I used to love Einstein Bagel's lunch sandwiches but their portion sizes have shrunk and there's no quality control. I ordered a ham and swiss sandwich to go a few months ago, when I got home my sandwich had 3 teeny, tiny slices of ham on it (see pic below)! That sandwich was maybe big enough for a child, maybe. I couldn't believe my eyes, I paid $8 for this? What a waste of money and I was still hungry after it was gone. I called them to complain; the manager admitted my sandwich was made incorrectly, apologized, and put my name on a list to come back for a free sandwich. Went back a month later, told the cashier my name was on the list, got my free sandwich, and headed home. I thought for sure this sandwich was going to rock (cause my name was on the complaint list for my last crappy sandwich), nope, half my sandwich had the same 3 slices of meat, the other half had NONE! Very disappointed recently with this location! Received the wrong order, traveled to work, realized error, went back. En route, tried calling 6 times without an answer. Arrived and the manager Veronica shrugged her shoulders, smirked and said, "sorry, we're busy" then walked away. The woman in front of me let one of the staff members know they were out of coffee (3 pots empty!) and the employee said, "we'll get to it in a while". She immediately asked for the manager and got her money back from her order. This store has been deteriorating for a while, but this is a mess. If 3 people in line constitutes being so "busy" that they can't get their act together, there are bigger problems here. Veronica made my order and gave it to one of the employees to give to me. I was standing right in front of her watching, and she never once looked in my direction. Very sad. Another customer gone! read more

This is usually one of my favorite places to get bagels especially when they have their bakers dozen deal on Mondays! I decided to stop by on a Monday and the young gentlemen who individually wrapped my cinnamon sugar bagels was very nice. Except when I got home. I toasted my blueberry bagels, they smelled delicious but the taste was a little strange. IT WAS SALTY. As if someone sprinkled salt all over the top. OK its not their fault, it is my fault. It is my fault for going to this location again. The problem is that when you want a bagel and they are the closest place you stop by. This is the worst Einstein's I've ever been to. They never fail to disappoint me! They are always out of onion bagels (I suppose 10:00 am is too late to expect an onion bagel on a Sunday). The food is usually good but the service is awful. We called in an order and arrived 30 minutes later and they hadn't even started it. I paid for my order and got some coffee and waited. After almost 30 more minutes, I asked if they could look into my order. IT WAS SITTING IN THE SHELF!!. I like Einstein's but I wish there was another one in my area. If you choose to come here, you're better off going through the drive thru. The customer service inside is not great, however it seems to cater towards those going through the drive thru. Unfortunately, I had to order twice as because I dropped one of my bagels. Sadly the individual who took my order never got my name correct, both times mind you. So now, there's an awkward moment with the individual bringing out the order because I'm sure they have my food, yet they're not calling my name. What the hell happened to this place? They were awesome when they first opened up, great staff and never screwed up my order. As of late, someone fumbles every time I order something now....what gives!? The iced mocha I got earlier this week was...I dunno what it was made with, but it certainly wasn't good. It's as if their pre-made mocha mix went bad. Tasted horrible and it's my own fault for not trying it while still in the shop (was running late for work). My bagel barely had any cream cheese, which was annoying considering what it cost by the time I left with that an my drink. Meh. Today, ordered a few things for some coworkers since I pass Einsteins on my way to work. I called the order in, had the gal confirm my order (specifically made sure that the bagels got plain cream cheese) and picked it up about 15 minutes later. It all looked good (wasn't going to unwrap every bagel) the register screen reflected my order, paid and rolled out. Got to work and my turkey cheddar bagel looked...uh....gelatinous. I didn't know what to make of it. Ended up getting sick a short while later, so thanks for that. My co-workers bagels? Apparently instead of plain cream cheese, they slathered them with jalapeño salsa smear. WTF? I didn't even know that was available / offered there. No one wanted their bagels because that smear was way too spicy ( the majority of us aren't NM peeps). So, I got to eat that cost since none of them wanted the bagels and wanted their money back. I can't blame them. This was the last straw for me. As you can see, I was the first to review this place and loved it. Now I'm so aggravated, especially with what I'm considering food poisoning, that I don't want to go here anymore. VERY unfortunate. I went here at 07:00 on a Friday morning to get bagels for the work crew. 18 to go, three tubs of cream cheese, and - OUT! Excellent, fast service. I loved the look of the place, too. The dining room has some tables, a counter, and several comfortable looking chairs near the windows. I definitely had to return with the husband for coffee, bagels and newspaper on the weekend. Cue the scary music - NOOOOOOO, don't do it! We went in the next day, Saturday, at about 11:00. How did so many people get in there? Kids all over the place, feet on chairs, screaming, crying, running around, picking at thier bagels and throwing pieces on the floor, then everyone just gets up and walks away. There is nobody working at a bagel place, or any other fast food establishment, who is getting paid enough to pick up the food your unsupervised child threw on the floor! It's like parents think that because it is fast food, their kids don't have to behave. Get it together, people. Anyway, all those things not really in control of the staff. However, they lost our order. We waited forever and then they just skipped us. When we went up to suss it out, we had to remind them what it was. What's the computer and screen for? Can't you scroll back and see our order? Evidently not. Then they brought it out with a sheepish "sorry", and that was that. I mean, in my life this is not one of those slights that I'll carry with me forever, but it kind of sucked and cast a pall over the whole experience. And when I'm eating a 280 calorie asiago cheese bagel, it had darn well better be a great all around experience. I don't waste those kinds of carbs every day. read more

