11/15/18 I had a good experience today which is why the 4 stars because I'm have to come back for that 5th to be earned and measure for consistency! I went to Ford in La Mesa and they basically lied to me regarding what I needed to be assessed so I bounced and came here. I was in and out in less than an hour and half for a oil change and to see if I have a minor oil leak. No leak was observed so I'm trust their assessment and my oil is changed!!!! Got a car wash and I hope they didn't add washer fluid because I asked them not too because I put my own. Nothing extra was charged that I didn't need because the used vehicle I bough from them on 1/28/18 is well maintained. Joel aka Joe in the Quick Line was nice, informative and gave me a peace of mind. I walked the lot to get some steps in for the day and ran into the Manager at the Santee location who remembered me. I forgot his name but he was nice and it was good to see a familiar face. Then the sales consultant Paul Schofield approaches me and was friendly. As expressed to him I love my vehicle but it's not the color my heart desired. It has ALL the bells and whistles I was looking for but not the color, nevertheless I feel in love with it and love it more and more daily but had to walk the lot to look for a sliver color. He was informative regarding a vehicle trade but I didn't see what I wanted. I'm keep my eye out but then again this beauty that I have is more than sufficient. I'm blessed and it's a reminder that sometimes we might not get what we wanted, but in the end we have what we need. I have a safe vehicle, a peace of mind and for that I'm good. Oh and I can't forget Sherrie hope I spelled her name right in finance Dept. My first encounter with her on the night I bought the vehicle was a little off because I was unsure of my decision. She eased my fears and her approach assured me I got this. I needed that and value the time she took with me. I appreciate all the staff here for what they do despite what's said. Not just because I had a good experience but it's my hope that everyone's honest and provides good customer service. That's what brings us back despite any situation. Nothing like that face to face interaction!!! And if an employee doesn't have that appeal then they better get it together because as customers will says it like it is. Fortunately, I'm about that positivity for El Cajon because that's been my experience. There's not spectacular about me such as a VIP or whatever... other than I'm unique me ;) I'm an average customer who uses my coupons for oil changes to save a few bucks and that makes me a happy and returning customer!!! So in 2023 I had my pick up in there for oil change and they checked to see why the wrench light was on. Was told it was under warranty, BUT they couldn't get the part right away cause of the Covid issue. So I was told I'd get a call when it did arrive. Well today I called and was told that the issue was never recorded, so now my warranty is up and now longer applies to the fix. I really don't stand behind FORD anymore. This dealership is a complete joke. I made a service appointment online and noted the issues I was having. I also have an ESP Premium Care warranty. Bought the car in and have been given excuse after excuse from the first day rental to the time it will take to look at my vehicle. Service advisor said they didn't have anyone to look at my suspension so I told him just look at the AC as they have a tech here today that can evaluate. Then I get pulled into the Service Manager's office and was told a big fat lie of an excuse regarding a rental availability and that they usually require 24 to 48 hours to inspect my car which is BS. I'm sitting here as numerous people are coming in for service without an appointment and being told that they can get their issues checked out today. I was also told that there is a 90% probability that it would take over 10 days to get parts in and that my extended warranty rental is good for only 10 days. It was also emphasized that my car is a Lincoln so parts will take longer. I know that this navigator is built on a Ford T1 platform, like the Expedition for that time period and shares elements with the 2004-2008 Ford F-150's chassis. Since I'm a chick, I guess they think I was born yesterday. Not only was the service advisor rude the Service manager was just as rude if not more. I was called into his office like I was back in high school, while they back peddled and told me now it will take 24 to 48 hours to look at my vehicle despite the service advisor telling me they were going to look at it today. He also tried to argue with me that it might not be covered. It's a known issue with Expeditions and Navs. When I schooled him on what the problem was, he was surprised and stated that he has "heard" of that problem. Yeah right, dude. Didn't expect me to know my sh*t huh. Parts are interchangeable and a simple Google search educated me on the issues with my AC. Two days later, I get a call confirming that what I said was the problem was actually the problem. Complete lack of customer service especially for Ford ESP customers. If you're paying cash you'll be in and out of this dealership in no time. Try to use your warranty and you'll be placed at the back of the line and treated like a Tijuana dog. When I picked it up they were super nice to me. Sorry, no excuse for being a complete jack hole 3 days prior. I used to sell GMC's and Caddies. I know how dealerships work as well as the service centers. Take this advise from a girl. Learn to be straight up with your customers, as you never know who your actually dealing with. read more

