We did The Hostage and it was a fun game. We failed, but it was mostly what we expected-- dark room with some challenging puzzles and a scary ambience and a couple of jump scares. Vincent was a great host, he was personable during the room briefing and it was fun hearing him role play throughout the puzzle. The room itself had a few flaws to point out. Some of the puzzles and rooms had broken pieces such as screws that came loose and magnets that broke off of some puzzles and I wasn't sure if that would affect our ability to complete the puzzles or not. It also wasn't clear how we unlocked some of the puzzles either. For example, we would be lost doing a random puzzle or tasks and suddenly a new door opens but none of us knew what triggered it. I wish there was a more clear signal that made it obvious when a puzzle was solved. Some of the hints we got from the host weren't helpful either, and so even when we gave in and asked for hints, we were still stuck and not progressing for a while. All in all, I think it was a challenging room and not too bad but needs some work with the infrastructure (repairs) so that we aren't second guessing whether or not something is broken or intended to be that way. read more

My group of 7 did hostage on a Saturday noon. Even though the website says 2-6 people recommended. I called ahead asking if they can accommodate an extra person and they said that's fine. The group just needs to come 15 minutes earlier or so to submit the payment in person for the additional player. Our game master was Darren. It was literally a one man show. He did everything from setting us up in the room to being game master on overhead speaker. The HOSTAGE was more thriller than scary. Yes there are live actors as mentioned in the briefing, but they won't touch you thankfully lol. The entire game I was on edge because of how spooky the setting was. The only issue I had and didn't appreciate much was how dark it was. It was difficult feeling around and finding puzzles at one point, but I get it - it's obviously part of the scare ambiance. There are also bathrooms on the same floor as the escape room. It's just around the corner so you have to check in first then the employee will take you. Bathroom was clean. I would 100% come back and play Nursery if I wasn't such a baby when it comes to scary, spooky themed rooms. read more

My friends and I came out to give EDscapade Games a try. Eventhough it was a beta test for their only available room, I was very impressed. The way their teamed kept to the theme from beginning to end, it just made it feel like you weren't paying to go through another escape room with just the challenge of solving the puzzles. I did the Hostage room here with my friends, and it was my second time at an escape room (first one was Omescape: Kingdom of Cat-tastrophy). My standards of escape rooms remain very high because this place was super immersive and well-planned!! If you're looking for more of a thrill, this place a must-try!! The set, ambiance, and personalization was extremely impressive. I can be a scaredy-cat when I'm alone, but the experience was just perfectly thrilling enough! I don't want to elaborate further for fear of spoiling anything, but this is definitely a place to check out if you're into escape rooms and thrills. However, there were two instances when we had the correct answer to the puzzles, but the lock needed some jiggling to get open. Luckily, they give you enough hints to let you know if you're on the right path. Also, a big shoutout to Peter, our Game Master, who made the experience many times better!!! I feel like he really knew what to say and how to cater to his audience. I really had a ton of fun at this place and would love to come back for the other two games when I have a chance. One would even be able to replay these rooms, because they have secret or alternate endings!!! That's something I haven't heard of before for an escape room, so I think that's super neat!!! Mega props to Peter and the team for planning all of this out! The technology involved was awesome too! If you do go, it says to arrive 15 minutes early so there's enough time to sign the waivers (if you don't do it beforehand) and go to the bathroom. Also don't forget to check in for your free sticker. I totally forgot! If you go with 5 people like I did, sometimes a person might feel useless because there are only so many portable lights and spaces around the puzzle. There's also only one important light that was used multiple times. I think 4 might be a good amount for everyone to do something, but I didn't mind being useless for this one bahaha. She gave us helpful hints and made the atmosphere better by lightning the mood a bit. My group and I had a blast doing Hostage and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try it. The description might sound scary but in the room it isn't that scary more thrilling. Only pointing fingers at The Nursery. Let me start with this. What a Wonderful set up. I was so impressed with the trap rooms and seemingly endless ways to enjoy the escape room experience. Great sound effects, top notch equipment. Now, however, I feel obligated to warn others. If you are new to escape rooms or even a pro, your money invested will feel like its falling through a drain. It had so much potential to be great. I know The Nursery is still in its testing phase, but I am still a fraction of a hair disappointed. Not because there is a zero percent success rate, not because I hate losing. Only that the ending was just an end. No ghost attacking, no fake deaths, nothing chasing me. I wanted the experience of fear; not losing three things in a row. First losing money, second losing time, third just losing. I do want to point out, that I am 100 percent certain the other escape rooms are worth every penny, based on the amount of good reviews. Me and my friend just got unlucky and picked a bad apple. Went with a group of friends and family, and we had a great time. Our hosts were Paige, Ahn and Leo. They did an amazing job, and I really appreciate the level of personalized interaction they had with us while playing this escape room. We played "Nursery", and in my opinion, it was pretty scary (I definitely screamed more than I should have). Without spoiling too much, there were some aspects that reminded me of the video game "Phasmophobia". Although we did not complete the room, we had such a fun time that our group will definitely come back for more to either try out their other games or re-challenge Nursery. Leo, Paige, and Ahn, if you're reading this, just wanted to say you guys were great and definitely made our night. This was our very first escape room, and we're definitely inspired to play more. My girlfriend and I have been doing escape rooms for the past 2 years together and have had good and bad experiences with them. We just came to Edscapade Games hoping to find new escape rooms for us to explore, but had a terrible experience with our first one. We did the escape room BOX, and all of the puzzles were simply old, unclear, and vague. The puzzles did NOT have a clear path way to escape. Usually puzzles will compound together with one leading to the next leading to the next, but we found ourselves feeling lost most of the time. The puzzles themselves also seemed out of date and needed to be polished up (mostly visibly speaking). Our game host was nice and helped set up the mood pertaining to the theme of the escape room, but missed on clarifying some of the rules when we were doing the puzzles. Overall, would not recommend BOX but we might come back to try the other ones to give it a second chance ‍. read more

