Three words - macadamia nut pancakes!! This was my favorite restaurant to grab breakfast from. I got there around 10am and there was a bit of a wait, but it was sooo worth it. The place was packed, yet the customer service was not lacking. Everyone was super nice and offered suggestions on what to order for first timers and several of their staff walked over and gave us tips of beaches and places to party at. :) We ordered a little bit of everything. The fresh guava juice is super sweet and if you order any of the specials or meat and eggs, it comes with pancakes. You can upgrade the pancakes to your liking which is exactly what I did. The portions are huge so I would suggest sharing with whomever you are with. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for good a good Hawaiian breakfast. FYI...they are also opening a second location on the strip of Waikiki that should be open by the end of the year. read more

This is a pretty well known breakfast place in Hawaii and I was really looking forward to trying it. Overall, I thought it was maybe a little above average. There is a large array of specialty pancakes as well as your standard breakfast items like corned beef hash, sausages, omelets etc. Here's the thing, you can't really mess up breakfast food. Eggs, sausage, bacon....it's pretty hard to make those things NOT delicious so I was rather disappointed when the food was just meh. The one thing that was outstanding was the pancakes, they are really fluffy and come with coconut as well as guava syrup. read more

This place is super cute and has breakfast all day. We went there on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait for more than 5 minutes. The staff are bilingual and spoke both English and Japanese. They were friendly and gave us suggestions as to what they liked off the menu. Not sure how to crust your ahi tuna steak? The suggestion we were given was furikake and macadamia, and it was super tasty with the wasabi aioli dipping sauce. We also got the plantation pork chop, and that was really well done. Pork chops can get pretty dry, but this one was good and stayed moist and tender, probably also due to the pineapple juice it was soaked in! The pork chop came with a slice of grilled pineapple on top, and my only complaint is that there wasn't enough grilled pineapple! We also got a stack of pancakes on the side and while they were just okay, OMG the coconut syrup. The guava one was good too, but I could literally drink the syrup, it was that good. Too bad it's full of HFCS, but it's mega tasty. The gift shop downstairs was okay and a bit gimmicky. read more

It's ok. The food was mediocre, working at a kitchen before the potato were pre cut frozen. It was a bit overpriced and they charges little too much extra for standard typically include fare like toast. Like little things like pineapple green iced tea with free refills but no pineapple with the refills. Comes across as cheap. It's ok. But nothing special. I liked the decor. Country, homely with a view. I'm gonna second my co workers response when I asked about it with a simple "eh..." Nothing terrible going on but "eh..." read more

Eggs and Things is located in a "sort of old", and kinda "cleanish" building on Saratoga Road in the Waikiki area of Honolulu. Being part of the "more mature" crowd, the climb up the steep stairs to the dining room, is a bit much. But, very worth it. So much for ambiance, let's talk about the service. Where to start? "Me and Patti" are of the more mature demographic. So everything we discuss, is from that point of view. Still very active, mostly mobile, seniors. That being said. From our hotel, Eggs and Things is about 1/2 mile from our hotel. Just a little further than "most" seniors like to walk. So, we drove. Lucky for us, there is free parking across the street, at the post office. However, you will need a handicap parking placard, like we have. There is "pay by phone" parking there as well. Nobody seems to want to pay for parking. Hello! If you are like us, and it is within your means, don't cheap out on your "Golden Years". Ok, enough of the pontificating, how about the service? We parked our ugly rental car (see Avis review), walked across the street, checked in and waited. 44 minutes later, we climbed the stairs to the second floor. As soon as we walked in, we observed that, were the only seniors there. I'm sure that there had been, other seniors there today, but...As, soon as we stepped inside, we were escorted outside, to a table, right next to the f'n front door. The view of the parking lot and building,next door, wasn't what we expected, but we have eaten at worse looking establishments, so enough about the seating. A young man walked up and handed us our menu's and left. (See pictures). We looked over the "bill of fare" and were fascinated. In our humble opinions, this menu is "fire". We couldn't make up our minds. The 15 minutes we spent, waiting for our server, John, to appear, was but a second. Prices are a little high, if you are on a set income. So, if you can, go for it! Ok, now to the food. Stay with us, here. Patti ordered "Special Hawaiian Sweet Bread French Toast with Strawberries ". (See picture) Patti said it was delicious. The bread was soft as a fluffy cloud, in your mouth. More than enough strawberries and whipped cream. For me, dessert for breakfast? Only on vacation. LOL. I built my own low sugar, low carb, lowest fat I could, omelette. "Fresh mushroom, spinach, onion, and zucchini omelet with a side of turkey bacon. (See photo) The salsa on the side was wonderful. Everything cooked perfectly. Amazing! We wolfed it down and I have spent more time writing this, than we did at the restaurant. Sum it all up. Literally, very limited parking. Walk if possible. 1 hour wait from first in the door, to food on our table. John , our waiter, was professional and quick. Food was great. Table wasn't great, but.... $50 for food and taxes. $15 tip for John. $65 for a great breakfast. Remember, if you can, "Don't cheap out on your golden years." If you can die, owing the credit card companies, all the better. Can't collect from a corpse. read more

