The first sign this dealership is poorly managed is their web site -- almost every vehicle has a "Call For Price" tag. Either they're too short-handed to keep up maintenance on their web site, or they just don't care. Not a huge issue as the sticker can be viewed online. But, definitely an annoyance. After viewing the sticker, I called and spoke to a salesperson to inquire about the price and financing. I gave them the vehicle ID and after a minute they returned with an astronomical number that was nowhere near the sticker (nearly $25K above - way off!). I asked if they were sure and they said, "yes." I thanked them and moved on after deciding that this dealership wasn't one I was going to buy from. There was no mistake in the vehicle we were discussing, as the salesperson described it to me. I then decided to build one online using the Ford Corporation web site. I pieced together the same vehicle with WAY MORE features for FAR LESS. I'm talking a huge magnitude in terms of features. I printed the build and took it to another Ford dealer in San Diego. They added another $1500 for destination/delivery charges, which I expected, but otherwise no haggling. I dropped a small deposit and was told to wait 3-4 months due to a backlog, which I had no issue. ECF is obviously struggling with finding good, qualified staff that knows how to properly deal with a wide range of customers. Not every one is going to fall for the typical "are you ready to buy" garbage, or the pricing games. Unethical salespeople are very off-putting for people who've purchased many cars in the past, like me. The best you can do is to change your approach to shopping for a vehicle. It's amazing just how horrible this Ford place is. Went there six days ago to drive and order a Bronco Sport. Gave them a deposit check and was told we'd receive a call when the 23 models came out in a few days. We were ready to roll with this purchase. Never got a call. Turns out the guy didn't even remember who we were or that we'd given him a check. He kept trying to patch me through to someone else who I'd only been talking to to get to him. Even after giving my name, a description of me and my husband and recounting our test drive together--- he still didn't have a clue- or even the desire to find out. We had been with him for about two hours last week. I finally called the manager and was met with nothing but excuses. I told him to rip up our check. With this as a way to start, going through with this large of a purchase there would have been a huge gamble. Guess I dodged a large bullet there. James was our salesman- we first came to the dealership on Sunday 12/29- we told him we were just looking around (we had 3 kids with us). He didn't skip a beat- and treated us with EXCELLENT service. He showed us several different types of vehicles, answered lots of questions, and was super helpful even though it was obvious we weren't ready to purchase. He gave us his card- and we went on our way. The next day we visited 2 other dealerships and even though they gave us a good price- no one compared to the level of service that James provided. We called James late that afternoon and set up an appointment to come back. The other blessing is that there was a "new/late model" vehicle still on the lot- so we were able to get a price we could afford for a truck we didn't even think was possible. God provided a huge blessing, and James was a huge part of that. The sales manager was also very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. I took my 2017 Ford Fusion which has about 24k miles to have a tire looked at that kept loosing air. This is not the first time I took the car to them for the same reason. Air was at 27 and should have been at 33 or 34 pounds. The first time they obviously did nothing but add air as I had to return I a second time. The customer service person was a young woman who told me it would be about an and that she was leaving to go to the bank and would be back in time to finish up my repair work. More than an hour went by and she had not returned so I asked another customer service man to find out if my car was ready. He came back and said it was, but that my lug nuts were swollen and I needed to replace them. I declined a $66 lug nut replacement. Recently (August 11, 2022) the Power Steering failed on our 2008 Escape and we were desperate to get it repaired. Brandon Snyder our Service Advisor was able to get the problem diagnosed the same day and get the work done much sooner than estimated. Currently the car market has been crazy and I have been to a few dealerships where the salesmen are really aggressive or just weren't actively seeking my business. In comparison to those horrible experiences El Cajon ford was lovely. Their was no rush, or aggressive sales tactics. Hell they were even willing to haggle w me a bit, and that's unheard of these days. I got the 22 mach e California , at 61500, 314 range. Well folks looks like I spoke too soon. Took our 2017 Ford Explorer in to get diagnosed because one check engine kept going on and off. 2nd its running sluggish and it just seems like it could be the transmission. Keep in mind we bought the vehicle with a warranty. We brought the car in afternoon of June 25th for appointment with El Cajon Ford on Wednesday the 25th. Thursday they called and said it needs a $500 tune up. We declined the $500 tune up and asked if they could please check the transmission and list of issues we were having with it before warranty runs out. My husband called Yesterday to check the status they said they could not check transmission because we declined the $500 tune up. This is ridiculous... People ... friends ... please don't go to Ford. Save time and heartache. We have a sick kiddo with Leukemia and all we want is a vehicle that is reliable to get to treatments and for my husband to go back and forth to work. We aren't asking for much just fix it...we have a warranty!! There are so many issues and recalls .... holy crap ... we get these postcards about the recalls and lawsuits! Its so crazy! I had an issue with my truck, the rear window rolled down and would not roll up on Saturday the Dec. 26. OT how I wanted to spend my day after Christmas. Not to mention rain was coming for the next two days. The service department was closed when I brought my vehicle in. The sales manager on duty