I brought my car in for a 30,000 mile service and replace windshield wiper blades. When I picked up my car, there were deep scratches on the driver side foot rail, and a large white stain on the floor mat. The driver side wiper blade had a broken connector and the passenger side didn't have a blade in it! It had a piece of foam in it. I shouldn't have damage to my car and unacceptable work done at the dealer. I no longer trust the service department and will not be coming back. read more

If you want to save yourself from reading a story, take this away, DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE, PERIOD. EVER. AND DO NOT BUY A FORD PRODUCT. I had two experiences here in which I had a part replaced under warranty. They provided me a rental car (which took a long time because their ducks weren't in a row and I waited 4 days for them to "put in a claim"). Had no issues with service and car was fixed over a few days which was standard practice. As always, every dealer wanting more money due to high overhead, they recommend a whole new transmission and a handful of other bells and whistles. Never stated anything bad about my battery, transmission or anything else on the car. This ties into the whole story. Second experience I had included paying over $700 for a battery and a negative cable. The replacement of the battery was due to my car shutter and jumping from 1st to 3rd and to 5th gear in a rough motion. After pulling over in the parking lot, car battery died. No clue why, still. The part they replaced prior had directly impacted the transmission and these were not issues before. So I get my dead car towed to the dealership because they were the last to work on my car. I get a call stating that my battery was dead and they quoted my 250 to replace. Followed back up and stated they'd need another 100 to replace the negative terminal and battery cable sensor. I arrive to the dealership and have a bill for $750. The service advisor never provided labor hours but, according to this, if you do the math, assuming $125 an hour for labor, it took a little over 3 Hours to remove a battery and one bolt for a cable and install. You can do this with parts from Autozone and a wrench for $285 yourself . Again, terrible service, shotty labor hours claimed. So I get back in my car. Check engine light is on. Called the service desk and they cleared the code, which they never told me what the code even was. I drive off the lot and my transmission issues continue. They put me in a car that unsafe to drive, cleared a code, and told me I was safe. Drove a quick lap around the block and returned because it was not working correct. I refused to take it off the lot until I was given a diagnosis of what is wrong with my car. I met with the Service Manager and he starts talking about a "buy back" program. Are you kidding me? I am seeing you for service not so you can buy back my car for pennies (more on this later). Fast forward maybe a week. I received a call stating my car was on a lift and they want me to come down and "diagnose" the car issues. I couldn't believe what I heard. They wanted me to diagnose what was wrong with my car. They were supposed to be doing this. They were supposed to COMP this do to the fact that they put me back in a dangerous situation with no work completed for an issue that was not present before a battery changed. They call me the next day and tell me that my car is to be picked up. I talk to the technician and not the service advisor because I want to know the diagnostics. They never completed this. The tech stated that he looked at my car history and recommended a complete transmission rebuild based on car history, model, and what he wrote on a sheet a few months prior. They did no diagnostics. They did not plug it in a relearn the transmission. They only gave me recommendations. Here is the root problem. The car design sucks. The transmission is a bad design and Ford was forced to pay millions for repairs for a few years due to them knowing it was a faulty transmission and losing multiple class action lawsuits. But was a tougher pill to swallow was Fords response to the situation. I feel that El Cajon Ford tried to satisfy me as a customer as best they could with a terrible model. But, only minimally. They didn't apologize for giving me a car with a Check Engine light on. They will never be able to "Buy Back" my car considering it's condition and Ford knows it's a broken design. The Service Advisors and Clerks gossip about customers when there are customers present (not shocking but most talk about the customer behind their back, but not when others are in the waiting room). read more