Pancakes are 5/5!!! Thick, warm, and fluffy. The food portions are on the smaller side but the service is great, very attentive and friendly. We got a table with a street view and there's little birds that fly through the restaurant! Really cool place. read more

The food is okay. Quite healthy. The scrambled eggs are really tasty. The service here really sucks. The blonde lady is very sleepy at work. The food was good, and the wait wasn't bad. Although the service was horrendous, the worst I have had in a very long time. It ruined the entire experience for us. Our server Delta was rude, irritable, and snappy the entire meal. I asked where we should go to be seated and she refused to look at me or even so much as turn around and gestured towards the seating stand and stated "here" in an aggressive tone. She did not say one word to us when taking our order except "do you know what you want" and when my partner asked to get pancakes instead of potatoes she responded "I don't know I mean you could I guess" and dramatically walked back to the kitchen clearly irritated she even asked. Throughout our dining experience she did not so much as smile or say anything welcoming to us. We both felt extremely uncomfortable and confused the entire meal and any interaction we had with her. Several times we tried to be nice and use a light tone and smile and she stared at us with an off put and agitated face. A coworker of hers was visibly trying to get her to breathe when we first arrived walking into the top of the restaurant, indicating in front of several customers something had happened prior to us arriving. While treating service workers with respect and dignity is of highest importance, it was very unprofessional to take it out on the following customers in a way I have not experienced before. While we still tipped 15%, in writing this review I hope she able to self reflect on a better way to use customer service with customers who are friendly and respectful who do not deserve that treatment. read more

This location = no parking (look for street parking or take the one of many trolleys that stops right in front of the restaurant) and also a long wait for a table. Worth the wait of admission. Our group waited for about 20 mins for a table (glad they had those buzzing table/ready coasters to hold on to), seating was upstairs but restrooms were downstairs (weird). The breakfast was awesome! A great way to start your day on vacation with some spam and eggs, Portuguese sausage and eggs and Macadamia Nut pancakes. The service was pretty awesome...but they had this pervert of a busboy (older Filipino guy) always trying to hit up on the poor cute Japanese girls and hugging them. LOL! Food came out fast, the service was quick and friendly, and it was worth the wait for their breakfast. This is not the Waikiki Beach location, but apparently a new location not too far away. The other pancakes we saw at the other tables look good and big too! Do have patience, do look over the menu when you're waiting for a table (it'll save you some time when do get your table), do enjoy the views if you're sitting facing out of the restaurant and do enjoy their Mac Nut Pancakes. Found this location online and decided to try it out. My Mom got eggs with mango chicken sausage with pancakes I got the island fried rice. We were pleased with the amount of food provided and taste was great. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you're in the Waikiki area. read more

Went for breakfast but ended up eating lunch. We checked in at 10:01 and didn't get seated until 12 noon. The guy at the front told us "it wouldn't take long" since we ask for whatever table is available. Check in around 1120 and was then told the wait about an hour and half when I checked in by another lady. We stayed because we already waited for more than an hour at that point. We got seated and the food was pretty quick. I ordered steak and egg, medium rare, so as my sister. They switched our steaks and were overcooked!!Worth the 2 hours wait? Just finished eating here. 4 is of total. Food sucked. The service sucked. Over priced. I should have gone with my gut and went to McDonald's. At least you know what to expect there. Took forever to be seated. Took forever to get our food. And when we got our food, the 4th persons food came like 15 minutes after. Small portions. I'm pissed I even came here and gave them a chance. HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Rude manager! We were placed on the waiting list at 9:14 am and were told the wait would be hour and 15 minutes. After 1 hour and 30 minutes have passed, we checked with the manager and he said that we canceled ourselves from the list. But we did not get any notifications that we were taken off the list. Our main concern was that we have a child with us and we were expecting to have breakfast at this place. But the manager did not seem to care to attend to our concern. He placed us all the way to the back of the waiting list, which would take another 2 hours. After all this hassle there is no way we would want to stay and wait for 2 hours to be seated. read more

