Just moved back to the area & wanted to try something new. I saw the lack of stars & very lil reviews but still wanted to give this place a shot. I walked in & the women working were extremely nice. I sampled a couple of things to help decide what to get. Everything seemed to taste pretty good. Once my bf & I sat down to start eating our "combo B" half rice, half chow mein w/two sides, we realized how mediocre it was. I love this place. My boyfriend and I usually stop by on the weekend for takeout. Always very fast service and the workers are nice. The portions are big and it's very affordable. Good food and overall great customer service! I came in for the first time today craving some Thai Iced Tea but ended up having lunch there. The lady is genuinely super sweet!At first I thought maybe because I am pregnant but as I sat there eating my lunch I realized that she greeted everyone with the same way, whether it be the regular or walk-ins. Tiny hole in the wall Chinese fast food dive serving about eight dishes. Mushroom chicken, s&s pork, green beens and chicken, broccoli beef, etc. It all looked ok and the ladies behind the counter were all smiles and pleasantries. I ordered an orange bang in JQ's honor and sat down to eat. My bright red s&s pork was marinated and not too fatty, not sweet enough, and very blah. Mushroom chicken was just sad. The worst part was that the food was tepid in temperature and I had to ask them to nuke it. The lady took it into the back even though there was a microwave up front. Then there was some yelling from the kitchen. A very long five minutes later and my food was brought back out with smiles and apologies, steaming away. I was praying that the nuclear fusion had killed any harmful bacteria. So far so good. One star for being next to T & A Fish Market, one star for friendliness. Three stars off for wasting my time. Tried this place out on the recommendation of someone leading a work-related training nearby. She said she went to high school in the area and Egg Roll King was her favorite place to eat with friends back in the day. Yes, the portions are huge. Yes, the staff is very nice. Yes, there is a good variety of items to choose from. Yes, the prices are low. Yes, even the food laid out looks yummy. But the actual taste and quality were either meh or less-than-meh. And between my friend and I, we tried out several items including soup (noodle soup and wonton soup are offered) that are not on the menu but still available if you ask for it. Seeing how the people who work here are Asian, I was expecting better-tasting or even semi-authentic Chinese food from them. But given how nice those ladies were, I wish Egg Roll King all the best! read more

Waba Grill (next door) was close for some reason so I decided to eat at Egg Roll King. The food was okay but my $6 meal turned into a $10 meal. If you eat here, pay with cash! The lady at the register said they accepted debit card but there would be an $1 extra charge. I was okay with that. Turns out that they charged my card $11 then gave me $3.50 cash back. I checked my bank statement today, and my bank charged another $2.50 for a non-network ATM fee. My bank reversed the fee but this seems illegal if not shady. Save yourself the headache and eat somewhere else...unless you have cash or money to throw away! read more

my favorite local fast casual chinese spot! they are known for the egg rolls and it's because they are SO GOOD! as far as food, i usually get the chow mein and orange chicken combo with a side of egg rolls, but i mostly frequent for their delicious thai tea! the workers here are so friendly and they always remember my usual order which is great customer service in my book! they recently got remodeled and it looks so beautiful! definitely a great place for families, friends, and quick take out! read more

Rainy rainy cold windy day. Bridget girl is getting her bath at Woof and I'm killing time by laundering her bed at the Heavenly laundromat and am HUNGRY!!! Chinese sounds really good right now and is right next door. I walk in and check out all the offerings. Fried rice, noodles, beef brocoli, sweet n sour, shrimp, chicken with mushrooms and a few other offerings. I go for the 2 item lunch special. She asks, "half half?" "Sure!" So I get half fried rice and half noodles and she keeps piling and piling and piling it on!! There is no way I'm going to even eat 1/4 of this! And now for the 2 items.... I choose the chicken because the mushrooms look amazing and the shrimp because it's not beef or chicken or fried. She throws in 2 egg rolls and I get a sprite. For like $7 it's a pretty good deal. I think I could have fed 4 people with all this food! I picked on it while I did the Bulldog's laundry and it stayed super hot! I love that! I think that is one secret of piling it on, it stays hot! The mushrooms WERE amazing and the shrimp was good, not fishy or soft, it even had some of that krab in it, not my fav. I obviously didn't eat it all and it wasn't going to make it through the laundry session and the drive back downtown. So with my Chinese craving handled, I handed it off to a less fortunate and felt full and pleased to share. Thank you Egg Roll King. p.s. the eggroll was ok. Quality/Quantity/Options: Just a half step up from Panda Express in terms of quality, which is fine, it is Chinese fast food. PE doesn't really have good veggie options, which led me to try somewhere else. This place has no veggie options other than the rice, chow mien, and veggie egg rolls. Pretty good portions, just a tad less than PE. I was hoping for better based on other comments saying "big portions, good food!" But not at all what I, or my friend, got, and we were there at lunch time, which should usually mean it's pretty fresh. Location/Service: Tiny place, only 3 tables, but very clean. The ladies were nice. Payment: You can pay with card but they will charge you a whole fricken' dollar, this isn't even because of a minimum payment, there is actually a fee of a dollar to use a card. So that basically means it's a cash only place for me... Overall I walked away thinking, "Meh... I'd rather spend that $5 at El Tapatio Mexican food down the street on Glendale Ave." Tapatio is good, it's fresh, it's fast, and I love the staff. Cash only but cheap and worth it. read more

