The server said it's made with vanilla ice cream, and it was very good. Like a shake but with espresso. The Porky Bao was super soft! And a fav of mine. We also ordered Banana Pancakes and used the toasted sweet peanuts as some type of garnish for the pancake, SOOO GOOD! The omelettes were good but I wish I tried a Benedict. Food was absolutely delicious. The chicken pesto came with a salad and was a really big portion size. I then had a macadamia nut pancake which was the perfect flavor - not too sweet and was very donut like in texture. My sister's pork belly bowl had a really amazing flavor as well. It's only been a month since we last got brunch from Egghead, but I have been wanting to come back for a while! We got takeout from Egghead this past weekend and it was once again superb! I called in our order at around 10:30am and was told it would take around 20-25 minutes. They asked for my number and 15 minutes later, I got a text saying our food was ready! I got the Popeye omelette again because it was so good last time. There was less hollandaise on it this time but the omelette itself was bigger. Same level of deliciousness. Per the recommendation of Yelp Community Ambassador Lindsey M., I also went for the La-La Berry French toast, which came with fresh strawberries & blueberries, berry compote, almonds, and whipped cream. I usually prefer savory over sweet for breakfast/brunch but this is something I would totally order again! The French toast was so light and fluffy, and I loved how the berry compote was not too sweet. They gave a generous portion of the compote so I was able to save some for use with other desserts. Been there before and enjoyed the many different types of items offered so decided to go again and they really on on the ball no one enters you wait outside until they come to get you and fill out forms and temperature check then sanitize your hands before they seat you. Tried the egg and tomato sandwich, also ordered the 3 mini pancake and side order of bacon. Also coffee, ice coffee Enjoyed the egg sandwich which was big enough to share, the trio mini pancakes was 1 blueberries, 1 haupia, tiramisu House brew coffee was great, ice coffee, macadamia nut ice coffee was good. Our waiter was very friendly and informative! Lots of parking normally hard to find parking because they share the parking with a lot of other business. I was really excited to learn that Egghead Cafe relocated at a bigger space with lots of parking at the Kapalama Shopping Center. I've dined in a few times when they were still at their Kakaako location and always wished then that they get to a space like the one they have now. My friends and I decided to have brunch on a Sunday and got to the location at 11am. There's plenty of parking, however, it does get busy as the complex is shared with other restaurants and businesses. We did expect a line of people waiting since this restaurant is known for their food offerings. This place is only walk-ins, no reservations. There is a small "take out" area on the right side of the restaurant where there were few tables and chairs and can order coffee while waiting. That area was packed too so we actually waited outside for an hour until we got to relax inside the restaurant with AC. No joke... we waited close to 2 hours as we got seated at around 12:45pm. There were 3 of us, and it was our other friend's first time here. We decided to order items that we would all like and share it so everyone can try. We ordered the Smoke Salmon Toast, Crab Benedict and Crab Omelette. The crab and salmon used were fresh, the food made fresh and plated nicely. Prices were not steep too. Service could be elevated in my opinion, especially that day when the wait was long. There's really not a lot of option to walk around and kill time around the area, other than probably choose to dine in somewhere else. One experience that stuck with me was when I asked our server if it's possible to cut my toast in half - the response that I received was "Our kitchen does not have time for that request"... Hmmmm... But we waited almost 2 hours? A menu to review while waiting, complimentary water, and even chairs could help improve the customers' experience. A better response to my very simple request could very much help too. Don't get me wrong, I love their food, the restaurant's ambiance and the ample parking available. I am giving the benefit of the doubt that I may have gone on an off day. Breakfast in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friends and I have been to the former Queen Street location of Egghead with its limited parking situation. We looked forward to this new Kalihi location which used to be Violet's Grill. The parking lot at Kapalama Center on Dillingham Boulevard is shared with businesses such as Zippy's, Elvin's Bakery, and Wingstop. We met at 7:30am on a holiday to avoid the crowd. We entered our name on the clipboard and the number of people in our party. We were seated promptly at the longest table with two benches and a chair at both ends. I ordered the Crab Benedict which I had read about. It truly is real crab as evidenced by tiny bits of shell (more calcium). The sauce was tasty; the bread was toasted; the side of fresh greens had a delicious dressing; and the eggs were cooked perfectly. It's quite noisy inside, so I felt like I was yelling at my tablemates. I just wanted to leave and get some peace... lol! I do appreciate the convenient restroom and great service! I believe that we shall return! read more

