It was our first time at Edward's as we wanted to check out Cincinnati night. Why did we wait so long to go?! The decor and ambiance are classic bistro diner. The service was good, considering they were rushed off their feet due to the crowd. It was my first time having 5 way and it was good. A neighbourhood spot I've been to a number of times. A friend and I had an early dinner during the week. It wasn't too crowded until after 7. I had the corn chowder as a starter. Very hearty! My friend ordered the salmon burger and I had the tuna steak, which l'd never tried. Both were excellent: very well prepared, accompanied by rice and sauteed or grilled vegetables. I have enjoyed their grilled tuna sandwich, turkey burger in the past. Today I had lox on a bagel . The lox was lousy and bagel tasted like cardboard. My friend & I were disgusted by the rude waiter. After ordering hot coffee - he brought iced coffee and insisted I ordered iced coffee. After arguing he finally brought be a cup of hot coffee . Right across the street from the Odeon, Edward's is a more casual French/Mexican diner where the menu has something for everyone (salads, burgers, pasta, soups). The Cincinnati Skyline monthly chili sounded intriguing, if only because I rarely see that featured on a menu here. The food was just all right. The chicken with my Caesar was cooked and seasoned exceptionally well, but there were more than a few brown, wilted romaine leaves and the salad was a touch too heavy for my preference. My husband liked the Tribeca cobb a lot. We came on a super humid, 90-degree May evening. They don't have air-con, just fans, and sitting in the area by the bar right next to the window was stifling and hotter than just sitting in their outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Overall, not sure I'd come back given the plethora of options in this neighborhood but it's a good stand-by if you can't get reservations for somewhere else, especially if you're a larger group/have kids. read more

I wish I could give this a better review, I was so excited to finally find a Cincinnati place in the city (which they have on the last Monday of every month). The food was delicious and it felt like a taste of home. However, the hostess was so. Incredibly. Rude. It was unbelievable. I had called 4 hours before my reservation to push it back 15 minutes, and the guy I spoke to said that was fine. However, when I get there, this woman repeatedly tells me there is no reservation under my name (I made this reservation months ago). Not only that, she does it in the most condescending way. She then tells us we have to "hurry up" as there is another reservation coming 2 hours later (?) but then doesn't come back to take our order for 20 minutes. It's unfortunate I chose to spend my birthday dinner at such a homey place, and yet it was ruined by the hostess/waitress. I would only return if I knew she wouldn't be there. read more