Edscapade was awesome!!!! We did the BOX game and there were 6 of us when we went and Jonathan was our gamesmaster. Jon was awesome playing the part of the game and really helped us with making the experience a memorable one. The game itself was pretty immersive and the puzzles were great that it wasnt just a ton of lock and combinations and we even had to DANCE! Yes dance to solve one of them! My group played the new room, Nursery, which our GM told us was similar to Phasmophobia. My understanding of that game is that players work together, communicate, and seek out the paranormal in order to determine what kind of haunting is happening. For Nursery, it requires you to do the exact opposite. Do not speak to each other because you will be punished and you do not want paranormal things to happen because it will impede your progress. Our GM also told us at the start that communication was very important and told us to communicate with each other. However, once we got into the room, he kept telling us we were too loud and were increasing the paranormal activity. After the game some staff members tried to clarify by saying we were only supposed to communicate one way and that what happened in a separate room would not affect the person in another room. This was the exact opposite of what we experienced since what team members were doing in a separate room was affecting other players as relayed to us by our GM. They also could not explain how we were supposed to communicate with each other if we couldn't talk. In addition, there was a situation where we had to tell a team member specifically not to speak (as directed by our GM). But in order to solve his puzzle, he had to speak a phrase. He ended up just saying it so he could finish the puzzle, but that was extremely confusing. What we experienced of Nursery was mostly fetch quests/scavenger hunt. Go find this item. Now put it back. Go find pieces of this item. Now put it back. I wouldn't say the puzzles are necessarily hard. It's just hard to figure out what you're supposed to be doing/fetching especially with the thick layer of fog in the room. Our pictures at the end of the game ended up looking low-res because of how thick the fog was. Bottom line, it seems they need to figure out their messaging for this room because during the game and even among staff members there were conflicting instructions. Also, describing this room as similar to Phasmophobia is misleading since all they took from the game is one mechanic relating to sanity. read more

Just got done doing "hostage" & our group had a lot of fun! It was all of our first times doing an escape room & I'm amazed at how creative they were to create the rooms/puzzles/riddles. Im a big baby and hostage was medium scary, but pretty scary for me LOL. Hannah was our host & peter was our game master & they were very helpful to make sure we were progressing along the game! We ran out of time but we were veryyy close to the end. I also love how the ED in EDscape was for education & everyone on the team were educators/college students. I'm so happy I got to have this experience they put on which also helps with their tuition as well!! Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely incredible (and scary) experience for The Hostage with our GM Andy (aka Kevin who got captured 3 months ago!). I'm one of the biggest chickens you'll ever know, and this escape room was frightening to my core. However, thank goodness we had Andy there to make it exhilarating and funny for us! He truly made the experience one of the best escape rooms we've ever been in. We felt immersed into the story and the rooms were all intricately designed and detailed. "Hostage" is probably the "scariest" escape room I've done. Just expect to be in a serial killer's dungeon/cell area and that it will be dark. The darkness is actually what makes the room so difficult because you won't notice things on the walls for instance. You only get little LED candles to provide you light. The warning is that there are actor(s) involved but they only interact with you from afar so don't worry about someone actually touching you after the game begins. There are "jump scares" due to loud noises. The experience is very immersive and I like most of the puzzles even though they are difficult. I plan to come back for the other room(s) some time. read more

I booked the B.o.X. room because it was the easiest one (2 out of 5 difficulty) and the experience was like none of the other escape rooms me and my group have ever done! I've done 3 escape rooms other from 2 different places and the others in my group have done 3 or 4 more than me so we're still relatively new. Our Game Masters, Clay & Caitlin were AMAZING! They were in character the whole entire time and made the experience a lot more enjoyable. There was never a dull moment from beginning to end! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
