El Cabrito gets 3 stars from me and i'll tell you why. 15 dollars a plate and no hand made tortillas is a no no but they get away with it. It's way over priced, roasted salsa de tomatillo is really good but just doesn't go well with birria. I guess i'm just use to the standard chile de arbol salsa. Their consome is good and their agua de pina is delish. I usually get tacos de birria, a side of consome and a agua de pina. It's good food and is consistent with their service. The food was delicious, very authentic, but there were a few problems that I had on my first there and maybe my last. First the parking lot is SUPER small and its really hard to find a parking spot and to even get out, you got to be super careful. Second they need to have indoors seating because the day I went it was ridiculously hot and we were forced to sit outside and there were pigeons everywhere and I couldn't really enjoy my food, because half of the time I was trying to make the pigeons go away. Tacos, tacos, tacos. This was the first stop of a taco crawl. Many people warned me to pace myself but who can resist good tacos? I tried the lengua (tongue), barbacoa, and al pastor. All three had different textures and flavors. The lengua is soft and melts into your mouth, whereas the barbacoa and al pastor packed a more complex punch especially with a hint of lime from these tiny jawbreaker-sized limes. They're good, but what brought us here wasn't the regular meats, but the renowned birria (stewed meat). One word, "delicioso". This particular birria is made with goat meat, but tasted different...it didn't taste "goaty", a word that Kevin B. coined to describe it. BF & I have been coming to El Cabrito since they were just a Food Truck! We have only tried the Tacos & consome. We've tried Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Pollo etc. The Tacos are pretty delicious esp if you get them "dorados". We love our tortillas crispy so that's how we order them every time! We love the salsa too. On occasion we've brought our pup & ate outside in the patio. read more

i can't stand goat meat so i always order the Barbacoa (beef) platter. It is soooo good on a cold day. The meat falls apart as your making taquitos. extra lime juice on top and a dash of salt and your set. read more

I normally am not a fan of goat meat. I was never able to get past the gaminess or the feeling that I was eating dirty hot socks. But I digress. Birria is from the state of Jalisco which happens to be the birth place of tequila. The birria at El Cabrito was succulent and offered no hint of gaminess. The birria plate came with cilantro, onions, limes and warm tortillas. Also included is a cup of consomme which is the broth in which the goat was cooked. Topped with onions and cilantro I chose to chug the broth straight from the cup instead of daintily dipping my birria taco into it. It was that good! read more

I never write reviews for restaurants but I just have to for this one. So today my family and I decided to go out and eat here. This was a horrible decision! First of all, we ordered 1 pound of Birria de chivo and that cost $29.99. That is way too expensive for just one pound and there was barely any birria. We also ordered one pound of Asada and it cost $15.99. That is also pretty highly cost. There was no flavor in everything. The meat didn't even taste like meat and it had no seasonings and same with the onion and salsa. After 5 minutes of being finished eating, all my family's stomach and my stomach started hurting very bad. My aunt almost threw up and was nauseous. I still feel very sick. We are never eating here again!! This was a terrible experience! read more

When I was little this place used to serve food out of a roach coach on 5th street in Santa Ana in a little parking lot. Since then they have acquired a restaurant where they now serve their amazing birria. Also I believe they still utilize the roach coach on the weekends. The best taco in town. They use good quality meat. The carne asada is tender and marinated perfectly. Their pastor tacos are good as well. But what makes it 5 stars for me is the salsa de aceite (oil based salsa). Just make sure you mix it well before pouring because naturally being oil based it separates from the other ingredients. read more

I'm not sure what they served but it was not barbacoa and consome. The meat was beyond greasy and the consome tasted like melted goat fat. After eating here it felt like i had a film of fat in my mouth and stomach all day long. I've had barbacoa and consome in Mexico, City and in the Inland Empire so I know what it's supposed to taste like. I also know that it is not the healthiest thing to consume--especially for breakfastl--but are you kidding me!!! I am giving El Cabrito four stars because it is a bit pricey, the staff is not very friendly, the seating isn't that great (if I'm not mistaken there are 2-3 tables indoors and the rest of the tables are outdoors), and the parking lot is terrible. read more

Wow, i am not a big fan of birria, till now. Some of the plates might run a bit pricey, but the food that i had was delicious. i had 5 tacos (2 asada, 1 chorizo, 1 carnitas, and 1 birria). The carnitas and birria were very juicy, the chorizo was very flavorful and the carne asada were good, not great, but good. The consome(the birria stock/broth) was surprisingly delicious, again, I'm not a big birria eater. Free oldschool tostadas, fried jalapeños & onions. The rice was good and the beans are not fried. I have never purchased BIRRIA this good outside of Jalisco. The quality of meat is outstanding. As sad as it sounds the goat must be relatively young to have the right texture and flavor. The seasoning and consome definitely did not disappoint. The rice and beans that accompany the plate are delicious as well. I loved the grilled onions I think they grill them with jalapeno's which gives it a subtle flavor.I have no complaints about this place except that I wish there was one closer to where I live. read more

Very delicious birria and very tasty tacos, however the price is way over the top. The only seating available is outside sitting which is not the best due to pigeons constantly flying over you and cold breeze when the night falls. I would have given this place 4 stars for it's food but being that they are way overpriced I had to nock off a star. Long standing Birria restaurant. Get the birria. Or the barbacoa. The name means "little goat" so eat the goat. Simple. The place is focused and great. Its not the best birria I have had, but its good. Most of the seating is outside, which is a pain if it is chilly or raining. read more

I love love LOVE this place. Believe me as a person who recently came from living in Mexico for 10 years, this is the closest thing you'll ever find to eating tacos and birria straight from Mexico. The birria is their specialty and it's delicious. The carne asada is super soft and juicy and not greasy at all. I also recommend the hot consome on a cold day to accompany your birria tacos. I am a big fan of birria, and while I tasted much better birria in jalisco mx, I have grown to like and even crave el cabrito! The birria i have had in the past was accompanied with a strong chile de arbol salsa (simmilar to pozole salsa) but el cabrito uses an oil and chile de arbol salsa, which is good but not as hot. The goat taste is also milder. In my humble opinion Birrieria Jalisco in Plaza Mexico (Lynwood) is better, but its a long drive. My wife preffers the slightly milder taste of el cabrito. The place is very clean but parking can get tight during busy lunch and dinner hours. read more
