The entire reason for an ordering system (point of sale terminal and displays over the prep area) is to quickly communicate the incoming orders to the food preppers. Unfortunately, this technological marvel of efficiency is mostly squandered as kitchen staff and order takers shout incessantly to each other attempting to clarify many (most?) orders. 'What is this bagel supposed to be?'...'I hit the wrong button on that order' etc. The result is low-level chaos and a knock-on effect resulting in delays in both the drive thru and the inside queues for even the simplest orders. There is no legislating for painfully slow customers and there are many of them here including the maddening types who want the entire menu and list of ingredients recited to them rather than reading the bleeding menu posted overhead while the queue waits helplessly behind them. The tables appear to have been last wiped down around the time of the grand opening of this location. Crumbs, smears, and spills are usually visible on most surfaces. The customers do their part in disposing of trash and returning baskets - a regular policing of the dining area is sorely needed especially during slow periods. It's a decent product if slightly overpriced and if we're being brutally honest the old house brand coffee was better than their new 'synergy' partner Caribou which has become the standard offering. Things could be improved through adequate staffing levels (somewhat beyond the control of management due to labor market) and improved training and/or processes (definitely within the control of management). read more

The young girl at the register argued with me about what I ordered in the drive thru and got extremely nasty with me about it. She told her staff that I definitely said cream cheese on my bagel and was refusing to correct the order. When my husband went back in because they still didn't toast our bagels after throwing them in the bag and dropping on the glass case, the employees were caught talking about me. NEVER coming back. I attempted to order bagels for my office for delivery on Monday morning. I selected 7am, trying to get ahead of the Monday morning rush and didn't think 2 dozen bagels was a huge order. About the time the order was to be delivered it was canceled. I called the store and they explained it was a technical issue and the manager was apologetic. He said if I placed the order again it would be received without a problem. I placed the new order as soon as they opened on Wednesday morning at 6am for 7am again, and once again the order was canceled. This location is ok. The service was not bad. They forgot our side of potato salad, twice. First time was when my friend picked it up for me through the drive thru. Even charged me for it on the receipt. Second time I went with a couple other people through drive thru. For myself I got the chorizo sunset. It was yummy. I normally go to South Blvd for breakfast but I have clients in South Charlotte so I eat lunch at the Ballantyne location and get lunch delivered for client meetings. They are really getting so much better with a new manager and staff. The last 10 times I've ordered almost all of the delivery orders were perfect except for some miscommunication on my part but I need to acknowledge the improvement because last year there were a few more mistakes! I have gone to this location for quite a few months now and I have to say it is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I always try to give it another chance thinking maybe they were having a bad day, but no. Every time I have gone in I experience terrible customer service to myself and every other customer. Today in particular I went through the drive thru and when I got to the speaker the worker says "yea," That's it. No greeting or what can I get for you, a simple "yea." When I pull up to the window the worker still says nothing. Sticks his hand out for my card and gives my card back, hands me my food and drives away. All while I am saying thank you and tell him to have a good day. This is not the first time it has happened either. If I choose to go into the location I am served by another cranky older lady. Who one time I watched her yell across the store that the gentleman in front of me had an allergy. When the gentleman asked for her not to yell that the worker was extremely rude and snippy with the customer. Quite frankly if I had an allergy I wouldn't want it yelled across the restaurant either. While standing inside I have also heard workers loudly making fun of those who are ordering in the drive thru as a line of customers inside are waiting to be helped. When I say its the WORST customer service ever, I truly mean it is the WORST customer service. Whoever the manager is at this location is truly failing as their staff is miserable and extremely rude to guests. Have had problems with Einstein in the past. Went over the weekend and I still find myself enjoying a bacon egg and cheese (Swiss) on a poppyseed bagel. I really love their fresh bagel selection. The vanilla hazelnut coffee is my favorite and now they started carrying caribou coffee which I think is great! They just need to keep an eye on when to refill them! read more

