    Strawberry crepe breakfast
    Jody H.

I had the strawberry crepes with eggs and bacon. My friend had some kind of egg Benedict with avocado. She said hers was good. But all I can really comment on is my strawberry crepes. They were amazingly delicious. I asked for my bacon to be crispy. Whoever was cooking that day knew exactly what that meant. Because my bacon was just the right amount of tender and crisp. I asked for my eggs over medium and they were a bit overdone. But this isn't really a complaint. Eggs can be tricky and it only takes 2 seconds if you're doing something else for it to go wrong. I myself am not a huge egg person anyways so I'm not upset. The server was nice but I did feel like she could have asked us at least if we wanted refill or something on our drinks. She did come by and ask us if it was good, or something like that? Of course I said everything was fabulous. I really also like that I could literally walk here from my work. We had gone there for lunch and there wasn't very many people in there so we were able to get served, get our food, and get out within the hour lunch break, almost exactly. The Establishment was clean and everybody was friendly. Do I recommend? Absolutely! And I will definitely be going back to try different things on the menu. It was a very interesting menu. I do wish they had boysenberry syrup, though! Lol. That's a hard thing to find these days and it's my absolute favorite on pancakes. Considering it's like a breakfast joint it's pretty upscale so I was surprised they didn't have it. I don't want to beat this horse into the ground though.. overall? I absolutely loved the food. It was delicious. And I will absolutely go back. If you're not used to Scottsdale prices, the menu prices might seem a little steep, especially if your usual breakfast joints are places like Denny's. But I guarantee the food is going to taste 5 times better. The quality will be 10 times better. For my breakfast and a drink of diet Coke, I paid $23 and some change before tip.

4 stars - good We went here for brunch on Sunday. As you can imagine, it was very busy, but we did not have to wait too long even though we had a large party. The restaurant has a diner atmosphere and is decorated with its merchandise. Our waitress forgot a couple of things, but I cannot fault her for that. Again, it was very busy the day that we went, and she was very friendly. Our food was delicious. I got the cinnamon roll pancakes, and it came with a lot of food. My order came with four large pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The pancakes were a little dry towards the end, but I enjoyed them. I will definitely go back here again when we visit family!

WILL NOT EVER RETURN everything started out fine. Walked right in and host seated us outside. But it quickly went downhill after that. There was one overworked male server covering the whole patio on a Sunday. It took him over 20 minutes to get to us to ask for drinks. By that time we were ready to order our whole meal. The food took an additional 30 minutes to come out after we ordered no big deal there. Except for the fact that when it came out, it was completely underdone. To the point where my whole family is sick right now. Honestly we should have sent it back but for what? For them to spit in our food? My husband ordered a Pepsi - and we didn't realize this until he had drank it (because you couldn't see until the glass was clear) but there was a long black hair stuck to the inside of his glass. Gross!! Uploaded a pic of that. My daughter's bacon that came with her Kids meal was underdone. All of my fish and chips (which is notated as a signature item) were horrific. Underdone. And the tartar sauce for the worst I've ever tasted. Bottom line is I don't know how this place is still running. We will never come back.

The food was great and the staff was very nice and welcoming. The location is also excellent and very convenient. The only downside was that the bathrooms could use a bit more maintenance. Overall, it was a good experience and I would come back.

    Country Biscuit Breakfast

I know when I go with the family on vacation we are going to hit a few breakfast places. Mainly because it's one of my Kiddos favorites, doesn't really matter where as long as he gets eggs, sausage hash browns and pancakes he's in business. Everyone but he and I seemed to be getting the giant German pancake including my German wife and Father in law. The food was hot and delicious, I got the country breakfast because (I'm predictable AF!) I think biscuits and gravy are a staple and a great way to know if the place is any good. My food was great, kiddo ate all of his breakfast and my German family loved the pancake. The restaurant is a newish diner in a strip mall, really clean inside no food under the table and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. Service was fast and friendly. You can tell they were paying attention as soon as we finished eating they brought the check. FIL recommended this place so no surprise it was good.