This restaurant is located in a building built in 1915. One can still lots of the remnants of the past. Ordered the Spicy Calamari w spicy marinara and tartar sauce (pic on right). Fried to perfection. Tartar sauce not sure if home made or not but decent. Ordered for main meal the Rigatoni w Italian Sausage in Creamy Tomato Sauce. Dare I say delicious? Yes; delicious. Don't expect the sausage to be whole rather it's finely diced and my new preference. The cream sausage - divine. I enjoyed this so much actually ordered another to go. Parking; lucked out on off street parking. Ambiance is the charm of a building over 100 years of age. Wait staff cordial and offered recommendation of what they liked on the menu. Would I go back again; I would but not often since I'm in NJ and trekking to NY I find to be a pain. Might use public transport to get their next time. I Highly Recommend Edward's!! We didn't realize we were arriving 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. Not only were they Super nice about it and said go ahead and order, but the food was Superb! We each got something totally different-half a chicken with vegetables, grilled tuna Nicoise salad, Mediterranean salad, a pasta dish-and each was Excellent! The blueberry bread pudding is one of the Best Desserts any of us had ever had!! The workers here are super nice and do their best to give you a pleasant dine-in experience. My food came out pretty quickly - roughly 15 mins. The fries were fried and salted nicely. They were thin enough to be super tasty. The bread for my sandwich was toasted just right - though it made it hard to bite into as the sandwich was stuffed with a lot of chicken and toppings. It was really tall. So biting it was a bit of a challenge, even with a big open mouth. But it was still delicious. Chicken had great flavor too but it was a bit dry in some areas. First time dining out with friends in months since Covid-19 struck. Not too many places open for business, as al fresco dining was the only kind of service permitted at this time. The first couple of places we tried dining at had early closing hours, so we felt lucky to stumble upon Edward's. They had a nice outdoor setup with plenty of tables placed socially distant apart from each other. Large umbrellas over most tables placed out on the street with large planters separating the diners from passing traffic. My friends and I chose to sit as far away from street traffic as possible, so we sat right outside the restaurant entrance. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. All of the staff wore masks. The menu was simple with standard fare. After months of eating nothing but my own cooking at home, I was willing to eat almost anything they put in front of me, but the Pat LaFrieda Hamburger stood out on the menu. I had a couple of friends swear by the quality of Pat LaFrieda hamburgers that they cooked at home, and I had never tried them before, so this was my order. Other than a few tweaks of the sides and toppings, it turned out to be the same order of two friends, but it was nice that they could accommodate changes to the menu. Another friend decided to have the Roast Chicken with broccoli and side salad. We also ordered two fish tacos and fried calamari to share as appetizers. The two starters were tasty and good. The batter they used to fry the calamari and fish were the same cornmeal type of batter. Gritty texture in terms of mouthfeel, but not overly caked with it, so it still felt light. I found the way they made the fish tacos interesting. Rather than frying a slice of a filet of fish, which is what I'm used to seeing from other restaurants, they were cubed and then fried, so the fried fish were these little nuggets under toppings of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes, on top of two flour tortillas. The combination of everything in each bite was quite tasty, but because the fish was cut small and covered completely with cornmeal batter, you don't taste the fish as much as you would if they were larger slices. That being said, I still enjoyed them, and I could see myself ordering them again. My friends and I all ordered our burgers cooked medium, but I felt the one I got was cooked well-done. It didn't really matter though, because the burger was delicious! Even well-done, the burger was juicy and had good flavor. It was tender to the bite and was complimented beautifully with the fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions that topped it. The slices of pickles also gave the burger a tangy, juicy bite. The fries were okay. I left most of them untouched. My friends who had the broccoli for the sides said it was cooked perfectly. The friend who had the roast chicken said it was unremarkable in terms of flavor, but it was cooked nicely, not dry. He had ordered a side salad with his chicken, but received mashed potatoes instead. Our waiter was quick to correct the order by bringing the side salad without taking the mashed potatoes back. I tasted the mashed potatoes, but they were unremarkable, as well. Side salad was a dish of simply dressed, fresh baby greens, which I did not taste, but looked like the better option to the fries and mashed potatoes. As luck would have it during our first foray into dining al fresco, the sky just opened up and poured. This was the year of violent rainstorms, and this storm was no different. Luckily, our waiter came out and acted quick. He opened up the huge retractable canopy attached to the front of the restaurant overhead, and I was saved from looking like something the cat dragged in. Wonderful. We were able to finish our meal and enjoy each other's company a little longer while we waited out the storm. We felt the service we received was very good, and of course, the tip we gave reflected that, but more so because of this pandemic. Nice staff, great room, lovely location, but the food isn't that great. In some places they fuss about having all members of your party present before they seat you, not here. Despite a busy weekend lunch hour on a beautiful day, they were totally chill. Food and wine - ordered half a caraffe of Pinot Grigio - I think it was $10 - arrived before she arrived. Not a problem at all. She arrived all smiles to find her mixed green salad with a hard boiled egg - they have a poached egg add option but had no issues substituting - and me with a wonderful ham and cheese sandwich and fries. I am not from the Midwest, but I was curious about what Skyline chili tasted like, so I came to Edward's for their monthly Cincinnati night. The place was packed and lively. I ordered the 5-way chili (spaghetti, cheese, chili, onions & beans) for the full experience. The portion was thankfully not too huge, which was perfect because the meal was obviously heavy. I enjoyed the richness of the dish, and the unexpected note of sweetness from the chili. I think next time I would skip the onions because they were super strong, but I'm glad I tried them. The best part of the meal was the Graeter's black raspberry chip ice cream for dessert, which is the best ice cream I've had in recent memory. The black raspberry ice cream is tart, creamy, and flaked with dark chocolate chips that melt in your mouth on contact. I need to get my hands on more! read more

There was a gentleman sitting behind me, one lady at the bar, and another woman at a table. I had a blanc de blanc while waiting on my bf to arrive and it was delicious. Fair wine prices for NYC to boot. While very friendly, the service was beyond slow. It appeared as though the bartender was waiting on the tables as well. That being said, the other parties already had their orders in front of them so I'm not sure what the lag in service was related to. The guacamole we ordered was delicious. It had a great kick to it and was not over-salted. The portion size was very, very small for $12, though. Adding pico de gallo was an additional $2. At $14, it was about as much guacamole as you'd get as a side order by any reasonable expectations. It was very good, but for the portion size I'd honestly skip it, expecially if you'd have to share it. I ended up ordering the smoked turkey, bacon, and cheese sandwich and enjoyed it quite a bit. My boyfriend and I were both impressed; it was a terrific sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw, but it was better than average here. Not milky, thankfully and there was more red cabbage used which I actually liked. Across the board I was very impressed with the food and this place is worth a visit in. Came here for Cincinnati night - which they have once a month with Skyline Chili and Graeter's Ice Cream. All of this was new to me, but a friend went to Ohio State and apparently these two brands are huge over there. Unfortunately this place disappointed me a bunch. First off, we had a 7:30 reservation for a party of 6 but didn't sit down until after 8:00. I get that they're busy and the seating time isn't guaranteed but once we got seated, no one was in a hurry to get us water or take our order. And the place was no longer crowded. So there's really not much of an excuse for that. We flagged someone down for water and he did promptly take our order since we were all ready by that point. We had the homemade potato chip and bbq sauce appetizer (you dip the potato chips in the bbq sauce). And it was okay. But it was just potato chips and bbq sauce. Not much to say there. I had to get the chili since it's the staple of Cincinnati night. It comes 3-way, 4-way, or 5-way (meaning the toppings on it). I went all out and got the 5-way which came with Skyline chili, spaghetti?! (odd), cheese, onions and beans. There really wasn't much chili if any. It was all of the other toppings. And it was $15! The boyfriend had the ribs which were a very small portion but priced at $19. I think they're frozen overnight shipped from Cincinnati so I guess that's why such a high price point. For dessert we had the ice cream which is $6 for a very small portion (also from Ohio so therefore expensive for not much of a portion). I got the mint chip and the chips were great they were soft chunks of chocolate. The mint ice cream was more like vanilla. It was really tasty, but it was not mint flavored at all. My friend agreed. In the end, I'm glad I came and tried it. But nothing to write home about. read more

