Solid 4. The food is great and the staff is super nice. The restaurant it self is very small so the wait time can get quite long. I was able to put our name down for the waitlist while still at our hotel so we didn't have to wait too long after checking in, about 15 min. Since the space is small they really do try to maximize their inside space. My family ordered pancakes and French toast. Everything was tasty and filling. My French toast was delicious and I would dine again and try them for lunch. read more

Aloha, Every time I go to Hawaii, this place is a must!!! The earlier you go, the shorter the wait time is. They currently have a tablet set up in the front, so you can check yourself in and be added to waitlist. Our wait time was about 15 minutes. The food is pretty good if you're a breakfast lover like myself. I got the Macadamia Pancakes and a side of the Portuguese sausage (which the waitress recommended) and it was super delish...and was served super quick!! Also, they have 3 different syrups on the table: Regular, Coconut & Guava...Coconut if for sure my favorite!! I knocked off a star because they sat us right next to the kitchen, which was kinda uncomfortable to have people walking by our table every minute. But other than that, add Eggs N Things to your itinerary for sureeee!!! read more

The dining area is upstairs with a flight of stairs. They were quite accommodating to customers with strollers as they set up a table for us downstairs next to the take out cashier line. Once we got seated they took our orders and food came promptly. I would like to call out as improvement was the plate that normally comes with potatoes, we asked to replace with fries which they weren't accommodating to this simple swamp. We ended up having to order a side of fries (my husband always craves for fries). I ordered the ahi tuna steak and the tuna was quite tough, and hard to chew, was difficult to cut. This was just meh for me. I ordered the egg scramble with turkey bacon. It was super bland. It has no cheese as well, I was really missing that. The scramble was under seasoned. The potatoes were tasty. I wish they would have included some toast. My wife got the 3 pancake sampler with strawberry, blueberry and banana. Disappointed that the strawberries and blueberries were previously frozen. For the price, I was expecting fresh fruit. read more

DELICIOUS salmon eggs benedict on taro roll, kids LOVED nutella pancakes and blueberry cheesecake crêpes, iced cappuccinos and hot chocolates met with approval all around. Very busy, popular spot (for good reason) and staff were super helpful and accommodating. They answered the phones quickly, advised to join the waitlist on yelp. My teens didn't want to wait, so we ordered to-go, but when our table came up just before our food, the staff switched everything over so we could eat in a beautiful little corner table with a breeze and view of the water. Notes: there is a kitchen staff surcharge for dine-in orders and a credit card surcharge to pay. Definitely make a reservation or join the wait list online, but our table came up much earlier than the estimated wait time. read more

However, when I checked with the hostess to ask about wait time, she very abruptly directed me to check in "on-line". When I'd walked in, I never saw a sign or app. I was a little put off, so i left. Can I just say this spot is the ish! The loco moco is so savory and full of flavor. My favorite syrup is the coconut one, over my pancakes which were so tasty. I had the burger which I thought looked nothing like the pictures. Well once I took a bite, I was in flavor land! The meat is so fresh and packed with delicious meaty flavor! The iced coffee with NON DAIRY creamer is a must!! And the pog drink is super fresh. I invite my military peeps here as well while they were shipped in for the weekend. We were all soo satisfied. The service was excellent! I recommend getting here early, like 7am. But tbh if your a later riser, the wait time ain't too bad. The portions here are huge! Even the kids size portions are enough for an adult to eat and be full. My daughter got the kids chocolate chip pancakes and pineapple juice. She couldn't eat all of them as they were what I would call adult size. I got the French toast with chocolate chips and i could only eat 1.25 of the slices and the POG juice. The French toast was a little too much but the POG juice is amazing. My husband got the omelet special with potatoes and an iced green tea. It was the only portion that seemed reasonable, especially since he had to eat my portion too. I highly recommend going first thing in the morning, and joining the waitlist online, if you don't you will have a long wait. If you are a big eater who enjoys sweet foods, then this will be the place for you. read more