This place did not live up to 4 stars and way over priced for the food/experience. I was so bummed. The food was just okay, definitely not worth the price though. I asked for sour cream on the side because I didn't want it on my food and it was on top, ok no big deal I'll scrape it off. Our friend cannot have gluten and specifically asked for no gravy, his omelette arrived with gravy on top. When he asked the server if that was his or it was a mix up she said no it was his. He explained he ordered it with no gravy and she had it replaced but apologize or seem to care. Another person asked for refill on coffee more than twice and no refill? We never got our drinks refilled either. For a $16 meal & $4 coffee, at the very least you can refill drinks. I've served breakfast before so I understand it can be overwhelming, but to me the restaurant appeared fully staffed AND other staff maybe a host or expo brought some of our drinks to begin with. It's just rude. If you go to a restaurant you would want your drink refilled.

Neat little spot in north Scottsdale. Great dining room and yes, they have a patio. The server was attentive to our group and prompt with requests, especially for our two little ones. The food was good, I had the ranch breakfast and added gravy to my biscuit. The ranch is two eggs, hash browns, choice of meat, and a biscuit. Diner style breakfast and pretty quick in a good way. I want to go back and try the sun devil bowl. Reasonably priced which makes it worth the wait if you're headed to cave creek/carefree and worth the slight detour if you are taking the 101 around Scottsdale.

Looking for a place that has chill vibes and will fill your stomach? Well look no further! Egg N' Joe has a great breakfast/lunch/brunch menu. We mostly chose this place for breakfast but don't forget to look at the lunch menu! When you first walk in it's bright and inviting and has a modern feel to the decor. It was clean but had hints of farm inspiration. We sat inside but they had a good size patio with misters. Also of our food came out around the same time which was very nice. I personally got the German pancake combo. The pancake had a slight crunch on the outer rim and then soft and cake in the middle. I got berries and I smoothed them in syrup and they were delightful! Service was a little slow but all in all she was great! Very nice and got our orders correct. I can't wait to go back and try more things!

Always a great experience at this place! Lots of love to the PNW on the menu! Every staff we interacted with from entry to exit were very friendly! Alyssa was our server today and was awesome! I personally enjoyed her term of endearment, lovie, she used when serving us. It's a small diner style restaurant serving breakfast & lunch. I have tried the mimosas before (yumm) but not on this visit. My favorite thing is adding "The Works" to their hashbrowns...it adds bacon, cheese, and a dollop of sour cream....a MUST!

My fiancé, his mom and I came to Egg n Joe after Pat's run. It was the perfect place on the way home and we wanted a hearty meal and boy did we get that. My fiancé's mom and I ordered the sun Devil skillet which had chorizo, eggs your way, avocado, beans and corn, and some hash browns. The bowl was huge and came with a delicious biscuit on the side. It ended up being two meals for both of us! My fiancé ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and he loved his meal. Finished all the pancakes and said that he thought they were better than butters!! All in all, would definitely come back to try something different!

Came here for brunch and mimosas! This place did not disappoint. Everything we tried was amazing. We will definitely be coming back!