Einstein Bros Bagels is delicious. I love their cream cheese and their 6-Cheese Bagel... the problem is their management. I have been going to this location at least a year. I got addicted to the Peppered Bacon Melt when it was on the menu and have been paying about $8 for that bagel ever since. I probably get it 1-2x's a week, loyally...lol Don't judge me. About two months ago my bagel was input incorrectly and after finding out about 4 mi down the road, I decided I'd come back the next day and let them know. I couldn't even eat it the way it was prepared. The girl up front who knows my order by heart, explained to the manager that my bagel wasn't right and I didn't even eat it, and she offered me a 10% discount off my next bagel. 10% off of 8 bucks is not very impressive considering I didn't even get to eat the bagel... twice later I got bagels that had egg shells cracked into the egg. I'm not talking about one or two pieces... I am talking several bites taken and each bit had egg shell in it. I didn't even waste my time complaining because I didn't care to get another 10% discount. Today I finally went back, after avoiding this place for 3 weeks and my order was incorrect again. Instead of starting my bagel over, they tried to fix the incorrect one and it's absolute garbage. I do know they have a new manager... I can say that since this new manager came on board, quality and service has gone down greatly. My first experience at this location back in the fall was not so much. Unfriendly staff had to greet them before they greeted me. When I pulled into the parking lot trash was overflowing from the trashcan right next to the door. Definitely not a great first impression. This past Friday decided to give it another chance. Pulled into the lot saw the closed sign at 10 o'clock in the morning on a Friday. Was a bit perplexed. Almost drove off. It appeared someone forgot to turn the sign around. When I walked up to the counter there was an older woman with her head slumped down over the register I waited for approximately 30 seconds before she greeted me. I mentioned to her that the closed sign was turned around. Her response was "oh it's like that every day..one of the regular customers usually turns it around for us." Really? Additionally ,all the staff there appeared to be in a fog. No one was smiling no one had a sense of urgency. I was looking for the dark roast coffee which I was told was the far one on the right... how was I supposed to know ? Unlike the other flavors this one did not have a label. Other locations always have sugar in the raw. Not this location! This store is two blocks from my house would love to be a regular but They need to step up their game I will say the food and beverage products are excellent but there is clearly a lack of leadership and an a failure to focus on attention to the details. read more

We visited last Saturday Morning, Parking lot was Full... but still we ordered within 2 minutes, staff ( Zac ) was fabulous. I had turkey & Swiss on Hash brown Bagel.. it was fabulous! I've always been a fan of EBS, and now there's one conveniently located in my neighborhood!! Yes, I pulled up on Grand Opening Day and was one of the first 1000 to score a free travel mug!! Spinach Florentine is my absolute fave, especially with Sundried tomato cream cheese! Located in the old Backyard Burgers, and briefly, Ikos Aegean Grille, I can tell EBS is here to stay. Steady traffic all the time! Had the PM $5.00 bundle for lunch and almost tried the iced coffee instead of tea. Oh well, maybe next time when it's closer to 12 noon and I can afford another java jolt for the day! Nice parking, (can take advantage of all the bank lots across the street for any weekend overflow). Easy access in and out and very quick and friendly service. Went in on Sunday at 830am to grab breakfast with my husband and was pleasantly comfortable. Nice families looking like they rolled out of bed feeding their toddlers breakfast all still in jammies, the older ladies' running group in another corner. Dope little crowd. I have been here twice so the two stars is basically a culmination of those two visits. Both times I utilized the drive-thru. The first time I ordered a plain bagel with salmon cream cheese. The line was about 8 cars but I assumed they would move it right along. Wrong. I spent about 20 minutes in the ​cue. When I arrived at the window I asked the gentleman, "short staffed". Probably not the thing he wanted to hear if indeed he was short staffed. He apologized for the wait. I ate my bagel and was not disappointed. It had the right texture, nicely chewy. What I did find disconcerting​ was the ultra lightweight​ to the bagel. I have had many bagels and most I have enjoyed were heavier in weight. This one seemed like a lot of air. Not air pockets but just lots of air. I had a hankering​ again for bagels so I visited them a second time. For this visit I ordered a six-pack​k with a tub of cream cheese. Around $10 so not too bad. The service was extra good. The attendant at the window was courteous and quick. I got home and took out a bagel (still warm) and spread some cream cheese. Once again, AIR. The whip up this cream cheese so that most of it is air. Who like it this way? I want thick cream cheese. This time the bagels seemed different and not an improved different. I just felt like they were mass produced somewhere and shipped to the store. I remember visiting a Brueggers previously and their bagels seemed more authentic.
