My first time ordering from here and it was a great experience. I placed my order through Grubhub it was the Salvadorian-style steak with rice, beans and mashed potatoes. It was amazing! They drench it in this savory sauce it tastes like sofrito maybe i'm wrong but it was off the chain also it comes with cooked onions & peppers. I don't know what they put in that sauce but they got me hooked. Also delivery was pretty fast. Definitely will order again! read more

I came for the regional cuisine of El Salvador. The "I love Pupusas" t-shirts that the waitresses were wearing made me order 3 (revueltas) chicharon y queso. By looking at the rest of the menu it seems that you can feed an army at bargain prices and probably more efficient than the department of veteran affairs. The Pupusas came piping hot (National dish of El Salvador, it sort of like a thick corn tortilla stuffed either pork, cheese, beans, loroco, Etc.) although not the best I ever had but still decent. The servers were attentive and nice. The restaurant needs a little love but if don't mind eating at diners, drive-ins, and dives.... El Atlacalt is cheap and good. read more

I wanted to love this place, I really did. Being Salvadoran, I always love to support my people. I'm from the DC area, where Salvadoran restaurants are plentiful, delicious, and affordable. I was hoping that would translate to Miami as well. I found this place on Yelp, and despite some critical reviews, decided to give it a try as I was in the mood for some pupusas. I arrive to the place and am seated. Starving, I placed an order of tacos in as she took a drink order. And that's the last i saw of her for thirty five minutes. I've worked in the service industry before and I get things happen, but THIRTY FIVE MINUTES to come back and take my order? That's ridiculous. The restaurant was decently crowded but not packed. She didn't bother to refill my water or even lie and tell me she's swamped. I had to wait so long to place my order and when she finally came out, the tacos were cold. I should have followed my gut instinct and left, but I really wanted pupusas so I put an order in while my boyfriend ordered the carne asada medium. we wait another half an hour (this time i was willing to forgive the wait) and when we get our food, i was brought the wrong pupusas and forgot half of my boyfriend's order, as they forgot to bring him his sides they also overcooked his steak, which he wasn't pleased with. Now, i'm a human garbage disposal but even I couldn't stomach the meat. i ate what was in front of me because i knew i would have to wait a million more years before getting attention. when it came time to pay, nobody came to get my card so I went in and asked for someone to ring me up. a rather rude waitress with awful lipstick and a worse attitude didn't even bother to acknowledge me before saying something to another waitress about how i needed to be helped. i hope this woman loses her job soon, as she was so negative and nasty and paid no attention to any of the customers. my waitress finally rang me up and i left, disappointed, dismayed, and disillusioned at the fact that Miami's Salvadoran restaurant scene is severely lacking. also, i know there aren't as many salvadorans in Miami as there are in other parts of the country, but to charge over $3.00 for ONE pupusa is a robbery. the only bright spot at this restaurant was the parking attendant, who was absolutely courteous, friendly, and quick. perhaps he could teach the waitresses a thing or two. read more

Food was decent, but service was terrible- we ordered delivery, and they took two hours to deliver (I was told to expect 45-60 minutes). I understand things get busy, but notification that my food was going to take so much longer is not so much to ask for. They got the order wrong, (the receipt was right, they just didn't put everything we ordered in it). We called back and informed them, they apologized and said that the rest of our food would be coming very soon, and.... nothing. I ordered two cheese & loroco pupusas, which were served this time, squished and reheated by a panini...NOT FRESHLY MADE AND COOKED! Not withstanding, my daughter insisted I take two more home, and to my dismay, these too are squished by their panini grill...THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! I lived in El Salvador 50 years...and I can detect a freshly made pupusa from a reheated one. I did not see the owner there, who always waves back...his presence is missed. This place is your greatest opportunity to have authentic and tasty Salvadorean food in Miami-Dade. This place was unbelievable. The service was very friendly, and I had the best Salvadorean beer I have ever had. I will get back to you on the name, it has slipped my mind. But, El Atlakat has an unbelievable steak dish with fried eggs on it and a delicious rice. Their bread and appetizers were unbelievable. YUM! I've had Salvadorean food plenty of times with my native beau, but this was by far the best. He had pupusas; he normally only likes them homemade but he loved these. Terrible service! I don't recommend this place at all. Created an order for delivery through Yelp (fulfilled by GrubHub). Order was simple: fajitas and tacos. I called the restaurant to follow up on the order when it had been about an hour and a half after the creation of the order. The person on the phone was not helpful at all just insisting food had left the restaurant. Called again after 10 minutes again to follow up and was hung up on. I called right back and explained wanting an answer and that it was almost two hours since order was placed. I was told they would get the manager to speak with me but instead same person came back on the phone and said it would be seven minutes for arrival. Lies! Order never arrived so I called GrubHub. When they called the restaurant and updated me, they informed me that delivery never left the restaurant and that they did not have a delivery. What??? Never again. read more

STOP! Don't order until you read this. This was by bar-none THE WORSE FOOD I have ever ordered in my life. I ordered cheese, been and meat pupusas and it was unknown to my palette that the only ingredient was BEANS. No cheese, no meat. It was flavorless and soggy. The next item was an "enchilada" which was a burnt fried corn tortilla of "carne asada" that was stale and the tortilla fell apart the minute we took a bite becoming immediately inedible as it became crumbs of bland and unidentified food items. I ordered a shrimp and crab soup which honestly am afraid to taste. And they give you garnishes and sauces in messy little plastic bags that burst open and spill all over the place when you open them. Hasn't this restaurant heard of little plastic containers with lids? What an unpleasant experience it is to have sauces and garnishes spill all over your hands, clothes, counter-top, floor, everywhere by goodness! I have never experienced such a terrible dinning experience in Miami where you encounter thousands of restaurants with delicious food. Needless to say I will never order from here again. If you're looking for a pupusa de loroco y queso, this is the best one you'll find in Miami. I tried the now-defunct Pupusa Factory and it left a lot to be desired. There aren't too many places around here these days for a good pupusa, and this place does their job quite well. toppings are super authentic and delicious. I virtually high-five El Atlacatl. Also, one pupusa is super filling and not even $3. So, there's that, too. A second high five, Atlacatl, for filling me with delicious food and drink (tamarind juice!) for $5. Superb Latin restaurant at a reasonable price. Upon sitting you are greeted with a glass of water, chips and dip, and a 3 sample appetizer/sauce platter. The meals come with a great choice of sides.
