Egg Harbor is hands down my favorite breakfast spot in Naperville for a few reasons: One (and to me the most important) is their gluten free variety. I was so excited when I ordered for the first time and saw that they feature a separate menu that is completely gluten free, from cinnamon rolls (order now!), skillets, and tuna melts. Two, I love Egg Harbor for their service. I've dined inside and also ordered carry-out multiple times, and each experience is just as good as the last. They even messed up a takeout order once, and completely remade my meal AND reimbursed me for the inconvenience without asking. Three, they close at 2, but will let you dine in and order beverages up until the last minute-even allowing us to order after 2 on one occasion. You know this place really can't be beat for promptness, cleanliness, great food and service. The Birthday Boys favorite breakfast joint has it all! Fresh egg dishes, great avocado toast and melt in your mouth pancakes like Mom's. Shhhh "as good as moms"! I didn't tell you that. The chicken salad was pretty amazing too! My boyfriend and I dined here for brunch on a Saturday. I have been craving the one dish I always order from Egg Harbor Cafe, the Lobster Scrambler, and although I don't normally eat at chain restaurants while traveling, the craving was so strong this day I had to have it! We arrived close to noon and surprisingly, there were still many patrons waiting and the entrance area was packed. My boyfriend put our names on the list and we were quoted a wait time of 15 minutes. We walked around the area and returned a bit before our time was up, but our true wait ended up to be closer to 20-25 minutes. We were seated swiftly and greeted immediately. Our orders were easy: 2 coffees, the lobster scrambler: Lobster and seafood blend, cream cheese, and green onion, topped with hollandaise. My boyfriend had the Aztec Omelette: Chorizo, fresh jalapeño,avocado and cilantro, topped with Pepper Jack cheese, sour cream and tomato. My boyfriend totally loved his dish - he kept saying over and over how much he loved the fresh ingredients and the spice of the Chorizo. I liked my lobster scrambler, but I feel like this version had maybe too much hollandaise than I've had before. The accompaniments that came with my scrambler, roasted potatoes and a buttered english muffin, seemed almost too greasy and not as appetizing as I've had at other Egg Harbor Cafe locations. Family-oriented, welcoming atmosphere, and flavorful food! Easily one of my new favorite breakfast/brunch restaurants in the Naperville area. Came on an early Saturday morning. The restaurant was busy to say the least, but they had a great flow of service going. Our waiter was informative and kind. He accommodated all our requests and really made our experience even better! We started off by trying their seasonal latte (Iced Brown Sugar Latte). It was pretty good, definitely tasted seasonal. I wouldn't purchase again but I did appreciate the experience. I ordered a Mimosa, which came with a live orange and strawberry. Champagne used was of quality + DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Opted to build my own omelet, which included all the fixings. They had a large selection of veggies, meat, and cheese options. You could build your own scramble, hash, or omelette. Loved that feature! Restaurant was clean and inviting. Great brunch! I was so excited to see Shakshuka on the menu. My brother in law made it for me once and it was amazing but I could never remember what it was called. Came here on multiple occasions when staying in the Naperville area for a week. This is probably the best brunch place in town! Not only is ALL of the food excellent, the service is always very friendly, excellent and quick, and the prices are quite reasonable for the amount of food you get. The place does get a bit busy, but even if you have to wait, you won't have to wait for too long. While anything you order from here will be great, I especially recommend ordering from their "create your own omelette" menu. The eggs here are to die for, since they always taste so fresh. Egg Harbor is my favorite breakfast place. Went there yesterday with some new people and was very disappointed. Their food was not hot and I had Key West Crepes. Presentation of the crepes was poor and the strawberries were chunks. The worst was the outside of the coffee carafe was sticky and dirty. The sugar container had something dark on the side and the grooves in the lid were also very dirty. They need to step up and the clean. I will give them one more try and then I am done. This place is a hidden gem in the western suburbs. Egg Harbor has become my wife and I go to place for breakfast/brunch. They offer outside seating and a great atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, but the food and service are honestly outstanding. When the kids want breakfast for lunch, you feed them brunch. After reading some reviews on yelp on breakfast joints in downtown Naperville, stopped by this one. We were seated within seconds of walking in. After being seated, we were greeted by someone who said our waitress would be by shortly and asked for our drink orders, which we received promptly. After waiting close to 10 mins for a waitress to come by, I was close to walking out. 10 mins was completely unacceptable without even stopping by to apologize and say you're busy but will be gladly take my order shortly. Instead the gentlemen who took