Located in a plaza neighboring Ala Moana Shopping center, Eggs n Things offers a great breakfast menu that highlights Hawaiian specialties. This was not my first visit, but this time I ordered the Panasadas, their take on a malasada pancake, defiantly get this with cinnamon! They were delicious, crunchy on the outside and doughy on the inside just like a malasada. I first heard of Eggs 'n Things while researching for a listicle on Japanese restaurants in 2019. I was surprised to learn that Eggs 'n Things actually had its beginnings in Hawaii and not Japan! So when I had the opportunity to go to Hawaii, I put Eggs 'n Things at the top of my list because I'm a sucker for soft, fluffy pancakes. I went in there thinking it would be like the Japanese soufflé pancakes but I was mistaken. Despite the pancakes being the flat kind, my trip there was very well worth it because their pancakes are damn good, as were the other dishes that we got. That first visit, I dined in at the one located by Waikiki beach after waiting in the long line under the scorching heat. When I went back to Hawaii this year, I decided to switch things up and go to this location instead. There's a big parking lot and with a much shorter line. You sign up for the queue using the self-serve kiosk, which was very convenient. I probably only waited about 10 minutes or so before I got seated. The menu was just like I remembered - full of many pancake options and lots of savory dishes that were hard to pass up. I tried to be smart this time by not getting a whole entree and pancakes to share because I did that last time and there was way too much food leftover. No, this time I went with the healthy route - ordered a fresh papaya and pancakes. Silly me. I was given half a papaya and had so much trouble trying to finish it even though it was juicy and sweet with all the seeds already removed for me. I was in a constant debate over whether I should prioritize the pancakes or the papaya. The short answer is I ended up taking half of the pancakes to go, which I surprisingly did end up finishing in my hotel room the next day! But seriously, you can't go wrong with any of the pancake choices as long as you get it topped with whipped cream and macadamia nuts and served with both coconut syrup and guava syrup on the side! Staycationing in Waikiki and went to the Ala Moana location on Piikoi when I found out The Original Pancake House on Kapiolani was closed. Hoping for a short line, we were seated immediately. This restaurant was a little over half full at around 9am. Plenty of parking as the Nijiya Market that shared the same parking lot has closed. Friendly server greeted us and took our order. Another server brought out our dishes which were presented nicely. The portions were large and very reasonably priced considering their size. Strawberry crepes, omelet special for the day with a side of pancakes, and 2-egg breakfast with choice of meat were all very good. The pancakes were a generous portion of 3 pancakes served with whipped butter. They were a little dense, but still good. The omelet (ham, mushroom, spinach, cheese) was large. I liked it, but the eggs were probably not freshly scrambled as they were suspiciously homogenous in color and very flat and dense, almost rubbery, but the taste was okay. (Adding Ketchup made up for a bit of a textural miss). FYI: They do charge a 3% kitchen fee and 3% credit card fee, but they also gave us a 5% kamaaina discount, so it balanced out. read more

This Eggs n Things is located on Piikoi st. Right next to Ala Moana. There is alot of parking only cause i noticed alot of the tenants left. So other shops are left vacant. He seated us in a booth and gave us our menus. The waitress came to give us our water and we both ordered The signature ENT burger i had the fries and the wifey had hers with onion rings. The ENT burger consist of cheddar cheese, bacon, sautéed mushroom, onions, lettuce, tomato and over medium egg served on a onion bun. It kinda took awhile for burgers. BUT it was worth the wait. Was very tasty! Yummy!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Bottom line, would we come back to eggs n things? Nice casual brunch spot that has something for everyone! I got the kalua pig benedict and upgraded my side to mac nut pancakes. The mac nut pancakes weren't particularly special, but they were still tasty with the different syrups (maple, coconut, or guava). Next time I'd probably try one of their other specialty pancakes. The kalua pig benedict was very tasty and paired well with the taro bun. Portions are quite large so make sure you come with a big appetite! Also, be sure to join the yelp waitlist before you physically arrive at the restaurant. We went at peak brunch time on Saturday and the wait ended up being about 1 hour. We came super early and it got packed real quick. Some of our orders included the loco moco, kalua pork benedict and a shared mochi donut waffle. Let me tell you - I loved that loco moco with my dear life. The sauce was super savory and contained bits of ham and mushroom. Did I tell you I love mushrooms? It paired perfectly with the rice. The kalua pork benedict was also as beautiful. Loved the taro bun and the amount of protein that was packed right on top. Such good eggy goodness.
