Eggs 'n Things Ala Moana is our favorite breakfast spot in Honolulu. We love the Yelp waitlist feature that allows us to check-in while we are getting ready at home or in the car so that when we arrive we can walk right in to enjoy a nice breakfast. We have always been able to find free parking at this location right away. Inside, the restaurant is clean and cheery. The employees have aloha for their guests and we can count on them to take care of us during our visit. The food is consistently good. My favorite items on the menu are the acai bowl and the waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. My husband likes the pork adobo and the ENT wrap with ham, pepperJack, and guacamole. The hot black coffee is good with free refills. The iced cappuccino is delicious, "dessert in a cup", with free refills. This is also a five stars reward restaurant. Each time you dine you can type in your phone number on the iPad near the register to earn a point. Spending more does not get you more points. In the Ala Moana Center, Eggs' n Things have a good breakfast sealey on their menu. The corn beef hash was pretty good. My family ordered pancakes, furikaki ahi, eggs Benedict and other dishes. I taste tested them all and it was good! Food was filling. Our waiter was awesome. He made sure our drinks were filled and kept refilling my coffee. I've been to the the Egg 'n Things directly on the strip. This location was not as different. Food is comparable to your local Denny's -- in fact, I think this chain is in sync with the Denny's chain in terms of breakfast options, and service. The main difference is that Eggs 'n Things serves mimosas. I would suggest adding yourself on the waiting list via Yelp before arriving because this place gets packed. We ordered a little bit of everything and did not have anything to complain about. The Chicken Pineapple Sausages were really good. And, I would recommend ordering the Acai Fresh Fruit Waffle to share. It has the right tones of sweetness from the waffle, syrup, scoop of acai, and fresh fruit. Good food, good portions, good service. This was one of the few meals we actually got to sit down and enjoy outside of the Waikiki madness a few weeks ago. We came around 12:30pm on a Monday. There were 8 of us, but we were seated in 10-15 minutes. We all ordered a little bit of everything. I should add that our group hadn't seen each other for at least a couple of years and we all happened to be together on Oahu at the same time. I say this because we were probably loud with all the talking and laughing, but our server (I wish I knew his name!) was so cool with us. The pancakes with whipped cream is crazy good and mind you, this is no dollop of whip. It's a mountain and super Instagram-able. YUM! This is our weekend brunch spot before our kid's sports game. The waitress here is super nice and very patient. Food is really good and always satisfies our bellies. Their POG mimosa is super good too. It does get busy during the mornings, so make sure you use Yelp to go on the waitlist prior to arriving. Over the years, I think Eggs & Things has developed something of a reputation for being a tourist destination. That's probably because their original store was in Waikiki...and their food CAN get quite pricey, with all of the add-ons. Yes, pancakes ARE a free option with most of their breakfast dishes (nice!!)...but whipped cream? That'll cost you $2 extra. Whipped cream AND fresh strawberries? A whopping $8 more!! Anyway, if you don't need those extras, or you don't mind paying the price for them, Eggs & Things actually offers up some great food for very decent prices! The pancakes are huge and fluffy, with options for coconut pancake syrup or guava pancake syrup if you dine-in (available on request for take-out). I'm also a fan of their omelettes, which are huge (3 eggs), and packed with fillings, just the way I like it. As far as I'm concerned, the eggs are just there to hold the fillings together, lol! Omelettes also come with a side of cucumber salsa, which is nice & refreshing, not spicy at all. And their loco moco is another tasty option, with a decent-sized portion, and I'd consider it a good value. Because this place IS in fact popular with tourists, they can get quite busy at times...even during the weekdays. But the only times I've seen a wait during the week was later in the morning, around 9 or 10 am (i.e. typical "I'm on vacation" breakfast hours). I've never been there on a weekend...I imagine it could get a little crazy then. No matter the time or day, I'm guessing that parking is always easy, with a dedicated lot just for the few stores in that strip mall...and if worse came to worst, I'm sure you could find parking in other areas nearby. As far as customer service, it's not stellar here, but totally acceptable. Considering this is not fine dining--and the staff is really REALLY busy & constantly on the go--at least they do their best to keep smiling & "use their nice voice" (like I tell my kids) all the time...and I'm sure that must be exhausting! All in all, if you're ever in the mood for breakfast out--maybe while waiting for the shops at Ala Moana to open?--but don't want to brave the crowds in Waikiki or at some of trendier spots, I'd definitely recommend giving Eggs & Things a try! read more

