Out in Fort Bragg, there aren't as many choices to dine as what I'm used to in the Bay. That's to be expected considering it is a smaller area with a hometown feel rather than the hustle and bustle of the city. I'm a regular at Fort Bragg as I look forward to the getaways and the quiet ocean breeze. I normally take advantage of the mediocre hotel breakfasts wherever I stay. Instead, we decided to check out eggheads yesterday. 5 of us waited approx 5 minutes for a booth. Score. Keep in mind...this place is tiny! With a wizard of oz feel, if you need to use the restroom, follow the yellow brick road and turn left until you get to the emerald city. Seriously, that's what the staff will tell you. Haha. Might I also add, the bathroom was super clean...the little things that matter. We ended up ordering a number of dishes. I picked up the corned beef served with toast, potatoes, and eggs. I appreciated the homemade feel of the corned beef...probably the best dish on the table. Serving sizes were large. Other dishes? Pancakes: not so great. I hate to say this...but they tasted like cardboard. Sigh. Crab omelette: pretty good stuff. Nice serving of crab with what tasted like a lemon hollandaise. Not bad at all. Bacon: cooked medium well. Not too crispy, not too soft. Nothing to write home about. Prices? Ridiculously high. 5 people = $90. Service? Fantastic. She was on it and refilled coffees before they every reached the bottom. We had an incredible breakfast experience here as far as delicious food goes, but it's definitely not a good choice if you're in even a small hurry. We didn't have to be anywhere by any certain time, but didn't want to spend an hour indoors on such a beautiful weekend day. Seated fairly quickly and I ordered eggs Benedict with the most amazing champagne hollandaise sauce ever, and food came out semi quick to our table of 4, but once our dishes were licked clean and cleared from the table I had to ask for the check, taking my card with me for faster payment. After an unreasonable amount of time I went up and had to ask for my credit card back so I could sign and leave. Food was good and service was friendly, but very slow. Excellent and perfect breakfast this morning. We ordered 2 Lion Mighty one with bacon and one with sausage. Due to the SiP it was to go and took 35 mins. They had the timing down perfect, walked in 35 mins later it was just coming out of the kitchen. Took our breakfast back to our motel. Potatoes seasoned just right, salty and flavorful. Sausage and bacon equally great. Portions perfect, we were both full and satisfied. We hope to visit Fort Bragg again, and this will For sure be our breakfast stop. Our family of four vacationed in Fort Bragg, and we ended up finding Egghead's on our first morning in town, and we ended up returning for breakfast every morning. Everything we tried was delicious, but the French toast was a highlight for me. I'm a big French toast fan, and Egghead's is my new standard to beat. The pumpkin waffle was also delicious. A big reason we kept returning day after day was their gluten free options. My sister has a wheat allergy, and our server assured us that they are incredibly proactive to avoid cross contamination (because their sister is celiac). It was bit of a wait, but worth it! I had the eggs Benedict, which is the best I've had in a long time. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and not salty like some. The service was quick and extremely friendly. We also received a free fresh squeezed orange juice. My partner had oatmeal with fresh cut strawberries. They have compostable sugar cane plates to save on water and to be environmentally friendly. They serve breakfast and lunch. Weekends are very busy, so expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour, since it is a small place. We'll return! read more

The food here is amazing, everything is fresh and warm and didn't stay on our plates very long. The service here is also great. The staff here are very nice and very accommodating. They were very busy so there was a little bit of a wait time to be seated but no more then 15 minutes. They had taken our orders and got us our food in no time at all. They have a fun theme of The Wizard of OZ, they have posters that are signed by the actors and tons of memorabilia. They also sell sweaters and sweatshirts if that's something you like. The star is the Dungeness Crab Omelette (specifically, the #4, with bacon, avocado, and cheese...all the good stuff!) You can also get it as a crepe but I tried it as an omelette. The eggs are nice and fluffy, and all of the fillings are bountiful -- especially the crab! We opted for the potatoes for the side (rather than the salad) and it did not disappoint. Had we not tried the pumpkin waffle and garlic chicken burrito, it would still be five stars for the crab omelette alone. But it is an even stronger five stars with the other items, especially the pumpkin waffle with cream. It was the perfect consistency and it was clearly a pumpkin waffle, not a waffle with a hint of pumpkin. As of mid-June 2020 still only to go, but still excellent food and service. Was recommended online and thought we would have a quick breakfast before heading out of town. The service was great and the food came out quickly. However, we do not recommend eating here before driving back to on the 20 or the 1. The meat and food was very greasy and both of us felt very unwell the rest of the day. We were also surprised by the price as well, I think we paid $5.99 for the smallest mug of hot chocolate. I think this would be a great place to share a breakfast. Easily one of the best spots to grab breakfast in the F.B. I've been to Fort Bragg several times. I like staying there when I'm in Mendocino since it is a nice central location. And when I do stay in Fort Bragg I always have breakfast at Eggheads. This tiny restaurant reminds me of a little restaurant in Truckee, The Squeeze In. You may have to wait to get in, but it's worth it! My husband got the Eggs Benedict and I got the Crabbywich. Egghead's is a cute brunch spot that's wizard of oz themed. The breakfast fare is pretty standard brunch food with omelettes, benedicts, pancakes/waffles, etc. I wanted to try the pumpkin waffles, but apparently that day their waffle iron was out of order. Instead, they substituted with pumpkin pancakes, which were also pretty good. I think they were having a bit of an off day when we visited, because they made a few mistakes, like forgetting one of the orders we placed, and we needed to ask a few times for more water, or reminding them of certain drink orders that we placed but didn't come even after we got our food. The prices are pretty standard bay area pricing, so more on the pricey side. This establishment also uses biodegradable plates, so it doesn't have the fancy brunch feel, but more of a hole in the wall establishment. read more

They have so many Benedicts (lots of Dungeness crab options) and Omelettes and crepes and your original breakfast foods like eggs and bacon and sausage and waffles and pancakes. The hash browns were delicious. The multigrain toast they give you is so delicious. They have sandwiches and breakfast burritos too, everything under the sun. The menu was kind of overwhelming, it was so good. The server was very friendly. Have to really compliment the host though, pretty young guy, he was working so hard because the place is so busy. So we came to Eggheads on our last day of our camping trip to have breakfast with some friends. My husband and I ordered two omelettes and one iced tea. Both omelettes came with cheddar cheese and we asked if we could swap out for pepper jack cheese. We were told that there would be an up charge. I also asked for a side of salsa for my omelette. Was also told by a snippy rude waitress with long pointed nails that would also be an up charge!?! I agreed thinking, well maybe a dollar or two more (no biggie). Well we had our breakfast that was not good. The omelette was okay but the country potato's were over browned and waaaayyy too oily! The server was a snippy young girl with long pointed nails. Her attitude was not the friendliest and she needed a major attitude adjustment. Plus I've been in the restaurant industry for 30 years and nails are a no no with the health department!!! We ate out breakfast then left. My husband paid the bill and I didn't even notice till we arrived home that the bill with tip came to 70.00!!!!! We gave a 10 dollar tip on a 60 dollar bill. Our omelettes were 15.99. How can our bill be 60!!!!!?!? We were totally robbed and one should never have to pay for a swap of a cheese and a tiny plastic side of salsa!!!