Service center is inconsistent with communication. Rep on phone set and appointment and said service would take up to 2 days. Came in to drop off and service said up to a week, no problem. Once in person they said no loaner cars are given out for recall service which is different from what the appointment setter said. Brought my fathers RV here for service and Service Advisor C Martinez is by far one of the worst I've ever experienced. Given an estimated completion of 7 days. On day 8 diagnosis barely started and ultimately given vehicle back several days late. Understand there will always be setbacks but to walk away from customers when we come in to inquire about those setbacks because you wont return phone calls is beyond annoying. I would rather drive 100 miles out of my way then to ever bring my vehicle here for service, let alone buy anything from this dealership. *Given an extra star for at least being competent enough to read the error code and change the necessary parts. read more

We were on the market for a new or used vehicle. As such we visited 5 different dealerships. Although we didn't end up buying from this particular dealership because they didn't have what we were looking for, I would like to give this dealership big kudos. The person we dealt with was Lisa Welch. She was very friendly, resourceful but most of all, we never felt any sales pressure. The second time we visited the dealership we stopped by unannounced and without appointment, Lisa was working with other clients, but in spite of that, she called us by our names (she must have very good memory) and introduced us to James for a test drive. James was a friendly as Lisa. We felt so comfortable with this dealership that even though I didn't buy a car from them, we felt compelled to write this review and highly recommend them. Out of the 5 dealerships we visited, they were the best and would buy a car from them anytime. I personally don't enjoy car shopping and despite the sales tactics that many car sales people have. I've had my Ford 2019 ranger serviced at El cajon Ford many times. The last two visits were concerning: What would be 12,000 mi ago when I serviced my vehicle they told me I needed a new battery that it was testing low but recently when I serviced it again they didn't mention anything about the battery. So, why would have been testing low 12,000 miles ago but not now? Then I asked him to replace my front headlight which at the end when they go to give me my vehicle I asked him about it and he said and I quote, " we are out of headlights ". So basically I've been taking this to a Ford dealership because you know they rotate the tires and they wash the vehicle and that's all well and good but now there's a pattern of dishonesty at this particular dealership which basically means I have to drive....I guess I don't know.... to Carlsbad where I bought the place? My truck broke down on the freeway with a turbo/intercooler issue and I was able to limp it to this dealer. They were able to diagnose and repair it the same day, with parts in stock. I have bought many cars in my life and they've always been very nerve-racking at the time of signing documents and trade in values in arguing with the best price etc.. but believe it or not Joel over at El Cajon Ford just made the process so enjoyable. I have had my 06 Ford F350 pick up truck 4/16 years and man I did not want to give that up no car payment or anything except for repairs every year.. and I had been talking with Joel about custom designing a Ford lightning for me and my family and he helped me through the entire process and gave me updates as everything was being designed approved built and delivered to the dealership for me. Further to the above, in my opinion, the salesman at this dealer, John Banner, is definitely running a scam when a customer orders roof cross bars as an accessory. Customer orders the accessory, which consists of 2 bars Dealer orders 2 units (4 bars) Customer receives 2 bars assuming one unit equals 1 bar, therefore he has to buy 2. Salesman sticks the other 2 on eBay If the customer notices "whoops someone made a mistake, let me fix that invoice sir" In my opinion, based on my experience this is theft and I expect the senior management know about this. It's pretty easy to audit- how many times has a customer at El Cajon Ford ordered a new car with 2 sets of cross bars. It pains me to write this review we are a Ford Family . My father in law brought in to El Cajon Ford his F150 for routine service (covered under warranty)last week. He drop it off, then later that same day They call him to tell him they will need to keep the truck for a few days, because the part will take a few days to come in, they told him he can pick up the truck and bring it back once the part arrived... while they had the truck in the shop they started an oil change but failed to replace the oil and sent my father in law with his truck home with no oil..