offered to bring my truck to the back inside the secured gate and under cover so it would not get rained on causing water damage in the vehicle. This was one of those moments you see in a commercial. The staff on duty went out their way to protect my vehicle putting the customer first. Thank you so much. The service department runs with the poorest display of efficiency I have ever experienced in my life. I purchased my Ford maverick at El Cajon Ford. I have taken it there for a safety recall in order to replace airbags, but was advised that they did not have the parts. I called one other time to find if they had the parts about a month or two later, and they did not have the parts according to the service attendant. I called today to get the recall done and was advised that they have the recall parts but that I should try to take it to another Ford dealer because they were too busy. They also said that I would have to leave it there for 4 to 5 days in order to have the work completed. I called another Ford dealer and was advised that they could see me tomorrow and that the work would take 1/2 a day. I am very dissatisfied with El Cajon Ford's response. Since my technician (frank) won't return my phone calls maybe this review will get there attention.... We dropped my ford explorer off TWO WEEKS AGO. We were having problems with the front passenger seat being stuck in the forward position, as well as the third row seats not working. When we dropped it off we were told we would have a diagnosis within 2-3 days. On day 3 we had to call the service department because we hadn't heard from them. They seemed confident they knew what the problem was but didn't have a quote for us yet. The following day we had radio silence so we called frank and he said he would go check with the tech in the back and call us back in 10 minutes. Hours go by, and again radio silence. At this point we have called almost on a daily basis and get absolutely nowhere and no answers. Our car has been there for over TWO WEEKS now with the worst communication and service I have ever experienced. You take your car to the dealership for outstanding service, this is not at all what I would have expected when working with a reputable dealership. My husband is currently driving down to the dealership to confront the manager to figure what Is going on because this is absolutely ridiculous. Whatever you do... Don't allow lies to be told to boost your income. I was told I had swollen lug nuts and bad tires. They rep told me they could not remove the lug nuts because they were swollen. When I got home I checked my lug nuts and did not find them to have any defects. I was able to remove them with no problem and I know you have better tools than I do. I find this to be a your way of saying that the customer is to stupid to check your work so we can profit off this stupidity. I have done business with El Cajon Ford for more than 30 years, I am wondering how many times you ripped me off because I was to stupid to check your work and how many others you took advantage of me. After researching what swollen lug nuts. I found there are 2 causes, bad weather areas with snow and salt on the roads which never happens in San Diego and someone using the wrong size socket to remove the lug nuts, I have had all my services done by you and no one else has removed the lug nuts but during your services. If I really had swollen lug nuts it would be you that caused it. Also find that Ford does not cover this defective part under warranty. This makes no sense and shows that Ford can no longer be trusted as they sell defective parts and don't care how this affects their customers. As you asked 140 dollars to replace the lug nuts I looked up the cost of replacing them and got a lifetime warranty on a new set that cost 22 dollars on Amazon, since there may be a time in the future that these go bad I went ahead and replace them. see picture of the originals attached which shows they are not swollen. eugenelane@cox.net read more

Buying a used car, a new experience for me, was quite and easy, from sales rep to financing.

I have mixed feelings about this review. Parts of our experience were excellent, and parts were dismal. I contacted the Internet sales department, and worked with Bobby Morales on the car we were interested in. No complaints with Bobby. He paid attention to what we wanted, and found the exact car we were looking for. When it came time to meet and work out the deal, we were to meet at their outlet location in Santee. Bobby was off that day, and passed the torch to John Clark. John was very helpful, and worked with us on nailing down a time to meet. At the last minute, John was not able to make it, and handed us off to Matt Duff. Matt was wonderful, and I have nothing but high praise for him. The problem was the Manager at the Santee location, Mike West. We arrived with our trade in before our salesman Matt arrived with the vehicle. Mike told us he was going to get information on the car, and proceeded to walk around it, take notes, etc. He was gruff, insensitive, and rude. We were trading in a 12 year old car, and didn't have the highest expectations, but still, this was our first face to face contact with the dealership, and to say we weren't impressed would be an understatement! Mike continued to poke around, and then said "what color is this car anyways?" The car has some peeling paint, but it is obviously black! He mumbled a few more things, and then went back into his trailer to crunch numbers. Matt finally arrived, and things started to look up. If he had not been as personable and friendly as he was, we would have walked away from the sale. Dealership owner take note... Friendly salesmen = sales and happy customers. Sherri the finance lady was fun also. I would give she and Matt 5 stars each! I always ask for a free oil change when I buy a car. That is my gage as to whether they are interested in having my business in their service department after my purchase. Most dealerships will do this. El Cajon Ford did not. There was also a big runaround with the items on my due bill. They said it would take 15 minutes. We were there for 3 hours! Also, we have not received any kind of follow up phone call from the dealership to see how we like our car, etc. Sorry guys, I'm taking my service department business to Kearny Pearson Ford!