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

We have yet to have one bad dish. The chicken mole is different from our first visit. It's a grilled chicken instead of crispy chicken, which we liked more. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the perfect patron margarita, tasted and looked like straight lemon juice. Service makes or breaks the dining experience. Tatiana was amazing. She recommended her favorite dishes and explained the menu in depth, something we wished for on our first visit because the menu is huge. SumoMaya Updated Yelp Review: 2.0/5…read more This one pains me to write. The last time I dined at SumoMaya was about 10 years ago and at that time I gave it a 5/5-star experience. I remembered it as a vibrant, trendy, elevated dining destination with great food and a fun atmosphere. So when I decided to bring my mom (who had never been) to try their Arizona Restaurant Week menu, I was genuinely excited. Unfortunately... much has changed. Let me start with the positives because there were a few. The inside ambiance is still fantastic. SumoMaya absolutely nails the vibe. Modern, sexy, upscale energy with a lively crowd, gorgeous interior design, and a house DJ spinning deep house that honestly may have been the highlight of the night. If you're looking for a place to grab cocktails, enjoy music, and soak in a cool atmosphere? Sure. For that alone, they still have something going for them. Also, our server was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and professional. Now...the food. We arrived around 7:30 PM and didn't leave until roughly 9:30 PM, which felt excessive considering we were doing a fixed Restaurant Week menu. While our server was great, the kitchen/food pacing was painfully slow. The Breakdown: Maya Roll - 4/5 The clear winner of the night. Fresh, flavorful, well-balanced, and honestly the only dish that reminded me why SumoMaya used to have the reputation it did. Pad Thai Pork "Al Pastor" - 1/5 This was rough. The noodles were noticeably overcooked, the flavor was bland, and overall it felt confused conceptually and poorly executed. Definitely not a dish I'd ever order again. Chilean Sea Bass w/ Miso Glaze - complicated . This dish deserves its own courtroom trial. The first sea bass plates came out undercooked to the point where the fish practically looked ready to swim away. Let's be clear: Chilean sea bass is not sushi. Serving undercooked fish in this context is not just disappointing -- it's a legitimate food safety concern. That initial version? 0/10. Once corrected, the bigger issue became the miso glaze, which was aggressively overpowering. To the point where both my mom and I felt a bit queasy after a few bites. Without lime? 1/5. With lime squeezed over it to cut through the miso overload? 3/5. Even then, it was just... mediocre. I've had far better Chilean sea bass elsewhere -- buttery, delicate, flaky perfection. This wasn't that. Given the glowing reviews I had read about this dish, this was one of the bigger disappointments of the night. Mexican Street Corn - 0/5 As a side, we were served the Mexican Street Corn, and unfortunately this was another major miss. I love Mexican street corn and have ordered it at countless restaurants throughout Arizona, so I was excited to try SumoMaya's version. Sadly, this wasn't even remotely close to what I'd expect from authentic or well-executed street corn. My mom, who is a chef, immediately commented that it tasted like canned corn, and honestly, I had to agree. There was very little of the bold flavor profile that makes Mexican street corn so addictive. The cotija, lime, spice, and cream elements that should make the dish pop were either absent or completely overwhelmed by the watery dish itself. 0/5 stars. In fact, this may have been the worst Mexican street corn I've ever had at a restaurant. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially considering how many excellent versions of this dish can be found throughout the Valley. Bread Pudding - 0/5 I don't say this lightly: possibly the worst bread pudding I've ever had. Dry. Hard. Portions of the bread tasted borderline burnt. Instead of warm, decadent comfort-food dessert vibes, it felt like chewing on a stale kitchen experiment gone wrong. Final Verdict: This is where it gets tough. If we hadn't been dining on the Restaurant Week prix fixe, I honestly would have felt severely swindled, because the standard menu pricing here is not cheap -- and based on the quality of what came out of the kitchen, I simply don't see the value. The only reason this review gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because: Great ambiance Awesome house music / deep house DJ Excellent server One good sushi roll But based purely on food quality? This was deeply disappointing. I genuinely hate saying this because I remembered SumoMaya so fondly, but I will be shocked if this restaurant maintains longevity if this is the level of food consistently leaving the kitchen. Would I come back? Maybe for drinks, ambiance, and the music. Definitely not for dinner.

We started with several appetizers, including the carpaccio, Japanese milk bread, dumplings, and hamachi. Every single dish was memorable and something I'd gladly order again. The Japanese milk bread lived up to its reputation, and the hamachi was especially fresh and flavorful. For our entrees, we ordered the roasted chicken, surf and turf, and a side of Brussels sprouts.