I've been here multiple times. Cute local spot. Low key although can get busy. My mom loves this place. Over the years they had been consistent, maintaining guaranteed good eats and large portions, but post Covid seems to have changed them a bit. I can actually (almost) finish my meal whereas before I could never come close (Or maybe that's the p Covid weight gain... who's to say!) The portions are still pretty decent tho, don't get me wrong. And the menu is fairly large, so take your time and don't forget to look up at the specials on the screen. There is always something tasty flashing up there. Guaranteed. This review is a bit overdue as we dined here earlier in the week after a medical appointment in the Ala Moana Building. We parked our car near Foodland Farms and moseyed our way to Eggs n' Things. We followed the directional markers on the door marked for entrance and were immediately greeted by a host. We noticed their COVID-19 safety measures as we were handed a contact tracing sheet with sanitized menus. Seating was socially distanced, servers and bussers were wearing face masks and those who weren't actively eating or drinking had their masks on. We were feeling quite safe with Eggs 'n Things' COVID-19 safety protocols and settled in at a table. Our server, Ryan, was friendly, attentive, and efficient. He got us our coffees along with glasses of iced water to get the sleep out of our eyes then proceeded to give us a rundown of their breakfast specials. We interrupted him mid-way as we had perused the menu and told him we knew what we wanted to eat. Within 15 minutes, Ryan delivered our breakfasts fresh from the kitchen. FOOD: -Portuguese Sausage and Eggs: this is a local classic breakfast of 4 thick slices of pan-fried Portuguese sausage, 2 eggs, and rice. My husband requested over-easy eggs which he said was done just the way he likes them to be. It must've been really tasty to him as he finished eating before me. $10.50 -Special French Toast with Dark Cherries, Whipped Cream & Macadamia Nuts: I ordered this Special French toast as my taste buds drifted off to my fondness of French toast and dark sweet cherries. When my breakfast arrived, I was impressed by the dessert-like presentation and the 3 fluffy yet custard-like thick slices of French toast. I used a bit of coconut pancake syrup but didn't need to because the French toast was generously sprinkled with powdered sugar. $13.50 We were impressed with the efficient service, food quality, and great flavors and value. They serve omelettes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, and some other breakfast items. My wife ordered the macadamia nut pancakes, and I ordered the strawberry Belgian waffles. I tried to order orange juice, but they were out. Major disappointment. The strawberry waffles were amazing. Cooked perfectly, light and fluffy. The whipped cream was awesome, as were the amazing, perfectly ripe, individually selected strawberries, with maple syrup. I would have to call my wife's pancakes average. Nothing special, except for the guava syrup. My disclaimer is that I make home made pancakes with our own home made pancake mix, and hand-grind honey-roasted macadamia nuts, and use fresh real maple syrup at home, so I'm a bit hard to please in this regard. DO NOT order the rib eye and eggs. I received a NY Strip that was not cooked well and a respectable USDA grade. The steak was tough and difficult to cut with a steak knife. Don't waste your money. The dining room is typical of a bright and clean diner. Staff are friendly and efficient. Coffee was regularly refilled without asking. The menu includes the usual breakfast items, many with a nod to Hawaii. My companion ordered the specialty French toast of the day. Later the server apologized that they didn't have all of the ingredients and we needed to make a new selection. When the someone from the kitchen delivered our breakfast, he offered to give us an order of plain French toast for free as an apology for their error. We were happy with the offer, but had plenty of food and declined. Everything was great except, sadly, the eggs. My father was VERY picky about how his over easy eggs were prepared. He always ordered scrambled in restaurants, saying, "Nobody can screw up scrambled eggs." We found the exception to that rule here today. My scrambled eggs we tasteless, overcooked, dry and spongy. I honestly have never had worse scrambled eggs. My partners egg white scramble with veggie plates had over cooked egg whites. The veggies were not quite done and had sweated fair to much water into the eggs. They should have grilled or sautéed before adding to the eggs. The celery was still crisp and not a welcome addition to a breakfast dish. All in all the experience was okay. The service and ambiance were good. I've gotten a different dish each time, savory, sweet, meaty or starchy, and every single time I am blown away. I discovered my daughter, a Delta Flight Attendant, would be laying over in Honolulu for the first time while I was also laying over in Honolulu.