The food's okay but in order to get it, you have to go through so many hoops. The woman managing the call window and pay window was spectacularly unhelpful today. I sat at the call box for almost 5 minutes before saying "Hello?" - thinking maybe they aren't open. They were open. Then once I ordered and paid, they forgot to give me the bagels. I thought they were slicing them, and thought, I'm not going to honk. I'm just going to patiently wait. Six minutes later, (yes I turned my engine off though it was 100* out) she opens the window and brightly greets me. You could see the horror pass over her face as she realized she never gave us our bagels. She hands me the box. I ask for a receipt. "Oh our machine is down," she says. Sure. Sure it is. I have given more chances that I should have. It's unfortunate that this is the only location near where I work, since this is the only location I have had these issues with. I haven't been here much yet, but today I entered the store and it was smoky like something burned in the toaster. I ordered a Tasty Turkey, a trio of chocolate chip smearfuls, and redeemed a loyalty reward for a free bagel & shmear. When I saw my receipt, I noticed the trio, advertised at the counter for $2 till Mother's Day, was rung up as $3.99 (I assume regular price). They seemed busy so I didn't bother getting the pricing error corrected. Then they said they were out of the Asiago bagels for my Tasty Turkey. Ugh. That's my favorite sandwich. Oh well. Trusting their judgement, I told them they can sub it with whatever would taste good. My order came out soon after that. First time going to an Einstein's that wasn't near/on UNM and I'm pretty grossed out by my breakfast bagel. Pros: -My used chai tea latte was pretty good... Cons: -If it's between 7-9am you're probably not going to be able to see the menu from outside. The material on the giant menu causes a huge glare. -my bagel tasted like plastic?? It smelled like burning plastic too... I couldn't finish eating it. Tasted funky as well. -Drive thru worker didn't listen very well. Had to repeat myself a few times at the drive thru, then at the window she yelled "WHAT" at me even though I didn't say anything. One star for the pleasant people who work here, but this place is a disaster when it comes to management and upkeep. Every single day you have to ask the help for something that should be stocked at the bar and constantly checked as they are essential to a coffee house (this happens whether they are busy or not)--honey, sugar, cream, and even the coffee. Things happen, but every day? This place is run so inefficiently it is a drag to come here, finding another place where I can at least have real cream for my coffee (none of that in this place today). read more

Love the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast bagels! Not a huge fan of having to repeat my order 3 times at the drive-thru. It's a running joke now; when I request crispy bacon we wager on whether or not she will say "turkey bacon?" and also if she will blame it on the wind that she mistook my request. (Some days, yes, it is windy. Not every day). Anyway, food is generally very good. The prices are a little ridiculous. We generally end up paying $20+ for 3 bagels, 1 soda, and 1 coffee when we visit. If my schedule ever permits regular grocery shopping, we will likely hit the grocery store and save on the 200% mark up they're charging for preparing our bagels. *UPDATE* ( 6/6/2015 ) Apparently the drive-thru customers have priority over the people standing in front of the counter. I made my way inside this time in order to avoid repeating my order several times in the drive-thru. 13 cars have gone through the drive up window as I stand here in the dining room waiting for my order for 20 minutes now. I used to love going to this Einstein but it has certainly gone downhill. They used to be meticulous about cleanliness and customer service, but not anymore. I know the coffee company was changed company wide but now the iced tea is not drinkable. They have several flavors that all taste alike. They don't make very much at a time so often you have to wait while they make it. I am not a coffee drinker so the iced tea is important to me but it doesn't seem to be so to Einsteins anymore. They used to have the best iced tea around. If you go any later than 11, they are often short on bagels. What happened Einsteins??? read more

Every time I've been here the food has been great. But I guess good things can't last too long. I ordered my usual turkey, bacon & avocado and when I got it the lunch meat was disgusting. It was like eating processed turkey gel that had almost no taste. It was extremely disappointing considering their lunch meat was such good quality not 3 weeks ago. The cheese wasn't even melted on the farmhouse sandwich and the bacon was so cold it was still hard. Everything had to be reheated and the servers acted like it was a big deal. I have never had a problem here. The new Mac and cheese breakfast sandwich was delicious, the chicken one felt too heavy for a breakfast item. I really love their French toast breakfast sandwich. Today, I ordered an iced chai and it seemed too spicy, then the iced coffee I replaced it with didn't quite taste right either. I'm not sure if I woke with a strange pallet or if they didn't make the mixes quite right. Either way, the staff is friendly and always willing to make up their mistakes. read more

This location always gets at least one thing wrong. It doesn't matter what employee helps you, something will be wrong with the order. It's always pretty slow, in fact once I left because I sat at the drive-up window for 5 full minutes (after ordering), completely unacknowledged. I had ordered 2 bagels. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I have said several times in store that they need to do something in regards to the drive through more often then not they have a person at the window another person at the ordering screen I don't know if it is to save on ticket times but they end up filling up the whole entire parking lot.