I was served uncooked chicken and was never given a apology and the waiter still added it to my bill. Do yourself a favor. Never go to the joke of a cafe. This place sucks! The salmon was nothing special, the salad bland except for the avocado which is a guaranteed delight as long as it's ripe, but frankly it wasn't as bad as to warrant a two star review. Why the harsh rating then, you ask? Well, let me tell you - in some ways this might be the best (or worst) deal you're ever going to get at a Manhattan restaurant because one of the waiters (tall blonde-ish kind of guy) gets so touchy while taking your order that you might be legitimately confused whether the main event is the food that you're about to gobble up or the straight up back and neck massage this dude administers with a stone cold face while taking your order. I guess if you're into getting touched a lot by a complete stranger you have a good shot at getting your money's worth and then some, however if you're less inclined to cross those kind of boundaries with the waiting staff maybe The Odeon across the street is the safer choice. Edit: I want to acknowledge that the owner has reached out to me in a kind gesture to apologize for the experience I had and to inform me that the server he believes I am describing is no longer on staff. I am adding a star back because I appreciate how the owner handled this feedback and except for the odd behavior of this presumably non-current staff member this place is not the kind of disappointment that warrants a 2 star rating. read more

My girlfriend found Edward's restaurant online and we decided to meet there for dinner one night. We did not have a reservation on Tuesday evening around 6:30, but we were able to choose our table and walk right in. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty hot in the restaurant as well as outside. The man who seated us told us to head to the back where it was cooler. He also ended up being our server and our bartender. His name is Michael, and he was amazing and took great care of us. My girlfriend is getting married in a few months so we had a lot to celebrate. I ordered a martini, and Michael made it great-way to listen to my specific martini instructions. My girlfriend ordered an app or aperol spritz but that got ruined by a mosquito halfway through. We both ordered the seared ahi tuna with vegetables and rice. The food came out in about 20 to 25 minutes and it was absolutely delicious. Possibly one of the healthiest menu options there. We were both very happy with our choices. I told Michael about her engagement and upcoming wedding and asked him for two glasses of Prosecco. He brought them right over and also took them off the check as a congratulations to her. That was very sweet. He also asked us if we wanted photos taken of us, which was also very nice. He took a lot and they are adorable. The prices are very fair. Two cocktails, and two ahi tuna dinners plus tax was only $70. I gave him a card plus cash but he took the cash and didn't take it off the bill. That confused me, but it was totally fine. Overall, this restaurant had great service, it's in an amazing location, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the drinks and food are great. They also have happy hour and a lot of specials. Wandered in for a solo lunch on a Sunday afternoon. There were a few tables of brunch-goers and a couple people seated at the bar, sipping brews and watching sports, but overall, the vibe was rather lowkey, which I appreciated. The server let me sit wherever, so I stationed myself at a large booth toward the front of the place; a few minutes later, he took my order, and then he left me alone. I was feeling nostalgic that day and got the chicken tenders, a staple amongst the selection of three items from which I would order at restaurants as a child, and they were pretty good, albeit a bit dry (yes, even with dipping sauces), but the presentation was nice, and everything else was in order. Stopped by for brunch over the weekend mostly because the restaurant we wanted to go to did not have a table. It took at least 10 mins to have our orders taken but I get it as it was busy. They forgot about our food as the next table had theirs despite sitting down 15 minutes after us. We checked with another waitress who gave us an attitude since she wasn't the one who took our orders. Our waitress was busy since she also had to make drinks among many other things. When the food finally came, it was cold. We also asked for hot water for our teas which came in on the third try. When we finally asked for a check, no one came and took the credit card for at least 10 minutes till I went up to the bar and handed it over. No apologies whatsoever. It's not a place I would want to come back for some cold eggs. I know the next two tables next to us had some hiccups with their orders too. They need some management intervention. read more

Small lunch/brunch place in Tribeca. Nothing is nothing particularly trendy or new about it, but it was just really well managed. It had a great ambiance. Very chill and yet everything working in perfect sync. You get the feel that whether the next person walking through the door is a local 20-something looking to watch the World Cup, or Jennifer Lawrence looking for a quick bite to eat before heading off to a movie premiere... that they will all be taken care of with impeccable perfection. The menu is simple and classic. The food is executed with simplicity and it absolutely delicious. They have 4 huge TVs facing all angles so that you can watch whatever is on. Service is friendly and prompt. We were in and out of there pretty quick. Table for four. A yummy omelette with spinach and swiss cheese, fresh and crispy french fries on the side - $13.
