Wow Eggington's...a must awesome brunch stop! The decor is so fresh, cheery, and those booths- super comfortable! As a group of 4, we were greeted and seated right away as we entered at about 12:30pm on a weekday. We chose one of the curved booths, and thoroughly enjoyed gazing upon all the cute, simple decor. Service was prompt, friendly, and our food was delicious! Ordered was country potatoes, avocado toast with veggies on brioche, the Eggington Omelet, Belgian Waffle, and Chicken Tenders with fries. Everything was scrumptious! The waffle was cooked to perfection, crisp on the outside, and warm & soft inside. Potatoes had lovely flavor and great texture, omelet was topped with creamy hollandaise, and that avacado toast was pure heaven! There was an even distribution of bacon, eggs, and mushroom which I appreciated. It also came with a lot of potatoes that were perfectly crispy! While staying at Chumash few weeks ago with my extended family we decide to have brunch here (all 16 of us). First I wasn't sure if that will be possible cause it's really hard to accommodate and service a large party but we managed. The hostess was so nice and helpful. We told her we can have a few separate tables but she said she is able to sit us all together. Our waiter (forgot his name) was amazing. He was very patient with us and took everyone's order without any problems. Everything came out as we ordered in a timely manner. Everyone was happy with their food. While staying at the Chumash Casino and Hotel, I tried Eggington's. I'm glad I did. This place is a cute cafe. It was pretty busy but we only had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. They have a rather large menu with lots of choices. I chose the boring oatmeal. But it wasn't boring at all. It came in a fancy little bowl with raisins and banana slices. Very nice presentation. It was very good! Coffee was great! Our server was very nice and quick. It was also nice to see the manager or owner walking around and asking people how their food was. Had breakfast with my friend today at the Cafe. A clean and pleasant experience. The food was the most important aspect. Waffle was light and airy, chicken fried steak tasty, good biscuits and gravy and a terrific server. The most notable things were the eggs. We both ordered over medium and they were probably the best example of over medium either of us had ever eaten. So good! We arrived about 9am and were promptly seated. The server was attentive and we never needed to ask for extra water or coffee. The Huevos (Rancheros) Eggingtons was amazing. We split it between us and it was just the right size portion. Plenty of pork green Chile atop some of the best eggs I've had. Orange juice was delicious as well. Finally had a chance to have lunch at Eggingtons...Great Experience!! This restaurants been closed since the pandemic and a lot of people, including my mother and myself, have been waiting for it to reopen. We used to eat here all the time. We were so disappointed when this restaurant didn't reopen right away and glad that it didn't close permanently Now that it's open, we can see it's had a complete renovation. The restaurant is very nice and comfortable to dine in. They did a great job on the renovation, including renovating the entry with new decor which gives it a nice touch, you can't help but notice when you walk by. Looks very inviting. The service and food were both exceptional!! There were four in our group and no waiting for a table. Our server, Shantasta, was very professional and had a friendly persona. She greeted us with a smile and was very attentive . We had a few questions about the items on the menu and she was able to answer all of them and give us recommendations. We were able to split our meals, definitely a plus. We split the patty melt combo, which came with sweet potato fries, it was very good. A member of management came to check on our group. My mom and I stayed at Chumash Resort and ate at this great little find in the casino both days we were there. The food was very good! The seating was nice for privacy and the waitress "Mary" was phenomenal! She was so sweet, attentive and helpful. She was such definitely a pleasure to have as our waitress. The manager Noe was very nice as well. As we walked out after breakfast, we stopped to tell him how wonderful Mary was and we ended up having a great conversation with him. The employees are what make the experience nice! The food is what satisfied our appetite and the private booths are what gave us comfort. Big win for this place! We'll be back! read more

