Waited in line for 20 minutes as there was only one person at the register to take your order. There were multiple people to ask if we wanted anything from the display area. These people did go over and help take orders at the 2 unused registers when multiple customers started complaining about long wait times for food. This ended after just a few minutes when someone must have realized orders were coming into the kitchen to quickly and this made wait times even longer. The "manager" even closed his computer and got up from one of the wall bar seats to help expo when multiple customers asked for a refund because they had waited over 30 minutes for their order. Apparently all orders take about 30 minutes at breakfast. We had the bacon egg and cheese croissants (Luke warm) and the breakfast potatoes (bland/no seasoning). We couldn't believe it took that long. At least the coffee was good and hot. I would expect a LOT more for $28 for breakfast for 2. read more

Edgar's has wonderful cakes, lemon squares, cinnamon rolls, cheese straws etc. at all locations, but not all locations are the same. This one, the one in Trussville is the absolute best (and I have eaten breakfast or lunch in several.) Service is wonderful, and presentation is always beautiful. read more

Trussville is swamped with fast food and big chain restaurants, so this kind of establishment is a breath of fresh air. The vibe and layout are just fantastic- very home-y and welcoming. I can't speak to its merits as a bakery (their cakes LOOKED very appetizing) but the breakfast I had there was delicious. If this is the trend Trussville is gonna take with their downtown, then I am very excited because Edgar's is a quality business that deserves a visit. read more

I ran into Edgar's at 5:50p on a Saturday to grab a cake. They were out of the Strawberry cake so I bought a German Chocolate. They even decorated it quickly for my dad's 80th birthday. So fast! I so appreciate their great customer service. The cake was stacked high and super moist. The icing was nicely distributed between the layers and every bite was a tasteful treat. My dad was so happy and the family loved the chocolate cake. read more

Working lunch. Recently renovated building in downtown Trussville. This place is a combination: deli, bakery and nick-nack shoppe. We had the apple cranberry jam grilled cheese (which was quite tasty by the way) and the pimento cheese sandwich. My meal includes a sweet peppery slaw that was presently surprising. They have several bite sized samples around the room for you to taste their desserts. read more

I want to like this place because it's a new local business that could be an asset to Trussville's nearly nonexistent culinary scene. There is so much potential for them to knock it out of the park - in terms of location and lack of competition. I've only had positive experiences in the other Edgar's locations, but after two visits, I've had two different checkout staff members be rude when I politely asked questions and ordered. Also, both times they either totally forgot my order or left off part of it. Their broccoli cheese soup IS delicious though. read more

I had the worst experience ever with Edgar's Trussville! I prepaid for a half sheet cake for my mother's 87th Birthday. The cake was very thin and dry! I've never had a cake soo terrible and will never order from them again. I've ordered cakes from Edgar's before and never had this experience. I spoke with Brent(manager) and he was not apologetic and stated that their sheet cakes are always thin. I am just appalled at the service I received. read more

I try and try to love them. I was excited for theTrussville location because our bakeries are limited and I would always drive to the other side of town. I was also hoping maybe it wouldn't be as busy as some of the other locations and quality would be better. This has not been the case. The only things we really like are the breakfast sandwiches. My husband is not a sweets person, but he loves their pumpkin pound cake. A month or so after it opened I bought him a pound cake for his birthday cake. We cut into it and it's was moldy. Another problem we have had is the cheese straws pre packaged always taste old like they have been in the plastic a couple of weeks. I will not buy things off the shelf at this location. I do like a couple of the sweets in the cases, but I always ask when they were put out or replaced. If you get petit ford the only good ones in my opinion are the chocolate. The cakes and cupcakes always seem dry and old. The icing is too dry. The exception to this is the strawberry cakes, I personally do not eat these, however, my family does. I don't know why for such a large company and large volume the baked goods aren't more fresh. Over the years their quality has definitely suffered. Most associates have been very friendly, but there is always a shortage of people working the cake pick up line and the case. read more

I really wanted this place to be great. The building is beautiful but the staff are horrible. They have such a do not care attitude. I've tried to find this place 3 different times to be satisfactory but it is so below par. My first time eating there, there was someone else's hair in my chicken salad. Ordered a specialty cake for a tailgate party...when I cut into the cake, it was not the flavor I ordered. This is not the first time this has happened from Edgar's. This is the third time. This is my first time going back in over a year, and first time at the Trussville location. After spending almost 80.00 on a cake, they offered a 25.00 gift card because only 2/3 of the cake was left. We will throw the rest of it away. It's not the flavor we like. I guess we were supposed to tell the rest of the tailgate party not to eat it so we could get a refund. Instead, we share with some firefighters. Short story...save your money. Go to Savages. Visiting from out of town and my daughter and I went for breakfast. I asked the clerk what was the darkest coffee and she suggested the jazzy java, absolutely terrible. For some reason, the Trussville Edgar's doesn't live up to the standard set by other locations, especially the Colonade. Tables are always dirty, which means customers have to clean them themselves. Employees are clueless when it comes to the menu. I've often left discovering that my to-go order for lunch is incorrect or that they've given me the wrong flavor I've chosen from the case. And, when it comes to ordering custom cakes, they aren't clear on what costs extra, etc. So you may not get the cake you asked for, which is what happened today but I just had to go with it for time. read more
