It's our go to place in Cocoa Beach for Peruvian Ceviche and causa's. Small unassuming with a chef absolutely dedicated to fishing and seafood. After our latest lunch I asked the chef what was he eating. He answered it was the fish that he had caught on the weekend. Lomo Saltado was flavorless and the beef was chewy. In addition to beef, onions and tomatoes I also found plenty of the cook's hair in the dish. He doesn't wear a hat, just pulls his sweaty hair into a ponytail. Pretty disgusting meal. read more

What a GREAT new addition to the area. Located in the Publix plaza (north of 520) this Peruvian restaurant offers the best ceviche I've had in years. We had the Ceviche Mixto, which included grouper, calamari and shrimp. Yum. We also tried the Seco De Res, which was fantastic. Great Peruvian meat dish, with rice and beans. For an app with had the Choritos al la Chalaca, mussels on the half shell with a ceviche-type topping. That could have been a lunch by itself. Only negatives were a less-than average iced tea, no sweet iced tea available, and the atmosphere was just a few photos of fish catches on the wall. Some Peruvian flare would have been nice. But otherwise, great food, great service. They do have WIFI. read more

We were out of town and trying to find a place to eat that could accommodate 10. This place is small but amazing!!! We ordered a good sampling of the menu and it was all wonderful. The ceviche was perfectly balanced the beef stew was good and tender. My husbands fish was cooked just right. We ordered the seafood appetizer and it was fried so I was a bit concerned as I'm not overly fond of fried food but it's all pan fried and not deep fried so it was light and crispy. Don't pass up the sauces. Not sure which I liked the best. Don't let the location (strip mall) scare you off it is worth the try. read more

Visited for 1st time this evening. All staff were very welcoming, especially Carlos, who was very personable and efficient. If you are seafood lovers like us, you'll be pleasantly overwhelmed by the plentiful menu options. We chose to share the mixed ceviche (medium-spicy), chicken/shrimp, and grilled fish entrees (plus wine and salads) for $58. The flavors of all the plates were perfect - we couldn't pick a favorite (fish, shrimp, squid, chicken) as they were all cooked and flavored spectacularly, for a decent price. Sorry for the sideways pics ‍ went to El Buzo on Monday for my hubby's Birthday and it did not disappoint. Located in a shopping center in Cocoa Beach it looks small and plain but the flavors inside are huge! My husband does not eat seafood but this was a great choice because he dined on a Churrasco steak that was excellent and I had the Tiraditos Tradicional. I had never heard of Tiraditos but was informed that it was like Ceviche but thinly sliced instead of chunks. The fish was fresh, citrus tangy, a little bit of spice for flavor and a drizzle of olive oil. It was enchanting and I can't wait to return. We had two children with us and they chose hand made chicken nuggets- but we actually had to order a second churrasco after one of the kids (8 yr old nephew)tried my husband's dish and was begging for steak. My 5yr old niece wanted juice- which they were out of, but was offered a sample of a sweet purple corn drink and she liked it enough to choose that in lieu of juice. We ended the evening with a Peruvian pudding served in wine glasses with a lady finger on the side. It was sweet but the whipped cream helped cut some of the sweetness and we devoured it. El Buzo- Cocoa Beach - 4.275 Stars El Buzo, in Spanish means The Diver. They first opened in Peru after Owner/Chef Bruno became a national diving champion. Thankfully, it didn't take a miracle to get "The Diver" out of his native Peru and onto Floridian soil, it just took a buyer for his original El Buzo restaurant in Lima about 20 years ago. If not for this, Chef Bruno never would have been able to relocate to Orlando, FL and open up his new El Buzo Restaurant. After becoming established as a wonderful example of Peruvian cooking there, Chef Bruno was able to open a new "sister" store in Cocoa Beach. As with the original establishment in Peru, and the American mother ship in O-town, the new El Buzo specializes in fare from the sea and continues to use the recipes Bruno brought with him from Peru a lifetime ago. As the new place Beach side is situated in a Publix anchored shopping center (honestly, what isn't?) it was hard to give any credence to what the parking lot may or may not indicate awaited me inside. Stepping into Chef Bruno's new abode one immediately feels at home. The fans twirl slowly like Rick's Cafe American and the interior is well lit, sparkly clean, run with the efficiency of a Navy Destroyer and still had that "new restaurant" smell. And, just as importantly, unlike their cousin's from Brazil, Brasas Grill in Cocoa, I found the understated techno style here to not be as offensive as the blaring unpleasant crap Brasas was inundating their patrons with at dinner. It's called background music for a reason people! After being seated and handed a menu, our waiter, Carlos, soon approached to see what he could do for us. Carlos was absolutely amazing in every way and I found him to be much too intelligent and personable to be working in the service industry and hope it is just a stepping stone for him to go on to bigger and better things. I could wane on for days about Carlos, but that would be skipping the food review and that is the reason we are here in the first place. To that end, I placed an order with Carlos for some of their Ceviché Mixto (fish, calamari and shrimp) and a plate of Lomo Saltado (marinated strips of skirt steak). When a place becomes well known, or even famous, for a specialty one expects it to be the best example of said specialty to be found. I was not let down by El Buzo's Ceviché Mixto. Specializing in food from the oceans for over 20 years has lead to the creation of some of the best, if not the best Ceviché I have ever had the pleasure of stuffing in my face. While not of the highest caliber ingredients, the flavor was spectacular and I found the citrus to be perfectly paid in the raw elements and the corn nuts are made from real corn. This is 5 Star Ceviché all day long. If you are ordering Ceviché anyplace else, stop doing so and start ordering it here. It is that good. After starting off on such a gastronomical high I turned toward the Lomo Saltado with gusto. My first reaction was, "Egads!" I then wondered if I had somehow been transported to another restaurant. Looking around, I assured myself I was still seated at my table within the confines of El Buzo. I then re-focused on the dish in front of me. Where the Ceviché was flavored faultlessly, the skirt steak left much to be desired. It wasn't that the meat was bad, or freezer burned or anything like that, it just fell flat on the palate. The potatoes served alongside were on par with the meat as they were of the frozen junk variety and as such also quite flavorless. Serve fresh cut fries, it's all I'm saying! First time eating authentic Peruvian food. I was pleasantly impressed! Started with traditional ceviche and Chicha Mirada (purple corn drink sweetened with pineapple) Yum! Then had the Pollo Saltados and the beef stew (forget the name) both were seasoned perfectly with fresh ingredients and great sauces. Very reasonable prices as well and a friendly staff. Haven't been to Florida in years. I first met chef Bruno when he was in Orlando. Now that I came back to Orlando and didn't find his restaurant was a bit disappointing. We had pedicures in Cocoa Beach and were told of a wonderful Peruvian restaurant that we should try. It was unassuming... a little hole in the wall of a strip mall, but decided to try. so glad we did! The service and food were outstanding! My husband and I shared the Mixtado ceviche (mixed seafood) and saltado (beef). We also shared an order of tostones, tres Leches, an awesome cookie and a leche pudding. All were fantastic! First, our greeting was like a family greeting.. we instantly felt welcome. How do they do that? With each dish we ordered the response was, like, "of course! Why wouldn't you order that?" Comfort MAKES the meal, so why wouldn't we be pleased with the flavors they delivered? (Perfect and incredible) From ambiance, to consuming, to more consuming (dessert), the meal was the experience we wanted.