Food was amazing.. being the last day of Hawaii we came to this restaurant because we've heard nothing but great things food was great but my waitress Jessika was very rude and bad. We sat there before two other tables and we're ready and she still helped everyone but us. I had mentioned to her we were ready and she said hold on I'll be back and went and helped the other tables that arrived after us. Right now, it does seem that you've got to get to Eggs 'n Things at least 15 minutes beforehand to get a seat quickly. We got there around 7:10, and already the queue was 45 minutes long. Not a big deal, though. It is worth the wait. They use Yelp Waitlist, and we put our name in and got our text to return, and when we returned, they said our name wasn't on the list anywhere. The downstairs host remembered us and saw our confirmation text so sent us upstairs and told us to tell the upstairs hostess that he said we could have a table and to show her the text. We did and she did not care and told us we couldn't have a table. I get it - the system wasn't showing our names, but I have the confirmation text saying we can be seated at a table. I offered my phone number to see if maybe the downstairs host misheard me and wrote down a different name, but she said no and that we could take a seat at their cramped counter or go to the back of the line and wait in the queue all over again. We sat at the counter even though we should have gotten a table because we had somewhere to go, though I do almost wish we worked out something because the counter is very uncomfortable to sit at. The woman definitely could have been nicer and tried to work it out, but I also understand that her job must be stressful and it just wasn't at the top of her priorities right then and there. The waitresses and servers that came to our table were wonderful and attentive, though. They were very good with their masks, and they were wearing gloves when they came by with any food or drinks. The food was also really good, I got the acai waffle, and they accommodated my food restriction because I can't have pineapple. My fiancé got the meat and eggs, and the sausage here at Eggs 'n Things is wonderful. read more

An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

Cramped & uncomfortable waiting & dining areas, unpleasant noisy ambience, and VERY strictly enforced, unfriendly policies. We visited Eggs & Things Waikiki for my birthday on August 22, 2013. When we arrived at 8:30 AM, the hostess quoted us a 30-40 minute wait time, and I wasn't about to waste away any part of my beautiful birthday in paradise sitting in their over cramped waiting area, so we took a leisurely stroll to Starbucks where I got myself a delicious Venti Frappuccino to celebrate my bday. Upon returning, we waited about 20 more minutes only to be called upstairs and then they REFUSED TO SEAT US because I had my Venti Starbucks in hand, and they "don't allow outside beverages". The only options the server gave us was 1) Stand here and just down the whole thing first before they seat us, like they do with water at the airport before going thru Security (HELLO, I'm a small girl, and this drink was a Venti...I wanted to have it to enjoy over the next hour or so!), or 2) Throw my full drink away & order something from THEIR coffee bar!!! I told the server I got the Starbucks while I was stuck waiting in their line, and that it was my birthday, but he did not care and looked at our party of 2 as if we were such a huge inconvenience. He didn't even offer to package up our order to go for us. Honestly at this point due to the customer NON service, I would have liked to have just left and not given them any of our hard earned money, but since we waited so long and had plans immediately afterward, I had the idea to order & take our food to-go and eat it from our ocean view penthouse suite. It turned out to be a MUCH better idea than eating in their restaurant, which I noticed was very uncomfortable, cramped & such a noisy atmosphere. If there was music playing I could not hear it over the sounds of all the silverware clanking and the other patrons were all speaking loudly to be heard over everyone else. The Corned Beef Hash omelette and Portugese Sausage dishes we ordered were OK, though I could have made these items better myself in our own kitchenette & saved us the overpriced cost, the hassle and the inconvenience of dealing with such rigid people. The server was so rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming that I was thankful I didn't have to tip because it was a to-go order. I usually tip 20% but would have written a negative tip amount on this order if it were possible. So the moral of the story is, this is a tourist trap, highly overpriced and you will be treated like a herd of people trying to cram through airport security. I will never eat here again. My wife and I ate here the day after we where married as we stayed down town for the evening. It was a nice walk to the place but we didnt mind at all. As we get there about 930 or so we where told it would be a wait time of 10 or so minutes in which we both where ok with. 3 minutes later our buzzer goes off and we headed up stairs. We where seated in the back along the balcony. Now mind yoh not the greatest view but, I didnt come here for a view I came here for some good food. The service was excellent from start to finish. Even though we had our backs to where the waitress came from she was still able to get us our drinks and food with having it spilt everywhere. Which for me was very impressive because each time she came I was trying move out the way but ended up being in the way. We ordered half a papaya which very good way to start the breakfast. We both ordered iced coffee with milk. For me it was quiet strong but thats not a complaint just it was a little unexpected. For food we both ordered the portegese sausge and eggs. My wife had it with rice. I had it with the pancakes. Now for me, Im kinda a pancake snob. If the pancakes are not as good as can make at mom why even bither going to the resturant and oredering food. But I alsways have to try it where ever I go. Here at Eggs and Things, they do it right. My husband and I went visited (their new location, 343 Saratoga Rd, not 1911 Kalakaua) their new location, after going to there old location any time we were in Hawaii. We were really pleased to find, that they had the same menu and the exact same prices! The new location is a two story building, that feels like old Hawaii, they even have these great historical pictures of Hawaii throughout the restaurant. This location has a more open air feel. We actually went twice so far... once we waited with the mobs of people waiting to get in in the morning, but then we found out they just opened for dinner, from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM, so last night we went in the evening. That's one thing great about this new location, it is much closer to the heart of Waikiki, so it was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel (Royal Hawaiian). In the evening, there was no wait, and it had a great relaxed feel. Nothing like having breakfast for dinner (only on vacation)! I would suggest trying to go in the evenings, if you need somewhere to eat that's filling, delicious, and economical. I think this won't be a well kept secret for long... I don't think many people know they don't have to wait in the morning lines, they can come back at night and just really enjoy the atmosphere. My husband fell in love with the Ahi and Eggs, so I'm sure we'll have to come back at least one more time before we go home. read more