( thats a big no no) on the drive home the truck started making a clicking noise. He checked the oil and to his surprise they forgot to put in the new oil... he call El Cajon Ford who sent their mechanics to put oil in the truck the sent out without oil..!!! See the pic below that was snapped while they were putting in the oil. They told us they will set up a meeting with the Service Manager and General manager the following wed . Fast forward to today Wed they were rude and even screamed at my father in-law the Service Manager David Gutierrez and John Blake (Controller/manager) where claiming my father in law was driving it with out oil and that it was his fault... if that was the case why would you send out your mechanics to come to his home and fill up his oil.. given that all the service records have been done there at El Cajon Ford where he bought the truck.. What an absolute joke this place is. Took my 21 Tremor F350 in for a starter that went bad at about 63,000 miles. I had purchased the best 120,000 mile warranty they offered when I bought the truck at Encinitas Ford a year prior so I assumed of course something like a starter would be covered. After two weeks of them doing nothing despite having an appointment to have it looked at, the real piece of work "service advisor" Guillermo who calls you back days after he says he'll call you back, every time, tells me that my starter is covered by the warranty but not the flex plate and the work to drop my transmission & replace it that this crap part destroyed when it went out (was making a horrendous grinding noise when trying to start the truck). I then asked wtf exactly did I pay for when I bought a 120,000 mile warranty on a $90,000 truck the character tells me "we're service we didn't sell you the warranty, sales did" haha classy. Then he relinquished any responsibility because I bought it at Encinitas FORD but not El Cajon FORD. So I called Encinitas's Ford (which has always been amazing to work with, completely different vibe), coincidentally got the general manager on the phone 10 minutes after he started work & within literally another 10 minutes tells me "you're all good now, not sure if these guys are trying to up sell you or what but you're all good now. I made a few calls & everything is covered". So that was cool. Props to Encinitas Ford. Don't remember the GM's name but all the interactions I've had with them have been amazing! THEN, another issue noticed when my truck was on the tow truck was it appeared that my rear shock was leaking fluid. Good ole Guillermo didn't even bother to have that checked by the warranty claim until 2 1/2 weeks into having my truck, real efficient . To which he then tells me it's not the shock, it's the rear end leaking....that went out at 30,000 miles that THEY REPAIRED. So he tells me they replaced the seal & it's all good. No notes of any kind of inspection done on my rear end that was depleted of fluid for who knows how long. Just replace the seal top her off & send ya on your way. Long story short...this entire establishment is a joke, terrible expertise, terrible customer service & basically I have a $90,000 dream truck thats likely a ticking time bomb because some absolute amateurs have now taken apart my rear end & my transmission. Save yourself a ton of headache & go to literally any other Ford dealership. read more

I was a customer of this Ford for 6 years. They put me in a new Ford fusion hybrid back in 2020 which for the most part was okay until the start of 2021, which in my opinion, way too early to have issues with a new car. The screen would frequently turn off or black, I would be driving and my navigation would disappear, all around frustrating stuff. Then the car stopped registering my brand new iPhone 13 for apple play. I bought certified and uncertified cords to try and fix it, nothing. I made an appointment with their "service" department to drop off my car for an oil change that was already paid for, and for them to fix the issues with my leased vehicle. They not only never fixed it (I traded it in just two days ago with the same issues), they had the nerve to completely forget about my car for days, then the service manager promised me a rental and did not provide one. On top of that, when I asked what happened to my car the manager told me they forgot about it. Is honesty truly the best policy? Let's just tell the customer who pays us hundreds of dollars a month we forgot about them and their appointment. If this is all it was, I wouldn't even be mad. This phone call was at 8 am, I said please just do my oil change then I need my car