What took me so long to try this truck!!! I've seen them on TikTok and IG and even saved it in my "I want" folder. We decided to swing by on a Tuesday to partake in their Taco Tuesday $2 tacos!!! Lots of meats to choose from but we ordered suadero, al pastor and chicharron tacos. We were so pleased with our order. Al pastor and suadero were well seasoned. The chicharron was crispy and everything you want in a chicharron! These look like really small tacos but they were so filled with meat that after your 3rd taco you're tapping out. Did I mention the tortillas are handmade. Parking is scarce so try to time your visit around what would be peak times. We got there by 5:15 and there were only 3 people ahead of us. By 5:30 there was a long line. There are a few wooden picnic tables to be able to "dine-in." They have a serve yourself salsa bar and both red and green are delicious! My friend and I came on the 5th (Cinco de Mayo) for their $1 taco deal. I love beef so I got 4 beef (asada) and 1 pork (pastor). I usually don't get pork or chicken because I feel like majority of the places I've tried are pretty dry. The line was really long and it took us about 2 hours to get our food and get out. I would definitely come back in the future because the pork was really flavorful and juicy. It wasn't dry at all. Beef was very close to being dry, but the sauces saved it. My friend was hella influenced by social media lol. So we came here for the chicharron, but ended up getting 2 tacos one asada, the other suadero. First, get there a little early or just park near the park and walk because its hella crowded in the area. They have benches, but there's also an inside portion with AC that helped on that hot ass day lol. Also with a bathroom! The chicharron was hella good, we didnt need the other tacos. Locally-run taco truck that now has two standalone locations in San José; one at Parkmoor by the Harley shop which is a truck, and this (kinda) brick-and-mortar on Monterey Rd at the old Advance Auto Tech shop. This location, while not a true brick-and-mortar shop, does have indoor seating inside the building while the cooking is done outside in a fairly large trailer. The Good: *As mentioned above, indoor dining. *Outdoor dog-friendly seating (no shade, tho) *Friendly service *Ordered the Birria tacos and they were decent, albeit a little dry. It's a bit odd that they make you pay extra for consomé, as that should be fairly standard for a birria taco, but whatever. It is worth noting that if you get the 3 birria taco combo you do get a free consomé, but I wasn't hungry enough to handle three. =/ *They had Strawberry Agua Fresca which they allowed me to combine with their Horchata to make one of my favorite combos. Quick tip if you have Inkind you can get your tacos about $2.65. if you purchase their credit. This makes those $4 tacos a little cheaper. I'll be quick for your convenience. TJ tacos are unique in that they add guacamole sauce. They also wrap the tacos. You'd think there would be less meat, but it's the opposite. Tons of meat in a single order and I was satisfied with just 3 TJ tacos. At typical taco trucks, I usually order 5 tacos! I love the indoor seating option. It's warmer inside during the cold winters. Was at The Plant doing some Christmas shopping and running errands in the area when I spotted this truck. There wasn't anyone in line when I ordered, but after I got my food a lot of people started coming. I got an asada and pastór taco. I didn't know what TJ style was, but glad I do now because I the guac was pretty good. The carne asada was flavorful, but the meat was on the tougher side. Still super good though. I didn't care for the pastor because it was sweet, but the seasoning was on point with a barbecue flavor and I can see why people would like the pastor here. Both tacos were filled with a good amount of meat. Tortilla was soft, but I wanted more masa flavor and the texture was ok. I think it's because it only had one tortilla instead of two. This food truck was highly disappointing. The tacos were packed on top of each other making the tacos wet and unappealing. Surprisingly most of the chips were stale and some were inedible.