Weirdest place I've ever eaten at. You gotta line up and someone hands you the menu and you have to decide what you want (while standing up), then tell a stationary server what you want. Then you line up and pay for your meal, then line up and wait for a table. They gave me a pager that lights up and vibrates when your food is done. You have to hold up your hand so they know where to bring the food. My pancakes came with coconut syrup and FAKE maple syrup - yeah FAKE ! Sugar syrup ! Pancakes were very tough and hard to cut. Eggs were good, but anyone can make good eggs. Then I tried to order more food but was not allowed to. Guess I had to get back in line and order more food and wait for another table. A server was tapped on the shoulder by a customer and she yelled at him NOT to do that. NO idea why they would not have a regular way of getting food to you and pay after.... it's like they don't trust anyone. Kinda like a MacDonalds way of doing it. AND, paper plates and cups and plastic utensils... screw the environment ! Oh my gods... weird place indeed. read more

This place sucks!!!! How can you have terrible service in Hawaii. My wife and I were looking for breakfast this morning and decided to try this place out as it is right down the street from the Trump Wakikki. We wait 25 mins to be seated. Once we are seated we order our food and water as well as orange juice. A minute later a rude gentlemen maybe the manager says that I can't drink Starbucks coffee inside the restaurant. Yet we I look around there are others with coffee that seems to be from outside places as well as water bottles from the Trump Hotel. When I questioned why I was being singled out the alleged manager goes well its just water. My reply was well its just coffee and I ordered another beverage which was orange juice as well as ordering about 40 bucks worth of food! Long story short we left but please don't eat here try out the Denny's on Lewers Street or Mac 24/7 these places are much friendlier. Also the Trump has a great breakfast buffett and a great staff! Couple months ago I went with a buncha friends to see what the whoop was about the hr long lines, only to find that there was no whoop. Please tourists, don't waste your time here. Locals, you already know. I dont get why people wait that long for breakfast when they can easily get it anywhere else! There's nothing special about the breakfast here. Customer service: I don't like the hosts much (who likes being yelled at or seeing japanese tourists being yelled at to get their attention). There's not much geniune aloha there. I much prefer the servers, they are much better at customer service. Food: The macadamia nut pancakes considering i don't like pancakes much. But I'm sure I can make better at home. Tip: If its a NEED TO experience, go early and beat everyone else to the line. Tip: Locals, you'll get better food at a cheaper price an KOA PANCAKE HOUSE! The restaurant now feels very corporate and has lost the charm it once had. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the establishment has taken a significant hit. The restaurant was dirty, and the bathrooms were in poor condition. The wait was incredibly long, so I highly recommend making a reservation online to avoid standing in line. Also, make sure you don't go to the wrong location. Once seated, I found the tables to be quite small, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. The food presentation was disappointing as well. The plates were plastic and cheap, which didn't help the overall feel of the meal. I ordered the loco moco, and it was way too salty. Overall, it's sad to see how much this place has declined. I hope they can improve their standards and return to their former glory. read more