Aloha! Great local place for breakfast or burnch. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. The menu offer traditional western breakfast dishes with a local flare. The results are phenomenal, an explosion of flavors to die for. I tried the Crab Cakes Egg Benedicts, they were delicious. Paired them with pancakes, as a side dish. The restaurant is family friendly, very casual and relax atmosphere. Expect to wait 20 - 30 minutes for brunch on the weekends or busy season. Yet, it is worth the wait. Very good breakfast! Definitely come before 8 AM for immediate seating! I ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco and was completely satiated! I also tried the Portuguese sausage as a side, and it was yummy! Because I was here early in the morning (at around 7 AM), there were not a lot of people around and our food came out within 5 - 10 minutes. It is not cheap, expect to spend around $15 - $20 per person. Make sure you check in on the ground floor when you here, and then you can head upstairs (staircase located on the far right side of the restaurant) when your buzzer goes off. I would not necessarily return to this location as you don't get any ocean views here. I think their other location on Waikiki possibly has an ocean view, but I didn't go there. read more

This place was recommended by the hotel I was staying. It was nice and the balcony seating is great. There are lots of birds inside, which I love, and the service is really good. The food is not bad but not the best. I ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco with brown rice and my friend ordered the Kalbi Eggs with Kimchee. The Loco Moco had good flavor but the hamburger patty wasn't cooked all the way through, so I was still hungry afterwards. It had lots of veggies and even some spam in it. The Kalbi Eggs we're great. It was very flavorful and the kimchee made the dish. I washed it all down with a glass of their POG Blend juice which is pineapple, guava, and one other that I can't remember. It was amazing. Out server was wonderful. She gave some great recommendations on where to go locally and offered excellent service. Well done. Thank you for making our visit that much more memorable. read more

Worst breakfast I've had on island! Skip this spot and go to Castro's one door down for some fire food instead! When we arrived we were seated on the upstairs lanai which didn't have enough space for us to sit down let alone all the servers pushing by us en route. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. Took over an hour to get our food and when it arrived it was so disgusting we couldn't eat it. Everything was burnt and overcooked to the point it was inedible. My boyfriend orders d a hamburger because he was starving. Hamburger itself was too hard to even take a bite of. They didn't offer us any solutions when we complained and told us we had to pay full price. I will never eat here again read more

There are multiple locations in Waikiki. This location was across from the post office and had a shorter wait time than the other one, but I'd still suggest joining the waitlist on Yelp. They're service is fast and they're all so friendly. The food was just OK, nothing extraordinary. The pancake sampler was pretty good because the toppings were also mixed in the batter, but the mountain of whipped cream was a bit much for us. The seating is a bit tight, but it's cozy. Overall, it's an ok breakfast place. Get in, get your eggs and get out. read more

Our go to breakfast spot when in Waikiki, good food, good prices for the area, waiters/waitresses are always smiling service is quick once you are sitted. Always expect about a 30-60 minute wait. But you are able to get on their waitlist online prior to your arrival. Be aware that they add a 3% Tip for the kitchen employees automatically to your bill, but will keep returning. read more

There are multiple locations throughout Hawaii, I can only speak of the one I visited. There is an extensive menu full of both sweet and savory dishes. I had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered a Loco Moco and it was everything that is should be but nothing will knock your socks off. There is always a wait given that we arrived at 7:30 (opened at 7) and there was already a 45+ minute wait (granted I had a large group). Other smaller parties also were seen waiting, but if desired you could get take out which I appreciated and could expedite the trip. read more

I was hesitant about giving this place a chance because it's in a massive touristy area in Waikiki and I usually tend to stray away from places like these but I'm glad I gave it a chance. FOOD: We ordered the Island Style Fried Rice, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, a side of spam, and Lilikoi Juice. Personally, I thought the Lilikoi Juice was way too sweet - in all honesty I think it tasted like Tang. The Island Fried was so delicious - I completely recommend it. The Macadamia Nut pancakes were delicious, they paired well with the guava syrup. SERVICE: It took us about 45 minutes to get seated on a Sunday morning, I would say be ready for a long wait because it looks pretty common from most Yelpers. Friendly service, though. LOCATION: When we were there, the eating area was upstairs and there was no downstairs seating. There's outdoor seating for people that are waiting to be seated. It isn't in the thick of tourist Waikiki so it's nice and quiet. Will we return? Definitely! read more

