Rating: 3.3/5 This food truck isn't as good as their other location. We ordered the Bodega Classic ($8.99) online, and it was ready in about 5-6 minutes. I asked for no cheese, medium (spicy & sweet) sauce, and added avocado spread ($2.29). We ate the sandwich right away while it was still warm. Unfortunately, it tasted pretty plain as if there wasn't much sauce. The roll was soft, and the bacon was crispy but quite salty. I'd recommend adding cheese to all sandwiches for better flavor balance. read more

After my 5K walk through Mueller Lake park I needed some nourishment, so I decided to try Eggman for breakfast. It was in the same food truck park I had coffee earlier. I ordered an egg bowl and my table mates ordered the the basic, botego and queens with ratings across the board. The bowl potatoes was quite tasty, however, the eggs were a little runny. The cashier was efficient and helpful to suggest a bowl after I asked for a multi-grain bread. The food truck park was on and popping! I'm going to preface my review and say that I likely hold an unpopular opinion because I can see how many fans Eggman has, but it didn't hit the mark for me. I had really high expectations because a lot of New Yorkers have tried Eggman and claim it's really similar to NY-style breakfast sandwiches, and I don't doubt that! However, I think it missed the mark for me because it was just incredibly heavy and not very well balanced. The closest to a well-balanced sandwich with the available toppings/ingredients they have would be to add jalapenos because a nice kick would cut the heaviness slightly. However, I think they should add a little bit of sweetness with some more jam or maybe some acidity? The first bite was undeniably delicious, but I found that after a few bites, I didn't really want to eat any more of it. I would definitely come and try their other specialty sandwiches (perhaps the pizza one?), but the two that I tried (sausage, egg, cheese, hashbrown) were underwhelming. read more

If you want an authentic NYC bodega breakfast sandwich this is it. The roll is what makes it and they have a bakery that makes them just for Eggman and they are on point. Then, when I didn't think it could get any better, the Mueller spot opened. Closer to home and better parking. Then, as if the universe was listening to me, they moved to the new Barton Springs spot. Love this place! I have been coming for months and almost always have a 5 star experience. My only note is they're not 100% consistent so some days can be better than others. Example: the cheese is sometimes not melted at all as if they are just rushing out orders. They have also been skimping on filling their sauce cups recently. read more

Recently visited Eggman and the breakfast sandwiches were pretty good! I got the Bodega Classic with Hashbrown which brought the sandwich to about $11-12. I did not think the Medium sauce was spicy at all so will definitely try Hot next time around. It was my first time here and I asked the cashier what their favorite was, he recommended the Queens Boulevard with a hasbrown and the medium (spicy and sweet) sauce. I'm so glad I went with his suggestion. Honestly really good. Very simple design but put together so well, the bun was soft and fresh, the cheese melted perfectly, the sausage and egg were perfectly balanced together 10/10. I also got The Gourdfather (pumpkin spice) this was okay I wouldn't get it again but it was fun to try. It had an interesting flavor. Kind of hard to explain, I would almost think I was drinking tea? Really solid breakfast sandwich. Kaiser rolls are not normally my first choice for a breakfast sandwich but this place has converted me. I feel the ratio of ingredients can sometimes be off with a kaiser roll but this place has it down. What makes this a 5 though is the service. Love that they're set up in a retro airstream -- such a fun vibe. Donuts are made fresh and topped to order, and it is 100% worth the wait. They've got large and mini sizes, so we went with a few different minis so we could try multiple flavors without overdoing it (or maybe we still overdid it, no regrets ). The menu has something for everyone, even more "basic" options for those who don't want all the toppings -- which honestly feels a little sacrilegious here haha. They also have great coffee, plenty of seating, and shaded tables so you can dig in right away and actually enjoy the moment. I honestly cannot pick a favorite menu item because I loved them all!! Already counting down until I'm back in Austin so I can return.

I loved the blackberry sauce and fruit mixed in with the cream and sugar. This is one big dessert so I'm glad we shared it - honestly would be worth splitting a whole one amongst a few people unless you have a big sweet tooth! The staff were really quick with the order. There's ample seating by the truck which is probably nice for part of the year, but we were suffering on a hot summer day. I would highly recommend this spot - but keep in mind the weather as it's all outdoor and outdoor seating only.

The menu here is exciting, vibrant and you truly can't go wrong with anything you choose. My friend has joined me on multiple occasions and I can say we have tried quite a lot from here and have never been let down. Bonus points for the seasonal or weekly selects they have - some super yummy creations. While it can get super busy on the weekends and the ambiance can be a lil overstimulating ~ I'm happy to come during the week days when it's a slower and I can pull up a chair at the bar for easy, laid back dining! They also have a designated window for to go order, quick orders or call in orders. This has become my go to! Every staff member is always efficient, kind and professional. I think the service from the staff sticks out the most and the food right after - and on a consistent basis that's just hard to find these days. So hats off to Day Marker they really do make my day lol!

One of my fave breakfast items I've had in Austin (and ive had some good ones!) We also had the enchilada and Churro pancakes. That was the main challenge we had. Would have been great to serve everyone's food closer time-wise. Overall, good experience and I'd come back if staying at the hotel again.

Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. I haven't stopped raving about Sammie's since I've been there, and I cannot wait to return, recommend it, and take friends and family that visit.

From the hostess to the waiters to the manager everyone was super attentive and on top of their game. You can't go wrong with anything from the bar. I have never been a fan of Negronis but the one at Sammie's changed my life! I order them everywhere I go now searching for that Sammie's Negroni high but nothing comes close to it. So when I found out they opened a brick-and-mortar location, I knew I had to come back. I re-ordered their Killer Noodles and loved how they kept that fun food truck feel in the presentation. It felt playful, quirky, and true to their roots. Their soft shell crab curry dish was also really impressive.