We were there for brunch, around Noon on a Wednesday. I had an omelette w/ cheese, mushrooms, and onions. My side was potatoes. My wife ordered a waffle w/ Nutella and whipped cream w/ a side of spam. My omelette was perfect. Cooked the way I liked it with just the right amount of filling. The type of potatoes weren't specified when I ordered them, but when they came, I was thrilled... they were home fries, also cooked perfectly. My wife throughly enjoyed her waffle and spam. They offered her syrup to go with her waffle, but she didn't need it, due to the sweetness of the Nutella. The only down side is that you can put your name on the waiting list online, but it doesn't seem to do any good. You get your table based on arrival. This is why I deducted one star. read more

It's a little tight inside and out but that's okay! The atmosphere is amazing, the random chickens/roosters walking around makes it even better while you wait on your table. Typically in any place where you wait for a table it takes a while, however here the turnaround is fantastic! Granted I traveled alone for a couple of days but you better believe that I dined twice here for breakfast! The employees are sweethearts and they care for you like family. I believe the manager came by my table both times I visited and even told me "hey you're back" and which I responded "of course!" If you're in Oahu, Eggs 'n Things is a must-visit! I came here for breakfast and was blown away by how good everything was. The food came out hot and fresh, the portions were generous, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The real star, though? The coconut syrup. Hands down one of the best things I've ever tasted, it's sweet, creamy, and adds that perfect island touch to their already amazing pancakes. I wish I could've bottled it up and taken it home! A must-visit breakfast/brunch spot in Honolulu! The service here is top-notch. Even though there was a line outside, the wait was minimal--we were seated within 15 minutes. The Hawaiian chicken and waffles were absolutely delicious, and the Kalua pork Benedict with multicolored potatoes was a standout. Seating is available upstairs, with a spacious patio overlooking the street and plenty of indoor options as well. Update: the owner said to email them to let them know what happened. I emailed the email provided by owner and of course I got no response. They put in there to reach out like they care but I emailed him the same day and it's been over a week and no response. Proves my point that their customer service is horrible and treat people like crap. Take your business to other locals or even corporations who appreciate your business rather than this indifferent company/owner. The food is okay, bit overrated.... The staff were nasty and condescending on multiple occasions behind customers backs. I was wondering what was going on so I starting observing the waitstaff and noticed that they were only pleasant to non-white customers. I thought it was just me thinking this, until we went else where for meals. We went to go into a shop and an American white man said to us "I would advise you not to go in there, they don't like white people!" Then it all clicked.... Stop by for breakfast and was sent upstairs to dining room. Place was ok and no one greeted me. So went to find a seat. Lady came by 2 minutes later and said I sat myself. Well, no one was at entrance. Then sat there for 10 minutes and it was not busy. Saw 3 or more wait staff just walking around all grumpy. No one said hello or anything. 15 minutes later still no service or water. Decided to leave as I see they don't like Asian customers. Sad, advice, try somewhere they will appreciate your business. I don't know how or why a restaurant named eggs & things could be so utterly terrible. With all the hype we read about, we waited. When we were finally seated it took about 10 mins for a waiter to stop even though they passed us a few times. Our food finally arrived and it was a completely different order. They were out of kids menus but then expected me to know what was on the kids menu, giving me attitude because I didn't know the options for a plate of kids pancakes. Don't be discouraged by the long line because it is SO worth the wait. I'm from San Francisco so I'm a huge brunch person & if you're in Hawaii & looking to brunch THIS is the spot. I thought it was cool they offered Breakfast all day. My friend was almost going to get himself a Breakfast plate but he changed his mind last minute. They look like they have a great selection of sweet like Pancakes and savory like Loco Moco or Benedict's. This was located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Shopping Center so lots of tourists trying to find something to eat.