#15 for 2020 Getting an invite to hook with other yeeps is exciting. I've gotten up early for these breakfast gathering before. When I was younger. Now, these bones are up early but hard to move. I got there about 7:20am, 10 minutes early. Half the group was there. Guess I'm not as old as I thought. Located in the Kapalama Shopping Center next to Magnolia, there is parking but you may need to be patient. With many other popular eats there like Zippy's and Ahi, it will be difficult during peak hours. Getting there early gave me no problem. I had been to the previous location in Kaka'ako. The overall experience then was not memorable. Reading the reviews for this location seemed to have turned around. That's what convinced me to attend. We were a party of 10 sitting on a long bench. Service was a bit spotty. Not sure if they still need to work out the kinks but we were a large party and it was filling fast. I was asked what I wanted to drink Decaf with cream and sugar. When it was brought out I was pleased to see a large cup. Larger than everyone else who ordered coffee. I guess that's how they can differentiate the decaf from the rest. Smart move. I'm not that really big on benedicts but I when I do it's going to be crab. It has to be fresh, not out of the can. Blue preferred else I will have to think about it. I saw it on the menu. Now it's no brainer. It came out nice. The bread was slightly toasted and buttered to lure more of the sweetness out but inside was soft and fresh. The salad, with a vinaigrette dressing, paired well with the entry. Very fresh greens still had a crispy crunch. I could taste the crab, sweet which what blue crab is known for. Growing up in Norfolk, Va gave me that experience. The poached egg looked like it was done right. The real test comes when you poke and watch the yolk run. How fast is it going? Not too quick which is how I like it. If I can keep that yolk on the bread and not get on the plate that saves me the trouble to wiping it up. One other dish that was really interesting was the smoked salmon. When that was brought out the smell was smothering my nostrils. The presentation on that was divine. And, it looked nom nom tasty too. That is something I will have to come back for. Overall this was a wonderful experience. I can come back again. Hopefully some of the other kinks can be worked out of their service for an even better experience. Still had a great time seeing everyone doing what we like to do. Having good eats. read more

Sad to say that we've not ever been to Egghead Café when it was located in Kaka'ako but when Aunty Nadine texted us Breakfast Club "members" to try Egghead Café's newest location in the Kapālama Shopping Center on Presidents Day, we immediately confirmed our spots. A group of 9 friends got together for a 7:30am breakfast at this new location on Presidents Day. When we arrived to Egghead Café at 7am, we expected a crowded restaurant being that it was a holiday and was about to sign in on Egghead Café's sign-in sheet. Luckily, we saw Allen N who had already snagged a large community table fronting their "Let's Aloha Egghead" wall mural. As we walked in, I felt a familiarity in this restaurant space as it became evident to me that it once housed the former Violet's Grill. But, Egghead replaced the rundown local restaurant with an open urban tropical-inspired dining area on one side of the space and an espresso bar/take out counter on the other side. We had 2 attentive servers "working" our table. One person took our beverage orders while the other frequently came by to refill our coffee mugs with their delicious hot coffee blend. I might point out that the coffee mugs were not only cute but maintained the coffee at optimal temperature. I chuckled to myself as I tried 3 times to get a photo of the sunny side up egg design inside the mug but before I could stop the server, he filled up my mug. Ahh, that's what I get for being slow on the draw with my smartphone but I was enjoying the fun conversations among the group. Everyone ordered different menu items and found them to all be well-prepared, served in a timely manner and flavorful. FOOD: -2 Eggy-Brekky: this breakfast included ONE choice of avocado, bacon, Portuguese sausage, chorizo OR pork links and TWO sides of country bread, wheat bread, white rice or green salad. My husband chose 2 over easy eggs, Portuguese sausage, country bread and white rice. Eh, he eats simple breakfasts and claimed that he was filled with this flavorful combination. $11 -California Love Omelette: folded into this fluffy omelette was crisp bacon strips, avocado chunks, onion, bell peppers and cheddar. The omelette was topped with mild salsa which gave this creamy/mild omelette a somewhat acidic (in a good way) spiciness. As a side, I chose the country bread which was nicely toasted. This omelette was tasty and very filling for me as I could only eat 3/4 of it and gave the rest to my husband. $13 We'd order our same menu choices again but really, we should try their other menu items here as we believe they'd be equally good! read more