back. Service manager assured me that my car would be next for oil. It took them until 7 pm to CHANGE OIL ON A FUSION. Again, had an appointment. They also moved/took my car to a different location without my consent or permission. I dropped my car off at ford and picked up at some sketchy run down rv lot down the road. During all of this I was getting increasingly frustrated. I had Kelsey in service being rude, I had their manager making false promises and failing miserably at the bare minimum. Then comes their controller - Mr. John Blake. One of the rudest, most unprofessional human beings I've had the displeasure of speaking to. This is their "second in command" at the dealership supposedly. This man saw I had posted a bad review of my terrible and ongoing experience with his shop, and instead of offering any support or understanding about the situation, when I called to inquire how they were going to fix my car his response to me was "Why should I help you? You're posting bad reviews about us on yelp" Um, here's an idea, because you're CONTRACTUALLY obligated to work on and repair leased cars, maybe that's why you should do it? So because I hurt his feelings he was refusing to help me with my leased car that was having issues NOT due to me, peak professionalism. The fact that i was upset about his companies failures was taken out on me, and I was threatened to basically remove my review or get no help. Well I removed it and still got no help! This man saw my review within an hour of me posting it despite how "busy" they all are , and I was accused of being a hysterical female because I was expressing my displeasure at how I was treated. I'll happily go take my business and $$$ elsewhere. Avoid this unprofessional and poorly managed dealership like the plague. Take the extra time to visit Sedona Ford instead, where they know how to talk to customers if you're dead-set on owning a Ford. I had to wait until my contract was over to feel comfortable posting my honest review for El Cajon, that in itself is a big yikes. John reply to me was that he wanted to sell to the locals and that out state business doesn't appeal to him. I'm glad my buddy was in the bathroom so he didn't hear his spew. Edit from after the review - I stand by what I said that I've never had a problem with El Cajon Ford until now. Thankfully, soon after my problem came to the attention of Dave, the manager, he quickly called me and helped make things right. I appreciate his swift response and help figuring out the situation. Again, I've seriously never had a problem until now and it speaks to Dave's character that he was willing to help as soon as something went wrong. I will definitely be back and look forward to their speedy service. I've been going to El Cajon Ford for 3 years now. I bought my car from them, I get my oil changed every 6 months with them, and any problems I have, I go to them. The service and prices have always been fine for a dealership... until my last trip there. I had a belt snap on my car and brought it in. They charged me about $100 for the belt and $144 to fix it, which is fine, but they also charged me an additional $180 to diagnose the problem. Now I get charging that if I'm going to see what's wrong and go somewhere else to have it fixed, but I had it fixed with them. Also, it was the most obvious problem in the world. I heard a loud pop, popped my hood, and saw a belt dangling before I even brought it in! Obviously I won't act like I know everything they diagnose but it feels excessive to charge $180 to diagnose a really obvious problem that I'm paying them to fix and only took them 40 minutes to fix. I wish I had felt a little more taken care of. Needless to say I will now be trying to find other Ford dealerships for my oil changes and car problems. If El Cajon Ford would like to remedy this for other customers, they should charge $180 to diagnose the problem but then remove that charge if the customer gets the car fixed with them. It achieves the same purpose of preventing people from hopping from dealership to dealership while not tacking on a $180 fee for simple repairs. This place is a gigantic turd zone. My first appointment, when I arrived I found out my scheduled service advisor was off. Told it would be a week stay for my car, no rentals. Finally get the problem diagnosed, which was a broken back up camera, ordered part told 3 days, so I got a rental with my warranty... the part never came the week my rental was covered (6 days), then was told it's back ordered. So I picked up my car, waited for the part to arrive, 2 weeks later! I'd like to also mention during the 3 weeks they had my car in shop, my advisor Kelsey was no help. She doesn't answer her phone, doesn't call back, isn't in shop. I mean if I tell you I want to pick up my car WEDNESDAY, and your off, maybe you should tell me, so I can call someone who takes your clients while you're away or you can set it up for pick up. Just me calling ALL DAY with no call backs, no one who answered even mentioned she was gone. Waste of time! Also, the problem with my EV is joke too. I honestly don't know if they ever looked at the issue in depth. Kelsey informed me that it was test driven on different road conditions, THATS A LIE. I took a picture of my mileage at drop off, less than a mile was put on. Why lie? Even put my car gets 40 MPG, it's averaging 33 MPG, which is my issue. I have full coverage with a warranty, so I don't get why not actually look into the issue? I called back 2 time yesterday 2-23-23 to let Kelsey know my MPG is worse, the EV never turned on, was told she'd call. NEVER CALLED. I will never buy a FORD again, and this location is a joke. read more

