This is the first time I gave a 2 star and 1 star on account of the very nice host downstairs. Do not fall for the hype. Service..Im speechless, I would rather eat at a Chinese restaurant with waiters not having eye contact than this place, needs management to fix this ASAP. Had to wait 15 minutes for order to be taken and felt ignored (not cool) on top of the 30 min wait to be seated(expected). Food was underwhelming, ordered the Portuguese sausage with macadamia pancakes(plain pancakes with a sprinkling macadamias as an afterthought), the eggs with sausage dry and weird texture. Mmmm...eggs AND pancakes! What can I say - we go almost daily whenever we visit Hawaii. Great value and fills you up for almost the whole day. Can't go wrong with an omelette that comes with pancakes on the side...! Cafe downstairs with good coffee (yes they can make a decent flat white) is a great idea too whilst waiting for your table as this place is constantly busy. You can't book for brekky and you will have to wait for a table so heads up - they do seat people pretty quickly though, and the longest we've had to wait is 30-35 mins. Signature place in Hawaii. I order the Loco Moco, and although it was good, I did not think it was better or worse than any other place. The sauce was really good though! I was not a fan of the wait time. It was just me, there were plenty of open seats upstairs, including the single seaters, but I had to wait 20 minutes. Not sure why that was. The food is great for a good sized breakfast. We visited twice, once on a Saturday and again, on a Thursday. The service on the two days was great on Saturday and horrible on Thursday. Saturday, the waiter came out, took our order, refilled drinks. You know, what you would expect from a restaurant. On Thursday, the waiter came out, took our order and that's when things fell apart. When one order arrived, we needed to request silverware and 3 minutes later, the other order arrived. No drink refills. No waiter stopping by to see how we were doing. No worries. This place has great food/portion size for a good price, but the wait is incredibly long! My boyfriend and I went at 7:35 am to get on the waiting list they told us it would be 30-45 minutes. This food is amazing and is reasonably priced for the area. I had the Hawaiian loco moco and tried to finish an order of the banana macadamia nut pancakes. The portions are large so I was not able to finish the five pancakes! The wait to get in was what I expected for a Saturday morning in Waikiki but the process of waiting was a bit confusing. First you check in with the host down stairs. They write your name down and how many people are with you (all parties must be present or they will not give you the pager). So once the pager goes off you then go up stairs to be seated. Our waitress was very friendly and the food came out exactly as ordered. My only complaint is that they don't have the specialty pancakes in a smaller side order. My suggestion if you want a couple things from the menu is to share with someone. read more