The food was delicious but the wait was ridiculous. Don't put yourself on the wait list it's not worth it. Take it to go...the food is great. We hiked Diamond Head and then put our names down at 8 while we are at the parking lot leaving to go to Eggs n Things. This was a Tuesday. There was just 5 of us and we didn't get seated almost 2 hours later. The real reason is that they only have 10 small tables inside. There is just overwhelming interest to eat here which is fantastic for the business but not for the customer. I can't even imagine during the summer how bad the wait would be. You pay too much to get to Hawaii and then have to wait hours to sit inside. TAKE IT TO GO!!! read more

The food was beyond what expected. The fluffy texture of the pancakes was delicious. (though it would be best to share amongst a party) Service: The employees are friendly and helped us right away when we checked in. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

Well, the Monkeypod Kitchen Mai Tai is that "song" for me. No matter how many months pass between trips to Hawaii, it's the one thing I'm always craving. First stop after our five plus hour flight is to always sit at the bar and hum my way through a Mai Tai. We've tried competitors' Mai Tais, but Monkeypod has THE BEST Mai Tai on the island (possibly the country)! It contains a double shot of rum, so pace yourself if you're a lightweight. What makes this extraordinary is the lilikoi (passion fruit) foam on the top. It's the reason I am "passion"ately in love with this cocktail. We've eaten at a table in their main dining room, however, we really enjoy bar seating during Happy Hour, which is from 3:30pm-5:00pm, daily (except select holidays) and again from 9:00pm-11:00pm. It is first come first serve at the bar. If you prefer table seating, be sure to make a reservation. The wait can be long without one. Their Happy Hour items include all of their appetizers at half price, excluding any seafood. Cocktails are $4 off, beers $2 off, wine by the glass $3 off and the pizzas (excluding the Bourgeois) are $17. All of the items we've tried are super delicious and the bartenders are all very friendly and professional. They also provide live music daily, at 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 7:30pm. Cramped & uncomfortable waiting & dining areas, unpleasant noisy ambience, and VERY strictly enforced, unfriendly policies. We visited Eggs & Things Waikiki for my birthday on August 22, 2013. When we arrived at 8:30 AM, the hostess quoted us a 30-40 minute wait time, and I wasn't about to waste away any part of my beautiful birthday in paradise sitting in their over cramped waiting area, so we took a leisurely stroll to Starbucks where I got myself a delicious Venti Frappuccino to celebrate my bday. Upon returning, we waited about 20 more minutes only to be called upstairs and then they REFUSED TO SEAT US because I had my Venti Starbucks in hand, and they "don't allow outside beverages". The only options the server gave us was 1) Stand here and just down the whole thing first before they seat us, like they do with water at the airport before going thru Security (HELLO, I'm a small girl, and this drink was a Venti...I wanted to have it to enjoy over the next hour or so!), or 2) Throw my full drink away & order something from THEIR coffee bar!!! I told the server I got the Starbucks while I was stuck waiting in their line, and that it was my birthday, but he did not care and looked at our party of 2 as if we were such a huge inconvenience. He didn't even offer to package up our order to go for us. Honestly at this point due to the customer NON service, I would have liked to have just left and not given them any of our hard earned money, but since we waited so long and had plans immediately afterward, I had the idea to order & take our food to-go and eat it from our ocean view penthouse suite. It turned out to be a MUCH better idea than eating in their restaurant, which I noticed was very uncomfortable, cramped & such a noisy atmosphere. If there was music playing I could not hear it over the sounds of all the silverware clanking and the other patrons were all speaking loudly to be heard over everyone else. The Corned Beef Hash omelette and Portugese Sausage dishes we ordered were OK, though I could have made these items better myself in our own kitchenette & saved us the overpriced cost, the hassle and the inconvenience of dealing with such rigid people. The server was so rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming that I was thankful I didn't have to tip because it was a to-go order. I usually tip 20% but would have written a negative tip amount on this order if it were possible. So the moral of the story is, this is a tourist trap, highly overpriced and you will be treated like a herd of people trying to cram through airport security. I will never eat here again. Save your money and your time and go to Duke's Breakfast Buffet for all you can eat goodness, a great view, consistently awesome service & much better ambience. read more

