Old Fashioned which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't hear anyone in our group be disappointed with what they ordered. Our server, Jazmine, was very knowledgable about the menu and asking the right questions to make sure what we each ordered would be something we liked. Overall, this was a fun experience and I am happy I finally got to visit! My experience was slightly tainted with how much was not available the night we visited.

Although we are from the area, we had never visited before, and the photos immediately caught our attention. The bar fit our vibe perfectly, and after visiting a few times, we knew it was the right place for us. We rented both spaces: the main bar upstairs and Nightshade, the speakeasy downstairs. Moonflower has a small stage in the main bar, which we used for our ceremony. The space already has so much character that it needed very little decorating. We brought small flower vases and an altar piece that the bride and her now mother in law made together. After the ceremony, we held cocktail hour and served food buffet style in the main bar. Later, everyone moved downstairs to Nightshade. Its lounge atmosphere and dance floor were perfect for our 50 to 60 guests. Some people relaxed around the cocktail tables while others danced, so everyone could enjoy the night in their own way. Moonflower's event organizer, Morgan, was wonderful. She made the entire planning process feel easy and was a joy to work with. She helped turn our ideas into reality, assisting with day of logistics, décor, beverage packages, and every question that came up. She was always responsive and available. Morgan also helped us think through details that had not occurred to us, including coffee for our guests, explaining the parking situation, contacting nearby businesses about using their lots, and recommending DJs. We ultimately hired one of the DJs she suggested. Her extra support was incredibly helpful and took a great deal of stress out of planning. If you have not tried Moonflower's drinks, you are missing out. Their regular cocktail menu is fantastic, and our experience was even more special because of a custom cocktail session with Zach. He created signature drink options for each of us based on our tastes and favorite cocktails. Every option was spectacular, and the final drinks felt personal and special. We chose Funeral Potatoes for the food. Since they already handle the food at Moonflower, we were able to try many dishes beforehand. Our guests raved about everything. We especially recommend the brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and caprese sandwiches. Alexis, who heads up Funeral Potatoes, was also extremely helpful with selecting the menu. The only outside food we brought in was our wedding cake. The entire staff was phenomenal. Everyone treated the occasion with the perfect balance of care, professionalism, and fun. The night went off without a hitch and was truly one of the best nights of our lives. Moonflower was also extremely reasonable compared with other venues we considered in the city, especially with an open bar and food available on site. Street parking was plentiful, and none of our guests had trouble finding a spot. For anyone looking for a relaxed wedding for 50 to 60 people with a memorable lounge atmosphere, fantastic staff, buffet style food, and exceptional cocktails, Moonflower should be at the top of your list.

(Insane of me to wait at all at that point, I know) I didn't end up eating the food here, but the beer selection was lovely, and the ambiance was a vibe. Will come back, definitely with someone else.
