Visited Eggy's with some friends during a recent visit to Chicago. We heard the line can get pretty lengthy, but we went around 9:30AM on a Saturday and were seated right away! The inside is pretty small, but we felt safely distanced from other guests. Decor inside is pretty modern, with a big chalkboard at the front with their daily specials and drinks listed, as well as modern Chicago prints on the wall. Eggy's menu is pretty extensive, so you really have to go in with your heart set on savory or sweet. I'm 100% more of a sweet breakfast gal, so I focused on that part of the menu. I ultimately decided on the crunchy Nutella French toast - French toast coated in bran flakes with Nutella, PB, and bananas, it sounded like a dream. While it was quite tasty, it was wayyy too sweet and just drenched in sauce, etc. I had about half and was stuffed from all the sweetness. The flavors were spot on, but I could have done without the sauce it was swimming in - maybe it was the bananas that caramelized or maybe it was the Nutella that over flowed - that just overpowered the dish. For someone who tolerates all sweets, it was just a bit too much. My fiancee went for the Oreo pancakes, which in theory sounded like they would be just as sweet, but comparatively were nearly a savory option! He really enjoyed the simplicity yet delectability of the dish. Our friends went for the banana pecan pancakes and the eggs Benedict, which they both enjoyed! My fiancee and I got drip coffee for our drinks which was pretty standard; however, they neglected to bring my fiancee's out at first, so had to request the second cup we ordered. Our friends both got lattes, which were nice, but again, our server neglected to bring the second latte, and it took a few requests in order to actually receive it. That being said, our actual dishes did come out extremely fast, especially for being a Saturday, but cannot say the same for the coffee. Overall, Eggy's made for a nice, filling brunch at not too steep of a cost. The portions were generous for the price, but I could have done with a little less sweetness and slightly more attention to my order. I was impressed with the size of the menu, so everyone is bound to find something they can enjoy. Next time, I'll definitely have to focus on savory options so that Eggy's can redeem themselves in my book! read more

The Florentine Benedict was excellent and the potatoes were tender and delicious. The Mexican skillet was perfectly spicy and also an excellent choice. The coffee and mocha were both very good also. our waitress was friendly and attentive. Fairly quiet, which is a nice break from the taverns and Grills playing mindless music overhead. Short story: Eggy's has yummy breakfast foods and the price tag isn't overwhelming. I'd definitely recommend it. Don't do: they have a QR code where you can scan the menu from your numbered table and have your order come right to you. Don't do this!! They drop off your food and never check on you. (My BF really enjoys apps and not dealing with people, so he thought it would be a good idea.) We went on a Tuesday morning, late-ish. So we didn't encounter any waits or lines, but I imagine you would if you went during normal breakfast/brunch "rush hours" you would. The staff was pleasant, though we didn't interact much, and the food was YUM! I had a breakfast plate w/ eggs, meat and pancakes. The BF had biscuits and gravy with meats and some scrambled eggs, I believe. The coffee was above par. If you're in the area and have the time, check it out! Just don't do the app thing. read more

Eggy's Diner is a classic spot that's been around for a while and had a classic diner feel. I really liked it! I ordered the Fruit Pancakes with whipped cream. I enjoyed the fact that they didn't stack them like most other breakfast places do. It was unique and actually made it easier to spread the toppings throughout all of the pancakes instead of just getting it on on the first one. Bravo! I also got some coffee and was comedically surprised when they brought an entire jug over for me to pour out the coffee for myself (it's like they KNEW I drink at least 4 cups with my breakfast ) really not complaining though. I drank every last drop in the pot. I'm giving this place a 10/10 for food, service and COVID-Precautions (they had a self-scan/play QR code on you bill! That's so smart!) My friend ordered a Mexican Skillet with a strong cheese pull game! I work in a nearby building and order take out a few times a month - always great! I usually get breakfast items, they have a great gluten free pancake. Food is also done quickly, I can order online and it's ready by the time I walk down to the restaurant. Lots of variety with breakfast and lunch items. read more

Great customer service, everyone working there was very nice and helpful. The coffee was just okay, nothing special and food was pretty solid. The pastry I ordered wasn't fresh, tasted very dry. We got eggs pancakes and toast. Nothing amazing but also not bad. read more

If you come here for one thing, come for the bloody mary. I love a good bloody mary and Eggy's does it RIGHT. Perfectly spicy and salty with tons of flavor! OH and you have to get a side of potatoes with that. Holy crap the potatoes. They were so tender and flavorful with the perfect about of crispyness. I wanted to love this venue so bad seeing the reviews, but was sorely disappointed. I ordered breakfast for delivery and paid a nice tip upfront not knowing whether the service would match or not. Unfortunately, with my food delivery there were no utensils, no condiments and no butter and syrup for the pancakes. Why?!?! That's what the upfront tip was for. It was paying it forward for hopefully getting great service. Eggy's please remember, if you want happy customers and you're asking for tips ahead of time for delivered food, please make sure to check all the boxes. Got this as a small side and loved it. Deep, complex flavor. Nice crunch from the tortilla. Eggy's Benedict - 2/5. Base was pretty plain, the pulled pork didn't add as much flavor as I hoped and I actually ate it without it. Hard to evaluate the egg given delivery but the overall dish felt flat and boring. Stuffed French Toast - 2/5. Plenty of strawberries and blueberries but the dish felt overly simple with just mascarpone, a simple french toast, fruit, and maple syrup. read more