My wife and I ate here the day after we where married as we stayed down town for the evening. It was a nice walk to the place but we didnt mind at all. As we get there about 930 or so we where told it would be a wait time of 10 or so minutes in which we both where ok with. 3 minutes later our buzzer goes off and we headed up stairs. We where seated in the back along the balcony. Now mind yoh not the greatest view but, I didnt come here for a view I came here for some good food. The service was excellent from start to finish. Even though we had our backs to where the waitress came from she was still able to get us our drinks and food with having it spilt everywhere. Which for me was very impressive because each time she came I was trying move out the way but ended up being in the way. We ordered half a papaya which very good way to start the breakfast. We both ordered iced coffee with milk. For me it was quiet strong but thats not a complaint just it was a little unexpected. For food we both ordered the portegese sausge and eggs. My wife had it with rice. I had it with the pancakes. Now for me, Im kinda a pancake snob. If the pancakes are not as good as can make at mom why even bither going to the resturant and oredering food. But I alsways have to try it where ever I go. Here at Eggs and Things, they do it right. My husband and I went visited (their new location, 343 Saratoga Rd, not 1911 Kalakaua) their new location, after going to there old location any time we were in Hawaii. We were really pleased to find, that they had the same menu and the exact same prices! The new location is a two story building, that feels like old Hawaii, they even have these great historical pictures of Hawaii throughout the restaurant. This location has a more open air feel. We actually went twice so far... once we waited with the mobs of people waiting to get in in the morning, but then we found out they just opened for dinner, from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM, so last night we went in the evening. That's one thing great about this new location, it is much closer to the heart of Waikiki, so it was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel (Royal Hawaiian). In the evening, there was no wait, and it had a great relaxed feel. Nothing like having breakfast for dinner (only on vacation)! I would suggest trying to go in the evenings, if you need somewhere to eat that's filling, delicious, and economical. I think this won't be a well kept secret for long... I don't think many people know they don't have to wait in the morning lines, they can come back at night and just really enjoy the atmosphere. My husband fell in love with the Ahi and Eggs, so I'm sure we'll have to come back at least one more time before we go home. read more

Weirdest place I've ever eaten at. You gotta line up and someone hands you the menu and you have to decide what you want (while standing up), then tell a stationary server what you want. Then you line up and pay for your meal, then line up and wait for a table. They gave me a pager that lights up and vibrates when your food is done. You have to hold up your hand so they know where to bring the food. My pancakes came with coconut syrup and FAKE maple syrup - yeah FAKE ! Sugar syrup ! Pancakes were very tough and hard to cut. Eggs were good, but anyone can make good eggs. Then I tried to order more food but was not allowed to. Guess I had to get back in line and order more food and wait for another table. A server was tapped on the shoulder by a customer and she yelled at him NOT to do that. NO idea why they would not have a regular way of getting food to you and pay after.... it's like they don't trust anyone. Kinda like a MacDonalds way of doing it. This place sucks!!!! How can you have terrible service in Hawaii. My wife and I were looking for breakfast this morning and decided to try this place out as it is right down the street from the Trump Wakikki. We wait 25 mins to be seated. Once we are seated we order our food and water as well as orange juice. A minute later a rude gentlemen maybe the manager says that I can't drink Starbucks coffee inside the restaurant. Yet we I look around there are others with coffee that seems to be from outside places as well as water bottles from the Trump Hotel. When I questioned why I was being singled out the alleged manager goes well its just water. My reply was well its just coffee and I ordered another beverage which was orange juice as well as ordering about 40 bucks worth of food! Long story short we left but please don't eat here try out the Denny's on Lewers Street or Mac 24/7 these places are much friendlier. Also the Trump has a great breakfast buffett and a great staff! Couple months ago I went with a buncha friends to see what the whoop was about the hr long lines, only to find that there was no whoop. Please tourists, don't waste your time here. Locals, you already know. I dont get why people wait that long for breakfast when they can easily get it anywhere else! There's nothing special about the breakfast here. Customer service: I don't like the hosts much (who likes being yelled at or seeing japanese tourists being yelled at to get their attention). There's not much geniune aloha there. I much prefer the servers, they are much better at customer service. Food: The macadamia nut pancakes considering i don't like pancakes much. But I'm sure I can make better at home. Tip: If its a NEED TO experience, go early and beat everyone else to the line. Tip: Locals, you'll get better food at a cheaper price an KOA PANCAKE HOUSE! The restaurant now feels very corporate and has lost the charm it once had. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the establishment has taken a significant hit. The restaurant was dirty, and the bathrooms were in poor condition. The wait was incredibly long, so I highly recommend making a reservation online to avoid standing in line. Also, make sure you don't go to the wrong location. Once seated, I found the tables to be quite small, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. The food presentation was disappointing as well. The plates were plastic and cheap, which didn't help the overall feel of the meal. I ordered the loco moco, and it was way too salty. Overall, it's sad to see how much this place has declined. I hope they can improve their standards and return to their former glory. read more