I have been coming to this place since I was a teenager.. I found out today that they stop making my favorite egg foo yong. To me their egg for young was better than any of these other Chinese restaurants around. So that was a little disappointing. Other than that the food is great and you will not be disappointed. If you're in the mood for cheap Chinese food this is the place to go. I got three things for under $6 dollars. Their portions are VERY large, and the food is decent. The staff are very nice as well. My only complaints would be a) Their BBQ pork wasn't very good. I'm not a picky eater but their BBQ pork lacked flavor, and was watery. I usually love the cheap Chinese BBQ pork but I highly recommend they change their recipe. It tasted like a runny sweet n sour pork then a BBQ pork. b) They don't accept credit cards. It is super affordable and they really pack your plate with food. The ladies that work there are super sweet and work quickly. I was very happy with the food and the price! This spot was found in the plaza off san fernando & fletcher full ofstores and restaurants with a busy parking lot. I was in the area in the mood for Chinese fast food. I didn't yelp any of it's previews and just walked in. Place was clean and with a line to the door I thought this must be the go to place for good and fast service. I got the combo A with a mix of chow mein and rice with the pork $1. Xtra & of course the egg rolls. The C.mein noodles were a bit big and took up most of the half a bit dry and the rice was good but also needed more than a dash of soy sauce to get it moist. The pork was actually great as is with tender meat and a sauce that I should of asked to put over the whole plate. I tried both chicken and veg. Roll and hands down the veggie roll was better. But nothing new to a regular roll you could find elsewhere. So this plate was take out of course and had my chance at it when i got home about 5 blocks away, to my surprise i had to warm it back up due to the first bite the food had become a bit cold for my taste. So overall one of those places i hate to admit you say to yourself you get what you paid for. But to each their own enjoy. read more

Ugh gross- take your money to Wong's Wok - that place actually tastes delicious! This rice felt like the rehydrated rice I take with me when I go camping (we carry dehydrated foods to save on weight). They I went to the register to pay and she ran my $6.75 meal as $21.00 ATM machine purchase. So I got my $13.25 change back. I received the 1.00 service fee charge from the restaurant as well as an out of chain bank ATM fee (at my bank is $3.00) For an extra $4.00 I could have went to Burger King and ate again. CAUTION THERE IS NO DEBIT CARD transactions here it is an ATM Charge and you probably will result in extra bank charges. IF you Eat here which I will not ever do again PAY CASH. read more

I love coming here, because the food is delicious. On Tuesday & Thursday they have a special combo plate for only $6.99. You get a Combo B (2 Items), Med Fountain Drink, & FREE Egg Rolls. Way cheaper than Panda Express. A combo w/ 2 items at Panda Express is about 8 bucks not including tax and their portions is about half of the amount Egg Roll King gives. So last night as I am on my way home off work I decide to stop by this Chinese food place eggroll king and I proceed to order a one item combo with fried rice and orange chicken I pay and then I sit down to enjoy my meal. I live nearby and I've had it before and it's OK and it's fast so that's why I thought I would go. So then I start eating my rice and it's very bland so I add some hot sauce to it and as I am finishing up the chicken I notice it's really like crunchy bony and there is this like hard piece that actually makes a sound as I bite into it. So I don't even finish half my rice , but the chicken piece I leave. And it leaves a weird taste in my mouth so I decide to get up and throw my food away. And then I get home and relax shower and get ready for bed. And I wake up around two in the morning, And I have a stomachache. So I try to will myself to go back to sleep about 20 minutes later. And then I wake up in the morning really groggy and I do sleep in but I have this lower stomach pain all day, and I'm writing you right now from the restroom. Because the food got me sick and I've been on the toilet and I've had a bad stomachache all day I've been holding down liquids but I have no eager to eat. So I'm never going back again and I would hope that customers read this before they decide to eat at that establishment because it made me sick all day! read more

I ordered a combo, I didn't finish the orange chicken because of how bad it tasted. The chow mein and fried rice was not too bad. My main issue with this place is how shady they are when they say they accept card. I was told they accept credit cards but of course with a fee. I think it was $2, that was fine. What they did not tell me is that they charge it as an ATM withdrawl, they withdrawed $10, they gave me the rest of the change in cash. So it cost me nearly $5 to use my card because of the out of network ATM fee when I was under the impression that I was just getting charged for the processing fee. The only reason why I rated them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they serve horchata, I mean where else can you get Horchata with your chinese food? Only in LA. read more