We checked in ahead of time on the Yelp waitlist.. and waited around a bit before we headed to the restaurant - when we got there the girl at the counter told us they weren't using the waitlist and we had to wait in line for a table.. it was only about a 15 min wait so not terrible, but still kind of disappointing, wish they would have inactivated it for the morning or honored it. All of that being said our breakfast was pretty good. Between the 4 of us we ordered a 2 egg & bacon plate, cinnamon roll pancakes, a veggie scramble, and Nutella French toast. The French toast was definitely the star of the show. We also tried the regular and strawberry mimosa, the which chocolate mocha and a pumpkin spice latte, all were pretty good. Eggy's is the most typical soulless brunch spot that one can think of. Yet, I found the outdoor seating option both fun and interesting. Eggy's Diner is a brunch spot located in the Loop neighborhood of Chicago. Its location is a bit hidden as it caters more to residents of the nearby apartment complexes than the daily commuters and tourist crowds. Getting a spot here is easy given plenty of outdoor & indoor seating. I was able to get a seat immediately. The menu consists of everything that would exist at a brunch spot. Price is $$ which is what you'd expect at a typical brunch spot. I was hard-pressed to find a unique offering that stood out to me. Luckily, I was able to settle for Gyros Skillet which seemed to be popular among other reviewers. There's also a stocked bar with your typical brunch-spot options. I did not pay attention to the bar offerings as I was here to eat. Service left a bit to be desired. I sat indoors and there was one waitress that covered every single table. Though not her fault, it did take a considerable amount of time for me to get service. We waited a while to get refills on coffee, water, and to get our order taken (~30m). It wasn't a memorable experience for me and I doubt I would make it out of my way to eat here again. 3/5. Yet, for the innovative outdoor seating, I'll add an extra star and round this up to a 4/5. read more

After almost dying from making a mile trek through the wind tunnel that Chicago is, all I wanted more than anything was an IV drip of coffee... Eggy's was strangely hard to find in the shopping complex...the entrance that we entered through forced us to go through narrow hallways, stairs, elevators and then an outside exit to re-enter in on the correct side. Thankfully, despite it being prime brunch time, they immediately sat us!!! The waitress kept the coffee pouring and was very attentive even with having a full house. The menu had an incredibly variety of Tex-Mex, brunch skillets and omelettes, and even burgers and milk shakes. Now for the food. The pumpkin spice and raspberry butter pancake was anything but meant for a basic bih like me - it was out of this world!!! The pancakes texture was perfectly chewy and fluffy and the sweet and slightly tart butter amplified the flavors even more!!! I paid a bit extra to upgrade my pancake side to the PS one and man was that worth every penny - I didn't even need syrup it was so good. The Irish Skillet which was supposed to be the main dish actually ended up not being the highlight :( The heaping quantity was excellent but it was just a single note of salt and an overwhelming amount of potatoes. The corned beef was actually hard to find. Despite the flavor being lacking in the skillet, the pancakes, the perfect bite of light fluffly omelette I sampled from my friend, ever full cup of hot coffee, and sheer portion size made this place GREAT. read more

The Green Eggs & Ham with pancake side was very filling. The salsa added a good kick to the breakfast and the ham was flavorful. Pancake was a good ol' typical cake. Our Lyft driver had a bit of trouble finding the place, but thankfully after circling around once or twice, Eggy's was located. We added our names to the waitlist via Yelp. The wait was almost an hour long (YIKES!), but that's the price you pay we you try to brunch on a Saturday after 10:00 a.m. Once we were seated, though, all was well. Our waitress was attentive and quick. Our food was fresh and prepared well; the food came out quickly, too! I ordered the Biscuit Benedict, and it was EGGCELLENT! Yummmmmy! The biscuit was light and fluffy, and for a girl who is not a fan of eggs, the eggs were great, too! Oh, and the fried potatoes? Mama Mia! This is a great little diner across from our hotel at Blu Aqua. We had to wait about 30 mins to be seated on a Sat morning but probably less than Wildberry down the street. Found this gem by accident. Diner food was good (crepes). Coffee was fantastic. But the hidden gems were the Mexican-influenced breakfast items. The chilaquiles were especially amazing (think breakfast nachos for those unfamiliar). I got a breakfast burrito. I don't eat pork so I subbed the chorizo with turkey sausage which made me happy because a lot of restaurants I go to do not offer pork alternatives. It was okay.....nothing to really write home to mom about. I had the Florentine Panini and the juice from the chicken dripped on my fries making them soggy as well as the bread. The pickle wasn't crunchy like I expected it to be when I bit into it. For some reason my panini didn't come with a tomato even though I believe the menu says such and other paninis photographed on Yelp show tomatoes. I had to order one; which turned into them giving me 4 slices (wasted food ) I also had the soup of the day - broccoli/cheddar which was really good. Our waitress was at the front door picking her teeth with a toothpick on serval occasions instead of checking if we needed anything. Her alone got them this 3 star. The area is really cute with a park right out front. They do not validate for the garage attached to the building so be prepared to spend $12-24 for the restaurant visit if driving. read more