I didn't buy a car here, I sold one to them. Overall, I guess it went just okay... they did beat the price of my highest dealer bid for the truck. But, they told me they could transfer the title to them and give me a check when I came down to do the transaction before I got the title for paying the truck off to the lender, Ford Credit. Trusting they knew what they were talking about since they are a Ford dealer and the dealership I bought it from (that we were waiting for the title on) was also Ford, I went down to their dealership in El Cajon to do the deal. Well, I drove the 30 miles each way to the dealership once we agreed to terms only to discover that they were not willing to do the transaction until the title got there... ?! Them being a dealer and avoiding this title issue is exactly why I looked at dealer bids in the first place instead of selling to a private party who would have given me more money for it. So, I go back home and wait for the original dealer to give me the title from Ford Credit. I took the title down to El Cajon Ford the same day I got it, which was almost 3 weeks later. It went sort of smoothly from there except all the copies they gave me were unreadable and it took a few days for them to get me better copies. I needed them to request a sales tax refund. Also, the time (20 days) and mileage delay of driving back and forth 4 times putting 120+ miles on the truck after I had paid it off, plus my needing to use it for transportation during that time (we didn't do the transaction so I couldn't buy another vehicle to drive), may have disqualified me for getting the tax refund for the sales and use tax the dealer shouldn't have charged me in the first place. Anyway, the moral of the story is actually that Ford Credit sucks and I will never lease a Ford again under any set of circumstances. Which is unfortunate because I need a new SUV, I want to lease it, and Ford has some pretty awesome SUVs. Oh, well. Beware!!! Ford charges insane fees for you to buy your leased vehicle. Ford has a notorious reputation (unknown by me when I leased this truck) of not allowing you to do anything else with your lease within 90 says of the end of the lease. They make it almost impossible to buy it... they want you to turn it in so that they make a big fat round pile of money on your vehicle. And they put you through hell if you try to buy it. They charged me almost $1000 in BS fees and tried to make me pay up front for DMV fees that I would not owe once the truck was theirs... and that was within 90 days... violating their own rule and the law, since the DMV would not have accepted the money... they were just trying to make it harder and more expensive for me to buy it. I scheduled an appointment through my Ford app. I moved around my work schedule as their hours match my work hours. I came in and confirmed I was in their system as an appointment at 3:40. The girl at the front with the glasses said "ooohhhhhh, are you able to leave it overnight?" No, I can't. She said "oh well we don't use the appointments system, we take everyone on a walk-in basis and we are really short staffed right now" she said that they stop taking walk-ins around 3:00pm. I'm sorry, why would you continue to take walk-ins knowing that you have appointments in the system? I am a single mom with two kids that I need to get to and from school and activities everyday and I work full time. There is a reason we SCHEDULE appointments. I cannot leave my car, I have no one else to drive me and my kids around. I cannot come in the middle of the day and sit and wait for hours as a walk-in appointment because I have a job. Only rating this a one star because there's no option of giving it a a zero. Elizabeth G. at quick lane really needs to get more training, this is the second time she messed up on my quote she gave me for the service on my car. Doesn't give a direct answer when asking how much is the total she said "uhhh couple more hundred dollars" She is unprofessional and lacks knowledge of the job she is doing. She must of told me she will call me back like 3 different times when I asked her a simple question. If! I ever go back to this location I don't want to deal with her. Also, when I inspected my car prior to