We were staying at the Chumash Casino hotel and we really wanted to try Eggingtons before checking out at 11:30 AM. We arrived 10:10 AM & we were seated promptly. Kathleen came quickly and took our order. We both ordered our favorite breakfasts. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. Eggs over easy. English Muffin toasted well but not burnt, breakfast potatoes & an iced tea. Hubby ordered traditional Eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes. Kathleen asked how he wanted his eggs poached. So cool, I thought. Who does that? Hubby said softly poached and explained that he likes his yolks runny. Kathleen came out with a carafe of coffee for hubby. I received 2 glasses of iced tea. The condiments came out quickly. We are off to a great start. Yay. And then we waited and waited and waited. I was getting nervous because we still hadn't checked out of the room yet. We received our meals 24 minutes after ordering. Kathleen asked, did we need anything else. We said, napkins and we want to try the Eggingtons bottled salsa. She said sure. She didn't come back for a little over 10 minutes. When she did, she brought the unopened salsa and left it on the table and said something like, Here it is. She abruptly left. We never received the napkins. I loved my chicken fried steak and eggs. It did lack gravy. It was as if someone thinly spread some gravy on the steak and placed the eggs on top. The english muffins are too thick and undercooked. After 1 bite, I just didn't want them. Hubby's 1st poached egg was cooked hard. Meaning the yolk was firm. There was very little Hollandaise sauce on it. To be honest, we were completely bummed. Kathleen never came back. I was prepared to come home and write a 1 star review. I hate doing that. The manager, Noe, came by and asked how our meal was. I quietly told him it was not good. He listened. He apologized. He said that the next time we come in he wants us to ask for him. He said he would remove the Eggs Benedict from our bill. He said is that OK. We said yes and thanked him. We received the adjusted check from Victoria the cashier. We still hadn't seen Kathleen so I walked over to Victoria and told her I wasn't sure how to pay my bill. She smiled and said she would take care of it. She took my credit card and players club card and I waited by the hostess station. Kathleen showed up and asked if she could take my payment. (I hadn't seen her for awhile). I told her it was being handled. She left. I am enthusiastic about returning to Eggingtons and upgrading my review from 3 stars to 5 stars! HUGE SHOUT OUT to Noe for making us feel seen and cared for! I will update this review with pictures later today. This experience occurred on 2-16-24. Disaster of a place. Avoid! They seriously need to rework their entire hosting system that took 15 minutes to sear us with a ton of extra tables - half empty restaurant at 9:30 am on a Sunday on a holiday weekend. They had more staff lingering in reception than serving tables!?! Then after being seated, we had to wait extra time for coffee to brew because they ran out. At 9:30 am on a Sunday with a half empty restaurant! So coffee took 15-20 minutes. Oh, then the outside of the coffee mugs had dirt and stains! Yuck. Meanwhile, the table across from us went unbussed almost the entire the time we were sitting down. Not the best for your "ambiance." Then food wise, the eggs Benedict was very mid at best. Little over salty, didn't love their English muffins that were a little dense. The lone bright spot was our server Alena. Wow, fantastic waitress in an otherwise total train wreck of a cafe. She clearly was working against all odds, but was super competent, nice, responsive, deftly managing multiple tables, and the best element this entire restaurant has going for it! If you're a high end place in Santa Ynez in, headhunt and steal her! That hard working of a server capable of doing that good of a job in such horrible conditions is a find. The only reason I upgraded our review to a 2 from a 1 was Alena working so hard to try to make this sinking ship of a restaurant work. I have eaten here a hand full of times and enjoyed the food except for the hours. Onto the food and service..the server took her time coming to our table and came without her order pad so we waited some more for her to get it. Now to the most disappointing part; the food! Just as with the decor, it's the same quality as it was before, only slightly better than cafeteria food. I had a fried shrimp/fries combo which was not good. The shrimp were super small and very overcooked, the coating was almost too hard to bite into and you could hardly see the shrimp,plus the "boom boom" sauce was lightly drizzled on top,it would have been much better served on the side. The fries were the best part and they were just ok. My husband had the apple cranberry salad. While quite large, the chicken was in huge chunks that had a strange flavor to them. I ordered a omelette and when it came out, it looked like Kraft American cheese was melted on top of scrambled eggs!!!! There is a big difference between an omelette and scrambled eggs.