I used to be a morning person but with a busy work schedule, I find myself somewhat sleep deprived. So when a bunch of fellow Yeeps scheduled a brekkie at the new location of Egghead Café (EC) at Kapalama Shopping Center, I was hesitant. It was President's Day so I had the day off from work which allows me to sleep in. But we were to meet at 730am. Ouch... I woke up to my alarm clock and made my way to EC where most of my friends were already seated as I arrived just before 730am. As I walked in, I was really impressed with the layout and modern chic décor. I immediately spotted my party, where we were seated on their communal table for our party of 10. Shortly after greeting my friends with hugs and handshakes, our server came to take my drink order. I ordered the house brew which was a decent cup of coffee. Immediately I noticed one of my friends had a different coffee cup from the others and later found out he had decaffeinated. So clever. Servers would know what to refill without asking. I did my due diligence prior to this outing and decided on the smoked salmon toast with sweet potato fries. Most of my dining mates ordered eggs benedict, which I also enjoy immensely. But I stood firm with my selection and prevented myself from changing my mind. I had a good time conversing with my Yeeps while waiting for our food. We had an out-of-town visitor from Oakland. It was nice chatting with him as my mom's side of the family lives there. It was nostalgic to recall the memories of my uncle dragging me to Oakland Chinatown for good eats. It didn't seem like a long time before we got our food. I'll admit that the eggs benedict looked really good but many of us noticed the eggs used were considerably a much smaller size. Some made some jokes about the small eggs and one commented "XL quail egg." I was delighted my friend let me sample her crab eggs benedict because I would have ordered this had I changed my mind. The overall flavor was palatable but I wasn't a fan of their eggy crab cake. I don't see myself eating a full order. I was very pleased with my selection of smoked salmon toast. Not only was it visually stimulating, it was super tasty. There was a generous serving of smoked salmon that sat on some greens, tomatoes on a slice of toasted bread. The dill caper cream cheese was so yummy. The fresh dill made this dish pop and kinda wished I had a little more on the side to eat with the generous serving of smoked salmon. The sweet potato fries were also yummy but was looking for something to dunk them in. I wasn't in a ketchup mood but probably would have paired well with the basil aioli that was drizzled on top of the toast. Service was okay but choppy. Our waitress came often to our table to refill our coffee mugs and water cups but at times we felt neglected. 2 friends who ordered omelets had to wait a looong time before their food came out. My friend across me had toast with his meal but no butter to be found. He had to ask the waitress for butter. Also, our out-of-town guest was kind enough to surprise us with some Kam Bakery poi donuts. We looked around the restaurant and couldn't locate "no outside food allowed" sign but to play it safe we asked our waitress if we could munch on them as we pretty much finished our breakfast. Not sure if she forgot or the management couldn't come to an immediate conclusion but after many, many minutes later, she came back informing us no outside food allowed. Parking is a plus with many stalls that are shared with popular businesses of Zippy's, Wingstop, Elvin's Bakery, Ahi and Vegetable and Magnolia's. But come late and be punished because during peak times you may have to circle around and around trying to find an empty stall. Overall, a great venue for breakfast, brunch and lunch at reasonable prices. EC is a great addition to the Kalihi area. NOTES: 1) Major credit cards accepted. 2) While ordering our food, I looked up and noticed people were already standing outside waiting for a table. Go early. They open at 7am. On a non eventful Saturday, 7-8:30am is a good, no line, time. From 9am on, be prepared to hang out, outside, in the morning sun. Simply fabulous! What more can I say? From parking to paying the bill, simply fabulous. I tried to have breakfast at the old Kaka'ako location one day a ways back, only to find they had closed. The other day I was asked to have breakfast at another restaurant close by, but I vowed never to go there again. I suggested Egghead Cafe because it was across the street. Not a single regret or negative thought for changing venue. Parking is abundant and free in a private lot. Hand sanitizer is readily available just inside the dining room entrance. Decor is very rustic and homey. Mix & match chairs adorn the dining tables. Dining room is very clean and without funky odors. Acoustics are very good inside, so you can carry on a conversation without straining to hear or shout. Food did not take long to be served, at least I did not notice a lengthy wait. Waiter checked on us a number of times and was extremely pleasant. On to the food. Oh yes, the food, glorious food. Ahhh... Iced tea served in a mason jar with a eco paper straw which held up through the end of the meal. Green Onion Pancake....ok, think outside the box, gang. It's not a pancake pancake, like one that lilikoi or maple syrup is served with. It is more of an Asian type pancake, crispy and a bit gummy. They fry it up crisp and round, add an over hard egg and some fresh basil, roll it up like a burrito, slice it, add a sauce, sorry don't know what kind, and bring it to you. It's magical. Pork Belly Benedict. If you are a purist, then this doesn't sound quite right, for breakfast. You couldn't be more wrong. The pork is braised with five spice and is fork tender. It's so soft, that you may have trouble distinguishing meat from fat pockets. No matter, it's all SO GOOD! French bread was used as the base and was oh so heavenly. It was so fresh and soft on the inside while maintaining the crispness of being grilled on the outside. *sigh* I'm not going to talk about the poached egg because everyone has different tastes. I love hollandaise sauce, and would have it on everything, if I could. I would order an extra scoop with this dish, as I don't feel it was enough. Tasty, but not enough Bennies were served with a spring mix and a vinaigrette dressing I want to buy by the vat. I don't do salad for breakfast but this pulled the whole dish together. As soon as we landed in Oahu, I found this place while waiting for our car rental. My GF love eggs benedict, especially if its different versions. We arrived around 11:45 put our name on list and seated around 15 minutes later. This place closes at 1pm, so make sure you get there on time! Upon seating, Tatiana took care of us, she was great from start to finish. I over ordered, as usual...well not really. We shared the crab benny and the the pork belly as well as the pancake mini trio (BEWARE! it was not mini at all!) I choose Tiramisu, Hawaiian and Macadamia. My favorite was mac nut followed by Hawaiian, yum! I wasn't a fan of the Tiramisu, a bit tooo sweet. crab benny and pork belly are both must haves! interesting change, this is not topped on english muffin, the bennys were with a very soft and warm sliced baguette. If you're like me and have weekend sports drop off duty be sure to stop at Egghead cafe on Dillingham Boulevard located in the Kapalama Shopping Center. The last time I had the chance to eat here was when they were still located near ward. So happy to see that they were still around. Even though their computer system was down they were still able to seat me quickly. It took them a while to come around and get my order but the food was delicious and the lavender latte yummy. Next time I will probably order the lavender latte without the decorative herbs on top because it made it very difficult to get a good sip in without getting some of lavender seeds in my mouth, which did not taste great. I'll probably try something else more savory on the menu next time because everything looked good and there just wasn't enough time. read more

