I came here twice during my trip to PV. I couldn't get enough of their home made chips and salsas that they brought to the table. Their ceviche was great. It was a Peruvian style. Cocktails at good prices, beach front location with even an option to dine on the beach. We came for dinner on a Monday night and while the food was not bad, I was appalled by the cleanliness of the restaurant. The entire bar was stacked with dirty dishes. It was probably the whole afternoons worth as it was A LOT. It was just a very ugly situation that shouldn't have been in the first place. Try the Peruvian ceviche! read more

What a massive disappointment. Let's get the positive (Singular) thing out of the way really quick: The location is nice, good look out at the beach and was walking distance from my hotel. The Negatives: Restaurant is super crowded, you can literally touch elbows with the person sitting on the other table, which was fine by me, but something to note of, in case you care. We ordered the shrimp ceviche for appetizers, it was fine (nothing too crazy, I mean you can't really mess up ceviche, it's not cooked lmao) For our main course, we got fish tacos and A ribeye steak with shrimp. Food took a minute to come out, which was fine since it was packed. Having ordered a steak at a number of restaurants in the past, this was the first one that plated their while steak (not cut) on a dinner plate. Kind of wierd, but I ignored that and carried on with tasting it. I knew the steak would be a disappointment by how it looked, cooked unevenly and the crust was non-existent. I asked for a medium well, they sent me one that was rare. Upon asking to get it upto the specified temperature, they placed the whole plate (literally with everything, including the fries, shrimp and ketchup), into the oven and left it there for a good 5-7 mins. I knew the result would be a disaster, are you kidding me? How long does it take to take the steak out into a skillet/pot and place it in the oven? Steak tasted under seasoned, gamey and overall just bad. Oh let's talk about the 3 shrimp they add on top of your steak, as your other entree (lol). Yeah, 3 small sized shrimp, literally barely boiled with some garlic on top. That did not taste well. By the time I got the plate back, the fries had been overcooked, so that went to waste as well. Absolute disgrace of a steak/shrimp entree, hoenstly that shouldn't even be on the menu if you can't cook it well. The fish tacos were mediocre, you can literally go down a couple blocks and find so many other places that serve you some great tacos. For the money they charge you, you're better off going elsewhere, where the food will definitely be better, but you might also not be paying as much. Do not recommend El barracuda at all! read more

The food was absolutely amazing. Had the grilled lobsters and the fried snapper! One of the best lobsters Dinners I've had. A must try!

Located right on the beach! Had the red snapper, Baja shrimp tacos and shrimp Tacos al pastor. We absolutely loved everything! Guac could have used a little more salt or lime juice. Try the jalapeño margarita type drink (I can't remember the name of it) it's very unique and good. read more

This is our friends favorite place and it is usually our first stop when we arrive in PV. The owner is one of the most friendly gentleman I met in his business. He will do anything possible to please and pretty much no is not in his vocabulary. This trip he accommodated a group of 10 French individuals as we were all watching the European cup of Soccer. the entire staff was very patient during the highs and lows of the championship' Some of the best margarita you'll ever find, the best service and to top it all the food is incredible. 5 star view/location and 4.5 star food (at least what we had). We tried the molcajetes with shrimp, which is a cheesy saucy dish. I liked it, but my date loved it, so I'm rounding up. We were staying at the Grand Luxxe Vidanta and wanted to get out enjoy the local food. We are an active family that enjoys exploring, but for some it will be a bit of a walk. From Tower 4, it was probably a 20-25 minute walk and you can only take a shuttle part of the way. Just put on your walking shoes and wait for it to cool off. Head for the Mayan Palace/Grand Mayan and walk to the beach. Take a right towards the marina. When you get to the Sea Garden, walk through it to the entrance. Take a left and walk back towards the marina. It's basically to the right of a small intersection. Just a minute or two from Sea Garden. The area feels safe even as it was getting dark. FYI, the Vidanta doesn't really want to help you spend your money elsewhere, so just keep asking for the Sea Garden. You can't take a shuttle there though. Once we got to El Barracuda, we quickly got margaritas and chips and salsa and garlic bread. Everything we ordered was delicious. I think the coconut shrimp with mango dipping sauce was the best though. In my opinion it was definitely worth the trip. The prices were very reasonable, especially coming from the Vidanta. The staff was fantastic. Super friendly and willing to please. We were stuffed when we left, so walking home felt good. You can always take a taxi as well. There are a couple convince stores and a pharmacy on the way if you need anything too. If you don't mind the walk, you won't regret it! read more