We were there for brunch, around Noon on a Wednesday. I had an omelette w/ cheese, mushrooms, and onions. My side was potatoes. My wife ordered a waffle w/ Nutella and whipped cream w/ a side of spam. My omelette was perfect. Cooked the way I liked it with just the right amount of filling. The type of potatoes weren't specified when I ordered them, but when they came, I was thrilled... they were home fries, also cooked perfectly. My wife throughly enjoyed her waffle and spam. They offered her syrup to go with her waffle, but she didn't need it, due to the sweetness of the Nutella. The only down side is that you can put your name on the waiting list online, but it doesn't seem to do any good. You get your table based on arrival. This is why I deducted one star. read more

It's a little tight inside and out but that's okay! The atmosphere is amazing, the random chickens/roosters walking around makes it even better while you wait on your table. Typically in any place where you wait for a table it takes a while, however here the turnaround is fantastic! Granted I traveled alone for a couple of days but you better believe that I dined twice here for breakfast! The employees are sweethearts and they care for you like family. I believe the manager came by my table both times I visited and even told me "hey you're back" and which I responded "of course!" If you're in Oahu, Eggs 'n Things is a must-visit! I came here for breakfast and was blown away by how good everything was. The food came out hot and fresh, the portions were generous, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The real star, though? The coconut syrup. Hands down one of the best things I've ever tasted, it's sweet, creamy, and adds that perfect island touch to their already amazing pancakes. I wish I could've bottled it up and taken it home! A must-visit breakfast/brunch spot in Honolulu! The service here is top-notch. Even though there was a line outside, the wait was minimal--we were seated within 15 minutes. The Hawaiian chicken and waffles were absolutely delicious, and the Kalua pork Benedict with multicolored potatoes was a standout. Seating is available upstairs, with a spacious patio overlooking the street and plenty of indoor options as well. Update: the owner said to email them to let them know what happened. I emailed the email provided by owner and of course I got no response. They put in there to reach out like they care but I emailed him the same day and it's been over a week and no response. Proves my point that their customer service is horrible and treat people like crap. Take your business to other locals or even corporations who appreciate your business rather than this indifferent company/owner. The food is okay, bit overrated.... The staff were nasty and condescending on multiple occasions behind customers backs. I was wondering what was going on so I starting observing the waitstaff and noticed that they were only pleasant to non-white customers. I thought it was just me thinking this, until we went else where for meals. We went to go into a shop and an American white man said to us "I would advise you not to go in there, they don't like white people!" Then it all clicked.... We were treated second class because of our skin colour. Sad but true. read more

Stop by for breakfast and was sent upstairs to dining room. Place was ok and no one greeted me. So went to find a seat. Lady came by 2 minutes later and said I sat myself. Well, no one was at entrance. Then sat there for 10 minutes and it was not busy. Saw 3 or more wait staff just walking around all grumpy. No one said hello or anything. 15 minutes later still no service or water. Decided to leave as I see they don't like Asian customers. Sad, advice, try somewhere they will appreciate your business. I don't know how or why a restaurant named eggs & things could be so utterly terrible. With all the hype we read about, we waited. When we were finally seated it took about 10 mins for a waiter to stop even though they passed us a few times. Our food finally arrived and it was a completely different order.