MY HEART IS SO HAPPY! You have no idea how long I've been waiting for them to come back to town (3 years...) and I wasn't the only one awaiting their arrival. When I came on President's Day, the wait was an hour! Note to self: Arrive before 9 AM or you'll get very hangry by 10 AM. The place is a lot bigger compared to the previous location and there's definitely a lot more parking! They give pagers for when you wait so you can wander around or wait in your car because they don't have chairs outside. They also sell shirts and mugs now if you want some cute souvenirs Because we had an hour to kill, we knew exactly what we wanted to eat and ordered as soon as we sat down. And I'm happy to say that everything did not disappoint! My parents normally don't care for American/breakfast places but they really enjoyed the food here! Especially because they had some Asian options like their Pork Chop Plate and Green Onion Pancakes. It was Taiwanese style and perfect for their taste buds. I definitely recommend trying out their Green Onion Pancakes; great for sharing and a yummy appetizer. I got the Smoked Salmon Toast w/ Avocado and Waffle Fries and it hit all the right spots! One of the main reasons why I love Egghead was because of their Waffle Fries and I'm so glad they still offer it. We went on a Sunday morning around 10 and the place was packed. The waitlist was a page long. Egghead Cafe is separated into two sections. The take out/coffee bar is on the right. The dine in restaurant is on the left. The hubby and I didn't want to wait an hour, so we ordered take out and ate it on the take out side. Everyone sitting on those tables were doing that. I guess they didn't want to wait either. You order from the cashier. They call your name when the food is ready and you pick it up at the counter. My hubby is the sweets person and I'm the savory person. When it comes to food we are polar opposites. He ordered the choco creme brûlée french toast with a side of scrambled egg. I got the crab benedict with a side of sweet potato fries. I also got a large hot chai latte. I'm happy to report that they use real crab in their benedict and not imitation crab. The cashier was honest and told me it was made from a frozen crab cake, but it was real crab. The eggs were perfectly runny and the hollandaise sauce was spot on. They also drizzled some other sauce on it that gave it a little spicy kick. It also came with a green salad with a fruity vinaigrette dressing. This was very good. I tried the choco creme brûlée french toast. It was tasty, but I'm not into sweets like that. The sweet potato fries were crispy and the chai latte was yummy. Service was nonexistent since it was take out and not dine in. They have a jar of complimentary lemon water that you can help yourself to. read more

YAY fellow Eggheads! Egghead Cafe has finally opened in Kapalama shopping center. They are open daily from 7am to 2pm, but I hear the line is out the door on the weekends. We lucked out with not much of a wait on a Friday afternoon. I can never pass up an eggs benedict so I opted for their pork belly. The entire menu is mouth watering so I can't wait to return to have their famous pancakes again. They also have a cafe connected to the restaurant if you just need a coffee fix. read more

Great place for breakfast with yummy food, friendly staff, and ample parking. We ordered the pork belly bowl, French toast, and chocolate chip pancakes and everyone was happy with their food. Our server, I think her name was Mel, was wonderful. She was so sweet with our kids and made lots of food recommendations. They also have dedicated kids cups which I can truly appreciate. Will definitely come back to try more food. read more

Winner Salmon eggs Benedict brunch! Me and my hubby had brunch her recently for a lunch date! It was nice I was really happy with the. Service and the atmosphere. I landed on the salmon eggs Benedict it was pretty good. A little rich but good. We also did a flight of pancakes the best was the strawberry. Parking was not awful but I can see how this place can get crowded on the weekends I would plan accordingly. read more