Good value for money. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and they gave you the option to have rice, potatoes or 3 pancakes. Of course I chose the buttermilk pancakes! Parents had the pineapple pork chop with eggs and pancakes as well. All in all, the food was good but nothing too amazing. It's a local thing here and it was a good experience. My wife and I went here twice today. 1st time the restaurant was closed so I ordered a smoothie. I asked them to make it extra thicc and they just put too much ice I. My smoothie. I could barely drink it and it tasted watered down. We figured maybe the cafe was bad but the restaurant would be better so we came back when the restaurant opened. 2nd time back we arrived when the restaurant had opened. We ordered waffle and pancakes and ended up paying $30. Also my blueberries were from a can and the watery liquid made my waffles soggy and squishie. Would not recommend. Overall, great breakfast experience! Got to grab some iced Kona coffee while we waited 20 or so minutes to get seated. The coffee was decent. Our waiter was personable and we had no issues. I had the Portuguese sausage omelette which was AWESOME with 3 buttermilk pancakes. It's a lot of food for the price. 3 syrup options: maple, guava, and another fruit I forgot lol. Most people love this place for its generous breakfasts, fast service and some Hawaiian- infused choices. I agree, it has all of those things. But most people leave half of the generous breakfast on their plates as it's just too much: it's a waste of food. The coffee was good. My macadamia pancakes had a light sprinkle of nuts on thick, somewhat tough pancakes with no real fresh buttermilk flavor. It's made from a packed mix, for sale on the 1st floor, if you like the stuff. My husband's breakfast had more flavor: eggs, Portuguese sausage and nicely seasoned potatoes. The prices were reasonable for Waikiki. Where we were seated inside had no air flow and I was too warm. Ask for a table on the balcony. I think my beef with most breakfasts restaurants is the huge quantities; carbo-o-Rama! and the fat content: a 4" stack of whipped cream on some pancakes according to the menu pics. Lots of sugar involved. It's low in fiber and fruit. And people wonder why Americans have an obesity epidemic? All I want is one or two eggs, one multigrain pancake and some fruit, with calorie count around 450. But quantity sells. I'd like some local touches, such as taro muffins available as an option. It would be nice if the Kailua pork Benedict was available every day and not just as a Friday special so more Hawaiian choices are available. If you are used to restaurant breakfasts, go here. Food was just as I ordered and very tasty. My reason for 3 stars is the service. I placed an order online and it gave me an expected pickup for 35 min. Not bad and so I walked from my hotel to pickup right at the 35 min mark. Upon arrival the man at the register looked at me like I was crazy for expecting my food to be done and informed me that there were at least 6 other pickup orders ahead of me. I told him I only came at this time because of the estimate that populated when I placed my online order. He said it would be another 30 min at least at that there were people that had been waiting over an hour and that they knew the estimate online was not correct. I said ok I can understand that but a phone call would have been nice to let me know ahead of time. My boyfriend and I decided to walk to Starbucks and come back. We came back 40 min later and our order was ready. Great! We picked it up and walked back to our hotel to sit out on the beach and eat. Upon opening the bag I see that none of the condiments I requested (which were on my receipt) were in the bag. I love eating at local places where ever I travel. I asked one of the hotel workers where he would go for breakfast in the area and he said Eggs and Things. My daughter and I went on Sunday and again on Monday. There were lots of locals mixed in with the tourists. The service was great and the food excellent. The pancakes were delicious. I had my favorite Portugese sausage plus eggs. The only draw back is that it is crowded and you need to expect a 20 - 40 minute wait. But who wants to eat in an empty restaurant? I decided to try dinner since breakfast is always so busy. It was still pretty busy but no wait. I had the calamari steak cajun style with salad and home fries $14.95. It was pretty good and the portion was a good size. I also tried the dinner pancakes with sour cream. I didn't like them. I think pancakes should stay sweet. We decided to stop by this restaurant for breakfast after reading the reviews and getting advice from someone at the hotel. The reviews are correct...very long wait with many Japanese tourists. The wait was about 1 hour on a Tuesday at 9AM. Upside is the guy taking down names is a funny person to talk to and speaks Japanese too. There's also a decent coffee place a couple doors down. The restaurant is actually up the stairs on the side of the building. There's a few tables outside and inside tables too. Overall, the decor was nice and pleasant. I ordered the Portuguese Sausage and Eggs with pancakes (upgraded to the strawberry with whip cream). Eggs were average. Portuguese sausage was pretty good. Pancakes were good...but not sure if they are worth the $4.95 to upgrade. I also ordered some type of tropical ice tea (something like that)...it was ok. My girlfriend ordered the Spam & Eggs with rice. I tried a bite and it tasted like Spam... But, my girlfriend thought it wasn't that great. In fact, we had McDonald's Spam & Egg breakfast later on our trip. And, she thought the McD's Spam tastes better.... In addition to the breakfast entree, she also ordered the guava juice which was ok. Considering the long wait and price, we will not be returning for another breakfast. However, if you go....perhaps you should stick to some of the standard breakfasts (i.e. omelets, etc.). Some of the "regular" dishes other people were eating looked pretty good. read more

Great variety of breakfast choices with a very quick kitchen and polite wait staff. The Bannana Crepes were light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The Ahi Steak and Eggs were a wonderful change of pace. The ahi was cooked to perfection with the perfect dash of seasonings. Great food and good price for Waikiki. Like everyone else says, Awesome pancakes. We ate here several times during our stay in Waikiki. The menu states that you can "upgrade" your standard pancake side dish of nearly every breakfast on the menu for a slight up charge. It turns out it is either $2.75 or $3.25 to upgrade based on the type of upgrade you choose. All of the different upgraded pancakes are so delicious. Service was fast and friendly. OVERRATED! THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP! We were lead to believe this place MUST have great breakfast since it was always crowded. We were wrong. Must of the crowd are Japanese tourists and a few other tourists who falls into the hype. So after waiting 1 hour for seating, we waited another 30 mins for the food. The coconut waffle I ordered was a mediocre flat waffle with coconut spinkles on top. Nothing better than anyone can make at home. Kids enjoyed Strawberry pancakes that was not any better than IHOP pancakes. We also had spinach and mushroom omelette that was tasteless. To end it, we paid close to $80 for a breakfast for 2 adults/2 kids. I expected fluffy, tasty waffles or pancakes with fruit cooked within the batter.There are many other places with better food for less...without the 1 hour wait. Decided to try this place out as our hotels free breakfast was starting to grow old on us. Upon arriving I was told it would be a 10 minute wait, ended up being over 35 minutes. I understand it's hard to estimate time but not my biggest complaint here. My wife's omelette was SWIMMING in butter and lacked flavor. The only redeeming item on her plate were the potatoes. Most of those were well seasoned and crispy. My macadamia nut pancakes were tough and dry, there's no doubt I could make better at home. I'd even put IHOP ahead of this place based on these two dishes. read more

Frankly, plates at other tables don't look too appealing either. My 2 kids used to love French crepes but not here.