I went in at 2pm asking for a table for one. My bf wasn't feeling well. I read the reviews and saw the patio/ beach area and thought how nice. I was abruptly asked.... Do you have reservations?! I said no I don't. The waiter said rudely we have the entire restaurant having a private party. I said yea ok. I understood and moved on. Then I walked by and saw different groups and parties. So curiosity struck. I went in hours later and asked if the private event was over. Another waiter said no as if confused. I said there's no private party as I was told earlier? She said no why? For whatever reason I was turned away and I am disappointed. I wanted to try this restaurant but my money will be spent somewhere else. No thanks! read more

Their whole Huachinango (red snapper) fish is amazing. They have a good beer selection as well. Location and views: 5 stars. We sat at table on the beach and we're able to dig our toes into the sand and watch the sunset. Food/Drinks: 4 stars. We got the fish tacos and surf n turf tacos, both were good but not great. The tacos were bland and had to be saved by heavy salsa. The mediocre food was saved by the good drinks, which would be 5 stars on their own. I loved the cucumber margarita, it was light and refreshing. Service: 5 stars. Came here for lunch with my family in October for the first time and we loved the food and drinks! The place only has outdoor seating. Great for lunch or dinner. You can come dressed casual, nothing fancy. We came in shorts, tanks, and sandals. We first ordered drinks, the Maracuya (passionfruit) margarita was amazing, we each had about 2-3 drinks. I ordered for food their grilled fish tacos and it was very good and fresh. I do not remember what the rest of my family ordered, but we all really liked the food and would definitely come back here when visiting and recommend to others. read more

A great little beachside place, a bit out of the way. El Barracuda, and neighbouring El Solar serve bottled local microbrews from Minerva. I have drank a whole lot of the Mexican microbrews while here and found this to be a great treat. Very good beer. The watermelon margarita is also very tasty, but better when blended. We requested the drink to be blended the first time and it was spectacular. The second time we went we forgot, and found it to be a bit sweet....until adding more and more ice for melting. Food and service very good. I had the barracuda, foil and palm leaf wrapped. Fish tacos were nicely prepared. I am holding off on going back until we have checked out a few more places. read more

Well we walked into a packed Barracuda at sunset and reluctantly waited, fearing that this was the worst of tourist cuisine - a room of young, drunk travelers. But boy are we glad we waited, as it was a perfect night. Seaside dining with a upmarket grill menu. The shrimp was amazing and perfectly broiled, the steak simply prepared but totally on point, with perfectly crisp frites. The ocean-side ambiance and candlelight was magic, and the impromptu fire-throwing performance was stellar. Our waiter was an understated pro, perfect nonchalant service as if he didn't even know it was a restaurant. There isn't a restaurant in PV better than this. The tables are in the sand, or inside the restaurant just over the sand. The food is incredible and very reasonably priced. We went to their newer place in Nuevo Vallarta....2 nights in a row. The food was great, the pequin hot sauce was one of the best I've ever had. We tried the cilantro fish (YUM), fish tacos, sashimi (twice), and cheese chicarron for an appetizer. The prices are a bit steep for what you get, but factor in the beach view and it's a winner. Excellent location, right on the beach. Sadly, for me, some of the most disappointing Mexican food I had in PV. The fish tacos, while very fresh, were bizarrely under seasoned, and full of bagged salad (carrots, red cabbage, lettuce) that distracted from any flavour of the (under-seasoned) fish. Considering the inflated price too, this was a real disappointment. Good service, though, and a nice place for a day or evening beer. Just eat before or afterwards at the awesome street taco stands, for a fraction of the price, that are numerous in the neighbourhood. read more