paying for the already shitty service provided by her, they left tools in my car and my cabin air filter cap on the front set of my car. What a typical car dealership. I was selling my Mini Cooper, went on their website which valued my car fairly. I brought the car in, and Spenser met me and was very nice, saying this car will sell within a week. The car was in great shape. I go into the office, and Spenser said the sales manager would come out and we would confirm the price. After 10 minutes, Spenser comes out to say the sales manager would offer me half of the amount their own website, 'instant cash' value. He didn't get off his lame butt to meet me, or look at the car. El cajon Ford's customer service is horrible they are liars and scam artist took my truck there to be diagnosed and they did nothing. said it need new spark plugs little did they know it got new spark plugs and coil packs the day before I brought it to them they charged me over $200 to do nothing. El cajon ford does it again. Made an appointment to drop our vehicle off for warranty work for the 5th time. Same issue. Magically they couldn't find the records in the computer. They didn't have record of my appointment. So on so forth. Every time our vehicles has ever been to this dealer it has been unsatisfactory! This was the last straw. "Negative Experience with Salesperson" I recently visited El Cajon Ford looking for a Ford Ranger of which there are few around in San Diego. After looking at one of the vehicles, I was approached by a sales guy named Matt McClen. Immediately upon introductions he asked me if I was planning on buying today or just kicking tires. This did not sit with me well at all. I asked if he could please open this Ford Ranger in order to see the inside. The vehicle seemed to have some extra features and Matt let me know it was a Roush Ranger with several thousands of dollars in upgrades. At this point, our salesperson seemed to have no interest in helping as I received the impression from him that I could not afford the vehicle. Also, at this point my wife decided to walk from where she was looking for a Ford Edge also. She got into the Ford Ranger, and we were hoping for a test drive. Matt informed me that they would need to qualify me first before any test drive would be considered. At this moment, Matt went to say hello to some other customers that were looking a Ford Raptor on the lot. My wife came by to ask if we could leave as she is sensitive to smell and being around Matt in the vehicle was challenging. He smelled like he had not showered in days as the body odor was very strong. I was more upset that Matt left us to go greet another customer and was not the least bit concerned with continuing to help us. We started to leave to the front parking lot and Matt just looked at us and waved goodbye. I did come back two days later by myself to see if someone else could help us but I was met by the same salesperson Matt McClen who did not even recognize me. He was even wearing the same clothes as two days prior. He asked if I liked the Ranger and if I was here to buy today. This turned me off completely. I made a quick U-turn and left this dealership. Two days later, I purchased a brand new Ford Ranger and also a Ford Edge for my wife from Kearny Mesa Ford where I was not asked to be qualified before test driving and the salesperson was energetic, clean and so pleasant to deal with. This dealership needs to talk to the salespeople about how to treat customers since I wanted to give my business to the local store as I live in El Cajon. read more

Went to El Cajon Ford Service to check why my 2002 Ford Ranger would not clear the OBD system monitor to allow emissions test to proceed. Apparently, not uncommon if the battery has been disconnected which resets the monitor. After driving many miles, as advised by the emissions tech and my local mechanic, the OBD monitor check would not reset. So, brought truck to El Cajon Ford with an Initial estimate $125 to check it out. But had to wait two days as they were busy. After third day I called and Service rep checked and said it would be $300 to check it out due to my description of the problem. Ummm...$300 to just check it out? Needless to say, I said no. Called La Mesa Penske Ford Service desk and described the issue and ask his estimate to check it out. He said $0. He directed me to Google 2002 Ford Ranger Drive Cycle reset. Low and behold, there were clear instructions how to drive my truck to clear the monitor. After driving two cycles, just to be sure, I brought truck back to emissions center and the monitor was cleared and I passed my emissions test. So, El Cajon Ford Service either 1) wanted to turn me away with a high estimate, and or 2) was ignorant of the drive cycle fix, and or 3) and most likely, was simply taking me for a ride. Oh, El Cajon Ford is where I originally bought my truck, if this makes any difference on where I may purchase another vehicle. read more