our drink orders apologized and said our waitress was busy and he would be taking our orders. We had the kids classic breakfast- potatoes, bacon, eggs, and half an English muffin. The breakfast of champions- rainbow pancakes (pancakes with m&ms) in them, sausage, and bacon. And I had the smoky mountain scrambler- tomatoes, bacon, avocado (added spinach) potatoes, and half an muffin. I love potatoes ...like really LOVE potatoes. But I did not like their potatoes. They were dry and not crispy enough for my liking. They looked bland, but they were actually pretty salty. There was definitely no look appeal to them. Just chopped up potatoes, with some green onions on them. While the kids enjoyed their meal, I thought mine could have been better. Especially since the potatoes were like half my meal... the place could used a little facelift. I love history and all, but I don't think getting updated would hurt this place.. on the plus side, great location. Beware if trying to use a Downtown Naperville gift card. The restaurant is listed on the Downtown Naperville Gift Card site as one of the merchants that the card can be used at. When we entered we asked if the gift card was accepted and we were told yes by the hostess. Upon leaving when we tried to pay, we were told they didn't accept the gift card. Came to Egg Harbor Cage to catch up with a dear friend and grab some breakfast! We came at about 10AM on a Saturday and because you cannot make reservations ahead of time, expect a wait. Our wait time was about 30 minutes. Something that could make the wait experience better is more seating! It's usually crowded at this time and they do have seating available but there is always so many people waiting to dine hopefully they can expand one day to accommodate the influx. I did notice that there was complimentary coffee by the hostess stand for people to grab while waiting- a definite perk! Once we got seated our server popped on over quickly and we ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice. It's a little pricey but worth it because it is always so fresh tasting. He came back after grabbing our juices and I ordered the ultimate skillet that came with potatoes, ham, mushroom, green pepper, onion, tomato and Jack and cheddar cheese. I unfortunately have a lactose sensitivity so I asked for a lite amount of cheese and he said it was no problem. The skillet came out perfectly. The potatoes had a good outside crunch and the eggs were soft yet not dry. The potatoes were my favorite part with whatever seasoning was on them! It was served with your choice of bread and was a large amount of food but I was hungry so I easily finished it. My friend got the eggs benedict and she said the sauce was creamy and her eggs were cooked perfectly too. We love this place! The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. The location is perfect downtown Naperville basically on the riverwalk and is family friendly. My advice is to just be mindful of the potential wait times :) Try them out for sure if you are in the area. read more

Had lunch with a friend at Egg Harbor in Naperville for the first time in a couple of years and I was very disappointed in the quality of my meal. I ordered their cheeseburger. The first thing I noticed that caught me by surprise was that our meal came in 5 minutes. A cheeseburger - in 5 minutes at a sit down restaurant?! My first bite spoke volumes. I'm guessing they have a stack of burgers precooked and then warm cheese on top of it when an order comes in. The cheese was melted and the meat was just lukewarm. The potatoes also looked like they'd been warming in a large pot and looked like they'd been cooked hours before. They too were just luke warm. Cutting corners to save time just doesn't cut it. I've been here a million times since my last review, so it was time for an update! I came yesterday with my friend and her seven-year-old. Being a week-end, it was pretty crowded and we had a small wait, but since all of Naperville seemed to be flowing through the doors, we happened to run into someone I knew so that made the time go faster! This place is as rooster-full as ever; where do they get all these pictures?? We were seated in a BIG booth, and I realized that this place has expanded since I was last here! (We'd already noted that the door on Jackson is now closed and you come in through the parking lot on the east side of the building. Good deal, since that small staircase inside the old doorway was pesky.) Our waiter was attentive and friendly, taking the child in the party seriously as he ordered the Breakfast of Champions (M&M pancakes, an egg, sausage and bacon). My friend got the seasonal pumpkin roll french toast combo, and I had the shrimp and grits (not gonna lie, the shrimp were a little tough. But the overall flavor of the grits with cheese and bacon was yummy, though I picked off all the cilantro on top...that's Southwestern, not Southern!!) Stopped in for breakfast during the Naperville 5K and 1/2 Marathon. There was no wait. The place is really clean and parking was okay. I had a Cappuccino. That was a bad idea. It was not good. Had no flavor. For breakfast I had the San Antonio Skillet with scrambled eggs. It was descent. The serving size was nice. The price is on the fair side. The Hostess was nice. If your in Naperville I would pass on this place and look for other options. Honest opinion I would compare this place to a IHOP but on the expensive side. read more
